Raising funds for suicide prevention/awareness and to assist the Junction City Police Department with development and implementation of a Co-Responder program is my topic on Coffee Talk this week.  Joining me for the program are Tracy Geisler, executive director of the Geary Community Healthcare&nbsp; Foundation, JCPD Captain Cory Odell and Brynne Haverkamp, Crisis Service Director for Pawnee Mental Health. Puttin’ on the Glitz" raising funds to support Suicide Prevention/Awareness

My guest on Coffee Talk this time is State Representative Nathan Butler (68th District) who will begin his second legislative session in early January.&nbsp; In addition to his duties as State Representative, he served in the U.S. Army retiring at the end of 20 years at the rank of Major; is a Pastor; and a real estate agent.

In our interview, he  talked to me about about the make-up of the 68th District, it's wide-ranging mix of small cities and towns spread through sections of Geary, Riley and Morris counties.  He also outlines bills he worked on in his first session and those he will continue to track in the new session beginning in early January 2024. Rep. Butler also addresses some of the inner-workings of the Kansas Legislature and its hectic pace.

She is wrapping up a year of service as President of the <a href="https://www.flinthillsrealtors.net/">Flint Hills Association of Realtors</a> (FHAR) which encompasses Geary, Riley and a number of other area counties in the region.  Kyrsten talks about the role of the association, programs, events and many other aspects of the local and regional real estate market.  She also talks about her work with members of the Kansas Legislature in communicating the issues, concerns and goals of the association and its member real estate brokers and agents.&nbsp;

Hoover Opera House stage; how the storyline develops through the spring, summer, fall and winter seasons narrated by the actors playing each member of the singing group; and the unique stage presentation. Brandon tells us about the Eagle Railcar customers, repair capabilities of the facilities, workforce requirements and the ongoing growth and expansion plans at the Junction City location.

Located on 66 acres and with over three miles of track serviced by Union Pacific, and 109,000 square feet of covered buildings, the facilities include blast and paint booths, 18 mechanical repair spots and a cleaning rack that can clean up to 4 cars simultaneously.&nbsp; Eagle Railcar Services in Junction City offers full freight car maintenance and repair services including the maintenance, removal and reapplication of freight care exterior and interior coating, cleanings of hazardous and non-hazardous material, removal of excess commodity, inspection and other repairs associated with freight cars.&nbsp; The Junction City Shop is also expanding to offer a range of Tank Car services.

A "Coffee Talk" program I've wanted to do for several weeks, an interview with the newest staff member here at 107.9 FM/1420 KJCK and JC Post, recent Kansas State University graduate<b> Anthony Gorges.</b>  He talks about his hometown, his college experience, his love for sports broadcasting and the path he took to arrive in Junction City the middle of August this past summer to go to work for us.  He currently covers a variety of news and sports events for the radio station and JC Post while also working as the "play-by-play" voice for Junction City High School Blue Jay football.

An avid outdoorsman, he talks about his years with the CVB and making Milford Lake and outdoor opportunities in Geary County a cornerstone of attracting visitors to the community.  He also highlights the <a href="https://www.bassmaster.com/college/news/top-8-college-anglers-battle-for-classic-berth-at-bassmaster-college-bracket-on-milford-lake/">"College Classic Bracket Tournament" </a>on Milford Lake this Saturday, Sunday and Monday (Sept 29-Oct. 2) when eight of the best college fishermen in the nation will compete for a berth in the National Bassmaster Classic Tournament. Dykstra tells me officials of the Convention and Visitor's Bureau, JC Mainstreet and the Farnum Creek Acorns Resort are encouraging community members to come to the Farnum Creek boat ramp area before 6:45 a.m. tomorrow morning to welcome and cheer on the participants (below) in the College Classic Bracket Tournament.&nbsp;
