Cynthia "Cindy" Diana Higgins, 62, of Florissant, Missouri met her Lord and savior, Jesus Christ on March 31, 2022. Cindy was born November 20, 1959, in New Orleans, Louisiana, the daughter of Eve and Duward Brown. In this life, we are given free will by God. Many choices and distractions may come, but we individually have the freedom to choose whom we will serve. Some sadly choose self over God. Some allow their goals and accomplishments to take priority in their lives, outweighing their family, their relationship with the Lord our God and their peace. Cindy Higgins lived seeking Christ, seeking to provide and care for her family, and for her community in Junction City, KS. A woman face with many challenges that most would have never had made it through, loosing not one but three precious children, Sherry, Holly, and Cecil. Taking care of her loving husband Pat Higgins for so many years through his sickness was the true wedding vow of sickness and in health, however, she remained humbled and continued to seek the face of Jesus. Cindy lived with purpose, a woman on a mission, and that mission was to make sure that everyone in her life knew how special they were and how she loved everyone equally. She lived not for earthly achievements; she lived for Jesus and her family. I know without a doubt that Cindy today is rejoicing in Heaven with angels. Heaven has gained a Godly woman and is brighter with her there. All who knew and loved Cindy have been forever inspired and changed through the love she shared throughout her life. She was known for being the town's Grandma to so many kids and a second mother to most. Rest in peace Cindy Higgins, you have fought a good fight. To her family that she leaves behind, cry not and do not loose faith as we will see her again in heaven. Live life the way Cindy lived life; honor her and her memory by carrying on her dedication and devotion to love more deeply and to live with purpose. Virginia F. “Jean” White, age 73, of Blue Rapids, passed away peacefully at her home with family about her, on Tuesday, April 5, 2022.&nbsp; Jean was born April 25, 1948, in Omaha, Nebraska. She is the daughter of James and Irene F. (Jarzynka) Whitley.

Jean had worked at Cambridge Place as a Certified Medicine Aide for twenty years, retiring in 2020.&nbsp; She loved her children and grandkids.&nbsp; She especially enjoyed playing Santa Claus. She would do things for them and give them gifts, often buying their presents years in advance.&nbsp; She also enjoyed playing Bingo and going to the casino.

Survivors include her three children:&nbsp; Angie (Jim) Whiting of Waterville, Dana White of Blue Rapids and Dennis (Heather) White of Winfield, two siblings: Clifford (Patty) Whitley of Ralston, Nebraska and Julie Kuhn of Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, seven grandchildren: Jessica, Brittney, Skylar, Ty, Shelby, Adrianne and Abby.&nbsp; Jean was preceded in death by her parents, a son David White, a grandson Jacob White and a sister Geraldine Allen.

Viewing will be at Christie-Anderes Funeral Home in Waterville, on Saturday, April 9, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with a funeral service following at 2:00 p.m..&nbsp; Honorary bearers are Dennis White, Ty White, Cliff Whitley, Nate Whitley and Jerry Riley. Daniel D. Kline (Pastor Dan), age 71 of West Grove, PA and former Pastor of First Baptist Church of Clay Center, KS passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on February 27, 2022.&nbsp; He was born in Lynchburg, VA in 1950 to the late Karl L. Kline and Arline Kline Gunderson.

Dan was a 1969 graduate of Emmaus High School in Emmaus, PA and a Graduate of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY.

Dan’s full time ministry life included the following: Associate Pastor of Kanawha City Baptist Church in Charleston, WV, Christian Ed / Youth / Music Pastor at First Baptist Church of South Charleston, WV, Youth Pastor and Interim Pastor at Clarksburg Baptist Church and VA Chaplain in Clarksburg, WV, Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church of Clay Center, KS, Meadowlark Hospice Chaplain in Clay Center, KS, Senior Pastor of Willow Grove Baptist Church Willow Grove, PA, Senior Pastor of Kennett Square First Baptist Church in Kennett Square, PA, EPIC Ministry Pastor at Avondale Presbyterian Church, Avondale, PA and Associate Pastor of Media Mennonite Church - now called Waterway Church in Oxford, PA.

Dan retired from full time ministry in 2018 due to declining health but remained a faithful Pastor to many and found creative ways to share the gospel wherever he went.&nbsp; Three simple words, “Enjoy the Gift” was his way of creating a joyful introduction to any stranger that he would meet.&nbsp; This opened up the door to share Jesus with them.&nbsp; Dan’s gift of compassion for others led him to visit many people over the years in their time of need.&nbsp; Dan had a beautiful singing voice and played his guitar for over 55 years.&nbsp; He was a man of Prayer.&nbsp; He will be remembered as well for his quick puns and jokes!

Dan’s life verse was Romans 1:16 “ For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.”

In 1984, Dan married Cheryl Baughman Kline with whom he shared 38 years of life together in full-time ministry.&nbsp; Dan was a faithful dedicated father to daughter, Alicia Kline Hendrickson and son, Joshua Kline.

Dan is survived by his wife Cheryl, daughter Alicia Kline Hendrickson, son-in-law Chuck Hendrickson, all of West Grove, PA, and son Joshua Kline of Anderson, Indiana.

Also surviving are his brothers, Dave (Patricia) Kline of Sewell, NJ, Jon (Joanne) of Franklinville, NJ, sister Cheryl DeShazier of CharlesTown, IN; sister, Karlene VanNess of West Sussex England and half brother George Jones of Santa Cruz, CA, and extended family.

A Service will be held at&nbsp; First Baptist Church in Clay Center KS, on Saturday, May 21st at 11:00 a.m.. Friends can visit with the family 1 hour prior to the service.&nbsp;

Christi Renee Spielman, 54, was surrounded by her family as she passed away on the morning of March 30, 2022. She was born November 10, 1967 at Topeka to Lloyd and Patricia (Olejnik) Tomson. She graduated from Rossville High School in 1986 and went on to attend and graduate from Washburn University. Christi married Michael K. Spielman on September 25, 1994 at Sacred Heart in Delia, Kansas. They raised 3 children, Benjamin, Brandon and Katelyn (Katie). Christi was employed at Fork in the Road, Riley, Kansas. She was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church, Clay Center. &nbsp;She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Spielman.

She is survived by her family, sons, Benjamin Spielman and Brandon Spielman, Manhattan, and daughter, Katie Spielman, Clay Center; her parents, Lloyd and Patricia Tomson, Rossville; a brother, Craig (JoAnn) Tomson, Wichita; a sister, Jill (Marc) Carver, Topeka; a sister-in-law Kerri Spielman, Clay Center; in-laws, Norval and Linda Spielman, Manhattan; nephews Zayden Tomson; Tyler, Garrett and Jacob Carver; Jordan, Justin, Jonathan and Jason Entgelmeier; and so many more family members and wonderful friends.

Matthew Scott Heller, 42 of Solomon passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2022. He was born in Salina September 4, 1979, the son of Scott and Kathie (Rider) Heller. He grew up in Solomon and graduated from Solomon High School in 1998. On July 4, 2009 he was united in marriage to Danielle Dupal in Abilene.

 Matt loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and sports of all kinds especially watching his Chicago Bears play football. He was a big animal lover who adored his dogs and cat, but above all he loved watching his nephews play their sports.

 Matt is survived by his loving wife Danielle of the home. Parents, Scott and Kathie Heller of Solomon. Brother, Brian Heller (Leannitta) and Nephews Kadin and Holton. Brothers-in-law: William Dupal JR (Sally) and Nathan Dupal (Rachel) and Niece Stella. Sister-in-law: Heather Michalek and Nephew Tyler. Father-in-law William Dupal (Kathy) and Mother-in-law, Grace Dupal, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins along with several lifelong friends he considered family. Betty J. Fay, age 94, of Manhattan, died April 6, 2022, at Ascension Via Christi Village in Manhattan. She was born April 29, 1927, in Manhattan, the daughter of Otis Fleming and F. Ada Dresser. Betty graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Manhattan and attended Marymount College in Salina. She worked for 25 years for McCall Pattern Company. She started folding patterns and worked her way up to being the data entry position with the company. Betty was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church and was very active with the Riley County Seniors’ Service Center. She enjoyed doing crafts including painting, sewing, and pottery. Betty also enjoyed the trips with Manhattan Parks and Recreation, visiting antique stores, going for rides in the country and her pet cats. In 1947, in Manhattan, she was married to James Fay. Mr. Fay preceded her in death in 2020. Survivors include her seven children: Michael Fay of Emporia, Patrick Fay of Manhattan, Carolyn Deweese of Wamego, Kevin Fay of Manhattan, Kim McBee of Florida, Kelly Fay of Manhattan, and Erin Hunsinger of Kansas City, MO; 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; one brother Carl J. &nbsp;Ronald B. "Ron" Schnurr, 53, of Dwight, KS, passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, KS. Cremation will take place. A graveside service with military honors are pending at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery. Ron was born April 15, 1968, the son of Ronald George-Bernard and Betty Mae (Clossin) Schnurr. Ron served five years in the United States Army. After his Army career at Ft. Riley, he stayed and lived in Geary County, Kansas where he raised his family and worked on a farm. He married Joleen Enfield in Junction City, KS. They were married for twenty eight years. Survivors include his wife Joleen of the home in Dwight, KS; two sons, Cody Schnurr of Overland Park, KS and Zachary Schnurr of the home in Dwight, KS; his mother, Betty Mae Schnurr of Alta Vista, KS; two brothers, Terry and his wife Julie Schnurr of Topeka, KS and Michael and his wife Diana Schnurr of Junction City, KS; mother-in-law Hannelore Enfield; his aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews; He was preceded in death by his father.

William R. "Bill" McMichael, 53, Junction City, KS, died Thursday, March 17, 2022 at his residence. Cremation will take place. After retiring, he chose to stay in the Fort Riley area living in Junction City. Bill spent his time fishing and golfing, his two passions. You could usually find him at Moon Lake, at the dam spillway, or other quiet holes fishing, and then giving away his catch. He was also an avid golfer. Most recently he worked at the Rolling Meadows Golf Course doing what he loved. Bill was a member of American Legion, Memorial Post 40, Leonardville, KS. He actively participated in post events as well as many American Legion events throughout Kansas. Most notably was the Annual Big Red One Turkey Run for the Warrior Transition Battalion Soldiers and Operation North Pole. Bill also helped out with the weekly Pointman Dinners at the WTB, giving a listening ear, some past life experiences, and helping out in any way that he could. Bill gave selflessly, and everyone knew when he was around with his generosity and his exuberant personality. Bill leaves behind two children, Kyle McMichael and Kaitlynn McMichael, both of Michigan, as well are his two furbabies Nautica and Chief. He also leaves behind a host of friends and adopted family both here in this area and across the United States. Bill’s parting, leaves a big hole in the hearts of those who knew him. Virginia F. “Jean” White, age 73, of Blue Rapids, passed away peacefully at her home with family about her, on Tuesday, April 5, 2022.&nbsp; Jean was born April 25, 1948, in Omaha, Nebraska. She is the daughter of James and Irene F. (Jarzynka) Whitley.Jean had worked at Cambridge Place as a Certified Medicine Aide for twenty years, retiring in 2020.&nbsp; She loved her children and grandkids.&nbsp; She especially enjoyed playing Santa Claus. Marcella McMahon, 91, of Abilene passed away Thursday, April 7, 2022. She was born November 29, 1930 in Falls City, Nebraska, the daughter of Patrick and Marcella (Coyne) McMahon. Marcella grew up in Falls City, Nebraska. The family moved to Abilene when she was a senior in High School. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1948 and continued her education and graduated from Mount St. Scholastica College in Atchison, Kansas in 1952 with an Education Degree. 

Marcella taught second grade for 44 years at Garfield Elementary. She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Retired Teachers Association. Marcella is survived by her brother, Patrick McMahon Jr, of Hutchinson, Kansas and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Ella Jo Callahan, sister, Mary Neerman and brother-in-law Charles Neerman; sister, Marjorie Caldarulo and brother-in-law Dominick Caldarulo; sister-in-law Carolyn McMahon; nieces Joann (Caldarulo) Link; nephewsPatrick Callahan and Eric Hammerschmidt and infant nieces Cassandra Link and Bridgette Kentopp.

&nbsp;Henry Joseph “Joey” Stazenski Jr., 68, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away on Thursday (March 3, 2022) at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center in Houston, Texas.

&nbsp;&nbsp; Born September 30, 1953 in Prescott, Arizona, Henry was the son of Henry Joseph and Marjorie Irene (Swope) Stazenski Sr.&nbsp; He married Cindy Stazenski on May 30, 1975 in Prescott, Arizona.&nbsp; She survives.

&nbsp;&nbsp; Henry served his country in the U. S. Marine Corps.

&nbsp;&nbsp; Henry loved the outdoors.&nbsp; He was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed nature by camping.&nbsp; He was a member of the Harold Johnson American Legion Post No. 172 in Wamego and the American Legion Riders.&nbsp; Henry loved spending time with his family, especially being “Papa” to his grandchildren.

&nbsp;&nbsp; Following his discharge from the Marines, Henry worked as a mechanic for the City of Prescott, AZ.&nbsp; He then became a slot machine technician and worked for the Riviera Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas for 28 years until his retirement.

&nbsp;&nbsp; Survivors include his wife, Cindy; a daughter, Naomie Stazenski Boatwright of Wamego; a son, Brian Stazenski of Salina, KS; eight grandchildren, Jasmine L. Boatwright, Marek J. Boatwright, Mary-Anne E. Stazenski, Briana J. Stazenski-Boatwright, Roy J. “R.J.” Stazenski-Boatwright, Alexandria L. Stazenski, Sabastain D. K. Danridge and Gabrielle R. Leroy Dean Jackson Jr., 62, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away Saturday, January 1, 2022 at K.U. Medical Center St. Francis Campus in Topeka, Kansas.&nbsp;

Dean was the son of Leroy Dean and Joan (Palenske) Jackson Sr. and was born on October 2, 1959 in Wamego, Kansas.&nbsp; He married Gina Rogers on October 20, 1984 in Alta Vista, Kansas. She survives.&nbsp; Dean was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church of Wamego.&nbsp;

He graduated from Wamego High School and attended Colby Community College.&nbsp; He worked for various farmers and ranchers in the area before beginning his career with the Kansas Department of Transportation in 1984.&nbsp; After 33 years of service, he retired in 2017 as an Equipment Operator Specialist.&nbsp; Even though the work was hot on summer days and cold during snowstorms, he enjoyed the camaraderie of working with his fellow co-workers.&nbsp;

Dean loved family, friends, being outside, enjoying wildlife and hunting, animals, livestock, and helping on the farm.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;He was multi-talented like his father, and could fix almost anything and everything he worked on.&nbsp; With his talent and patience, he also enjoyed doing woodworking and gunsmithing.&nbsp;&nbsp; When his children Kurtis and Emily were enrolled in the 4-H Shooting Sports program, he became an instructor and coach. He enjoyed teaching many youth throughout the years. &nbsp;Each year, Dean was actively involved with the annual fundraiser for the Flint Hills Jr. Shooter Legion.&nbsp;

Dean was a Founding member, Assistant Chief, and Treasurer for the Wabaunsee Township Fire Department No. 8 serving as a member for 31 years.&nbsp; He lived in the townsite of Wabaunsee most of his life and took pride with being able to serve on the fire department.

Survivors include his wife, Gina; son, Kurtis Jackson (Savannah) of Manhattan, KS; daughter, Emily Rolph (Marc) of Olsburg, KS; and grandson, Myles Rolph which was his pride and joy.&nbsp; Parents, Leroy and Joan Jackson, brother, Duane Jackson (Carol); and sister, DeAnn Jackson (Brad Redemer) all of&nbsp;Wamego, KS, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins that he loved dearly.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by a brother in law, Mark Morgan, and father in law, Herbert Rogers.

Cremation arrangements were in the care of Campanella &amp; Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego. Private family graveside services were held in the Wabaunsee Township Cemetery with Pastor Jim Price officiating.

The family will host a Celebration of Life with a visitation on Saturday, April 9, 2022 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the KanEquip Arena Building at the Wabaunsee County Fairgrounds in Alma, KS.&nbsp; Friends and family are invited to attend.

He enjoyed teaching many youth throughout the years. &nbsp;Each year, Dean was actively involved with the annual fundraiser for the Flint Hills Jr. Shooter Legion.&nbsp;Dean was a Founding member, Assistant Chief, and Treasurer for the Wabaunsee Township Fire Department No. 8 serving as a member for 31 years.&nbsp; He lived in the townsite of Wabaunsee most of his life and took pride with being able to serve on the fire department.Survivors include his wife, Gina; son, Kurtis Jackson (Savannah) of Manhattan, KS; daughter, Emily Rolph (Marc) of Olsburg, KS; and grandson, Myles Rolph which was his pride and joy.&nbsp; Parents, Leroy and Joan Jackson, brother, Duane Jackson (Carol); and sister, DeAnn Jackson (Brad Redemer) all of&nbsp;Wamego, KS, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins that he loved dearly.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by a brother in law, Mark Morgan, and father in law, Herbert Rogers.Cremation arrangements were in the care of Campanella &amp; Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego. Barbara Ann Runnels, 60, of Manhattan, KS, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, March 30, 2022. Cremation will take place under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home in Junction City, KS. A memorial service will be announced soon. Barbara was born February 15, 1962, in Junction City, KS, the baby girl of Elijah and Sondra (Hudley) Miller. Barbara was a beautiful, active, funny and a joy of laughter. She was high spirited woman who had a lot of pride in being in her own skin. She passed that spirit on to many other people. Barbara lived in the Junction City community for nearly sixty years. She was a large part of Junction City Middle School where she worked for a long time as para-professional. Her biggest legacy with USD #475 was assisting with the girls basketball coach. She also volunteered with the boys and girls club. She was a coach and instructor with discipline and always left her students with a smile on their face. She was certainly a Junction City Blue Jay! Barbara was a loving mother to her son Brandon Runnels. Brandon passed away June 22, 2021. Bella Mae Haynie, beloved wife and mother, passed away on April 3, 2022, at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan at the age of 96. Bella was born January 26, 1926, in Aurora, Kansas, to Ronald and Reina (Morrissette) Letourneau. She grew up on her parent’s farm in Aurora, and graduated from high school in May of 1943. The following summer, Bella studied at Kansas State University, where she received her teaching certificate, and at the age of 17, she began teaching in a one room school with 8 students. In December of 1944, Bella married Leo Wirtz and traveled with him to Chicago, Oklahoma, and Texas as he served in the US Navy during World War II. Their first son was born in November of 1945, just one day before Leo had to return to duty in Texas, pick up orders, and deploy to Panama. After the war, Bella and Leo settled in Manhattan, Kansas, where Leo received his degree in Electrical Engineering, and became a professor at Kansas State. During their 27 year marriage, they were blessed with 5 more children. Bella devoted her life to her home and family, nurturing, loving, and teaching her three sons and three daughters. Once her youngest child was well into school, Bella became a teller at Kansas State Bank, where she worked for more than 25 years... serving the community and balancing her bank drawer to the penny every day! Even while raising her family and working full time, Bella found joy in a myriad of hobbies and was never without a project. She helped design and build two of her homes, designed and crafted stained glass, sewed exquisite quilts, gardened with a passion, and painted ceramics. She loved to play bridge, regularly fed the wild birds that flocked to her yard, and in her later years enjoyed yoga and strength training at the senior center where she was an inspiration to her younger classmates. All six of Bella’s children were baptized at Seven Dolors Catholic Church and attended school there. She was a deeply spiritual woman, regularly attending mass, making holy hours, volunteering at the budget shop, and spending quiet hours at the adoration chapel. At home, she began her day with prayers, and ended it by saying her rosary at bedtime. When her husband, Leo, passed away suddenly in 1971, Bella was 45 years old, and a widow with six children. Though devastated, she persevered and was a source of strength for them. She was blessed when she eventually met Richard Haynie, and they were married in 1975. Bella and Richard were married for 47 years. They built a new home together, joined their lives and families, and deeply loved one another. Bella was an amazing, inspiring woman. She was greatly loved and will be desperately missed...but will remembered with such joy and so much gratitude for having known her. Survivors include her husband Richard of the home; five children: Ronald Wirtz (Karen) of Leawood, KS, Robert Wirtz (Fran Walker) of Atlanta, GA, Deborah Kirby (Steve) of St. George, KS, Thomas Wirtz (partner Korrina Kientz ) of Manhattan, and Patricia Wirtz (Doug Berke) of Mansfield, TX: The three additional children she gained when she married Richard: Richard M. Haynie (Babette) of Queen Creek, AZ, Susan Haynie of Norwalk, IA, and Mary Jackson (Mike) of Springfield, MO; 20 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Bella was also preceded in death by one daughter Becky Arnett; and three siblings: Raphael “Ray” and Dean Letourneau and Jean Carter. Family and friends are invited to Pray the Rosary at 9:30 A.M. Anna M. Imel, 67, died April 1, 2022, at Meadowlark Hills Nursing Home
 in Manhattan, Kansas. She was born on January 3, 1955, at Dodge City, 
Kansas the daughter of Bernardo and Anita (Herrera) Lopez. &nbsp;

She enjoyed watching television and working on word search and 
crossword puzzles in her spare time. Anna cherished the time that she 
could spend with her grandchildren.

She is survived by one daughter Katie Grote of Phillipsburg, Kansas; 
two sons Lucas Imel of Phillipsburg, Kansas and Dwight Imel Jr. of Dodge
 City as well as three granddaughters Celeste, Kadence, Blakely and four
 grandsons Carter, Emerson, Corbin and Easton.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Benny Lopez.

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Friday April&nbsp;
 8, 2022, at 10:30 AM with Mr. Dusty Cookson presiding.&nbsp; Burial will

Esteban “Steve” Anguiano, 84, of Abilene, KS passed away on April 2, 2022. Steve was born at his childhood home in Manchester, KS on December 26, 1937 via a midwife. Steve is the second oldest of ten children, five boys and five girls, born to Silvestre Anguiano and Maria “Mary” Garcia Anguiano. Steve attended Manchester Grade School, went on to attend Abilene High School and graduated high school from Dickinson County Community High School in Chapman, KS in 1956. Following his high school graduation, Steve learned the trade of finishing concrete, working on Ft. Riley and the expansion of Abilene's historic Eisenhower Library.

 Steve enlisted in the United States Army in 1960, where he served for two years. He then served a third and fourth year with the Army Reserves and National Guard. Steve’s military service took him to Fort Carson, Colorado where he worked in communications. His military service also included Wyoming and Wisconsin for two weeks each summer. Steve was very proud of his military service. Steve worked for the City of Abilene, KP&amp;L power plant, Jeffrey Energy Center, KP&amp;L and Westar, finally retiring from Oneok in 1999. Following his retirement, Steve went back to finishing concrete for people strictly by word of mouth referral. Steve married his bride, Shirley Wetzel Anguiano, on September 4, 1965. He would say that it was love at first sight. Over the next several years, Steve and Shirley had three daughters: Kari Anguiano Hinkle (Tim) of Woodbine, KS, Natalie Anguiano Strickland (Michael) of Abilene, KS, and Jennifer Anguiano (Ryan Lovig) of Manhattan, KS. Steve then became the granddad of three grandsons; Trenton Weaver (Natalie), Rowe Hinkle (Kari), Mason Hinkle (Kari), a step-granddaughter, Bryce Strickland (Natalie &amp; Michael) and finally his granddaughter who he referred to lovingly as Granddad's Little Miss Bentley, Bentley Strickland (Natalie). Steve spent many summers on the softball fields. He coached softball for the Abilene Ike’s for 25 years, taking several teams to championship games. He was the first coach for the Abilene Ike’s to go undefeated through the regular season and postseason tournament. He coached two of his daughters, Kari and Jennifer during his tenure as a coach. His final coaching season was the summer of 2001.Steve lived a full life. He married the love of his life, worked hard every day, and enjoyed his family. Steve was always striving to better himself, not just for himself but for his family. He was an incredibly hard worker, very proud, and quite a perfectionist. Steve also loved sports, especially the game of basketball and girl's softball.He had a heart to help, always helping family and neighbors when needed. Steve was a member of the St. Andrew’s church for the majority of his life and a proud lifetime member of The Knights of Columbus.

Steve is survived by his bride, Shirley, his daughters: Kari, Natalie, and Jennifer and his grandchildren. He is also survived by his nine siblings: Nellie Barrett, Lucy Davis, Phil Anguiano, Patti Anguiano, Frances Sanchez, Joe Anguiano, Junior Anguiano, David Anguiano, and Celia Gonzalas; sister in-law Karen (Ron) Timm; sister-in-law in law Orrene Wetzel, as well as many nephews and nieces, extended family and loved ones. Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Silvestre and Mary; his parents-in-law Raymond and Vivian Wetzel; brothers-in- law Sonny Davis, Gene Davis, Sam Gonzales, George Barrett, Henry Sanchez, and Kenny Wetzel; sister-in-law Kay Anguiano, nephews Greg and Dan Barrett, Matthew Sanchez, and Raymond Grimes; niece Becky Nielsen, and dear friend Kate Taylor.

Steve’s loss will resonate in our hearts and in our community. Mass of Christian Burial for Steve will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2022 at the St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Abilene with Father Peter O’Donnell as Celebrant. A parish rosary will be 6:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the church with the family receiving friends following. Steve’s final resting place will be in the Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Our beloved mother,&nbsp;Nadine Ruth Stueve, longtime resident of Wamego and active member of the Mt Calvary Lutheran Church, passed away on April 2nd, 2022. She was 91 years old.

Nadine was born May 18th, 1930, to Clarence and Esther (Snell) Karman in Junction City, Kansas. She graduated from Junction City High School in 1948 and worked as a bookkeeper for a few years.

On May 11th, 1950, she married Fred Stueve and moved to Abilene, Kansas where they lived for many years. She worked as a homemaker and her activities during this time centered around her four daughters. She served as a Girl Scout leader and was active in the PTA.

Nadine attended Kansas State University, graduating with a BS in Math Education in 1974 and an MS in Special Education in 1984. She taught in the Junction City and Manhattan school systems and enjoyed working with her math students. They appreciated her as well; she was approached many times by her former students who would thank her for being their teacher.

She played the organ at church, participated in Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML), and volunteered at the Riley County Genealogy Society located at the Riley County Historical Museum in Manhattan. Nadine and her husband, Fred, were passionate Wildcat fans and held football season tickets at Kansas State for more than 40 years, just recently turning them over to her daughters. Nadine and Fred moved to Wamego, Kansas in 1977.Nadine is survived by her four daughters: Susan Lunas, Betty D’Elosua (Ralph), Bonnie Kurka (Miro), and Nancy Dekat (Greg); seven grandchildren: Lara Schwoebel, Britainy Schwoebel, Michaela Kemp, Matthew Kurka, Andrew Stanley, Andrea Leonard, and Ashley Oliphant; and six great grandchildren: Brooke Prockish, Nautami Niedfeldt, Rylar Halverson, Harrison Kemp, Kade Oliphant, and Cora Oliphant. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Fred Stueve, her parents, Clarence and Esther Karman, and her son-in-law, Les Lunas.We will remember her smile, her love for her family, friends, and students. She made a difference in the lives of many.

Nadine Ruth Stueve

Wanda Jean Zeckser, 95, of Alma, Kansas, passed away on Friday (April 1, 2022) at Oakley Place in Topeka, Kansas.

Born June 20, 1926 in Alma, Kansas, Wanda was the daughter of Wheldon and Ethel Horne Falk. She married August Junior Zeckser on November 28, 1944 in St. John Lutheran Church in Alma. He preceded her in death on March 6, 2001.

Wanda was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church in Alma where she taught Sunday School for many years and was active with the Friendship Circle and the Quilters.&nbsp; Wanda was an accomplished quilter and enjoyed sewing and arts and crafts.

Wanda was a 1942 graduate of Alma High School. She worked as a telephone operator and then as a secretary to Dr McKnight until her marriage.&nbsp; She later was employed in various jobs at the courthouse in Alma until she and her husband moved to a farm south of Alma in 1948.&nbsp; She helped her husband on the family farm and raised her family until her children were older.&nbsp; She then drove a school bus and was employed by the State of Kansas as a Motor Carrier Inspector at the weigh station on I-70 between the Alma and McFarland exits. Following her retirement from the State in 1988 she began driving the Wabaunsee County transportation bus and medical van for more than 10 years until her retirement.

Survivors include three daughters, Charla Hess (Alan) of Alma, Jean Kartman of Topeka, KS and Joye Richardson (Mike) of Topeka, KS; a son in law, Gerald McPherson of Kansas City, KS; a daughter in law, Georgie Zeckser of Molalla, OR; eight grandchildren, MinHo Zeckser (Samantha), Ingrid Zeckser, Jennifer Ralph (Tom), Mikki Romani (Joshua), Chrissa Webster (Matthew), Jeremy Hess (Julie), Michael Richardson (Vanessa) and Christopher Kartman (Holly); nineteen great grandchildren, Reed, Mary Eleanor, Stephen, Derek, Dylan, Nikko, Josephine, Julian, Emily, Faith, Isaac, Ellery, Mary Grace, Jillian, Olivia, Cruz, June, Louis and Heidi; a brother, Paul Falk (Adeline) of Topeka, KS; two sisters in law, Shirley Falk of Harveyville, KS and Evelyn Zeckser of Alma; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Zeckser was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, August Junior; a son, Stephen D. Zeckser; a daughter, DeLois McPherson; a sister, Maureen Woellhof; and three brothers, Gene Falk, Warren Falk and Larry Falk.

Funeral services will be held at&nbsp; 11:00 a.m., Tuesday April 5, 2022&nbsp; at St. John Lutheran Church in Alma with Rev. Robert Grimm officiating.&nbsp; Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Alma.

Wanda will lie in state at St. John Lutheran Church on Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m.&nbsp; until the time of services.
