MANHATTAN, Kan.&nbsp;– Kansas State head coach&nbsp;Bruce Weber&nbsp;announced the signing of Wisconsin prep standout&nbsp;Logan Landers&nbsp;(Cedarburg, Wisconsin/Cedarburg)&nbsp;to a National Letter of Intent on the first day of the Fall National Signing Period on Wednesday (November 11).

A 6-foot-10, 230-pound center, Landers is considered one of the top high school players in the state of Wisconsin as he enters his senior season at Cedarburg High School, which currently ranks No. 8 in the preseason poll of Division 2 schools. He is rated as the 30th-best center in the country as well as the fifth-best player in Wisconsin by 247Sports. He is a consensus 3-star prospect by both 247Sports and Rivals. In addition, he is a highly-regarded baseball pitching prospect who had a career 1.94 ERA in high school.

“Obviously, we are really excited to welcome Logan and his family to K-State,” said Weber. “One of our main areas of focus in this recruiting period was getting another skilled big man – one that can give us some different options, alongside (sophomore transfer) Kaosi (Ezeagu), (freshman) Davion (Bradford) and (sophomore tranfer) Carlton (Linguard, Jr.). Logan is a very, very skilled player. He is a good passer and can do a lot of things with the basketball. He has really developed into a very good 3-pointer shooter, which will give us even more versatility on the court.”

Landers transferred to Cedarburg in the Spring of 2020 after three standout seasons (2017-20) at Brookfield Academy in Brookfield, Wisconsin, helping the Blue Knights to a 56-18 (.757) overall record and two appearances in the WIAA Regional Final (2018, 2020). He scored more than 1,000 points (1,082) in his career on 50 percent shooting (417-of-834) and averaged a near double-double (14.8 ppg., 9.4 rpg.) in 73 games played.

In addition, Landers collected 28 double-double (points-rebounds) in his career at Brookfield Academy, including 18 as a sophomore in 2018-19. He also had 14 games of at least 20 points, including a career-high 32 points against powerhouse Milwaukee King in the first game of the 2019-20 season.

Landers is a three-time Second Team All-Midwest Classic Conference selection (2018, 2019, 2020), while he was an honorable mention pick to the&nbsp;Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel&nbsp;All-Area team in 2019.

“In my heart, it was K-State,” said Landers. “I need to follow what I want to do in my heart. K-State is an elite top-level school, and they are in my heart, so that’s the school that I want to be and where I want to win.

“College is going to be grind no matter where you go, whether you are playing Division I sports or not. The guys (at K-State) are going to be there for you – they are great teammates – and you have a great coaching staff, so I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity. There is ‘no lose’ in this situation. I just had to get on to this opportunity while I had the chance.”

As a junior in 2019-20, Landers led Brookfield Academy to the WIAA Regional Final, where they lost to The Prairie School, 76-71, on March 7 to finish the season with a 16-8 record. He averaged 18.8 points on 46.1 percent shooting (166-of-360), including 35.8 percent (49-of-137) from 3-point range, with a team-best 9.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 24 games played. He posted nine double-doubles on the season to go with nine games of 20 or more points, including a 26-point, 14-rebound, 5-assist performance against The Prairie School in the Regional Final.

His junior season came on the heels of stellar sophomore season in 2018-19, in which, he averaged a double-double in helping the Blue Knights to a 20-6 overall record. He averaged 14.2 points on 48.1 percent shooting (143-of-297) with a team-best 12.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.1 blocks in 25 games played. His 12.5 rebounds per game ranked 10th&nbsp;in the state. He collected 18 double-doubles on the season and had four games of 20 or more points.

Among his biggest games as a sophomore was a season-high 29-point effort on 13-of-18 shooting against HOPE Christian on February 15, 2019 that came with 15 rebounds, along with an all-around effort of 13 points, 16 rebounds, 5 steals and 4 assists against conference champion St. John’s NW on February 2, 2019.

“The thing that I want to develop the most (in college) is that ruthless mindset of grabbing every single rebound that I can and when I get it in the post just being an absolute bully,” said Landers. “I want to do all the stuff that most people don’t like to do. I want to get the rebounds. I want to do the dirty stuff that a lot of people don’t like to do that will make me a better player and a better teammate to help us win games.”

Landers continued his development on the basketball court during the Summer of 2020 when he played for one of the top AAU programs in the country in Phenom Team Herro EYBL led by head coach&nbsp;Antonio Curro. He played in several events for Phenom, including the NY2LA Sports Grassroots Showdown Series in August and the Grassroots Showcase in September. His Phenom team included some of the top players in the country, including fellow Big 12 signee&nbsp;Tyrese Hunter&nbsp;of Iowa State.

“We recruit all across the country and (associate head coach)&nbsp;Chris Lowery&nbsp;got a call from Coach (Antonio) Curro telling us about Logan,” said Weber. “Logan played for Coach Curro’s Phenom squad, which is one of the most talented AAU teams in the country, and that experience has helped continue his development as a basketball player. Logan ended up being one of our first (recruiting) Zoom calls this Spring and we really think he is great fit for our team and what we continue to build here at K-State.”

In addition to his basketball abilities, Landers is also a talented baseball pitcher, posting a career 1.94 ERA in 68.2 innings pitched with 83 strikeouts in his two seasons (2017-19) at Brookfield Academy. He also had a career .505 batting average in 34 games played with the Blue Knights with 42 RBI, 25 runs scored, nine doubles, two triples and four home runs.

“He is a highly-regarded baseball pitcher and many thought he would go to college for baseball before his development into a standout basketball player,” said Weber. “His background as a pitcher has given him great hand-eye coordinator that you don’t see in a lot of basketball players, especially big men.”

In his latest prep season in 2018-19, he collected a 4-3 record in 11 appearances on the mound with 64 strikeouts and 26 walks while tallying a 1.87 ERA. He hit .462 as a sophomore in 19 games with 21 RBI, 10 runs scored, five doubles, two triples and four home runs. He missed his entire junior season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Landers is expected to debut with his new Cedarburg team on the basketball court in early January 2021.

It is the seventh time in eight games this year the Wildcats will play on a FOX channel, including the fifth time on FOX and the third during its 3 p.m. time slot.

The Wildcats have won 12 of the last 13 meetings against Iowa State with the lone Cyclone win during that stretch coming the last time the teams met in Ames. Iowa State holds a slim 50-49-4 lead in the all-time series, including a 29-19-3 mark at home.

Chiefs hold off the Panthers at Arrowhead Stadium

MANHATTAN, Kan.&nbsp;– Kansas State will travel to historic Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Friday, December 11 to take on the Butler Bulldogs as part of the second edition of the Big 12/BIG EAST Battle, the schools announced on Thursday (November 5).

The game will be one of 10 contested between the two conferences for the second consecutive season with both ESPN and FOX providing coverage of all games on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU or FS1. The games will be staggered across various dates with times and complete television information being released at a later date.

“Butler is a terrific addition to our 2020-21 schedule in the Big 12/BIG EAST Battle,” said head coach&nbsp;Bruce Weber. “They have a program with great history and tradition and return significant experience from a team that would’ve advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season. Obviously, it’s a very challenging first road game, but looking forward to our team experiencing such a historic venue like Hinkle Fieldhouse.”

This will be just second meeting between the programs and the first since Butler knocked off K-State, 63-56, in the NCAA West Regional Final in Salt Lake City to advance to the 2010 Final Four. It will be the first-ever visit to venerable Hinkle Fieldhouse, which is one of the oldest college basketball arenas still in use opening in 1928.

Led by fourth-year head coach&nbsp;LaVall Jordan, the Bulldogs return seven players from a squad that posted a 22-9 overall record, including a 10-8 mark in BIG EAST play, and were expected to receive a bid to the NCAA Tournament before the rest of the 2019-20 season was canceled due to COV-19.

Although the Bulldogs lost All-BIG EAST First Team selection and leading scorer&nbsp;Kamar Baldwin&nbsp;(16.2 ppg.), they return three players (Bryce Nze,&nbsp;Bryce Golden&nbsp;and&nbsp;Aaron Thompson) with significant experience in 2020-21, including Nze and Golden who started all 31 games a year ago. The 6-foot-7 Nze led the team in both rebounding (6.6 rpg.) and blocked shots (0.7 bpg.) while averaging 9.2 points on a team-best 62.9 field goal percentage. Thompson ranked fourth in the BIG EAST with a team-leading 4.7 assists per game average to go with 7.2 points per game and Golden was fifth in scoring (7.9 ppg.) on better than 50 percent shooting.

K-State is 24-25 all-time against BIG EAST teams, including 4-15 on the road. The Wildcats lost to Marquette, 73-65, at home on Dec. 7, 2019 in the inaugural Big 12/BIG EAST Battle, which was the second game in a home-and-home series between the schools. The last win against a BIG EAST foe came against Creighton in the first round of the 2018 NCAA Tournament on March 16 in Charlotte.

K-State recently announced its 2020-21 schedule, which includes 17 home games, beginning with the inaugural Little Apple Classic that will tip off the season on Wednesday and Friday, November 25 and 27.

The athletics department is planning for 25 percent capacity inside Bramlage Coliseum with designated reserved seating in a socially distanced configuration. Current season ticket holders will have the option of purchasing reserved season tickets that will be designated by specific chairbacks or Cat Cushions in groups of twos and fours throughout Sections 1-20 and 25-27.

MANHATTAN, Kan.&nbsp;–&nbsp;Jim Iverson, a three-year letterman for Kansas State (1949-52) and a starter on the 1951 NCAA Championship runner-up team, recently passed away at the age of 90 in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Born on August 22, 1930 in Mitchell, South Dakota, Iverson played three seasons (1949-52) for Hall of Fame head coach&nbsp;Jack Gardner, leading the Wildcats during one of their greatest periods of success that included a near 80 percent winning percentage (61-16/.792), an appearance in the 1951 NCAA Championship game and a pair of Big Seven Conference titles (1950, 1951).

Iverson was a regular starter on the Wildcat team that posted a 25-4 record and lost to Kentucky in the 1951 NCAA Championship, averaging 8.9 points on 39 percent shooting in 29 games played. As a senior, he was the captain of the 1951-52 squad that posted a 19-5 record and lost just twice in Big Seven play en route to finishing No. 3 in The Associated Press poll. He averaged 12.9 points per game as a senior, just behind All-American&nbsp;Dick Knostman.

For his playing career, Iverson averaged 8.4 points on nearly 40 percent shooting and 75 percent shooting from the free throw line in 75 games played.

Upon graduating, Iverson was drafted by the Boston Celtics in the second round of the 1952 NBA Draft. Following a stint in Japan to fulfill his military obligations, he returned to Manhattan where he met and married his wife,&nbsp;Joan Chilson, while earning his Master’s degree in secondary school administration in 1956.

Iverson was hired as the men’s basketball coach at South Dakota State in 1956, guiding the Jackrabbits to 142 wins in nine season that included five North Central Conference championships, three regional championships and one national championship in the 1963 NCAA College Division Tournament. He was selected as the National College Division Coach of the Year in 1963.

Upon leaving the coaching profession, Iverson moved into the private sector, working for the National Bank of South Dakota (US Bank), Valley Bank and Heart Hospital of South Dakota, before retiring in 2005.

Iverson is survived by his sister,&nbsp;Elaine Walsh, his daughter,&nbsp;Nancy (Bob) Schantz, grandchildren&nbsp;Christina (Dan) Loomis,&nbsp;Katie Schantz&nbsp;and&nbsp;Jimmy Schantz&nbsp;and two great granddaughters,&nbsp;Olivia&nbsp;and&nbsp;Grace Loomis. He was preceded in death by his parents (Melvin&nbsp;and&nbsp;Naomi Iverson), brother,&nbsp;Mervin Iverson, his wife, Joan Chilson Iverson, and his son,&nbsp;Paul Iverson.

MANHATTAN, Kan.&nbsp;– Kansas State and Nebraska have agreed to delay the start of their highly-anticipated three-game men’s basketball series until the 2021-22 season, the schools announced on Friday afternoon (October 30).

The series was originally slated to begin Saturday, December 19 with a neutral-site matchup at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City. However, that game has been postponed and pushed back until the 2022-23 season.

<a>The rivalry, which dates to 1906, will now begin with a road game for the Wildcats at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska on Sunday, December 19, 2021 and will be followed by a neutral-site game at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City on Saturday, December 17, 2022. The two schools, which have played 219 games through five conferences (Missouri Valley, Big Six, Big Seven, Big Eight and Big 12), have a rivalry that started more than 100 years ago with a 50-14 victory by Nebraska on February 19, 1906 and was last played at the Devaney Sports Center on February 23, 2011, a 61-57 Wildcat win.

The Wildcats lead the all-time series, 126-93. The 219 meetings represent the fourth-longest series in school history, following Kansas (293), Missouri (237) and Iowa State (231).

K-State announced its 2020-21 schedule earlier this week which includes 17 games at Bramlage Coliseum beginning with the inaugural Little Apple Classic on Wednesday and Friday, November 25 and 27. The tournament field includes Pac-12 foe Colorado and 20-game winners Drake and South Dakota State.

The Wildcats are scheduled to play Drake in the season opener on November 25 before a matchup with Colorado on November 27. There will also be games between Colorado and SDSU and Drake and SDSU.

Season tickets for the 2020-21 season are currently on sale with a plan for 25 percent capacity inside Bramlage Coliseum with designated reserved seating in a socially distanced configuration. These tickets will be sold in groups of twos and four throughout Sections 1-20 and 25-27 with packages starting at $258.

High School football playoff results for Thursday night

MANHATTAN, Kan. — Kansas State Men's Basketball Head Coach Bruce Weber and select players spoke to media via Zoom on Wednesday to discuss the start of the 2020-2021 season.&nbsp;

This week, the Wildcats announced their revised schedule. The slate boasts 17 home games as well as the inaugural Little Apple Classic, in which K-State will open the season on November 25th against Drake and then face off with former Big 12 rival Colorado on November 27th.&nbsp;

With the Coronavirus pandemic wreaking havoc on the sports world, scheduling became difficult for many programs, with several still unsure of their start dates.&nbsp;

"It was tough to be honest," said Weber on the scheduling. "Just talking to all the schools and making sure they were in sync with the testing policy."&nbsp;

Weber went on to say how the team was still taking things in stride. "I would expect at least one change, if not more," he said. "Everyday something happens. Teams in different leagues still haven't made decisions on when they're starting, they're adding games in December, or they're having to change things."

The Wildcats are coming of a disappointing 2019-2020 season where they finished 11-21 overall and 3-15 in Big 12 play. Kansas State did however end the season on back-to-back wins, including a 53-49 win over TCU in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament in Kansas City, prior to the sports world coming to an abrupt halt on March 12th.&nbsp;

"It's a motivator," said McGuirl about leaving last year unfinished. "We always knew last year that we had a lot of talent, but last year's in the past, we learned from it, everything happens for a reason. Now, it's just the mindset that it's a new team, new group, and we're just coming every day to work hard and get better."&nbsp;

Coach Weber mentioned that Mike McGuirl had taken on a leadership role, and McGuirl seconded that motion.&nbsp;

"I've been in college for three years, so I've been able to see the good and the bad of college basketball," said McGuirl. "I'm trying to take what I know from the good and really spread it to the rest of the team. I've got the greatest teammates I could ask for. They're really good people, they work hard, they all listen to the coaches, they're all coachable so I'm blessed to have teammates like this."

Dajuan Gordon was one that was also mentioned as a leader for the Wildcats. Heading into his sophomore season, it's clear to see Gordon wants to make an impact, but he says he just wants to follow McGuirl's lead.&nbsp;

"I try to help Mike lead," said Gordon. "I try to just set everything by example by just going hard, playing hard everyday, being a good person and trying to help everybody."&nbsp;

Kansas State has seen a large amount of roster turnover since last season, which Bruce Weber said has admittedly been tough to navigate during the pandemic because the team hasn't been able to do its normal team-building activities to help develop chemistry among the players.&nbsp;

"It's not easy. I think they enjoy each other," said Weber. "I think they all have camaraderie because they all have a purpose, and that's to get to the season and have a good season."

The Wildcats have just under a month to get to that season that has been so much in question over the last several weeks.&nbsp;

K-State will host Drake in the inaugural Little Apple Classic on Wednesday, November 25. The game time is still to be announced.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — For the first time in 32 years the Los Angeles Dodgers can call themselves World Series champions.

VAN MALONE, ASSISTANT HEAD COACH

“It’s always good to win a rivalry game. That was great for our kids and our kids in the program and kids from Kansas. Our team played really hard, and like I said, it was a great win. One thing that Coach has stressed – and we have stressed as a staff – is the importance in understanding that every win is a great win. Every week, we need to prepare ourselves to be able to celebrate in the locker room. Pay the price on Sunday and Monday and throughout the week and continue to stack the days. I feel like offensively, defensively and on special teams we continue to get better week after week. In the Big 12, we’re going to have to keep doing that. We’re playing a lot of young guys defensively and offensively. As you put more young guys out on the field, they have a chance to make mistakes. But the great thing is that we’re not seeing as many mistakes as we had in week one. That’s refreshing as a staff, so we’re going to have to continue this progression. This week will be important because we’ll face a tough opponent at (their) home. Those guys have played extremely hard throughout the season. They’ve lost some close games. They’re playing some young guys as well. It will be a big challenge for us as we roll into this week.”

On the big plays made by the defense...

“Coaches always say you get what you emphasize. We’ve talked about attacking the ball in the air. We’ve talked about creating turnovers throughout the season, and that’s something that, since we’ve been here, it’s something as a staff that we’ve continued to stress and emphasize. So, it’s good to see when guys go get the football, but the ability to get it into the end zone is another step. It’s exciting to see defensive backs like AJ (Parker) and Justin (Gardner) and those guys have the opportunity to score with the football because that’s something on defense that we stress. It’s our position and our job to get the ball back to the offense and to put it in scoring position as best as we can. Not a lot of defensive guys have that ability, so we’re excited when we have the opportunity to put it in the end zone as defensive backs.”&nbsp;

On the emphasis put on special teams...

“Each one of our coaches has an assignment on special teams, and everyone is involved. I think the players see that and recognize it. With special teams, you have one chance to be special. We have some units out there, specifically the punt return unit, and make big plays for our team. As we go through the season, seeing that these games are going to continue to be close, we feel like that’s our edge is us making plays on special teams to give our team an opportunity to win.”

On West Virginia starting quarterback Jarret Doege against K-State last year...

“Him coming into the game last year was a difference. The thing that’s really impressive about him is he’s a competitive kid as you watch him. Into this season, he’s definitely improved and that is the thing that makes them go. He has a pretty good arm. He’s active with his feet and doesn’t get sacked much. He’ll be a challenge for us, but speaking to last year, it did throw us a little bit. At this point, from what we’ve seen so far, he’ll be an extreme challenge for us.”

On what stands out about West Virginia’s offense...

“They have really good offensive linemen. They play together well as a group. The running backs, both guys that play a lot right now, are powerful and strong runners. They have good speed. You’ve seen them have a few breakaway runs. We’ll have to do a good job of wrapping up and tackling those guys well. The receiving corps will probably be amongst the best we’ll play, but you say that week after week in the Big 12. They have guys who are explosive. They use them in different places on the field, but when they get the ball in their hands, you have to do a good job of defending the perimeter well as well as vertically defending them because they have the ability to stretch the field. From the skill position standpoint, it will be a challenge for us. Defensively, those are the things we’ll continue to harp on to our players as we go throughout the week.”

K-State football holds a weekly press conference

MANHATTAN, Kan.&nbsp;– Seventeen home games at Bramlage Coliseum, including the inaugural Little Apple Classic that will tip off the season on November 25 and 27, highlight the 2020-21 Kansas State men’s basketball schedule released by athletic department officials this afternoon. (October 26).

Season tickets as well as gameday procedures for the 2020-21 season will be released in the coming days.

“We are excited to finally be able to release our 2020-21 schedule,” said head coach&nbsp;Bruce Weber. “This has been a huge undertaking by (Director of Operations)&nbsp;Drew Speraw&nbsp;and (Executive Associate AD)&nbsp;Casey Scott, as well as (associate commissioner)&nbsp;Jeff Jackson&nbsp;at the Big 12 office and I appreciate their efforts to get this done under incredibly difficult circumstances. We know that changes are most likely going to happen as we go along, but this will give our players a goal to work towards as we continue to practice and get ready for the season.”

K-State will open the upcoming season with five consecutive home games, including the inaugural Little Apple Classic on Wednesday, November 25 and Friday, November 27. The field will include Colorado, Drake and South Dakota with the Wildcats facing the Bulldogs in the second game of a doubleheader on November 25 followed by a renewal of its long rivalry with the Buffaloes on November 27 for the first time since 2011.

K-State will play eight of its nine non-conference games at Bramlage Coliseum, including the return of a home-and-home series with UNLV on Saturday, December 5 and a matchup with former Big 12 foe Texas A&amp;M on Saturday, January 30, 2021 in the previously announced SEC/Big 12 Challenge. The one road game will come in the second edition of the Big 12/BIG EAST Battle with a date and opponent to be released at a later date.

“We feel this is a competitive, non-conference schedule especially for such a new, young team,” said Weber. “Colorado would’ve been an NCAA team a year ago and return one of the top point guards (McKinley Wright IV) in the nation, while Drake, UNLV and Texas A&amp;M were all playing some of their best basketball when COV-19 hit.

“We have veterans like Mike (McGuirl), DaJuan (Gordon), Monty (Murphy) and Antonio (Gordon) who have been in big games, but now have to adjust to being in new roles, while we have several newcomers who will have to take a step up to an entirely new level of competition. This will allow for them to develop and gain experience before Big 12 play.”

The 25th&nbsp;season of Big 12 men’s basketball will have a new wrinkle this season with a pair of conference games in the month of December, as K-State will open at Iowa State on Tuesday, December 15 before hosting Final Four contender Baylor on Saturday, December 19. The Wildcats have faced the Cyclones in an opener more than any other foe (16 times), as the teams will play in the earliest conference opener in school history.

After a break to finish off non-conference play, K-State will resume Big 12 play with a home game against TCU on Saturday, January 2. It will be the first four home games in the first half of league play, including Oklahoma State (Tuesday, January 9), Iowa State (Wednesday, January 13) and West Virginia (Saturday, January 23).

Following the home game with Texas A&amp;M on January 30, the Wildcats will open the second half with a road game at rival Kansas on Tuesday, February 2, which will be the first of two meetings in a two-week span. Home games in the second half include consecutive games with Texas Tech (Saturday, February 6) and Texas (Tuesday, February 9) to go along with Kansas (Tuesday, February 16) and Oklahoma (Tuesday, February 23).

“The Big 12 will once again be one of the best – if not the best – conference in the country,” said Weber. “Every team has a legitimate shot at the NCAA Tournament and beyond. I expect nothing but the same hard-fought, competitive environments that we have seen every year game-in and game-out.”

The last week of the regular season has been left open to accommodate any postponed games, as the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship is scheduled for Wednesday-Saturday, March 10-13 at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City.

Game times and television designations will be released as they become official.

The Wildcats will be one of the youngest teams in the country in 2020-21 with just one senior (Mike McGuirl) and the addition of eight newcomers. McGuirl saw action in 29 games with 20 starts, averaging 6.9 points on 42.3 percent shooting and 2.4 rebounds in 24.7 minutes per game. The squad also returns sophomores&nbsp;DaJuan Gordon&nbsp;(6.3 ppg., 3.4 rpg.),&nbsp;Montavious Murphy&nbsp;(5.2 ppg., 3.7 rpg.) and&nbsp;Antonio Gordon&nbsp;(4.2 ppg., 3.7 rpg.).

A nationally acclaimed seven-man recruiting class joins transfer&nbsp;Kaosi Ezeagu, who recently earned immediate eligibility after transferring from UTEP in early January. (October 26).Season tickets as well as gameday procedures for the 2020-21 season will be released in the coming days.“We are excited to finally be able to release our 2020-21 schedule,” said head coach&nbsp;Bruce Weber. “This has been a huge undertaking by (Director of Operations)&nbsp;Drew Speraw&nbsp;and (Executive Associate AD)&nbsp;Casey Scott, as well as (associate commissioner)&nbsp;Jeff Jackson&nbsp;at the Big 12 office and I appreciate their efforts to get this done under incredibly difficult circumstances. We know that changes are most likely going to happen as we go along, but this will give our players a goal to work towards as we continue to practice and get ready for the season.”K-State will open the upcoming season with five consecutive home games, including the inaugural Little Apple Classic on Wednesday, November 25 and Friday, November 27. The field will include Colorado, Drake and South Dakota with the Wildcats facing the Bulldogs in the second game of a doubleheader on November 25 followed by a renewal of its long rivalry with the Buffaloes on November 27 for the first time since 2011.K-State will play eight of its nine non-conference games at Bramlage Coliseum, including the return of a home-and-home series with UNLV on Saturday, December 5 and a matchup with former Big 12 foe Texas A&amp;M on Saturday, January 30, 2021 in the previously announced SEC/Big 12 Challenge. The one road game will come in the second edition of the Big 12/BIG EAST Battle with a date and opponent to be released at a later date.“We feel this is a competitive, non-conference schedule especially for such a new, young team,” said Weber. “Colorado would’ve been an NCAA team a year ago and return one of the top point guards (McKinley Wright IV) in the nation, while Drake, UNLV and Texas A&amp;M were all playing some of their best basketball when COV-19 hit.“We have veterans like Mike (McGuirl), DaJuan (Gordon), Monty (Murphy) and Antonio (Gordon) who have been in big games, but now have to adjust to being in new roles, while we have several newcomers who will have to take a step up to an entirely new level of competition. This will allow for them to develop and gain experience before Big 12 play.”The 25th&nbsp;season of Big 12 men’s basketball will have a new wrinkle this season with a pair of conference games in the month of December, as K-State will open at Iowa State on Tuesday, December 15 before hosting Final Four contender Baylor on Saturday, December 19. The Wildcats have faced the Cyclones in an opener more than any other foe (16 times), as the teams will play in the earliest conference opener in school history.After a break to finish off non-conference play, K-State will resume Big 12 play with a home game against TCU on Saturday, January 2. It will be the first four home games in the first half of league play, including Oklahoma State (Tuesday, January 9), Iowa State (Wednesday, January 13) and West Virginia (Saturday, January 23).Following the home game with Texas A&amp;M on January 30, the Wildcats will open the second half with a road game at rival Kansas on Tuesday, February 2, which will be the first of two meetings in a two-week span.
