Trailing by as many as 7 points in the first half and knotted at 34-all at the break, Baylor (20-4, 8-3 Big 12) seized control of the momentum and the game with its 19-4 outburst out of halftime, as six different Bear players contributed to the run, including 9 points from senior transfer&nbsp;James Akinjo.

K-State (12-11, 4-7 Big 12) was able to close to within 55-49 with just over 9 minutes remaining on the play of Pack, who scored 9 points in an 11-2 run. However, the Wildcats could not gain any further ground as the balanced Bears finished off the game by scoring 14 of the last 21 points to win their seventh straight in the series.

MANHATTAN, Kan.&nbsp;– Sophomore guard&nbsp;Nijel Pack&nbsp;was selected as the Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week for the second time this season on Monday (February 7) after he posted consecutive 20-point performances in a pair of wins this past week, including the game-winner against Oklahoma State.

Pack is the first Wildcat to win multiple Player of the Week honors in the same season in more than 7 seasons since&nbsp;Nino Williams&nbsp;won it twice during the 2014-15 season (Dec. 15, 2014, and Jan. 26, 2015). Pack also won the weekly accolade on January 24 after his career-high 35-point effort against Kansas.

For the week, Pack averaged 21 points on 59.3 percent (16-of-27) shooting, including 53.8 percent (7-of-13) from 3-point range, along with 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 2.5 assists in 36.5 minutes in helping K-State post consecutive wins over OSU (71-68) and TCU (75-63) last week. He capped a game-high 22-point performance against the Cowboys with the game-winning 3-pointer with 2.2 seconds, while he followed with 20 points, a career-high 4 steals, 4 rebounds and 3 assists in the road win over the Horned Frogs.

Pack is just the eighth Wildcat to earn the weekly Player of the Week honor at least twice in the same season, joining the likes of&nbsp;Jeremiah Massey&nbsp;(2004-05),&nbsp;Michael Beasley&nbsp;(2007-08),&nbsp;Denis Clemente&nbsp;(2009-10),&nbsp;Jacob Pullen&nbsp;(2010-11),&nbsp;Jamar Samuels&nbsp;(2011-12),&nbsp;Rodney McGruder&nbsp;(2012-13) and Williams. Manhattan ( 4-10 ) rallied from a late four-point deficit and Jack Wilson hit two free throws with 1.5 seconds remaining to defeat the Junction City Blue Jays ( 10-4 ) 43-41 Friday night at MHS.

The Blue Jays led by four points with just over one minute to play and but failed to score on two possessions and Manhattan came back to tie the game before Wilson hit the game winning throws. Junction City had one final possession of the basketball but could not score.&nbsp;

Howard Johnson led Junction City with 20 points in the loss while Trey Holloway led the Indians with 10 and Jack Wilson finished 9 points.

The Blue Jays and Indians split their regular season series.

The ending of the ballgame was disappointing for the radio broadcasters. A key power cord providing electricity to the press table became unplugged, knocking out power for the broadcaster's equipment during the hectic finish of the ballgame.&nbsp;

The latest signees are quarterback&nbsp;Adryan Lara&nbsp;(Goodyear, Ariz.; Desert Edge), defensive back&nbsp;Jacob Parrish&nbsp;(Olathe, Kan.; Olathe North), athlete&nbsp;Tyson Struber&nbsp;(Galva, Kan.; Canton-Galva) and community-college defensive tackle&nbsp;Vaai Seumalo&nbsp;(Maunaloa, Hawai’i; Garden City CC).

Parrish and Struber are the third and fourth Wildcats from the state of Kansas, as K-State has signed at least four from the Sunflower State every year since 2010. TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Tom Brady, the most successful quarterback in NFL history, has retired after winning seven Super Bowls and setting numerous passing records in an unprecedented 22-year career.

“This is difficult for me to write, but here it goes: I am not going to make that competitive commitment anymore,” Brady wrote in a lengthy post on Instagram. “I have loved my NFL career, and now it is time to focus my time and energy on other things that require my attention.”

Brady has long stated his desire to spend more time with his wife, supermodel Gisele Bundchen, and three children despite still playing at the top of his game.

The 44-year-old Brady goes out after leading the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a Super Bowl title last season and NFC South championship this season.

News of Brady’s pending retirement leaked Saturday. His family and the Buccaneers denied that he had made a final decision, and he said Monday night on his SiriusXM podcast he wasn’t ready to finalize his plans.

“I’ve done a lot of reflecting the past week and have asked myself difficult questions,” Brady said in his post. “And I am so proud of what we have achieved. My teammates, coaches, fellow competitors, and fans deserve 100% of me, but right now, it’s best I leave the field of play to the next generation of dedicated and committed athletes.”

Brady thanked the Buccaneers organization, his teammates, ownership, general manager Jason Licht, coach Bruce Arians, his trainer Alex Guerrero, agents Don Yee and Steve Dubin and his family in his nine-page post. He didn’t mention the New England Patriots, where he spent his first 20 seasons and won six Super Bowls. Of course, Brady thanked the Patriots and coach Bill Belichick after he left the team to sign with the Buccaneers in March 2020.

“To the Glazer family, thank you for taking a chance on me and supporting me,” Brady said of the Bucs’ owners. “I know I was demanding at times, but you provided everything we needed to win, and your ownership was everything a player could ask for.”

Brady said he’s still figuring out how he’ll spend his time but he plans to be involved in his TB12 health and wellness company, Brady clothing line and NFT company.

Officially official: Tom Brady retires after 22 seasons, 7 Super Bowl titles

MANHATTAN, Kan.&nbsp;–&nbsp;Coming off an impressive 8-5 campaign that was capped by a victory over LSU in the TaxAct Texas Bowl, K-State athletics officials announced today a full menu of ticket options when season tickets go on sale on Wednesday, February 2.

Seven exciting home matchups, which includes a visit from former conference foe Missouri and four home Big 12 games, await the 2022 Wildcats, who return 13 players that made at least five starts a year ago in addition to several FBS transfers at key positions.

Fans will again be offered a variety of choices with season ticket options starting at less than $22 per game. All season ticket prices in Bill Snyder Family Stadium remain unchanged for 2022, including $150 view level season tickets and $199 season tickets for young alumni.

New season ticket holders, or 2021 season ticket holders who wish to change their seat location or add additional seats, can select their seat from any season ticket location that was available at the end of last season. At 8:30 a.m., on February 2, open locations will be available on a first-come, first-served basis to all fans, regardless of priority point status.

Fans who order by the incentive deadline of March 15 – which coincides with the due date of the Ahearn Fund 25% annual contribution – will receive $10 off the processing fee when ordering online.

Any locations that are currently occupied and dropped by 2021 season ticket holders during the renewal process will only be available during the online seat selection process beginning on May 23 at an appointment time designated in priority point order. Fans who renew or purchase 2022 season tickets by the April 22 priority deadline will be able to upgrade their location during this online seat selection process in May, while April 22 is also the deadline for season ticket holders to pre-order single-game tickets.

“Coming off a great bowl win, we are excited for the 2022 football season at Bill Snyder Family Stadium,” Athletics Director&nbsp;Gene Taylor&nbsp;said. “In addition to four Big 12 contests, we will have three straight non-conference games to open the year including a renewed matchup with Missouri, and we are proud to provide our fans with various ticket options. KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs followed perhaps the greatest 13 seconds in franchise history in the divisional round against the Bills with 13 seconds late in the first half of the AFC title game against Cincinnati that they'd rather just forget.

Not to mention most of the next 30 minutes and overtime.

In a loss both heartbreaking and humiliating, one of the league's prolific offenses failed to put the game away just before the break Sunday, then never reached the end zone in the second half. The Bengals took advantage of Kansas City's many mistakes to dig out of a 21-3 hole, force overtime and watch Evan McPherson drill a 31-yard field goal for a 27-24 victory, giving the long-downtrodden franchise its first conference championship in 33 years.

“It's definitely disappointing,” said Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who threw for 275 yards and three touchdowns but also had two second-half interceptions, including one in overtime that gave the Bengals the chance to drive for the win.

“With this group of guys we have,” Mahomes said, “we expect to win that game and anything less is not success.”

As the Bengals spilled off the sideline in celebration, the Chiefs slumped in their seats — a complete reversal of the previous week, when the Chiefs beat the Bills in overtime in one of the most exhilarating games in NFL history.

Making the about-face all the more shocking was that it was the Chiefs' offense that let them down.

Mahomes was 18 of 21 for 220 yards and three scores in the first half, finding Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce for big gains almost at will. His quarterback rating was nearly perfect, as was the Kansas City offense, and coach Andy Reid's team built a 21-10 lead and was 30 minutes away from a third straight trip to the Super Bowl.

The only flub came when the Chiefs had the ball first-and-goal at the Bengals 5 with — you guessed it — 13 seconds left, the exact same amount of time it took them to drive 44 yards for the field goal to force overtime against Buffalo.

This time, Mahomes threw incomplete on first down. Then he completed a short pass to Hill, who was stopped short of the goal line as the clock expired, and Kansas City squandered a chance to extend its lead.

“We were trying to score a touchdown,” Reid said, “so any way we could score a touchdown, we were trying. In hindsight, I would tell you the passes weren't working. We should try to run it. We were just trying to get in the end zone.”

It turned out to be a harbinger of the rest of the game.

The Chiefs punted on each of their first two second-half possessions. The third ended when Mahomes had a pass batted in the air and caught by 311-pound defensive tackle B.J. Hill, setting up Joe Burrow's touchdown pass to Ja'Marr Chase and the ensuing 2-point conversion that tied the game 21-all heading to the fourth quarter.

Then the Chiefs' offensive line, which had run over the Bengals in the first half, began letting them down. Hill and Trey Hendrickson combined on a sack to force a three-and-out, then Hendrickson had a sack of his own to force another three-and-out, that one giving the Bengals an opportunity to march downfield for a go-ahead field goal.

The Chiefs finally showed some resolve, answering 21 straight points by Cincinnati with a long drive of their own. But the red zone left them seeing red one more time: With first-and-goal and less than 2 minutes left, Jerick McKinnon was stuffed and Mahomes was sacked by Sam Hubbard on back-to-back plays.

The Chiefs were fortunate that Harrison Butker, whose 49-yarder sent the Chiefs to overtime with Buffalo, calmly drilled another one from 44 yards at the opposite end of the field to keep their Super Bowl hopes alive.

And it appeared fate was shining on the Chiefs once again when backup Bengals quarterback Brandon Allen called heads and the coin flip landed tails — the exact opposite result of the previous week, when Bills quarterback Josh Allen called tails and the Chiefs took the only possession of overtime for the winning score.

That's where the similarities ended, though.

Mahomes threw an incomplete pass, then nearly had a pass picked by Bengals cornerback Eli Apple, before launching a throw toward Hill down the sideline. The ball was batted in the air by Jessie Bates III, who was perfectly position to make the play, and into the waiting hands of Bengals safety Vonn Bell.

Burrow and the Bengals didn't give Kansas City another chance.

With the game now sudden death, they breezed downfield and into the range of McPherson, who turned around in triumph even before his winning kick had passed through the uprights inside stunned Arrowhead Stadium.

“You know, deflated would be a good way to describe it,” Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu said. “But I'm proud of the way we continued to fight throughout the season. I'm proud of the way we stuck together, proud of our coaches, proud of the way we continue to take bullets for us. It's a lot of good to think about. I'm grateful for the opportunity. But I think any time you come up short, you know you could be better, it's obviously deflating.”

Brady’s company posted a tweet indicating he’s retiring, and reaction came from around the world congratulating Brady on his career. But the tweet was later deleted, and Brady’s agent says the 44-year-old quarterback would be the only person to accurately express his future. Brady called Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht to say he has not made a decision, according to two people who spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because of the private nature of the conversations.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. –&nbsp;The United States Olympic &amp; Paralympic Committee has announced the 222-member 2022 U.S. Olympic Team that will compete at the upcoming Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022.

The Opening Ceremony will take place Friday, Feb. 4, with competition beginning Feb. 2 and concluding Sunday, Feb. 20. “The Olympic Games showcases the best of humanity and sport competition, and Beijing 2022 will be no different. The 222 incredible athletes who make up Team USA are not only ready to compete, but they are ready to make this country proud,” said USOPC CEO Sarah Hirshland. “The USOPC and the National Governing Bodies are committed to taking every step to keep our athletes safe, supported and championed as they live out their sporting dreams.” The 2022 U.S. Olympic Team features 99 returning Olympians, including four five-time Olympians – Shaun White in halfpipe snowboarding, Lindsey Jacobellis in snowboardcross, Katie Uhlaender in skeleton and John Shuster in curling. ●The roster of 222 athletes is the second largest U.S. contingent ever at the Olympic Winter Games, behind the 228-member team at PyeongChang 2018, and equaling the 222 named to the Sochi 2014 team. This will be the sixth U.S. winter delegation with over 200 athletes, all since 2002.

●Thirty-one states will be represented on the 2022 U.S. Olympic Team, with the largest contingents coming from California (29), Colorado (23) and Minnesota (23).

●The youngest member of Team USA in Beijing will be Alysa Liu, who was born on Aug. 8, 2005, and will be only 16 years and 6 months old when she competes in figure skating. The youngest man on Team USA will be Jordan Stolz in speedskating, who will turn 18 on May 21, 2022.

●The oldest member of Team USA will be Nick Baumgartner, competing in his fourth Olympic Winter Games in snowboarding, who turned 40 on Dec. 17, 2021. The oldest woman will be Katie Uhlaender in skeleton, also in her fourth Olympic Winter Games, who turned 37 on July 17, 2021.

 ●Ninety-nine members of Team USA in Beijing have previous Olympic appearances, with 88 of them having competed at the Olympic Winter Games and 11 having appeared at the Youth Olympic Winter Games. ●Of the 222 U.S. athletes heading to Beijing, more than 35% (84 athletes) competed collegiately across 43 schools. Four U.S. sport teams have at least 75% collegiate participation: men’s and women’s ice hockey (100%), bobsled (83%) and biathlon (75%). More than one-third of the women’s ice hockey team competed at the University of Minnesota, while U.S. bobsledders competed collegiately in five different sports: track and field, football, softball, lacrosse and basketball. College athlete representation on the 2022 U.S. Olympic Team spans all three NCAA Divisions (I, II and III), as well as collegiate club programs.

●Shaun White will be aiming for his fourth gold medal in halfpipe snowboarding. If he wins, he will become only the ninth Olympian to win individual gold medals at four Olympic Games, and only the second to do so at the Olympic Winter Games, after Ireen Wüst in speedskating for the Netherlands.

This will be the sixth U.S. winter delegation with over 200 athletes, all since 2002.●Thirty-one states will be represented on the 2022 U.S. Olympic Team, with the largest contingents coming from California (29), Colorado (23) and Minnesota (23).●The 2022 roster includes 107 women and 115 men. The 107 women in 2022, will be the largest ever female contingent for Team USA at an Olympic Winter Games, after 101 women competed at PyeongChang 2018 and 100 at Sochi 2014.●The youngest member of Team USA in Beijing will be Alysa Liu, who was born on Aug. 8, 2005, and will be only 16 years and 6 months old when she competes in figure skating. The youngest man on Team USA will be Jordan Stolz in speedskating, who will turn 18 on May 21, 2022.●The oldest member of Team USA will be Nick Baumgartner, competing in his fourth Olympic Winter Games in snowboarding, who turned 40 on Dec. 17, 2021. The oldest woman will be Katie Uhlaender in skeleton, also in her fourth Olympic Winter Games, who turned 37 on July 17, 2021. ●Ninety-nine members of Team USA in Beijing have previous Olympic appearances, with 88 of them having competed at the Olympic Winter Games and 11 having appeared at the Youth Olympic Winter Games. This will be the most experienced U.S. winter Olympic team ever, with 45% of the team having competed previously at an Olympic Winter Games.●Four U.S. athletes will be competing in their fifth Olympic Winter Games – Shaun White and Lindsey Jacobellis in snowboarding, Katie Uhlaender in skeleton and John Shuster in curling. All of them competed in 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018.●Bobsledders Sylvia Hoffman and Josh Williamson make the 2022 U.S. Olympic Team after winning Team USA’s Next Olympic Hopeful contest. ●Fifty-four members of Team USA will make their Olympic debuts in Beijing.●Eighteen members of Team USA have won Olympic medals, led by Mikaela Shiffrin in alpine skiing, Kaillie Humphries (previously of Team Canada) and Elana Meyers Taylor in bobsled, Hilary Knight in ice hockey, and Shaun White and Jamie Anderson in snowboarding – all with three Olympic medals.●Of the 222 U.S. athletes heading to Beijing, more than 35% (84 athletes) competed collegiately across 43 schools. Four U.S. sport teams have at least 75% collegiate participation: men’s and women’s ice hockey (100%), bobsled (83%) and biathlon (75%). More than one-third of the women’s ice hockey team competed at the University of Minnesota, while U.S. bobsledders competed collegiately in five different sports: track and field, football, softball, lacrosse and basketball. College athlete representation on the 2022 U.S. Olympic Team spans all three NCAA Divisions (I, II and III), as well as collegiate club programs.●Shaun White will be aiming for his fourth gold medal in halfpipe snowboarding. If he wins, he will become only the ninth Olympian to win individual gold medals at four Olympic Games, and only the second to do so at the Olympic Winter Games, after Ireen Wüst in speedskating for the Netherlands.●Jamie Anderson will be looking to win her third consecutive gold medal in slopestyle snowboarding. If she succeeds, she will equal the three-peat of Bonnie Blair, who won the 500-meter speedskating race at three consecutive Olympic Winter Games in 1988-94.●Hilary Knight has three Olympic medals in ice hockey, with one gold and two silvers. If Team USA women’s ice hockey can make the podium again, Knight will equal Angela Ruggiero, Jenny Schmidgall-Potter and Julie Chu with four Olympic ice hockey medals, the most ever by U.S. women.●David Wise will be looking for his third consecutive gold medal in halfpipe freestyle skiing. If he does so, he will become the first U.S. man to win three consecutive gold medals in the same event at the Olympic Winter Games, and only the sixth man from any nation to do so in an individual event.●Mikaela Shiffrin enters Beijing with two gold medals, the most ever by a U.S. alpine skier, equaling Ted Ligety and Andrea Mead-Lawrence.
