&nbsp;Christopher Antijuan "Tiny" Purdie, 33, of Junction City, KS, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2022 at his home. Cremation will take place. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2022 at New Church of the Living God with Pastor James E. Johnson officiating. Christopher was born February 12, 1989, in Birmingham, AL the son of Christina Purdie. Christopher graduated from Junction City High School with the class of 2007. Chris worked at Smithfield in Junction City, KS for nearly ten years. Chris enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed cooking and playing video games. Chris enjoyed watching all sports. His favorite team was the University of Alabama. He was known as a gentle giant teddy bear. Chris lived for the moment and enjoyed making people laugh. He was a protector and care giver and would do anything he could. He would give his last to help anyone. He took great pride in taking care of his mother Christina who passed away March 21, 2022. Survivors include his brother, Eric B. Nabors, Jr. of Killeen, TX; one sister, Nikita N. Janice worked as a para professional educator for U.S.D.#475 in Junction City, KS. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, bird watching, camping and boating. She was very proud of her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. She was a member of the Elk's Lodge #1037 in Junction City, KS. On February 15th, 1963, she married Donald W. Greenstreet. They were blessed with three daughters, Glynis, Teresa and Julie. &nbsp; LTC (RET) Herbert D. Harris, 88, of Junction City, KS, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, KS. Cremation will take place. A graveside service with military honors will take place 10 a.m. Friday, May 20, 2022 at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery. Herbert was born November 29, 1933, in Pawtucket, R.I. the son of Herbert Darling and Evelyn Claire (LaFrance) Harris. Herbert enlisted in the United States Army on February 25, 1953. While on active duty, he graduated with honors from the St. Benedictine College in Atchison, KS. On July 31, 1976, he retired from the United States Army, a Lieutenant Colonel, in Field Artillery. Following his military service he moved with his family to Geary County where he remained the rest of his life. In late 1977, he joined the staff at Central National Bank and was employed there until 1993. He married Marie Linnea Swenson, on November 4, 1955, at Camp Funston, Fort Riley, KS. Survivors include his wife Marie of the home; one son, John P. Harris and his wife Susan of Chapman, KS; one daughter Missy Stelzner and her husband Rich of Topeka, KS; two grandsons, John L. LTC ( Ret ) Herbert Harris

Sandra Lee (Culver) Schadegg, lifetime Cimarron resident, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, May 5th, 2022.

Sandy was born September 12th, 1955, in Dodge City, Kansas, to Robert
 O. and Patricia A. (Thomas) Culver. She grew up in Cimarron, attending 
Cimarron High School, graduating in 1973. Following high school she 
attended and played basketball at Garden City Community College, 
graduating in 1975 with an associate’s degree in elementary education. 
That same year she married her high school sweetheart, Gary Lee 
Schadegg. They made Cimarron their home.

Sandy worked for Cimarron Insurance Company until 1978, following the
 birth of their first son, Mathew Robert. She had an in-home daycare for
 several years while growing their family. They had their second son, 
Michael Carl in 1979 and their third son Maxwell Lee in 1984. In 1988 
she began working in the Cimarron schools, wearing many hats, as 
lunchroom monitor, library aide and coaching volleyball, basketball and 
track.

At the age of 35, Sandy went back to school for a Bachelor's Degree 
in elementary and secondary education through Newman University in 
Wichita. She began her teaching career in Montezuma, Kansas, at the 
grade school, teaching reading and P.E. and coaching volleyball and 
basketball. She left Montezuma after 4 years of teaching, moving to 
Cimarron High School as a history teacher and volleyball coach. Sandy 
taught at Cimarron High School for 9 years. While teaching she pursued 
her Master’s Degree in Administration through Fort Hays University.

After obtaining her Master’s Degree she became principal in Bucklin, 
Kansas, at the grade school. Three years later she went on to become the
 grade school principal in Holcomb, Kansas, before returning to Cimarron
 schools 2 years later. She became a 3rd grade teacher at Cimarron 
Elementary School for 9 years until her unexpected passing.

Sandy was a strong and influential educational professional, touching
 many lives along the way. She had a passion for helping children grow, 
do the right thing and become good people. She gained respect and 
loyalty from all around her. She was well loved by her students and has 
made huge impacts on so many people’s lives. Her motto was “Not 
everything is the same, but everything should be treated equal.”

She is survived by her husband, Gary Schadegg of Cimarron, her 
brother Robert (Lori) Culver of Smithfield, UT, her sons Mathew (Stacy) 
Schadegg of Wamego, KS, Michael (Erica) Schadegg of Blue Springs, MO, 
and Maxwell (Christiana) Schadegg of Wamego, KS, and her beloved 
grandchildren, Gracie and Madilyn Schadegg, Jaxon Schadegg, and Hazel 
and Cooper Schadegg.

Sandra Lee Schadegg was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 13th, 2022,&nbsp; at the Cimarron High School Gymnasium, with David Johnson of the First

Sandra Lee Schadegg

Ernestine F.  (Eilert) Mick was born January 18, 1923, in Osborne, Kansas, the third of nine children born to Ted and Leah Mick. She died Thursday, May 5, 2022, in Manhattan, Kansas, at the age of 99.

   She went to country grade school, and later graduated from Osborne High School in 1941. She worked at the Telephone Office in Salina for about a year before moving to California.

   She married Harold Eilert on January 14, 1943, in Ocean Beach, California. Ten children were born to this union. Harold had been drafted into the army and was stationed overseas, so Ernestine, who was with child, moved to Tipton, where she lived with her Grandma Kleeman. When Harold returned from war, they settled in a home on the west side of Beloit. In 1955, they were able to trade their home and some cash to buy a farm north of Beloit. While Harold farmed with his brother Paul, Ernestine ran a dairy business, selling milk by the gallon to customers from town. Harold passed away suddenly in 1969, and Ernestine sold the dairy cattle and moved back to town.

   In 1977, she married Frowin Mick and lived near Downs, helping him on the farm and raising lots of produce in her amazing, large garden. When Frowin died in 2002, she returned to Beloit, where she lived many years enjoying her church, volunteering, and playing cards and dominoes with her many friends and family.

   Faith and prayer have always been very important, and her family has been blessed by her saying many rosaries dedicated to any one in need of prayer.

   She moved to Manhattan in 2018 to live with her daughter and son-in-law, followed by time residing at the Resident Care Center in Beloit, then her final year back in Manhattan under the loving care of her daughter.

   Ernestine was a member of the St. John’s Ladies Guild, Legion of Mary, and the VFW Auxiliary. She also volunteered at the Hospital Gift Shop, Food Pantry, and led the rosary at the Resident Care Center for many years.

   In addition to her husbands, Harold and Frowin, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Jim and Melvin; and her son-in-law, Michael Marks.

   Ernestine is survived by her children, Steve and wife Sandy Eilert of Sedgwick, John and wife Sharon Eilert of Beloit, Larry and wife Karen Eilert of Wichita, Jan Marks and husband Bob Bramhall of Manhattan, Becky Braley and husband Bill of Manhattan, Marti McElroy and husband Wayne of Randall, Judy Tracy and husband Bob of Wichita, and Ted and wife Sabra Eilert of Derby; 20 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren, with twins on the way; and a host of other relatives and friends.

   Funeral services will be at 10 AM Thursday, May 12 at the St. John's Catholic Church in Beloit. A rosary service will be at 7 PM Wednesday at the Roberts Family Funeral Home, &amp; visitation will be from 1 PM until the rosary service begins on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Church or the NCK Wellness Center.

Ernestine F. Mick

Merle O. “Bones” Nay, 91, died May 6, 2022, at Good Samaritan Society
 – Hutchinson Village. He was born July 25, 1930, in Wichita, to Harold 
S. and Helen J. (McCormick) Nay.

Bones graduated from Wichita North High School in 1949, where he was 
president of his senior class. He attended Northwestern University 
before joining the United States Marine Corps in 1950. After his 
discharge in 1953, Bones attended Kansas State University and graduated 
in 1957.

He coached and taught in three state high schools, served one year as
 Activities Director at Hutchinson High School, four years as Athletic 
Director and Head Football Coach at Butler County Community College, 
Athletic Director at St. Mary of the Plains College in Dodge City, 
Athletic Director at Dodge City Community College, and Assistant 
Athletic Director at Kansas State University. Bones also served as State
 Director of the Kansas Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He has given 
over 300 presentations to a wide variety of events throughout the 
Midwest.

After retirement, Bones received his pastoral license and served as 
Senior Adult Pastor at First Church of the Nazarene in Hutchinson.

In 1952, he married Georgia Norene Prock in Wichita. They shared 66 years of marriage before her death on April 29, 2019.

Bones is survived by: his daughter, Cynde Kitch (Rick) of Hutchinson;
 grandsons, Ross Kitch of Hutchinson, Scott Kitch (Andrea) of Manhattan;
 step-grandchildren, Junilda Scribner (Daniel), Jeremy Tucker (Toni); 
great-granddaughters, Liby Lee Kitch, Kinley Grace Kitch; 
great-grandson, Kasen Scott Kitch; and step-great-grandchildren, Alex 
Marie, Talan, and Ty Scribner.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Christopher Nay.

Cremation has taken place. Celebration of Life service will be 10 
a.m. Friday, May 13, 2022, at First Church of the Nazarene, 4290 N. 
Monroe, Hutchinson. Military honors will be conducted by the United 
States Marine Corps honor guard. The service will be livestreamed and

 – Hutchinson Village. He was born July 25, 1930, in Wichita, to Harold 
S. and Helen J. (McCormick) Nay.Bones graduated from Wichita North High School in 1949, where he was 
president of his senior class. He attended Northwestern University 
before joining the United States Marine Corps in 1950. After his 
discharge in 1953, Bones attended Kansas State University and graduated 
in 1957.He coached and taught in three state high schools, served one year as
 Activities Director at Hutchinson High School, four years as Athletic 
Director and Head Football Coach at Butler County Community College, 
Athletic Director at St. Mary of the Plains College in Dodge City, 
Athletic Director at Dodge City Community College, and Assistant 
Athletic Director at Kansas State University. Bones also served as State
 Director of the Kansas Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He has given 
over 300 presentations to a wide variety of events throughout the 
Midwest.After retirement, Bones received his pastoral license and served as 
Senior Adult Pastor at First Church of the Nazarene in Hutchinson.In 1952, he married Georgia Norene Prock in Wichita. They shared 66 years of marriage before her death on April 29, 2019.Bones is survived by: his daughter, Cynde Kitch (Rick) of Hutchinson;
 grandsons, Ross Kitch of Hutchinson, Scott Kitch (Andrea) of Manhattan;
 step-grandchildren, Junilda Scribner (Daniel), Jeremy Tucker (Toni);

Norma Jeane Crain, 94, of Wamego, Kansas, formally of Manhattan, KS passed away on Sunday (May 1, 2022) at Good Samaritan Society-Valley Vista in Wamego.

Born January 25, 1928 in Harrisonville, Missouri, Jeane was the daughter of Charlie Booker and Josie Agnes (Cantrell) Luther. She married Wilse Earl Crain on August 17, 1944 in Harrisonville, Missouri. He preceded her in death on October, 26 1995.

Jeane was a longtime and active member of College Heights Baptist Church in Manhattan. She was also a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. &nbsp;She was an avid reader and loved arts and crafts, sewing, quilting and crocheting. She loved helping others and was “Mom” to many of the neighborhood children. Many family and friends will fondly remember her as “Munner”, the name given to her over 50 years ago.

Jeane sold Avon and provided childcare in her home for many years but her greatest treasure was her family and all the times they spent together.

Survivors include four daughters, Barbara Kesner of Overland Park, KS, Terri Bruyere of Wamego, KS, Sharon Daniels of Wamego, KS and Lynn Crain (Richard Grime) of Westmoreland, KS; eleven grandchildren, Brandy Goheen, Angie Curtis (Jon), Matt Booth (Jen), Frank Daniels (Randi), Wilse Daniels (Bambi), Mason Kesner, Roger Crain (Denise), Michelle Williams (Darian), Josie Truitt (Michael), Lena Feldkamp (Brad), Charlie Crain, twenty eight loving great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Crain was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilse; a son, Wilse “Butch” Crain; a daughter, Carolyn Bradshaw; a grandson, Alex Goheen; and a brother, Charles Luther.

A service to celebrate the life of Norma will be held Thursday (May 12, 2022) at 2:00 p.m. at the Campanella &amp; Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego with Pastor Tim Gotchey officiating.&nbsp; The family will meet with friends on Thursday (May 12, 2022) from 1:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.

&nbsp;Gerald “Jerry” Dale Lindeman, age 88, of Manhattan, Kansas, died Tuesday May 3, 2022 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan. He was born on February 24, 1934 in Satanta, Kansas, the son of Walter and Helen (Jacobs) Lindeman. Jerry attended schools in Sublette and graduated from Sublette High School with the class of 1952. He then attended Kansas State University and earned his Bachelors Degree in Business. After college Jerry entered the U.S. Army. He served during the Korean Conflict from 1956-1958. He returned home after the army to work on the family farm. He went to work for Farm Bureau and worked for many years as an insurance adjuster and agent. Jerry worked in Great Bend, Garden City, Sublette and Cimarron. He was in Cimarron when he retired in 1996 and then later moved to Manhattan. On December 11, 1960 in Great Bend, Kansas, Jerry was united in marriage to Carma Goodwin. She survives at their home in Manhattan. Farming and life on the family farm was an important part of Jerry’s life. A day at the farm with his family and doing the farm chores was the best day anyone could have according to Jerry. In addition to his wife Carma, Jerry is survived by his children: Lori Rene` Lindeman, Brad Lee Lindeman, Traci Jo Woods (L.T.), and Todd Eric Lindeman; also, his grandson, Travis Dale Lindeman (Katy), and his great-grandson, Thomas David Lindeman. &nbsp;Kyler Bruce Alderson, 25, of Evans, Colorado, and formerly of Wamego, Kansas, passed away Monday, April 25, in Idaho from injuries sustained from a work-related accident.

&nbsp; &nbsp;Kyler was born on November 3rd, 1996, to Corey and Jane Alderson. He was the younger brother to Rikki (Alderson) Seeberger and a proud big brother to Ryann Alderson. Kyler spent his early childhood in Holton, KS until 2002 when he moved to his hometown of Wamego, KS. His childhood revolved around little league football, baseball, and basketball, all of which provided him with lifelong friends, family, and mentors.&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp;Kyler graduated from Wamego High School in 2015 and was heavily involved in high school athletics including football, basketball, and baseball. He proudly held the role of QB1 for the&nbsp;

varsity football team and achieved honors including 2013 All-State Honorable Mention Quarterback, 2X All NCKL kicker, all-league quarterback, and 2014 All-Class 4A-II quarterback.

&nbsp; &nbsp;Following high school, he attended Hutchison Community College on a football scholarship in the fall of 2015 and later transferred to Highland Community College in the spring of 2016. Kyler attended Kansas State University for two semesters and was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Kyler’s biggest academic accomplishment came in 2020 when he graduated from Manhattan Area Technical College from their Electric Power and Distribution program.

&nbsp; &nbsp;Kyler always had a love for the mountains. He spent many spring breaks on family ski trips in Colorado and always said that he would live in Colorado someday.&nbsp; Upon graduation, Kyler accepted a job as an apprentice lineman with Altitude Energy and moved to Evans, CO just a couple weeks later, where he pursued a career as a lineman. Kyler had many co-workers who became dear friends. Kyler took pride in his career and the work he and his crew did. He never was the type of person who could work the typical 9-5 office job, so it was fitting when the opportunity came available for him to move to his favorite state and pursue a career that was physically challenging, allowing him to be outdoors and to travel the country.

&nbsp; &nbsp;Kyler loved being outdoors. He grew up attending annual fishing and hunting trips with his Grandpa Arnie, dad, and uncle, as well as annual skiing trips with his Grandpa Bruce and family. Whether it be “Church ball” with his high school best friends, a good old-fashioned day party, attending a sporting event or enjoying some live music with friends, Kyler could always be found outside.&nbsp;

&nbsp;Kyler was the perfect combination of ornery and loving. His favorite way of showing his sisters that he loved them was by picking on them but would always end a call with a “love you.”&nbsp; He was weird and goofy with the most contagious smile and laugh. People gravitated toward Kyler because of his positive energy.&nbsp; Kyler was a hard worker and stubborn. If there was something he wanted to do, he was going to make sure that it happened. Kyler was a committed friend. Kyler was always the life of the party and made sure that everybody’s glass was always full and that their hands were never empty, even if that was at the expense of his bank account.

&nbsp; &nbsp;Kyler was intentional and loved his family so much. Whether it was his weekly phone calls or texts with his parents, grandparents, and sisters, or a simple “good luck” text before a sporting event, he made sure people knew he was thinking of them.&nbsp;

&nbsp;Kyler is preceded in death by his two Grandfathers, Arnold (Arnie) Alderson and Bruce Cleveland. He is survived by both parents, Corey, and Jane Alderson, two siblings, Ryann Alderson, and Rikki Seeberger, one brother-in-law, Zach Seeberger, his beloved dog, Delilah, Grandmothers Dixie Alderson, and Gretchen Cleveland, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Kyler Bruce Alderson 

William Douglas “Doug” Wenderott, 65, of Alma, Kansas, died unexpectedly, Sunday, April 24, 2022, at his home. He was a life-long resident of the community.

Doug was born on May 10, 1956, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of William B. and Janet A. (Fulton) Wenderott. He attended local grade school and graduated from Alma High School in 1974. He then attended Pratt Community College studying agriculture.

Doug was a rancher his entire adult life, working the family ranch west of Alma. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and any activity that involved his children or grandchildren. He was a “Jack of All Trades” and was known to be able to fix most anything. He was skilled in metal work, welding, and woodworking. Doug was an avid Jayhawk fan and also enjoyed watching the Chiefs and Royals play.

Doug married Christine Berroth on August 10, 1985, in Alma. She survives at their home.

Doug is also survived by his mother; Janet Wenderott, Alma, his children; Adam Wenderott (Jennifer), Alma, Todd Wenderott, Alma, and Jill Wenderott (Bryan VanSaders), Willow Springs, Illinois; his grandchildren, Hannah (Mitch), Tate, and Hudson; his sisters; Karen Vickery (Tim), Dallas, Texas and Jane Stuart (James), Plano, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. William Douglas “Doug” Wenderott, 65, of Alma, Kansas, died unexpectedly, Sunday, April 24, 2022, at his home. He was a life-long resident of the community.Doug was born on May 10, 1956, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of William B. and Janet A. (Fulton) Wenderott. He attended local grade school and graduated from Alma High School in 1974. He then attended Pratt Community College studying agriculture.Doug was a rancher his entire adult life, working the family ranch west of Alma. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and any activity that involved his children or grandchildren. He was a “Jack of All Trades” and was known to be able to fix most anything. He was skilled in metal work, welding, and woodworking. Doug was an avid Jayhawk fan and also enjoyed watching the Chiefs and Royals play.Doug married Christine Berroth on August 10, 1985, in Alma. She survives at their home.Doug is also survived by his mother; Janet Wenderott, Alma, his children; Adam Wenderott (Jennifer), Alma, Todd Wenderott, Alma, and Jill Wenderott (Bryan VanSaders), Willow Springs, Illinois; his grandchildren, Hannah (Mitch), Tate, and Hudson; his sisters; Karen Vickery (Tim), Dallas, Texas and Jane Stuart (James), Plano, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Larry Eugene Rusink, 76, of Manhattan, and formerly of Omaha, NE, passed away late Friday, April 22, 2022, at the Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri. Larry was born in Norton, Kansas on October 19, 1945, the son of the late Harley and Wilma (Vermass) Rusink. He attended schools in Norton, Council Grove, and graduated from Frankfort High School in 1963. He received his bachelor's degree in Accounting from Kansas State University in 1968. He was married on April 20, 1968, to Shirley Ann Suther for 54 yrs. They were married in the Saint Columbkille Catholic Church in Blaine, Kansas. He started his career at Farm Bureau as a computer programmer. He moved to Omaha, NE, and finished his career as an IT Project Manager for First Data Corporation. Larry and Shirley retired in Manhattan, Kansas in 2014. He was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Manhattan and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Larry enjoyed attending Kansas State athletic events, gardening and being outdoors, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Larry is survived by his wife, Shirley of their home; son, Chad Michael Rusink, of Nottingham, MD; a daughter, Robin Renee (Ryan) Symes, of Overland Park, four grandchildren: McKenzie Rusink, Isabella Rusink, Bailey Symes, and Keagan Symes. Linda Lee McClung, 79, passed away on March 1, 2022, at Good Samaritan Society-Valley Vista in Wamego, Kansas. The daughter of Bob and Gladys Hooton, Linda was born on June 18, 1942, in Niles, Michigan. She spent her infant through early grade school years in the small resort village of Hudson Lake, Indiana. Her father’s work as a successful salesman for Jewel Tea Company brought the family to Illinois and finally to Missouri. Linda excelled in music and art. Following her high school graduation, Linda was hired by Hallmark Cards, Inc. She worked in the Hallmark Lithography Department in Kansas City, Missouri. It was during this time, she met her first husband, Delbert D. Taylor. They moved with their newborn son Scott to Manhattan, Kansas in 1965. Their second child Rashelle was born in 1968 in Manhattan. After a divorce, Linda met her second husband Jim McClung while square dancing. Jimmy passed away from cancer in 2005. Linda’s adult life was centered around art, writing, dancing, music, theater, travel, and enjoying her children and grandchildren. She participated in numerous social groups. She was a member of American Legion Post 17 Auxiliary and Dance Club 2000. At Riley County Senior Service Center, she helped with Meals on Wheels and led a memoir writing group for many years. She published her memoirs, From My Perspective and continued writing until her passing. She was an active member of Sedalia Community Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Gladys Hooton and her husband, Jim McClung. She is survived by her loving companion Donald L. Zehr, Sr.; her children, Scott Taylor (Lynn) of Grovetown, Georgia, and her daughter Rashelle Dillon (Joe) of Manhattan; her siblings, Russell Hooton (Sandra), William “Bill” Hooton (Shelley), Randall Hooton (Sharon) and sister Kathy Edwards. Her beloved grandchildren are Amanda Reader (Andrew) of Lafayette, Indiana, Danielle Dillon and Noah Dillon of Manhattan, and step-grandchildren, Jessica Porter (Kevin) and their children, Linda’s step-great-grandchildren: Clayton, Bradley, and Alexandria “Lexi”, and Brandon Pope (Marissa). She also leaves behind many dear friends who remember her for her laughter, steady hand, and joy of life. He was born on June 8, 1943, in Wilson, KS, the son of Harry &amp; Guela (Westphall) McReynolds. He graduated from Wilson High School in 1961. Wayne served in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1963, and was honorable discharged as an E-4. He was a warehouse manager in Great Bend, KS for Harbison-Fischer, Inc. for 35 years. After retirement, he moved to Manhattan and worked for Job Corps. Wayne was a public-spirited man and a fervent patriot, donating his time and talents to numerous veteran’s organizations. He served as a state, post, and district Commander for the American Legion. Additionally, he was part of the 40 and 8 Grande De KS and Sons of the American Legion. Even with all his service for veteran’s organizations, he also found time to be the Quivira District Executive for the Boy Scouts and a member of the Barton County Sheriff’s Reserve. On March 25, 1962, Wilson, Kansas, he was united in marriage to Judith K. Nelson. Survivors include his wife Judy of the home; two sons: Shawn McReynolds and his fiancée Gaytha Ziegelmeier of Ada, OK and Shane McReynolds and his fiancée Ruth Adams of Manhattan, KS; three granddaughters: Abigail, Allison, and Brooke McReynolds; and three sisters: Lois Hickey and Evelyn Ray both of Inman, KS, and LaVona Ruark of Sterling, CO. Charlotte Jolene Lytle, 83, passed away on April 23, 2022, at Valley View Senior Life, Junction City, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Cremation will take place. A memorial service will be held August 6, 2022.

She was born to Albert and Iva (Cooper) Stevenson on June 27, 1938.

Charlotte was a fun loving, generous person who loved all the simple things in life. Driving by a patch of wildflowers would always require an immediate stop. She could look at and pick those beauties for hours and even made pictures with real pressed flowers. She loved singing and had a lovely voice. She was really in her height of glory with her family singing and all taking turns. Charlotte never needed material things to make her happy, just love, hugs, and togetherness. She was never afraid to love life and often could see it through the eyes of a child. She was constantly dancing, singing, eating candy, and being carefree. She was a homemaker most of her life with a few jobs here and there.

Charlotte was married a couple of times and those marriages produced five children: Tim Lytle (Debbie) of Abilene, KS, Monty Lytle (Jan) of Salina, KS, Guy Lytle (Vicki) of Sacramento, CA, Charles Fletcher (Sheng Yen) of Beaumont, TX, and a beautiful daughter, Gaylene Beach, who passed away August 11, 1996. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who loved her as that Silly Aunt Char.

She will be greatly missed but knowing she is hugging her daughter once again gives us comfort.

Darrell Dennis Goss, 84, died on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at his home 
in Finney County. He was born on August 6, 1937, at Garden City the son 
of Dennis Clarence &amp; Lena Alice (Smith) Goss. He married JoAnn 
Pearl Curtis on February 16, 1958, at Garden City. She died on July 16, 
2018. 
Darrell graduated from Garden City High School and stayed on the family 
farm where he was a lifelong Farmer-Stockman. He was a member of First 
United Methodist Church where he served on numerous committees and 
boards. He also was a member of the Kansas Pork Producers Council and 
had been awarded Pork Producer of the Year and he and his wife had 
received the Farmers of the Year award from the Soil Conservation 
Service. Darrell was very involved in 4-H and started the Finney County
 Livestock Auction 44 years ago and the Pig Spring Show. He also 
sponsored many 4-h and Extension events. He enjoyed hunting, fishing 
and his flower garden but especially his family activities. 
He is survived by his Children- Sheryl Goss of Garden City, Wayne &amp; 
Gwen Goss of Garden City, Gaylene Trickey of Garden City and Loren &amp;

Darrell Dennis Goss

Frederick “Dwaine” Shorman passed to his heavenly choir on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at the age of 91.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Dwaine was born on July 22, 1930, the second son and third child of 
William Frederick and Lauretta Victoria Sumners Shorman in Morganville, 
Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

His elementary years were spent at Morganville and Clay Center 
Schools.&nbsp; He was president of his senior class and enjoyed sports, 
drama, and music. Dwaine graduated from Wakefield High School in 1948. 
He earned his private airplane pilot’s license in 1968 and later earned 
an Aircraft and Powerplant Mechanics license from Kansas State Tech 
Institute.&nbsp;

In 1953, he married Rosalie Woellhof of Clay Center and farming 
continued to be their way of life.&nbsp; He was a farm owner, manager, 
operator and mechanic for 53-plus years. &nbsp;Dwaine and Rosalie lived on 
their family homestead for 64 years, the same farm his 
great-grandparents owned. He enjoyed remodeling and upgrading their 
family home which was built in 1874. &nbsp;He took much pride and 
satisfaction in continuing this farming tradition of over 100 years.&nbsp; 
Other work accomplishments: worked ten years for the ASCS, represented 
Vigortone Feed and Archer Oil, and worked at Fullington 
Lumber.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Music was the enjoyment of his life and a song was always on his 
lips.&nbsp; His music career began in high school and developed into solo 
work, quartets, church choir, leading the singing and fulfilling 
requests at weddings, funerals, churches and community events.&nbsp; Playing 
the trombone and cornet was an added compliment to his musical 
accolades.

Dwaine enjoyed sharing his love of sports with his three boys.&nbsp;&nbsp; The 
family enjoyed flying, baseball, basketball, boating, waterskiing, snow 
skiing and riding motorcycles.

Some of Dwaine’s most memorable experiences involve a missionary work
 tour to Kenya, Africa, ministering along with his wife Rosalie, with 
the local Marriage Encounter group called “Flame," and members of the 
Holiday Ramblers Sunflower RV Club.

As a young man of 19, he committed his life to Christ.&nbsp; Dwaine was a 
member of the First Baptist Church and was a spiritual leader. He was 
involved in the music and drama ministry, taught Sunday school classes, 
and served as a deacon.

Dwaine loved being a family man.&nbsp;&nbsp; He was so proud of their three 
sons, Gary, Darcy and Mark, their wives, grandchildren, and great 
grandchildren.&nbsp; He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, 
brother, a good friend and neighbor.&nbsp;&nbsp; He will be missed by those who 
knew him as a friendly, kind, helpful, and caring person.

Dwaine was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Betty Jean, 
and brothers Don and Robert. &nbsp;He is survived by his wife Rosalie, his 
three sons and their families, two sisters, sister-in-law, and numerous 
nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 am Friday, April 29, 2022, at the 
First Baptist Church in Clay Center with Pastor Matthew Coleman 
officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 am until 10:30 am
 on Friday at the church. Burial will be at 3 pm in the Fairview 
Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church or to Voice of the 
Martyrs and may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.

Frederick 'Dwaine' Shorman

Carol Jean Grauerholz Jacobs, 77, of Smith Center, Kansas passed away 
peacefully on April 21, 2022, surrounded by family after a long battle 
with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia at Smith County Memorial Hospital, 
Smith Center.
 She was born on April 23, 1944 in Kensington, Kansas, the daughter 
of Louie and Zelma Diercks Grauerholz. She was baptized on May 21, 1944
 and confirmed on March 22, 1959 at St. John Lutheran Church in 
Kensington. Carol grew up in Kensington, Kansas and graduated from 
Kensington High School in 1962. 
 On September 23, 1962, Carol and Doug Terrill were united in 
marriage at St. John Lutheran Church in Kensington. They were blessed 
with two boys, John and Jay.
 On September 15, 1979, Carol and Kenneth Jacobs were united in 
marriage at American Lutheran Church in Smith Center. They were blessed
 with one boy, Michael.
 Carol worked at various bookkeeping jobs throughout her working 
life. After moving to Smith Center in 1972, she started working at 
Boogaarts grocery store. Later on, she worked at Smith County Implement
 and served as the financial secretary at the American Lutheran Church 
for many years.
 Carol enjoyed all of her grandkids activities as they grew up. She 
also was very active in the American Lutheran Church. Also, she was a 
big sports fan, following all of the local sports teams. She always 
knew what games were next to watch on TV, keeping a list of games handy 
so she didn’t miss any of her teams to watch. 
 Carol is survived by her husband of 42 years, Kenneth of the home.

and Michael Jacobs of Smith Center, KS. Grandchildren, Trenton (Kari)

and Addisyn Terrill of Manhattan, KS, Beckett and Braelyn Terrill of 
Wamego, KS, Kaylyn (Brell) Spiess of Mankato, KS and Caden and 
Kristopher Jacobs of Smith Center; brother Doc (Bev) Grauerholz of 
Kensington; sister Marjorie Conrad of Gaylord.. 
 Carol was preceded in death by her parents Louie and Zelma 
Grauerholz and brother-in-laws Dean Jacobs, Gale Cook and Lawrence 
Conrad.
