Maria De Lourdes (Martinez) Jimenez, 60 years old, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, November 25, 2022, at&nbsp;Ascension Via Christi St. Francis, in Wichita, Kansas.

The
 daughter of Jesus Martinez Sr. and Lydia (Carmona) Martinez, she was 
born on February 25, 1962, in Zaragoza, Coahuila, Mexico.

&nbsp;She
 and Asuncion “Chon” Jimenez were married on February 28, 2006, in 
Elkhart, Kansas. He preceded her in death on August 19, 2018.

Maria
 was a loved woman by many outside of her family. She was caring and had
 a personality that people enjoyed being around and interacting with. 
Maria enjoyed all things grandchildren from loving them endlessly to 
spending time with them as much as time allowed. Her children knew her 
love ran deeply for them, and she enjoyed each of them. Her hobbies 
included raising farm animals, going to horse races, and dancing.

Her
 survivors include five sons, Marcus Bucher and wife Megan, Hays, KS., 
Daniel Bucher, Wichita, KS., Luis Jimenez, Hugoton, KS., Gabe Jimenez 
and wife Barbie, Winfield, KS., Shawn Jimenez and wife Kayla, Woodward, 
OK.; three daughters, Angela Bucher, Manhattan, KS., Adrianna Bucher, 
Hugoton, KS., Brianna Bucher, Manhattan, KS.; fifteen grandchildren, 
Peyton Bucher, Parker Bucher, Mya Bucher, Giovanni Bucher, Lilliana 
Bucher, Tatiana Rueda, Arianna DeLeon, Elianna DeLeon, Issac DeLeon, 
Challen Jimenez, Cody Jimenez, Madison Jimenez, Zachary Jimenez, Avery 
Jimenez, and Carter Jimenez; three brothers, Marco Martinez, Jesse

Margaret Mae Suiter, 84, passed away on November 24, 2022 at Homestead Health Center in Wichita, Kansas. She was born October 29, 1938, in St. Clair County, Missouri, the first of three daughters born to Albert B. and Allie Marguerite Suiter. Margaret had several lifelong disabilities but refused to be limited by them. She enjoyed taking pictures and keeping photo albums, writing letters, reading, and country music. Though she never left the home of her parents, family will fondly remember how she liked to take charge of the household by doing daily chores, making sure all the kids behaved when visiting, and keeping track of just about everything and everyone. Her strong will and independent spirit will be dearly missed and admired by family and friends. Survived by her youngest sister, Betty; her nieces, Natalie Fleming, Penny Rice, and Angela Chavez; her nephews, Bill Kausler and Michael Scott; and many more extended family members. In her free time, she loved to spend time in her flower garden, watch birds play in the bird baths, and walking her dogs. She was also a member of First Christian Church and was very active in the women's bible study groups. EllaMae Argo, age 88, of Marysville, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2022, at Community Memorial Health Care in Marysville.

EllaMae was born May 5, 1934, in Forest City, Iowa to Carl and Daisy W. (Weaver) Prescott.&nbsp; After high school she went on to study nursing at Iowa Lutheran Hospital and became a Registered Nurse. She began her nursing career at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.&nbsp; While there she attended Omaha Bible Institute where she met her future husband Don.&nbsp; They were married on June 11, 1956, at Forest City, Iowa.&nbsp; After Don completed Medical School he spent a short term in the US Army, EllaMae and Don then moved to Marysville in 1965, where they raised there seven children.

EllaMae was very active in child evangelism and enjoyed working with the AWANA program with the Berean Church.&nbsp; EllaMae and Don were instrumental in building both Victory Baptist Church and the Berean Church.&nbsp; She also enjoyed cross stitch, spending many hours making quilt blocks for others who made the quilts.&nbsp; She loved her family and worked to ensure each of them knew her Lord.

Survivors include her husband Don, their seven children: Dr. Tanya (Dr. Chris Striebich) Argo of Denver, Colorado, Kathy (David) Totten of Marysville, Tim (Shannon) Argo of Rochester, Minnesota, Matt (Christy) Argo of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Mike (Marsha) Argo of Clay Center, Cheryl (Roy) Hanschu of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Jon (Mindy) Argo of Bremen, a sister Dorothy (Arnie) Karch of Bozeman, Montana, thirteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Preceding EllaMae in death were her parents, a sister Frances Prescott, a brother John Prescott and a great grandson Beckett Totten.

Michele Kowalski, 54 of Clay Center, died Saturday, November 26, 2022 at her residence.&nbsp; She was born September 2, 1968 in Erie, Pennsylvania, the daughter of George and Carol (Auer) Kowalski.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Michele grew up in Erie until the age of 8 when her father’s military service took the family to Germany for 3 years.&nbsp; They then lived in Manhattan, Topeka and Clay Center.&nbsp; Michele was a registered nurse and worked at Select Medical Care and St. Francis Hospital in Topeka and for Medicalodge in Clay Center.&nbsp; She is preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her son, Sam Kowalski of Manhattan, Kansas; sister: Katie Grove and Charles Hallman of Clay Center, Kansas; nephew, Austin Gilbert and niece Vera Hallman.

Jamie Jones, passed away on November 22, 2022, in Manhattan, KS. He was 32 years old.

Jamie was born in Greenville, North Carolina in 1990. He spent his early years in North Carolina and moved with his family to Manhattan, KS in 1994.

Jamie is survived by his loving parents, Roy James Jones, Jr. and Carla Edwards Jones of the home, and by his loving sister, Lindsey Jones Johnson, Nashville, TN. His maternal grandparents were Freeman Edwards and Esther Cargill Edwards, deceased, of West Palm Beach, FL. Jamie was a Christian and gave his life to the Lord at the age of 9. He was active in the youth ministry of the Manhattan Church of Christ, where he participated in Bible Bowl and Leadership Training for Christ competitions in Oklahoma and Kansas. He was named an Outstanding Camper at Silver Maple Church Camp and was an avid swimmer. Jamie attended Rock Hills Church in his later years.

Jamie loved to travel with his family and friends. His favorite trips were to Kansas State University bowl games, Disneyworld and Disneyland, Denver, Miami, and New Orleans, with many trips to concerts and the beach. Spring Break trips with friends were some of his most memorable and fun times.

Jamie loved sports of all kinds. He tried his hand at several activities, including piano, martial arts, guitar, and drums. He played parks and recreation T-Ball, soccer, and baseball. He played youth golf with Earl Woods First Tee Academy at Colbert Hills Golf Course. But his real love was football. He loved the Dallas Cowboys and the Miami Hurricanes football teams. He played two years with the Manhattan Panthers football team and with Anthony Middle School football team. He also played freshman football at Manhattan High School. Jamie was also part of the MHS junior varsity and varsity football teams. In his junior year, his team went to substate against Hutchinson High, and had a devastating loss before the state championship game. Jamie lettered for two years, and he earned his "Bones" his senior year. In addition to other awards, Jamie was named the outstanding player on his team, winning the Jack Wilson Award. He was honored on a plaque still on display at Manhattan High School. Jamie was honored as a second team selection for the Kansas Shrine Bowl. Jamie excelled at sports data and was the luckiest person we knew.

Jamie signed for college football at Fort Scott Community College. After Fort Scott, Jamie attended Kansas State University while working various jobs in the community, working for Larson Construction for the last several years.

Jamie brought sunshine into our lives every day. We loved him and will miss him. May God continue to bless all who knew him and were touched by this incredible person.

Family visitation will be on Friday, December 2, 2022, from 5-7 p.m. at Manhattan Church of Christ, 2510 Dickens Avenue, Manhattan, KS 66502. Homegoing services will be on Saturday, December 3 at 11 a.m. at Manhattan Church of Christ. Interment will take place at a later date.&nbsp;

He tried his hand at several activities, including piano, martial arts, guitar, and drums. He played parks and recreation T-Ball, soccer, and baseball. He played youth golf with Earl Woods First Tee Academy at Colbert Hills Golf Course. But his real love was football. He loved the Dallas Cowboys and the Miami Hurricanes football teams. He played two years with the Manhattan Panthers football team and with Anthony Middle School football team. He also played freshman football at Manhattan High School. Jamie was also part of the MHS junior varsity and varsity football teams. In his junior year, his team went to substate against Hutchinson High, and had a devastating loss before the state championship game. Jamie lettered for two years, and he earned his "Bones" his senior year. In addition to other awards, Jamie was named the outstanding player on his team, winning the Jack Wilson Award. He was honored on a plaque still on display at Manhattan High School. Jamie was honored as a second team selection for the Kansas Shrine Bowl. Jamie excelled at sports data and was the luckiest person we knew.Jamie signed for college football at Fort Scott Community College. After Fort Scott, Jamie attended Kansas State University while working various jobs in the community, working for Larson Construction for the last several years.Jamie brought sunshine into our lives every day. We loved him and will miss him. Little Theater. She was born on September 21, 1929, the daughter of Vane and Gladys Schierbaum on a farm near Concordia, Kansas. Ramona graduated from Concordia High School in 1947, then obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Ottawa University in 1951. In 1949, she married Lloyd Printz of Clay Center, Kansas. They had three children; Gregory, Bradley, and Deanna. In 1993, married Don Smith. Ramona taught piano lessons and music education classes for over forty years. Twenty of those years were spent at Junction City High School teaching piano, music theory, and vocal classes. For many years, Ramona spent her time serving as a musical director, accompanist, and seamstress for many theater productions at the JC Little Theater. She also dedicated time to the First Presbyterian Church by playing the organ for around twenty years, she wrote church articles for the monthly newsletter for over twelve years, and served two terms as an elder. Over the years, Ramona was a very active member of the community and advocate for arts in many capacities. She also advocated for equal pay for women in the school district. Not only did she get to teach and share her passion of music, but she also helped celebrate the small achievements with her students. Her positive outlook and wonderful presence will be dearly missed. Fun Facts: She had two separates holes-in-one while playing golf, of which she was so proud. After retirement, Ramona enjoyed traveling with Don on many different adventures. She wrote her memoirs in her seventies, which is over three-hundred pages and has so many rich memories to pass on to her loved ones. At the age of seventy, she performed a full piano recital at the church. Ramona was nominated for the Master Teacher Award in 1985. Lastly, she was a contestant on The Price Is Right in 2004. She met the late Joe Martinez and the two were married on February 6, 1955. They soon welcomed four children throughout their marriage. After the end of their marriage, Joan met and married Doil DePew on July 22, 1984 and the two remained together until Doil's passing in March 1995. Joan is survived by her best friend and loyal companion who has always been by her side, her dog, Chika Bonita; her children, J. Micheal (Siegrid Sloan) Martinez, Deborah J. (James) Glessner-Heggie, Jolita M. (Kenton) Tully, and Stephen (Stacey Rucker) Martinez; her siblings, Lois Wier, Karen Rhondenbaugh, and Edith Hurting; her five grandchildren, Jasmine Glessner, Shane Glessner, Andrya Mertz, Leticia Martinez and Kayla Tully; and four great-grandchildren. She was born on April 3rd, 1938, to Xavier and Elsa (Schlosser) Wanner in Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany. She immigrated to the United States after marrying Tracy Ransom, Sr in 1960, and raised six children; Erika, Hans Peter, Thomas, Robert Leroy, William and Tracy Ransom, Jr. As an Army wife, she lived in various places throughout the US and came to love this country. She became a Naturalized Citizen in 1967. Over the years, she enjoyed work in the Hospitality field and as a Homemaker. You could often find her fishing, playing BINGO, trying her luck at the slot machine, or as was often the case, sitting at her kitchen table having coffee while visiting with family and friends. She always kept an eye out for Indigo Buntings and the many Hummingbirds that frequented the feeder outside her window. Erika’s laughter and smile were truly infectious! She was always willing to get up early to make her children, grandchildren and even a neighbor or two, a German Pancake! She was a strong and resilient woman, who will be missed greatly by her family and friends. Erika is survived by one brother, Franz Wanner of Germany; one sister, Heide (Gottfrid) Koso of Chicago, Illinois; and her four sons; Hans Peter Ransom of Claremore, Oklahoma, Thomas Ransom of Coco Beach, Florida, William Exavier (Lynn) Ransom of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Tracy (Andrea) Ransom, Jr. of Jacksonville, Florida; and one daughter, Erika (Quintin) Hatchett of Milford, Kansas. Greg(ory) Douglas Wells, age 71 of Manhattan, died peacefully with his children by his side on Friday, November 25, 2022, at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, Kansas.&nbsp;

Greg was born on January 4, 1951, in Manhattan, KS to Guy Justin and Leota Mae (Pascal) Wells. He joined his sister Barb at home in Manhattan where he lived until graduating high school in 1969. While growing up he was an active member of the local boy scout troop, where he earned Eagle Scout status. He was also a member of the Manhattan High School football team and choir.&nbsp;

He met his future wife Denise Ann Dixon in middle school through the United Methodist Church in Manhattan. On December 20, 1970, they were joined in marriage there as well. After marriage, he and Denise were at home in Emporia, KS, where he attended the Emporia State Teacher’s College and was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon.&nbsp;

In 1977, Greg and Denise joined his sister Barb and her husband Larry in the management of the Tiawah Hills Dude Ranch, in Claremore, Oklahoma. His love of horses was well suited to, the job. In 1980, his daughter, Samantha Kate was born, soon followed by Sean Alan in 1981.&nbsp; The family moved back to Manhattan, KS in 1982.&nbsp; Greg resided with his wife Denise and children at the house on North 48th&nbsp;Street until its loss to a grass fire in 2018.

Greg worked as an office specialist in the KSU Division of Biology for 30+ years. While at K-State he led many 1st&nbsp;grade field trips through the building learning about the natural history and wildlife of the area. Greg was an active adult leader of the Riley, KS Boy Scout troop and enjoyed teaching the boys and young men some of the finer arts of camping skills.&nbsp;

To some, Greg was known (or unknown) as Santa Claus for the Sedalia Church Christmas program or the Santa Paws fundraiser for the Humane Society held and the Candlewood Veterinary Clinic. To others, he was the “Voice of the Falcons”, announcing many different sports events over the years. He joked that once he announced an entire football game without a microphone. His voice was ‘booming’ enough to do just that – you always knew when Greg had entered the room. What many don’t know, is that he managed to do all of that while also caring for his wife, Denise through her extended illness. He was a devoted husband who’s love and commitment to his wife never wavered. He was also the most supportive, caring, fun, and loving father and grandfather.&nbsp;

In his later years, Greg’s mobility had been greatly reduced to due an injury from a fall in 2014. After the fire, Greg resided in Redbud Estates, where he remained until just recently. In this time, he enjoyed the continuation of his lifelong love of trivia and crossword puzzles (in pen) and watching football. If you visited Greg, you could almost guarantee that a game or program relating to football would be on.&nbsp;

He is survived by his children, Samantha Nott and her husband Eric of Shawnee, KS, and Sean Wells and his wife Christina of Margaretville, NY; his sister Barb(ara) Turnbull and her husband Larry of Downingtown, PA; two grandchildren, Brayden Wells and Dixon Nott. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Carol Dixon, and sisters-in-law, Madelyn Short (Terry), and Cheri Vines (Billie).&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Denise Ann Dixon in 2002; his parents; father-in-law, Lyle Dixon, and nephew, Brian Hood.&nbsp;

LaVone Erickson, 94 died November 25, 2022, in Clay Center, KS.&nbsp; She was born on March 22, 1928, in Clay Center, the daughter of John Bernard and Lottie (Wachsnicht) Lind.&nbsp; LaVone was raised in Clay Center and was a Class of 1945 graduate from Clay Center High School.&nbsp; She married Oran Erickson on October 19, 1947.&nbsp; LaVone worked as the Deputy Register of Deeds for six years.&nbsp; She also served on the Clay County Election Board for 35 years.&nbsp; Oran preceded her in death on April 10, 2017.&nbsp; LaVone was a member of the Clay Center Presbyterian Church.&nbsp; She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Ronald Erickson; granddaughter, Lisa Erickson; sister, Bernice Berggren; brother, LeRoy Lind

Harold Frederick Hartner

John Wesley Willey III, Topeka, KS, left this world to join his beloved wife on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at the age of 84. He was born October 2nd, 1938 in Solomon, KS–the only child to John Wesley Willey Jr and Henrietta M Wolfe. A graduate of Solomon High School, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Arlene P Haymond of Salina, KS on June 5, 1960. They lived in Solomon for 31 years and together welcomed three children: a son, John Wesley Willey IV, and twin daughters, Linda and Brenda. In 1992, John and Arlene moved to Abilene, KS. Sadly, Arlene passed away on Dec 2, 2002 and John moved to Topeka, KS shortly after this, where he resided with Mary Wright. John began his lifelong career as a Civil Engineer with Wilson and Company Engineering and Architects, Salina, KS, at the age of 18. Notably, his first engineering assignment was the design and construction of I-70 at Abilene. Over the next 4 decades, he was involved in all major infrastructure improvements for the City of Abilene and was hired as Abilene’s City Engineer in 1989. He spent the next 12 years there before retiring in 2001. His most significant contribution was the construction of the first reverse osmosis municipal water treatment plant in the state of Kansas. He was thoroughly involved as a member of the free masons; serving as Secretary for 25 years at the local level and as a former officer of the Grand Lodge of Kansas. Attending the annual Solomon lodge picnic each June with his family was one event he perpetually looked forward to. He was a man of few words with a quiet, witty sense of humor. Incredibly wise and intelligent, he was the kind of person that when he spoke, everyone listened. Although he was quite stubborn and independent himself, he would drop everything to do anything for his loved ones. John and Arlene were their grandchildren’s greatest fans, cheering at every sporting or musical event they were able to attend and taking them on countless day-trip vacations including tours of Big Brutus, old steam engines, airplanes, and fishing. He was known as the grandpa who believed in donuts and Oreo cookies for breakfast and he always had some kind of candy or cookie to bring each time he visited. An avid NASCAR fan, John often enjoyed a nap with the race playing in the background. His love for his various dogs and cats throughout his life was apparent, and anyone who knew him will always picture him in his wardrobe staples—cowboy boots and sweaters year-round. John was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene. He leaves behind his son, John (Jason) Willey IV, Topeka, KS; Linda (Joe) Duntz, Manhattan, KS; Brenda (Mike)Yamamoto, Colorado Springs, CO; 5 Grandchildren: Dustin, Ashley, TJ, James, &amp; Andrew; and 6 Great Grandchildren. George Hubert Zurmely, 93 of Chapman, Kansas passed away November 25, 2022. He was born September 25, 1929 in Detroit, Kansas to Lawrence Hubert and Alice Reba (Poor) Zurmely. George grew up in the Chapman area, attended the local schools and graduated from Dickinson County High School in Chapman. After graduating from high school he worked at the Union Pacific Railroad as a laborer. He later went on to serve in the United States Navy for three years. He was united in marriage to Alberta Belle Greenwood on March 4, 1955. She preceded him in death January 18, 2020. George worked for Ft. Riley Civil Services in the housing department and transportation.

 George is survived by his five daughters, Debora Kay Fowler; Frances Marie Baldwin; Katherine Elizabeth Zsoka; Susan Dianne Marten and Mary Ann Cairns and one son, George Dwight Zurmely. Seventeen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and two sisters, Cecilia and Frances.

 Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Chapman with Fr. Peter O’Donnell as Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Chapman. Parish Rosary will be recited Tuesday evening at the church at 5:00 p.m., with visitation to follow. George Hubert Zurmely

Joyce LaVaun (Ruggles) Rein passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, surrounded by family, on November 24, 2022, in Abilene, Kansas at the age of 87. She was born February 16, 1935, to William and Vera (Bittner) Ruggles in Great Bend, Kansas. She was orphaned at a young age and raised by her Uncle Carl and Aunt Alice Bittner. Joyce lived much of her childhood in Great Bend and Bazine, Kansas, graduating from Bazine High School in 1954. Shortly after graduation, on December 30, 1954, she married Valis Leon Rein. Most of their married life was spent in Abilene, Kansas. For over 30 years Joyce worked as a school cook for USD 435. They had five children: daughter, Vicki (Steve) Gieber; sons, Johnny Rein, Verlyn (Pamela) Rein, Ronald (Debbie) Rein, and Curtis (Sandy) Rein, all of Abilene.

She is survived by 4 children, 12 grandchildren; Tammy Stroda, Randy Stroda, Jakob Stroda, Rick Rein, Angela Carranza, Matt Rein, Brandon Rein, and Corinne Garrison, step-grandchildren; Nathan and Jacine Gieber, Tracey and Tabetha Copenhaver, 21 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Donna (Ruggles) Switzer, and two close cousins, Shirla Holmes, and Barbara Bedwell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Valis; son, Johnny Rein; and granddaughter, Erika Rein-Mills.

Joyce was spunky, witty, adventuresome, strong-willed, accepting, and filled with beauty and grace. She was a master of reusing, repurposing, and pinching pennies, such as, plastic bread bags for overshoes, zip-lock baggies washed and reused (many times), and no more than 3 inches of water in the bathtub on bath night. An accomplished seamstress, she made most of her children’s clothes. Joyce could climb trees, ride bikes, run races, roller skate, turn cartwheels, hula-hoop, swing a bat as well as a hammer. She loved to sing and dance and was a girl scout and cub scout leader, a carpenter, and master cook and cleaner. She had a special love for all her grandchildren and would do anything for them, including babysitting, chauffeuring, and spoiling with them with their favorite treats. Her children were blessed with a “Super Mom” …there was nothing she could not do!! But most of all, for her family, she was unconditional love…she was home.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, December 2, 2022, 1:00 p.m. at Community Bible Church, 1400 N. Cedar, Abilene, KS, with interment at the Abilene Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 1, 2022, between 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW 3rd Street, Abilene, KS. In lieu of flowers, her family requests memorials be donated to the Abilene Senior Center, where Joyce enjoyed friendship and fellowship for many years. Joyce LaVaun (Ruggles) Rein

Evelyn Y. Richardson, age 91, died November 23, 2022, at Ascension Via Christi Village in Manhattan.

She was born December 11, 1930, in the Council Grove Hospital in Council Grove, Kansas, the daughter of Jim and Edna (Albin) Veal. Evelyn spent her ‘growing up years’ in Morris County.

She was a junior in high school at Wilsey, Kansas when she met her future husband Jug, after he returned from World War II. She was married to William “Jug” Richardson, Jr. on September 2, 1950, in Wilsey, KS. They lived in Wilsey until moving to Manhattan in 2005. He preceded her in death on December 31, 2021, after 71 years of marriage.

After graduating Wilsey high school, she attended Emporia State Teachers college receiving her BS and Master’s Degree in Education. Evelyn retired after teaching 30 years in Morris County, in Wilsey Grade School.

Her hobbies were grandchildren, baking pies, gardening, flowers and thrift shops.

They wintered in South Padre Island, TX and Southern California after retiring.

She was a member of the Wilsey Christian Church and Eastern Star.

Survivors include her three daughters: Diane Haddock of Denver, Colorado, Denise Klimek and her husband Ed of Manhattan, and Pam Smith and her husband Gary of Wilsey, KS; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and one sister Marjorie Gose of Wichita, KS.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her sister Neva Parks.

Cremation is planned with a Celebration of her life to be held at a later date.

He preceded her in death on December 31, 2021, after 71 years of marriage.After graduating Wilsey high school, she attended Emporia State Teachers college receiving her BS and Master’s Degree in Education. Evelyn retired after teaching 30 years in Morris County, in Wilsey Grade School.Her hobbies were grandchildren, baking pies, gardening, flowers and thrift shops.They wintered in South Padre Island, TX and Southern California after retiring.She was a member of the Wilsey Christian Church and Eastern Star.Survivors include her three daughters: Diane Haddock of Denver, Colorado, Denise Klimek and her husband Ed of Manhattan, and Pam Smith and her husband Gary of Wilsey, KS; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and one sister Marjorie Gose of Wichita, KS.Evelyn was preceded in death by her sister Neva Parks.Cremation is planned with a Celebration of her life to be held at a later date.Memorial contributions may be made to the Wilsey Christian Church. Denise Torrey, 65, of St. George, Kaas passed away Friday, November 25, 2022 at the Hospice House in Manhattan, Kansas.

Denise was born to Virlin Lee and Mary Pearl Fleming on August 5th, 1957, in Wamego, Kansas. Denise grew up on a farm and attended St. George High School where she met her beloved husband, Dudley Torrey. The pair shared their first date the night of her high school graduation in 1975. They were united in marriage on September 2, 1978, and had three children. The couple enjoyed attending their grandchildren's sporting events, spending time with family and friends, fishing, camping, boating, and going on drives together. Her children made her a grandma (mamaw, gram) to nine grandchildren. Motherhood was Denise’s greatest joy and being a grandma her greatest blessing. Denise delighted in spending time with her grandchildren. Together they went to the movies, on summer camping trips, 4-wheeling adventures, trips to Oceans and Worlds of Fun, birthday shopping, they put together puzzles, played card games, and more.

Denise was a pillar of strength and resilience, she cared for all of her children and husband through life threatening illnesses and her optimism and stability never wavered. Even when facing cancer, Denise continued to face each hurdle with grace, strength, and hope.

Denise was an eternal optimist and exuded positivity at all times. She sought adventure and found fun and laughter in any situation. Denise bungee jumped in her 30s, dirt-biked through her 40s, zip-lined in her 50s, and cliff jumped in her 60s. She loved camping, fishing, boating, celebrating St. Patty’s Day, and sledding on the perfect snow followed by a fresh cup of hot cocoa. Denise cared for her strawberry garden and flowers, fed birds, squirrels, outdoor fish, and toads. She always said, “the mess will be there tomorrow, there’s fun to be had today”.

Denise was a devoted employee of Walmart for close to 35 years before she retired in 2020. Denise met many coworkers who became good friends. Denise also enjoyed a circle of friends who enjoyed family camping trips throughout the years, lunches, card parties, and Christmas home tours. Denise was a member of the St. Joseph’s church for 20 years. She had a giving heart and sponsored many children through UNBOUND and donated to K-LOVE.

Denise is survived by her husband, Dudley Torrey, and three children Dudley Caleb Torrey (Natalie), Jess Torrey (Jennifer), and Megan Todd (Jared). Her nine grandchildren: Avery Torrey (Nicole), Clarissa Torrey, Vivian Torrey, Ruby Torrey, Tristyn Torrey, Aidan Torrey, Maddox Ibarra, Marcello Ibarra, and Isabel Todd. Her sister Vicki Westgate (Scott), brother Kevin Fleming, sister Colleen Lubbers (Jason). Sister-in-laws Carol Eichman (Ed), Ruth Cassity, and brother-in-law Steve Torrey (Terry) and Monty Peterson. Joseph “Francis” Minihan, 89, of Blaine, Kansas, died Thursday, November 24, 2022, at the Onaga Community Hospital.&nbsp; He was a life-long resident of the area.

Francis was born February 21, 1933, in Wamego, Kansas, the son of John Francis and Lillian (Smith) Minihan.&nbsp; He attended local grade school and graduated from Blaine High School in 1951.

Francis was a farmer and stockman, operating the family farm just east of Blaine.&nbsp; He also worked in Topeka for Henry Manufacturing Company and Goodyear Tire Company.&nbsp; He then worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation as an equipment operator.&nbsp; He was a member of St. Columbkille’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.&nbsp; His hobby was also his work.&nbsp; He loved to farm.

Francis married Martha J. Priddy, on August 24, 1963, in Topeka, Kansas.&nbsp; She survives at their home.

He is also survived by his daughter; Karen Ebert (Kyle), St. Mary and his sons; Joseph Michael Minihan, Blaine, Kevin Patrick Minihan (Cathy), Blaine, Mark Allen Minihan (Carol), Wheaton, and Gerald Francis Minihan (Christi), Rossville; his 13 Grandchildren, T. J. John Franklin Kaiser, age 79, of Manhattan, died Saturday November 19, 2022 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan.

John was born on May 13, 1943 in Junction City, the son of Lester C. and Jean Marie (Smith) Kaiser. He grew up in the Junction City area and graduated from Junction City High School with the class of 1961. After graduation John joined the U.S. Navy and went to Naval Photographical School in Pensacola, Florida.

He worked at Norfolk, Virginia, then was deployed to the USS Enterprise aircraft carrier, USS Observation Island at Cape Canaveral, Florida and was later transferred to Washington D.C. to the Naval Photographic Center. After his Honorable discharge from the Navy, John went to Fort Riley and worked for the Department of Defense as a photographer in the photo lab and then became the Film Service Officer in the TASC Office. After 30 years of service, he retired in 1993.

In retirement John worked for Briggs Auto, Jerrys Carpet World and the Westview Community Church. He enjoyed being part of the Gideons, the Yard Art Classic Car Club in Manhattan and a member of the Westview Community Church. He was able to help the church and many people while working at the church, which was important to him and brought him much joy.

On February 13, 1965 in Mims, Florida, John was united in marriage to Carlene Young. She survives at their home in Manhattan.

In addition to Carlene, John is survived by his sons: Raymond Kaiser (Tracie) of Olathe, Kansas and Scott Kaiser (Heather) of Liberty, Missouri; also, his grandsons: Brendan Kaiser and Kelley Kaiser; his sister Joan Johnston, of Augusta, Kansas; and his nephew Mark Johnston of Chapman, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Michael Johnston.

The family will greet friends during a visitation from 5:30 until 7:00p.m. Monday November 28, 2022 at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan.

Kenneth John Umscheid, age 62, a lifetime Manhattan resident, died November 17, 2022, at his residence.

He was born January 23, 1960, in Manhattan, the son of Cletus and Donna (Foster) Umscheid.

Kenny worked with his family at Umscheid Auto for many years. He then had worked at Midwest Concrete Materials and Shilling Construction.

He was a member of the Eagles Lodge and spent many hours working on his classic cars.

Survivors include his daughter Sadie Webb and her husband William of Great Bend, KS; his sister Dixie Curtis and her husband Shaun of Manhattan; and three grandchildren: Kaden, McKenna and Gage.

Andrew worked as a cook in several restaurants including Popeyes, Early Edition and Sonic.

He was a loving and caring person, was an amazing father and loved to spoil his son rotten. He was also a huge Spiderman fan.

Survivors include his wife Jozlynn Sue-Ray Cunningham; two children: Lorenzo Ray Powell and Teanna Marie Powell; his mother Jessica Joy Phillips and her husband Andrew; his father Carlton Vinsick and his wife Stacy; and five siblings: Dekoda Gray, Kayla Kraft, Emma Vinsick, MaKayla Vinsick and Elexa Vinsick.

Linda Lorraine Felber, 72, of Manhattan, died Friday, Nov. 18, at her home.

Born
 Feb. 11, 1950, to John and Vera Schirmer in Danbury, Ct., Linda moved 
to Manhattan in 1973 following her marriage on Sept. 29, 1973, to Bill 
Felber. She was a Manhattan resident for the remaining 49 years of her 
life.

Linda was a 1981 graduate of Kansas State 
University with a degree in humanities who enjoyed working as a 
babysitter for numerous local families.

Linda and Bill had one son, Frank Timothy, who was born on May 9, 1998.

For
 most of her adult life, Linda fought a brave personal battle with 
paranoid schizophrenia, a pernicious, debilitating disease of the brain 
that made it difficult for her to function in a group work setting. 
Despite that, those who knew Linda unanimously remember her desire to be
 helpful and friendly in all circumstances.

She was a

various church functions. She was also a proud member of the Kappa 
Omicron Nu national honor society.

Among her proudest 
moments were celebrating her son’s accomplishments, including achieving 
the Eagle Scout rank, being elected to the National Honor Society, 
earning his undergraduate degree in political science from Kansas State 
University, and earning his master’s degree from the University of 
Arizona in international security studies.

She and Bill celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary this past September.

 </figure>Linda Lorraine Felber, 72, of Manhattan, died Friday, Nov. 18, at her home.Born
 Feb. 11, 1950, to John and Vera Schirmer in Danbury, Ct., Linda moved 
to Manhattan in 1973 following her marriage on Sept. 29, 1973, to Bill 
Felber. She was a Manhattan resident for the remaining 49 years of her 
life.Linda was a 1981 graduate of Kansas State 
University with a degree in humanities who enjoyed working as a 
babysitter for numerous local families.Linda and Bill had one son, Frank Timothy, who was born on May 9, 1998.For
 most of her adult life, Linda fought a brave personal battle with 
paranoid schizophrenia, a pernicious, debilitating disease of the brain 
that made it difficult for her to function in a group work setting. 
Despite that, those who knew Linda unanimously remember her desire to be
 helpful and friendly in all circumstances.She was a 
member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church who enjoyed taking part in

include two sisters, Jacqueline Oleson of Greenwich, Ct., and Debra 
Oleson of White Plains, N.Y., as well as numerous nieces and nephews.A
 funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28, at St. 
Thomas More Church with Rev. Frank Coady as celebrant. Burial will 
follow in the Sunrise Cemetery.The family invites 
Linda’s friends to join them to share remembrances for one hour prior to
 the mass at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Thomas More. It is requested that 
memorial contributions be made in Linda’s name to Pawnee Mental Health
