Everett Ray Piper, 83, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away peacefully in his home on April 28th, 2024 after a series of complications and bad health from covid in 2020.
Everett was born on August 29th, 1940 in Manhattan, Kansas to Fred and Valera "Ma" Macklin Piper. He spent his youth raising hepshire hogs with his dad, fishing and he was active in 4-H. After graduating from high school, Everett got into sales and selling shoes; later retiring as the manager of the JC Penny Jewelry Department.
Everett met Linda Stewart and they wed in 1979. They raised four children, Tammy Lakin (Lonnie), Randy Piper, Brenda Spriggs of Manhattan, KS, and Matt Piper (Teka) of Chanute, KS.
Everett was also a passionate fisherman and could often be found at the lake with Linda by his side. He would always have a story about hunting, fishing, or his youth to anyone that would listen. Friends knew him best by Shorty, Orty, Tony and Papoo.
Anyone who knew Everett knew that he was the most loving father, grandfather, and husband a family could ask for. Everett was predeceased by his Dad - Fred Piper, Mom - Valera Macklin Piper, Brother - Raymond, Daughter - Tammy, Son - Randy and Granddaughter - Briana. Everett is survived by his Wife - Linda Piper, Children - Matt Piper (Teka) and Brenda Spriggs, Brother - Freddy (Glenda), Grandchildren - Jason, Shannon, Tanner, Cody, Briana, Brandon, Austin and Jordan, 6 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild.
