Mary Ruth Shaffer, age 83, of Washington, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at the Washington County Hospital.

Mary was born on September 18, 1940, to Clifford R. and Roseteen (Summers) VanZandt. &nbsp;She married Billie Shaffer on April 19, 1974 at Odessa, Texas. &nbsp;He passed away in 2015.

Mary was very athletic as a young woman and could out run everyone in high school. &nbsp;In Junior and Senior High School she was a Cheer Leader. &nbsp;Mary loved her dogs, horses and mules. &nbsp;She loved music, singing and playing her violin whenever the opportunity came. &nbsp;She also enjoyed writing poems.

Mary is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceding Mary in death are her parents and three siblings: &nbsp;Helen Nelson-VanZandt, Sue Vice and Hillard VanZandt.

Inurnment for Mary and her husband Billie will be at the family cemetery, Willow, Oklahoma.
