MANHATTAN - Riley County Police have arrested a third suspect in the February 5, 2022 homicide of Joshua Wardi in Aggieville.

27-year-old Edward Wright of Junction City was arrested on February 7th, 2023, for his involvement in the homicide.

Wright was arrested on a Riley County District Court (RCDC) Warrant for first-degree murder and three counts of aggravated assault.

Wright remains confined to the Riley County Jail on a total bond of $500,000.

Police previously arrested 24-year-old Jordan Prather of Junction City on January 7, 2023 on a RCDC warrant with the same charges as Wright.

Also arrested in connection with the homicide is 19-year-old Tremelle R. Montgomery of Fort Riley on February 9, 2022.

MANHATTAN - On Tuesday, February 7, 2023, a dozen community members voiced concerns about the Aggieville Parking Garage fees, specifically for employees of Aggieville businesses during the public comment section of the Manhattan City Commission Meeting.

Following the more than 45 minutes of public comments, Mayor Mark Hatesohl was the first commissioner to express the need to revisit the assessment of fees in the Aggieville Parking Garage to employees of businesses in the district.

The commissioners did not set a date to revisit the discussion about the parking garage fees for the employees of businesses in Aggieville at the Tuesday night meeting.

MANHATTAN - <a href="https://www.facebook.com/specialolympicskansas">Special Olympics Kansas</a> returns to the Tuttle Creek State Park for the annual Polar Plunge fundraiser event.

On Sunday, February 12th, registration begins at 10:30 am, with the costume contest at 11:45 am.

<a href="https://fb.me/e/2G8C0f2IB">Polar Plunge participants</a> will start their plunge into the the River Pond at 12:00 pm.

Money raised at the Polar Plunge event will go towards Special Olympics Kansas athletes and their participation in events throughout the year.

There are more than 4,000 Special Olympics athletes across the state of Kansas.&nbsp;

Fort Riley Legal Assistance Office will no longer provide tax preparation assistance.

Due to the increased workload in recent years, the Judge Advocate General made the decision to stop providing tax preparation services Army-wide.

Soldiers, families, and retirees within first year of separation can find tax preparation assistance through Military One Source. MilTax does not serve retirees beyond their first year of separation nor veterans. Tax preparation assistance is also available through the Internal Revenue Service.

The Fort Riley Legal Assistance Office is unable to provide previous clients with copies of their prior year tax returns or any information contained in the return.  Please contact IRS.gov for a tax transcript.

JUNCTION CITY - Junction City Police Department announced Jeana Foley, who was <a href="https://jcpost.com/posts/45465ba4-0e32-472f-b7cd-9c00ed6b2545">wanted for abducting her three children in December</a>, has turned herself in at the Junction City Police Department on February 6th at approximately 1:00 pm.

All three children, 6-year-old Rosie, 5-year-old Camden and 3-year old Genevieve were returned to the Junction City Police Department, by Foley, safe and unharmed.

Foley was arrested on 3 counts of aggravated interference with parental custody, and is being held at the Geary County Detention Facility.

Just before midnight Friday, officers filed a report for aggravated assault of law enforcement in the 100 block of Bluemont Ave. in Manhattan, according to the Riley County Police Department activity report.

Three officers reported a 32-year-old man pulled out a sharp object and threatened them while they were investigating a verbal argument between the man and a woman. 

Police arrested 32-year-old Exzavien Hunter of Manhattan at the scene on requested charges of aggravated assault of LEO and transported to the Pottawatomie County Jail.&nbsp; He is no longer in custody, according to online jail records.

GEARY COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities continue their investigation of an alleged abduction and are asking the public for help to find three children.

According to Junction City Police, on December 21, Jeana Foley abducted her children identified as 6-year-old Rosie Peterson, 5-year-old Camden Peterson and 3-year-old Genevieve Peterson

On Jan. 5, a felony warrant was issued for Foley's arrest. On Wednesday, Junction City police asked the public to call 911 if you have any&nbsp; information to help bring these kids home. Police released no additional details in the case.

MANHATTAN - Kansas State University trauma specialist, Briana Nelson Goff, explores the effects of war deployment and trauma on military couples in her newest book,&nbsp;"Bulletproof Vows: Stories of Couples Navigating Military Deployments and Life's Battles."

The book shares the experiences of eight Army couples, who were stationed at either Fort Riley or Fort Leavenworth, both in Kansas.

The couples and families share their highlights and resiliency, before, during and after deployments over a ten year period, from their initial interviews in 2005 to their final interviews in 2015.

"Everyone who has served — and anyone who loves someone who has served — knows that war changes people, whether overseas or back at home," said Nelson Goff. "These couples survived the deployments and navigated life's battles, forging bulletproof vows along their extraordinary journeys."

MANHATTAN - Kansas State University continues to spread suicide prevention and mental health awareness by partnering with <a href="https://www.thebandanaproj.org/">'The Bandana Project.'</a>

THRIVE Navigators* are hosting five training sessions during spring semester due to the increased demand for open training.

Individuals and groups are encouraged to<a href="https://kstate.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_cVn07xYvt9oWUBg?Q_CHL=qr"> sign-up</a> to attend a training session.

Training sessions have already started, with the first one being held on January 31st.&nbsp;

The green bandana is intended to be tied to a backpack as a sign of solidarity.&nbsp;*The THRIVE Navigators, a departmental student organization under the leadership of Lafene Health Center, are dedicated to bringing awareness to mental health resources on campus as well as reducing the stigma that surrounds mental health.
