Mary Lucille (Susie) Parks, 86, Junction City, KS, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at Valley View Senior Life. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 3, 2022, at Zion United Church of Christ with Pastor Eric Graeffe officiating. A visitation will be held 4-6 p.m. Sunday, October 2, 2022 at Zion United Church of Christ. Burial will follow the service at Good Hope Cemetery rural Chapman, KS.

Mary Lucille (Susie) Price Parks, 86, was born to Irvin and Pauline Price on June 8, 1936, Piedmont, WV. She went to be with the lord and the love of her life, her husband John, on September 28, 2022 from Junction City, KS.

Susie was the daughter of a military family that traveled a lot in her younger years before settling in Ft. Riley, KS, in 1944. She was a graduate of Junction City High School.

On January 17, 1954, Susie married John William Parks in Atchison, KS. Susie was employed with Smith Drug Store in Junction City as a pharmacist assistant and later Junction City High School as a para educator for 17 years. She received the district's Shining Star Award in 1990.

Susie held many interests that included camping, her love of gardening and the beautiful flowers she tended. But her biggest love included watching her granddaughters and later great-grandchildren at their sporting events. Her favorite spot was in her chair on the bleachers at the Chapman Sports Complex with a cup of coffee.

Susie was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ and Women's Fellowship in Junction City, KS.

Survivors include Daughter Susanne (Steve) Altwegg of Chapman, KS; granddaughters, Amanda (Tyler) Hands of Garden City, KS, Lindsey (Caleb) Snider of Chapman, KS, Lacey (Kasey) Fielder of Junction City, KS; great-grandchildren, Macy, Gentry, Lainey Hands, Cade, Addy, William Snider, Grason, Lilly, Landyn Fielder.

Daughter Jaylene (Robert) Thurlow of Wakefield, KS; granddaughters Emily (Robby) Haynes of Glencoe, OK, Megan (Brandon) Reed of Olathe, KS, Laura Thurlow and fiancé Tyler Griffith of Chapman, KS; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Katie, Adalyn Haynes, Sonora Reed.

Susie is also survived by her brother James Price of Milford, KS. She was preceded in death by her husband, John William Parks; one son Ronald E. Parks of Junction City, KS, her parents; and brothers Richard Price of Canoga Park, CA and Garland (Gene) Price of Washington.

Memorials may be made to Chapman Sports Complex in Chapman, KS.
