Mary Lou Anderson, 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 22, 2024, atValley Vista Good Samaritan.

&nbsp;She was born on February 26, 1935, on her family’s farm near Belvue, Kansas, the youngest daughter of Aloysuis George Riat and Gertrude Josephine (Hesse)Riat. &nbsp;She attended grade school in Belvue and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1953.

After High School she attended Sisters of Charity School of Nursing of Kansas City, Kansas and obtained her Registered Nurse’s License. She started her career as a nurse at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka and later worked at Valley Vista. She loved caring for others. Mary Lou worked at the Wamego Public Library for 17 years, and she enjoyed talking with many different people in the community.

Mary Lou married Charles “Herb” Anderson on February 3rd, 1962, at St. Mary’s, KS. He preceded her in death on April 28, 2006. They had a happy marriage and enjoyed traveling together and playing games of pitch around the kitchen table with friends.

Mary Lou loved being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She was devoted in her faith as a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking for her family, being outdoors, spending time with her family and friends and loved her grand-dog T-Bone!

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Kenny Riat, James“Jimmy” Riat (Arvella), Raymond Riat (Audrey), and one sister, Betty Riat. Brother-in-law, Dave Davidson. Twin Grandsons, Thomas and Tyler Anderson. Great grandsons, Patrick and James Wisdom, Jayson Ebert.&nbsp;

She is survived by her sister Helen Davidson (Riat), sister-in-law Phyllis, her only son,Roger Anderson and his wife Susan, Wamego; Granddaughters, Lauren Ubel (Anderson) and her husband Caleb, Wamego; Jean (Thad) Carley, Jenni (Jim) Ebert, Jill (Eric) Wisdom; great grandchildren, Jake (Paige) Eichem, Jordan (Josh) Nider, Morgan (Kody) Jackson, Justin Ebert, Bailey Wisdom, Logan Carley, Jessi Ebert, Alex Wisdom, Ethan Wisdom; great-great grandchildren, Kasyn Ebert, Sutton Eichem, Jamie Nider, Harper Jackson, Jude Nider, Hallie Jackson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Wamego. &nbsp;A rosary will be held prior to Mass at 10:00 a.m. &nbsp;Mary Lou will lie-in-state, on Tuesday, at Campanella and Stewart Funeral Home, from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m. &nbsp;The family suggests memorial contributions to the Wamego Public Library, and those may be sent in care of the funeral home.&nbsp;

Lawrence Delbert Fechter, 90, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away on Monday February 19, 2024 in Wamego.

Larry was the youngest of six siblings, born November 15, 1933, in St. George, Kansas, to Arthur Harrison and Julia Elizabeth (Picolet) Fechter. &nbsp;He married Kay Louise Duncan on November 26, 1960, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Wamego. &nbsp;She survives.

Larry was a graduate of Wamego High School and served his country for two years in the U. S. Army, stationed in Germany. &nbsp;

Larry was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, the Wamego Lions Club, and the Wamego Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed woodworking and refinishing furniture.&nbsp;

He was a community-minded man, holding various positions for the City of Wamego, including Director of Operations, and serving for many years on the Wamego City Council including multiple terms as Mayor. With his wife Kay, Larry owned and operated Wamego Home Furnishings.

&nbsp;Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Kay; three daughters, Katherine Corwin, Robin Irvin (Mike) and Susan Fechter; three grandchildren, Thomas Irvin (Tina), Laura Rozell (Sam) and Rachel Mintz (Drew); three great-grandchildren, Lydia Irvin, Titus Irvin, and Elaine Irvin; and many nieces and nephews.

&nbsp;Larry was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Charles “Vincent” Fechter, Dean Fechter, Victor Fechter, and Harold Fechter, who was killed in action in Italy during WW II; and a sister, Edith Torrey.

Cremation arrangements are in the care of Campanella &amp; Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego.

&nbsp;Service arrangements are pending for late spring.

Telva Marie Swenson, age 83, a longtime Manhattan resident, died February 9, 2024, at Shawnee PARC in Overland Park, KS.

She was born June 28, 1940, in Randall, Kansas, the daughter of Virgil and Velma (Sadler) Shamburg.

Telva was the bookkeeper at Manhattan Commission Company and then was the Vault Cashier at the Kansas State Student Union.

She was a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was also an avid supporter of the Little Apple Barbershop Chorus and assisted with many activities of the chorus.

Telva enjoyed sewing and reading and was a wonderful cook. She loved to travel with Bob to the Barbershop Conventions and the Manhattan Masterworks Chorale events. Telva was a big supporter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and was the founder of the Great Strides Walk in Manhattan.

She loved her family and especially her grandchildren.

On June 23, 1963, in Manhattan, she was married to Robert R. “Bob” Swenson. Bob preceded her in death on October 31, 2017. She was also preceded in death by her son Brian Swenson in 2013; and by 10 brothers and sisters: Roberta Peters, Duane Shamburg, Lila Collette, Daniel Shamburg, Lenus Shamburg, Leslie Shamburg, Neva Maxfield, Edith Pilcher, Linda Donnelly and Ron Shamburg.

Survivors include her daughter Beth Marine and her husband Matthew; and five grandchildren: Mason Robert Swenson, Vaylnn Ann-Marie Swenson, Brianna Rose-Marie Swenson, Tucker Matthew Marine and Tyler Robert Marine.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, March 2nd, at the First Presbyterian Church, 801 Leavenworth St., Manhattan, with Reverend Jason Pittman officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to either the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the Little Apple Barbershop Chorus. Contributions may be left in care of the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas 66502.

Telva Marie Swenson

Albert Ray “Al” Dieball, age 74, of Manhattan, died February 17, 2024, at Stormont Vail Health in Topeka, with his family by his side, after an 11-month battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

He was born February 20, 1949, in Manhattan, KS, the son of Ray Herman and Betty L. (Rochester) Dieball.

Al graduated from Alma High School in 1967 and then from Manhattan Vo-Tech in 1969 in drafting.

He was a Registered Land Surveyor for 47 years with BG Consultants, retiring in 2023 as Senior Project Surveyor. His land surveying career spanned 54 years. He had also served for eight years in the Army Reserves.

Al loved to be outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He participated in many bass fishing and catfish tournaments. He served as tournament director for the Kansas District of U.S. Catfish Anglers Tournament Series for many years.

He loved his family and he looked forward to spending time with and caring for his granddaughter Blake.

On June 10, 1972, in Alma, he was married to Kathy E. Leonard. Kathy survives of the home. Additional survivors include his daughter Shanna Griffin and her husband Kevin of Manhattan; one granddaughter Blake Nicole Griffin; and two brothers: Robert Dieball and his wife Kayla, and Marc Dieball and his wife Kathy of Leonardville.

Al was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister Jennie Dieball, nephew Tyrel Dieball and niece Callea Breiner.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 9th, at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Chapel with Reverend Kevin Larson officiating. The family will receive family and friends from 10:00 AM Saturday to the service time.

Kevin Ray Robel, age 52 of Manhattan, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2024, at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka.

He was born on February 18, 1972, in Manhattan, the son of Raydon and Barbara (Swinney) Robel. &nbsp;He graduated from Riley County High School and Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Graphic Design.

Kevin was a design perfectionist and master illustrator. &nbsp; He worked for Schurle Signs, Ballard’s Sporting Goods, and N Zone Sportswear before starting his own company, Robel Graphics in 2003. &nbsp;In 2019 he combined his professional services with Katalyst Sign &amp; Grafix, where he liked the new challenges and loved the comradery with his boss and co-workers. &nbsp; Art and design were Kevin’s gifts and many businesses and organizations benefited from his talents. &nbsp;He also shared his love of K-State by creating fun memes on social media, posters incorporating the Powercat, and drawings just for the fun of it.

A fountain of knowledge, Kevin thoroughly enjoyed time with friends at Trivia League nights. &nbsp;He was passionate about his hobbies and loved to share them with others. &nbsp; He could talk endlessly about music, sports, movies, and his prized ink pen collection. &nbsp;Kevin found happiness in making others laugh with his silly antics and comedic impressions and was the “Super Fun Uncle” to his nieces and nephews. &nbsp; His artistic talent combined with his humor made a special combination that delighted and entertained friends and family.

Kevin was a member of the Sedalia Community Church, Theta XI Fraternity and a lifetime member of the K-State Alumni Association.

He is survived by his twin sister, Kerry Thurlow and husband Matt of Leonardville; his older sister, Kristi Roesch of Auburn, Nebraska; and his nieces and nephews, Wyatt Thurlow, Kylee Thurlow, Reagan Roesch and Laura Roesch.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raydon and Barbara Robel.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at the Sedalia Community Church with Pastor Kevin Larson officiating.

Chase Riley Tyrell, 16, of Junction City, Kansas, passed away on February 20, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

A memorial service will take place Monday, February 26, 2024, 1:00 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Dirk Westerman.

He was born on December 31, 2007, to Craig and Brenda (Beers) Tyrell in Shawnee Mission, Kansas. Growing up in Kansas, allowed him to hone in on his outdoor skills such as hunting, camping, and of course fishing. Chase spent most of his summers outdoors and had great respect for the wilderness. One of the biggest fish he ever caught was a 15 pound Blue catfish at Milford State Park, Kansas. He shared his passion with his parents and showed them the ropes of outdoor living.

He is survived by his loving parents; one brother, Christopher Tyrell; two grandmothers, Betty Beers and Patsy Tyrell and a host of other loving family and friends. He is preceded by his two grandfathers, Chris Tyrell and LeRoy Beers.

He was born on December 26, 1938, in Randolph, the son of Floyd Russell and Ruth Vernelle (Anderson) Hohman. &nbsp;He graduated from Randolph High School and then served in the United States Army.

On August 7, 1960, he married Marcine Fern Stienbruck. &nbsp;She preceded him in death in 2022.

Don was a truck driver and delivered mail for the United States Postal Service. &nbsp;He was a member of the American Legion and raised sheep and other livestock. &nbsp;He enjoyed fishing in his younger years.

He is survived by two sons, Chris Hohman and wife Martye of Glasco and Gaylen Hohman of Green; one brother, Jerry Hohman of Wakefield, and three sisters, Janice Pfeifer of Topeka, Coleen Weller of Clay Center and Kathy Olson of Topeka.

In addition to his wife Marcine, he was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Lonnie Hohman and Larry Hohman.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on March 30, 2024 in the Rose Meron Cemetery.

Glenda “Jill” Irene Cooper Spohn, passed away on November 15, 2023, at the age of 78 in Abilene, Kansas.

She was born on June 22, 1945, in Wichita, Kansas, daughter of Glenn and Dorcas Evans Cooper. Theoldest of four, Jill, was active in Campfire Girls and St. James Episcopal Church in Wichita, Kansas. She graduated from Southeast High in 1963 and continued her education at Emporia State University.&nbsp; While attending ESU, Jill met Jerold Spohn, and the two married December 20, 1965. They had a strong marriage of 57 years and were a positive example of upholding marriage vows. One of their favorite things to do was to pick out anniversary cards for one another each year. After a few years of marriage, the couple settled in White City, Kansas, where they grew their family and raised 6 children - 3 boys and 3 girls. They moved to the house on Garfield Street in 1982 and lived there for the next 36 years.

Jill worked as the secretary of White City Schools for a number of years before staying home to raise her&nbsp; children. In 1992 Jill graduated from Emporia State University, with her degree in Secondary Education in History. It was important to her to finish what she had started and demonstrated perseverance and sacrifice as she completed her degree. Her last place of employment before retirement was with Central National Bank in Junction City. Jill’s children were her pride and joy and she could always be counted on to be in attendance at any of their&nbsp; sporting events, 4-H activities, or church functions. In her free time, Jill enjoyed gardening, growing flowers,and reading. She could be found nearly every Saturday at the local library. Jill regularly participated in an&nbsp; EHU group for women, served on various church committees, and was a very active member of local and county 4-H boards throughout the years the family resided in White City. When grandchildren began to come along, Jill was delighted. She was known to send cards full of stickers to them and always had a new toy to play with when they would visit. Some of the most meaningful days to Jill were the days her entire family would gather together for a family reunion in the summer or at the holidays in December.

In 2019, Jerry and Jill moved to the Chapman/Abilene area. During these last few years, Jill’s family watched as Alzheimer’s invaded her mind and she slowly lost her ability to remember all things. Though she grew incapable of remembering, those who love her the most will remember her for how supportive, devoted, and loving she was as a wife, mother, and grandmother.

Jill is survived by her loving husband, Jerold Spohn, her children Jerold Spohn Jr. (Reva), Bryon Spohn, Michael Spohn (Erin), Barbara Boggs (Matt), Jennifer Hickman (Daniel), and Susan Monnier (Mark). She is&nbsp; also survived by 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Jill was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Dorcas Cooper, and her sister, Jeanne Hoffman.

A private graveside memorial service will be held at a later date. Following the service, a reception will beheld at the White City Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.

Patricia Lynn (Crownhart) Hanson, age 78, of Overland Park, Kansas and formerly of Manhattan, passed away February 20, 2024 at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City.

She was born on February 13, 1946 in Kansas City, the daughter of Floyd and Pauline (Meares) Crownhart. She attended schools in the Kansas City area and graduated from North Kansas City High School with the class of 1964. Patricia then attended Kansas State University and earned her bachelor’s degree in education. She later attended Mid America Nazarene and earned her Master’s Degree in education.

On June 10, 1967 in Kansas City, she was united in marriage to Leon S. Hanson. He survives at their home in Overland Park.

Patricia was a teacher for many years. She taught at Leawood Middle School in Leawood, Kansas, and also at schools in Grandview, Missouri and Junction City, Kansas. She enjoyed helping kids learn and watching them grow. She was a member of the St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Manhattan.

She was preceded in death by her sister Kathleen Gleason and brother-in-law Thomas Gleason.

In addition to her husband Steve, she is survived by her daughter Amanda DeVolder (Jeffrey); her grandchildren: Emory, Tucker, and Tillie; and her brother Floyd Crownhart (Mary); and her many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday March 2, 2024 at the Colbert Hills Clubhouse, 5200 Colbert Hills Drive, Manhattan, Kansas 66503.

Renda Ann McInteer, age 51, died February 19, 2024, at the University of Kansas Health System St. Francis Campus in Topeka.

She was born August 1, 1972, in Manhattan, the daughter of Richard L. and Michelle (Parshall) McInteer.

Renda had been a longtime resident of the Kansas Neurological Institute in Topeka.

She enjoyed going out to eat, picnics, swimming, all music, and going to concerts and to Great Wolf Lodge with KNI. She loved her weekends spent with her dad at his house in Wamego.

Survivors include her father Richard and his wife Jeannette of Wamego, KS; her mother Michelle Colle of East Lake, OH; and one brother Jamie McInteer of Emporia. The family wants to thank her adopted grandmother Lee for her special care and love for Renda.

Cremation is planned with private family services.

Kenneth Carl Sack, age 73, of Manhattan, passed away Saturday February 17, 2024 at the Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kansas.

Ken was born on July 26, 1950 in Manhattan, the son of Carl and Marie (Flanary) Sack. He attended Manhattan Catholic Schools and graduated from Msgr. Luckey High School with the class of 1968. He then attended Manhattan Area Technical College and earned his degree in HVAC, graduating in 1970.

Ken worked at Kansas State University starting in 1978, first in facilities doing air conditioning and maintenance, and then from 1989 until 2016 he was a research assistant and an electronic technician in the biology department. When he transferred to biology he repaired and maintained their lab equipment such as their electron microscope, autoclaves and water filtration systems. He also helped in multiple labs. He retired after 39 years at KSU. He also worked and taught classes at AIB in Manhattan for many years.

He was a social guy who always had a good joke to tell. He would be seen at the Senior Center and the Community Meals, always visiting and wanting to talk with others. Ken volunteered with the Boy Scouts and also for a period of time with BeAble in Manhattan.

Ken is survived by his good friend Melissa Perez of the home. He is also survived by his many family members and friends, all who will miss seeing Ken and sharing stories with him.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday February 26 at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan.

The Rosary will be read following the visitation at 7:00 p.m. Monday February 26 at the funeral home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday February 27 at the Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Manhattan, with Father Gale Hammerschmidt as Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan.

Viola Mae Welter, 93, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday (February 20, 2024) at Vintage Park in Wamego.

Born December 1, 1930 in Humboldt, Nebraska, Viola was the daughter of Wayne C. and Ethel L. (McFall) Lee.She married Lyman “Cloyde” Welter on May 1, 1948 in Holton, Kansas. He preceded her in death on May 19, 2012.

Viola was a member of the Wamego United Methodist Church. She loved sewing, crocheting, knitting and working with ceramics. &nbsp;She shared many of her projects with others and will be especially remembered for making her special homemade ice cream in the old crank style ice cream maker on weekends and at her many family reunions and for the many afghans she made for her family. &nbsp;She enjoyed collecting Avon bottles and her costume jewelry. Viola loved to work in her garden and her most fond memories were the times they spent at the Welter Farm in Flush and spending time with her kids and grandkids.

Viola had been employed as a cook for the Wamego School District and as a babysitter. &nbsp;She later was a Nurses Aid for several years until her retirement.&nbsp;

Survivors include three daughters, Elda Seener (Tom) of Washington, MO, Marcella Matson of Eldon, MO and Karen Arace of Eldon, MO; a son, Randy Lee Welter of Manhattan, KS; ten grandchildren; and many loving&nbsp; great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

&nbsp;Viola was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cloyde; two sons in law, Frank Matson and Nick Arace; and a brother, Carroll Lee and his wife Ineva.&nbsp;

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon (February 22, 2024) at 1:00 at Campanella &amp; Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego with Pastor Alex Rossow officiating. &nbsp;Burial will be in Wamego City Cemetery.

The family will meet with friends on Thursday afternoon from 12:30 until the time of services at the funeral home.&nbsp;

LaMont (Monty) E. Godsey, born on May 31, 1939, in Holton, Kansas, peacefully passed away February 16, 2024, in Pearland, Texas. He was the beloved son of DeVere E. Godsey and Eunice L. (Stowell) Godsey.

LaMont is survived by his devoted wife, Brenda Kay (Stutsman), and their loving children:

DeLome D. Fair (husband John) of Pearland, TX; LaMont G. Godsey of Seattle, WA; and Brett T. Godsey (husband James) of St. Paul, MN. He was a cherished grandfather to Evan Fair (wife Kayleigh) of Houston, TX, and leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.

LaMont and Brenda's love story began at a young age, dating from the time they were 14 and 13, respectively. They were united in marriage on September 4, 1960, and their enduring love became an inspiration to many.

LaMont dedicated an impressive 46 years of his life to the field of education. His career began as a teacher in 1962 in Cleveland, Ohio, before returning to Kansas to teach drafting in Junction City, KS. He played a vital role as the assistant and head wrestling coach for 15 years, contributing to the success of the JCHS wrestling team, which secured State Championships in 1979, 1980, and 1982. In 1988, he transitioned to the role of Associate Principal at Junction City High School, where he served until his retirement in 2000.

Post-retirement, LaMont continued his commitment to education by serving on the Board of Education for Geary County Unified School District. During his second term, he held the position of President of the Board of Education, demonstrating his unwavering dedication to the betterment of the education system in Junction City and Ft. Riley.

LaMont celebrated 39 years in recovery this January and spent those years helping countless others with their own recoveries through his fellowship in AA.

LaMont was well known for his humor, particularly the jokes that he sometimes told more than once. An avid sports enthusiast, LaMont took great joy in supporting multiple teams, including the University of Kansas, Kansas State University, Houston Rockets, Houston Texans, and the Cleveland Browns.

In 2008, LaMont and Brenda made Pearland, Texas, their home to be closer to family. LaMont will be remembered for his kindness, dedication, and the positive impact he made on the lives of those he touched.

A celebration of his life will be held on June 29, 2024, in Junction City, KS, at the Courtyard By Marriot. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children (www.shrinerschildrens.org).

Eldora Mae Wunder, 83, of Vermillion, South Dakota formerly of Junction City, Kansas died on Friday, February 16, 2024, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, South Dakota.

The family will receive friends Friday, February 23, 2024, from 10-11 a.m at Johnson Funeral Home. A graveside service will immediately follow the visitation at 11:30 a.m. at Milford Cemetery. Pastor Ronnie Roberts will officiate.

Eldora was born August 15, 1940, in Ogden, Kansas the daughter of Harold Edgar and Blanche LaVeta (Cumming) Johnson. Eldora was a homemaker in Junction City for many years where she raised her children. She also worked as a cashier for Food 4 Less Grocery Store and Walmart. She enjoyed helping and visiting with her customers at Walmart. She took interest in their families and always wanted to make sure they were doing okay. Eldora also enjoyed playing bingo, often going more than once a week. Eldora loved her grand babies very much. She often would worry about their whereabouts, even when she wasn't able to get up and go see what they were up to. She always knew their common schedules and she was always the first one to realize if they were late. On January 31, 1958, she married LeRoy (Carl) Wunder. He died November 3, 2008.

Eldora is survived by her loving sons, Tony Wunder and his wife Sarah of Vermillion, South Dakota, Terry Wunder and his wife Lisa of Girard, Kansas and Tim Wunder and his wife Kathy of Milford, Kansas. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Nicole, Aaron, Ariel, Jarrett, Michelle, Cayden, Carson and Camryn; four great-grandchildren, Conner, Camden, Trace and Emma; many cousins, nieces, nephews and a handful of very close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Carl; one daughter, Tracey Foreman; two brothers, Glen Johnson and Joseph Johnson.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Elva Christine ‘Teen’ (Peterson) Krause passed away peacefully at home on February 17, 2024. She was born November 1, 1930, in Enterprise, Dickinson County, Kansas to Martin Edward Arthur Peterson and Grace Esther (Picking) Peterson. Teena married Clyde Frank Krause in 1949. After spending time in Kansas City and Georgia, the family moved to Hutchinson, Kansas in 1959, where she lived for the next 65 years. They divorced in the early 1960s and she joined the workforce, starting as a gift-wrapper at Sears. She retired from Sears in the 1990s. From the time she moved to Hutchinson, she was a member of Trinity Methodist Church. She loved to travel, and she loved her family. Traveling with her sister, Leona, was one of her favorite pastimes. Together, they traveled all over the United States.

She is survived by one sister, Mary Esther Bever, three of her children, including son Greggory Allen Krause of Hutchinson, daughter Susan Koren Burdick of Texas, and son Jeffrey Neil Krause of Hutchinson, grandchildren Rachel Ann Swartz (John) of Texas, Benjamin Paul Krause (Tara) of Texas, and Heather Donnell Madrigill (Ed) of Kansas City, several great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and life-long friends. She was proceeded in death by her parents, three sisters, Beverly Anne Krisher, Leona Ruth Blodgett, and Connie Marie Amburgy, son Martin Paul Krause, grandson Jeremy Allen Burdick, and great-grandson Lucas Aaron Swartz.

 Per Teena’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m., April 27th, 2024 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Enterprise, Kansas while the spring flowers are in bloom. The family suggests memorials be given to St. Jude’ Children’s Research Hospital. Matilda Jane (Porter) Scott, 94 of Abilene passed away February 17, 2024. She was born April 30, 1929, the daughter of Raymond and Edith (Bell) Porter.&nbsp; On February 3, 1953 she was united in marriage to Lawrence Scott in Abilene. Matilda worked at ALCO Duckwall for 25 years in the warehouse department. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Abilene. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.

 She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Matilda’s wishes were to be cremated. A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 2, 2024 at the Abilene City Cemetery. Matilda Jane (Porter) Scott

Martha J. Minihan, 80, of Blaine, Kansas, died Saturday (February 17, 2024) at the Onaga Community Hospital. &nbsp;

Born August 17, 1943 in Topeka, Kansas, Martha was the daughter of Hugh and Irene (Firestone) Priddy. She married Joseph Francis Minihan on August 24, 1963 in Topeka, Kansas. &nbsp;He preceded her in death on November 24, 2022.

Active in her faith, Martha was a member of St. Columbkille’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society of St. Columbkille. &nbsp;She was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing and cooking. &nbsp;She will be remembered for her fried chicken and her cake with her chocolate coffee frosting.

Martha was devoted to raising her family and helping on the family farm.&nbsp;

&nbsp;She is survived by her daughter; Karen Ebert (Kyle) of St. Mary; &nbsp;her sons; Joseph Michael Minihan of Blaine, Kevin Patrick Minihan (Cathy) of Blaine, Mark Allen Minihan (Carol) of Wheaton, and Gerald Francis Minihan (Christi) of Rossville; her thirteen grandchildren, T. J. Minihan (Fiance', Lindsey Ennen), Brooke Fronczak (Matt), Chase Minihan (Taylor), Kasey Minihan (Larissa), Cameron Minihan, Lane Minihan (Savannah), Wyatt Minihan, Wade Minihan, Molly Minihan, Garret Minihan (Coty Clifton), Breanna Wagner (Nathan), Eric Ebert and Jared Ebert; her great-granddaughter, Millie Jean and she was excitedly expecting a great grandson due in April. &nbsp;She is also survived by two brothers, Larry Priddy (Norma) of Peculiar, MO and Tom Priddy of Topeka; and several nieces, nephews and extended family.&nbsp;

Wyatt Aziel Bailey

Kyler Elliott Stevens, born March 23, 2019, age 4, passed away and went to his heavenly home while surrounded by his family at 2:26 p.m. on February 14, 2024.

Kyler was the adopted son of Christopher and Amber Stevens of Milford, KS. He is survived by his siblings Emily, Caden, Keira, and biological brother Aiden. He was loved deeply by all his family.

 While on Earth, Kyler enjoyed Disney music, watching Moana and game shows, being loved on by his siblings, and held by his parents and grandparents. While his Earthly body created great limitations on him, he found ways to bring joy to all those who encountered him, and though his time on this Earth was short, the impact he made on others will resonate for a lifetime. He will be missed greatly by all family and friends. He proceeds into Heaven to join his grandfather Edward Simon, who left too soon but said he would wait for Kyler to take him home.

The family would like to thank all the doctors and staff who have worked with Kyler over the years. Especially those who attended to him in the Pediatric ICU at Children’s Mercy Hospital, who’s care, support, encouragement, and devotion to their jobs, allowed the family to find peace at a difficult time. The family would also like to thank the teachers and staff at the Early Childhood Center, who helped Kyler have experiences the same as other kids, working with him to learn how to communicate with his family, and teaching him how to find his voice. A special thank you to the many care providers through the TA waiver that have helped ensure that Kyler had the supports necessary to make the gains he did and remain with his family for as long as possible.

 </figure>Kyler Elliott Stevens, born March 23, 2019, age 4, passed away and went to his heavenly home while surrounded by his family at 2:26 p.m. on February 14, 2024.Kyler was the adopted son of Christopher and Amber Stevens of Milford, KS. He is survived by his siblings Emily, Caden, Keira, and biological brother Aiden. He was loved deeply by all his family. While on Earth, Kyler enjoyed Disney music, watching Moana and game shows, being loved on by his siblings, and held by his parents and grandparents. While his Earthly body created great limitations on him, he found ways to bring joy to all those who encountered him, and though his time on this Earth was short, the impact he made on others will resonate for a lifetime. He will be missed greatly by all family and friends. He proceeds into Heaven to join his grandfather Edward Simon, who left too soon but said he would wait for Kyler to take him home.The family would like to thank all the doctors and staff who have worked with Kyler over the years. Especially those who attended to him in the Pediatric ICU at Children’s Mercy Hospital, who’s care, support, encouragement, and devotion to their jobs, allowed the family to find peace at a difficult time. The family would also like to thank the teachers and staff at the Early Childhood Center, who helped Kyler have experiences the same as other kids, working with him to learn how to communicate with his family, and teaching him how to find his voice. Kyler Elliott Stevens

Betty Marie Fritz, age 97 of Leonardville, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2024, at the Leonardville Nursing Home.

She was born on September 8, 1926, on the family farm near Green, the daughter of William and Antonia (Biegert) Friederich.

On June 24, 1947, she married Charles Nanninga. &nbsp;They had five children: Charlotte, Kathy, Don, Ron, and Carroll. &nbsp;He preceded her in death in 1967. &nbsp;She later married Milton Malmstrom and he preceded her in death.

She married Gilbert Fritz on April 14, 1972, and they were married 39 years until his death in 2011.

Betty was a secretary for the National Development Company early in her working career. &nbsp;She was the Leonardville City Clerk for 30 years and worked for the Leonardville Nursing Home. &nbsp;She was awarded the Leonardville Citizen of the Year for all that she did for the community. &nbsp; Betty was a huge sports fan, following the KC Royals, all K-State sports, and the KC Chiefs. &nbsp;She enjoyed playing bingo two days a week and looked forward to her weekly hair appointment.

She is survived by four children, Kathy Nanninga of Derby, Don Nanninga and wife Nancy of Leonardville, Ron Nanninga and wife Donna of Abilene, and Carroll Nanninga of Dallas, Texas; two stepsons, David Fritz and wife Doris of Riley, and Alan Fritz and wife Brenda of Manhattan; one sister, Dorothy Llewelyn of Leonardville; ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands and her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Charlotte Bentley; one brother, Robert Friederich, and her granddaughter, Trisha Caley.

Cremation is planned and a Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to Leonardville Pride or Leonardville Nursing Home. &nbsp;Contributions may be left in the care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.

Terry Brew Baker, age 77, of Blue Rapids, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024, at his home in Blue Rapids.

Terry was born on January 21, 1947 in Marysville, KS to Betty Ruth (Jewell) Walsh and R.J. Baker. His dad was Wayne Talbot and his stepfather was Bob Walsh. &nbsp; He graduated from Blue Rapids High School in 1965, then later joined the US Army, where he served in Korea. &nbsp;On April 3, 1970, he married Mary Alice Yungeberg at the United Methodist Church in Blue Rapids.

While working at GP he held several positions in both the board and plaster plants but spent much of that time as the board plant knife operator. Terry was a member of the Blue Rapids United Methodist Church, the George Bedford American Legion Post 169 in Blue Rapids, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and had served on the Blue Rapids Volunteer Fire Department. He was very proud of being both a military veteran, and resident of his hometown Blue Rapids.Terry was an avid Kansas City Royals, Kansas City Chiefs, Dallas Cowboys and Kansas State fan. He and Mary enjoyed attending Kansas State women’s basketball games and even had season tickets for several seasons. For many years you could find him at every 2A High School State Basketball Tournament game, with his brother-in-law Jerry Yungeberg. Whether the games were in Topeka, or later Manhattan, they would be there sitting in the front row. He loved to follow his kids and grandkids sporting activities whether it was cheerleading, football, basketball, or baseball. &nbsp;You might say he loved sports. He also enjoyed hunting mushrooms, and reading western novels, with Louis L’Amour being his favorite author.Survivors include his wife Mary Alice, a daughter Stacey (Jason) Whiting, a son Mark (Cara) Baker, four grandchildren: Brittani (Derrik) Russell, Tanner (Krystal) Whiting, Devin (Olivia) Argo, and Landen Baker.Preceding Terry in death are his parents: Betty Walsh, RJ Baker, Wayne Talbot and Bob Walsh.A viewing will be held noon to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 23, 2024, with visitation between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. at Christie-Anderes Funeral Home in Waterville.Funeral services are planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, February 24, 2024, at the United Methodist Church in Blue Rapids, with Pastor Berniece Ludlum officiating. &nbsp;Music is to include recorded selections of “On Eagle’s Wings”, “Go Rest High on That Mountain” and “Mr. Lonely”. &nbsp;The musician will be Althea Wertz. &nbsp;Burial will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery, north of Blue Rapids. &nbsp;Military Honors at the cemetery will be provided by an Honors Detail from the US Army and the George Bedford American Legion Post 169.In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Terry Baker Memorial, which will be designated later,&nbsp;and may be sent in care of Christie-Anderes Funeral Home at PO Box 61, Waterville, Kansas 66548.Christie- Anderes Funeral Home of Waterville, in charge of arrangements.
