Donna Lea (Forsberb/Lundberg) Finley, 67 died July 3, 2022 at Via Christi Village, Manhattan, KS. She was born on April 22, 1955 in Miami, Fl, the daughter of Richard and Hazel Lundberg. 

Donna was a homemaker and home schooled her two sons 1st grade through high school. After her sons were out of school she worked for RC Hobbies than worked 18 years as a customer service representative for Shelter Insurance and American Family Insurance where she retired early on SS1 disability. She graduated with a GED than attended Kansas State University for three years. Donna married Ralph Samuel Finley on June 26, 1976 at University Baptist Church, Manhattan, Kansas. Ralph survives of the home with their oldest son Christopher Allyn; son Joseph Edward of McPherson, KS and girlfriend and two granddaughters, Katelyn Marie and Rebecca Lea. Two sisters and one brother? Donna was preceded in death by her parents.

 Burial is to be at her cherished home in Dickinson County at a future time with a small ceremony.

Jolene Robson-Laing passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at Abilene Memorial Hospital at the age of 82 years. She was born November 8, 1939 in Abilene, the daughter of Otis and Doris Manion. Jolene was a 1957 graduate of Abilene High School. In 1961, she earned her nursing diploma from Stomont-Vail School of Nursing in Topeka, Kansas. On June 9, 1961, Jolene married fellow Abilene native, David J. Robson and the two of them moved to Pueblo, CO, where she launched her nursing career. After a couple of years, they returned to Abilene when David had opportunity to enter the family title business. Jolene spent the duration of her career at Abilene Memorial Hospital primarily as an emergency room nurse, in addition to spending several years as Director of nursing in the 1980s. She retired in 2006 after 45 years of nursing. After a brief time, Jolene once again returned to Abilene Memorial Hospital as a nurse for Memorial’s Rose Unit. Jolene’s life of service to the community was a true labor of love.

Jolene loved working in her home and garden where her creativity really shined! Blessed with the gift of hospitality, Jolene loved sharing her home with family, friends and those who just needed a place to stay. From spring until fall, flowers bloomed in abundance under her persistent care as she created a garden on par with any “Master Gardener”!

Jolene exemplified a servant’s heart whether she was helping to heal those in the ER, pouring love into her family, or creating beauty in her garden. She was in God’s restoration business, touching each life with compassion as she sought to show God’s love to all she encountered. Jolene was active in a variety of community organizations, particularly those of her faith such as Christian Women’s Club, and the Gideons International Auxiliary. Jolene attended Emmanuel Church from her childhood on, volunteering for many roles, perhaps most notably in caring for the lawn and gardens of the facility for many years.

Jolene is survived by her daughter Debra Price and husband, Chris of Manhattan, KS, together with her three children, Samantha, Jakob, and Abbegale Tech; her son Craig Robson and wife, Adrienna of Millbrae, CA, together with their two sons Ethan and Jimmy Robson; her son Guy Robson of Tulsa, OK; her daughter Jenn Martin and husband, Brent of Emporia, KS, together with their children Madilyn and Hayden Martin; and one great-grandchild, Elijah Tech the son of Samantha Tech; her brother Kent Manion and wife, June of Topeka, KS; her sister Trudy Furbeck and husband, Richard of Loveland, CO; and her brother Kirk Manion and wife, Carol of Branson West, MO; and eleven nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, David Robson and Harris Laing; and her parents Otis and Doris Manion.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate her extraordinary life at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 18, 2022 at Emmanuel Church with Pastor Gordon McClure officiating. Marian Amanda (Dietrich) Johnson, 94, earned her wings and independence and went home to our Lord on July 4, 2022. She was a two time breast cancer survivor. Cremation has taken place. Marian was born on February 28, 1928, in a house on Clark's Creek Road in rural Geary County, Kansas; the second daughter of Hugo William Ludwig Dietrich and Caroline Clara (Settgast) Dietrich. She grew up in surrounding communities of Junction City and Dwight and attended the rural schools. She talked about riding horses with her older sister, Alberta, herding cows, and doing chores. Marian was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Clark's Creek and then Immanuel Lutheran Church in Junction City. In 1946, while working in the sandwich shop (AAFES) on Fort Riley, Kansas, she met a young soldier who became the love of her life, Russell James Johnson. He said she made the best sandwich he had ever had. They married on February 9, 1947. Over the next few years they were stationed in New Mexico, Texas, and Germany before they decided to join civilian life and return to Junction City, Kansas. Marian continued to work with AAFES in various capacities and retired after 35 years as a Head Cashier in the Cashiers Office. She also did the bookkeeping for the various businesses she and Russell had...including the landscaping business, and rental properties. She was never one to be idle for long: a card game (quick to learn and beat you); 1,000 piece puzzles, canning tomatoes, salsa, pickles, and jellies; or helping others. She didn't just tell you how to do it, she was there to guide and show you if you needed help. Some puzzles she glued, framed and gave to others. One in particular was of crosses across America. She decided to take pictures of her two home churches and the Lutheran school with their crosses and add them to the top of the framed puzzle. She donated it to Immanuel Lutheran Church. Watching the birds from her living room window was entertaining. Beautiful red Cardinals, Blue Jays, finches, woodpeckers, and don't forget the crows. Hummingbirds were a favorite past time watching them fly to the feeders and then zoom away so quickly. Most of all, she enjoyed getting out on her zero-turn Grasshopper to mow her acreage. It was a time to get outdoors and she loved it. It was a time to just feel free and not have to think. She was still mowing just two weeks prior to her passing. Marian and Russell enjoyed many adventures, and traveled across the country, including Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, and Mexico. Sometimes for pleasure: square dancing, visiting family and friends and sometimes working: hauling boats, campers, RVs, picking up or delivering cars...it didn't matter, they were enjoying each other. They enjoyed 70 1/2 years together before Russell passed in July 2017. She missed him every day and longed for their reunion. For over thirty years, they had a fireworks stand. It grew from a small operation, to a converted school bus, to a large tent. In the early years of selling fireworks, they would make homemade ice cream for the family and close friends who came to watch fireworks shot off at the Sundown Salute at Milford Lake Dam. How fitting that she passed on the Fourth of July so she could watch from heaven with the love of her life. They raised three children together. Son, Curtis W. (Linda) Johnson, Junction City, Kansas; daughter, Cathy J. (Jay) Nuzum, Junction City, Kansas and son, Larry R. (Becki) Johnson, Manhattan, Kansas. Other survivors include six grandchildren: Ron (Amy)Johnson, Bryan (Tara) Johnson, Michael (Kendra) McGlothin, Jason (Katie) McGlothin, Laurence (Dawn) Johnson, and Lauren (Calvin) Froggette; great-grandchildren: Olivia, Ian, Ella, Dustin, Abby, Hayden, Eli, Madison, Tony, Alexandrya, and "little" Russell; great-great grandson: Phoenix; brother-in-law, Don Wolf, several nieces and nephews; step grandchildren: Brent Nelson and children: Finnegan, Lilly and Liam; Nicole (Clifford) Wang and children Ellery and Ansley; many other distant relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters: Alberta Sarge, Delane Wolf, Marlene Kelley; brothers-in law: Charles Sarge and Robert Kelley. The family will greet friends at the Immanuel Lutheran Church 5-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 13. A committal service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 14 at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery. Those who are attending the committal service are asked to meet at Immanuel Lutheran Church at 9:30 a.m. to caravan to the cemetery. Following committal, a Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Timothy McCall officiating. A luncheon will follow at the church. Chae Pok Blackburn, 69, of Junction City, KS, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2022 at her home with her husband at her side. Cremation will take place. No memorial service is planned. Chae was born April 15, 1953 in Chungwon-Kun, Chungpuk-Do, Korea the daughter of Kum Chon and Chae Pong (Yun) Chong. Chae worked many years at Ft. Riley in various capacities of contract food services. She married Edward Blackburn, Jr. October 2, 1979 in Seoul, Korea. Survivors include her husband Edward of Junction City, KS; one sister and brother-in-law and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Lorna M. Craft, age 83, of Blue Rapids, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at Blue Valley Senior Living in Blue Rapids.

Lorna was born on September, 19, 1938, on her family’s farm near Wheaton.&nbsp; She is the daughter of LeRoy F. and Minnie E. (Holder) Kenworthy.&nbsp; She graduated from Frankfort High School in 1956.&nbsp; On September 20, 1959, she married Harold E. Craft at the Methodist Church in Frankfort.&nbsp; He passed away in 2010.

Lorna had worked as a bus driver for the Valley Heights school district for over forty years.&nbsp; In addition to driving the bus, she also worked as a cook at the school and later as the Activities Director at Blue Valley Senior Living.

Lorna’s life revolved around two things, her family and Valley Heights.&nbsp; In addition to driving a school bus, she was a proud supporter of the kids whether it was sports, band or field trips.&nbsp; She also loved her sports, especially Valley Heights, K-State and the Kansas City Royals.

Survivors include her two children: Jenni (Pierce) Holliman of Waterville, Janet (Robert Clark) Fencil of Olathe, a brother Bob (Jane) Kenworthy of Frankfort, three grandchildren: Laney, Teri Jo and Robert and by seven great-grandchildren.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Preceding Lorna in death were her parents, husband, Harold, a grandson Andrew Fencil, son-in-law Brad Worthington and six siblings: Norma Burton, Julius Kenworthy, Ralph Kenworthy, Art Kenworthy, Junior Kenworthy and Howard Kenworthy.

Graveside services are at 10:00 am, Thursday, July 14, 2022, at Fairmont Cemetery with Pastor Brad Wicks officiating.&nbsp; Prerecorded music is to include “Orange Blossom Special”, “Teddy Bear” and the “Wabash Cannon Ball”.&nbsp; Honorary Bearers include:&nbsp; Terre Carter, Jim Osborne, Doug Kenworthy, Bob Kenworthy and Chad Kenworthy. Mary Sue (Spittles) Hottman was born November 17, 1943 in Junction City, Kansas the daughter of Fred and Pearl (Freeman) Spittles. Mary Sue graduated from St. Xavier High School in Junction City. She married Bobby Leister on December 2, 1961 and had four children, later divorcing. She then married Frankie Dean Hottman on November 9th, 1974. Together they had 2 sons. Mary Sue was a homemaker and also cooked at several restaurants including the Whitehouse Motel, Round Up Café, and was a head cook at the Kirby House Restaurant. She is survived by her loving husband Frankie of the home, other survivors include her children Scott Bradley Leister and his wife Sherry of Abilene, Dirk Edward Leister and his wife Alana of Wichita, Wendy Kay Surritte and her husband David of Abilene, Demas Matthew Hottman of Wichita, Damon Michael Hottman and his wife Jill of Kansas City, Kansas, stepdaughter Kimberly Hottman Ayers of Salina, mother in law Esther Hottman of Enterprise, eleven grandchildren, five step grandchildren, two great grandchildren and eleven step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter Melissa Ann Leister, her parents, her sister Norma Jean Baughman, brothers Paul Frederick Spittles, Robert George Spittles, Edward Spittles, and her father in law Jack Hottman, Mary Sue was a little spitfire with a great since of humor and was also one of the best cooks around. Mary Sue (Spittles) Hottman was born November 17, 1943 in Junction City, Kansas the daughter of Fred and Pearl (Freeman) Spittles. Mary Sue graduated from St. Xavier High School in Junction City. She married Bobby Leister on December 2, 1961 and had four children, later divorcing. She then married Frankie Dean Hottman on November 9th, 1974. Together they had 2 sons. Mary Sue was a homemaker and also cooked at several restaurants including the Whitehouse Motel, Round Up Café, and was a head cook at the Kirby House Restaurant. She is survived by her loving husband Frankie of the home, other survivors include her children Scott Bradley Leister and his wife Sherry of Abilene, Dirk Edward Leister and his wife Alana of Wichita, Wendy Kay Surritte and her husband David of Abilene, Demas Matthew Hottman of Wichita, Damon Michael Hottman and his wife Jill of Kansas City, Kansas, stepdaughter Kimberly Hottman Ayers of Salina, mother in law Esther Hottman of Enterprise, eleven grandchildren, five step grandchildren, two great grandchildren and eleven step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter Melissa Ann Leister, her parents, her sister Norma Jean Baughman, brothers Paul Frederick Spittles, Robert George Spittles, Edward Spittles, and her father in law Jack Hottman, Mary Sue was a little spitfire with a great since of humor and was also one of the best cooks around. Eddie S. Allen, age 70, of Riley, passed away July 3, 2022 at Good Shepherd Hospice House, Manhattan. Born October 18, 1951 in Manhattan, Kansas, the son of Edward S. and Thelma Allen. Growing up, Eddie attended schools in Manhattan, Zeandale, Wamego and Riley. He attended Riley County High School and was a lifetime resident of Riley County. In 1970 Eddie married Dori Alstatt and they had a son, Todd. They were divorced. Eddie met his life partner, Wanda Haynie, in 1972. She survives. Eddie and Wanda were married 21 years but were together for 50. They spent 31 years living their dream in the country with plenty of room for old cars, motorcycles, Labrador retrievers, cats, two goats, a horse and wildlife, some welcome and some not so much. Eddie was proud to serve from 1970-1976 in the Kansas Army National Guard 69th Engineering Headquarters Company. Eddie loved having his son and grandsons close by. Gathering for family celebrations gave him much joy and being able to attend their sports and school activities. When Todd was growing up, Eddie knew when he needed to be “Dad” but he knew how to have fun, too, as you will learn from Todd’s stories. As adults, they were the best of friends. Eddie’s passion was old cars from a very early age. Buying projects, restoring and sometimes selling them to buy the next project. He often had two or three projects going at one time. He would look at a vehicle in a field or junkyard and could envision the potential of a finished car. His favorite was the 1955 Chevy 210 but he thoroughly enjoyed cars he owned from the 1930s to the muscle cars of the 1960s and 70s. He was a Chevy man but appreciated anyone who was a car enthusiast, even if it was a Ford! You can’t seem to love old cars and not feel the same way about motorcycles. Eddie had several Honda Gold Wings from the mid 1970s through the 1990s. His ultimate dream was owning a Harley. In 2003, he bought a 2003 Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail Anniversary edition. He customized it to his taste and rode more than 70,000 miles, including a couple trips to Sturgis. Eddie drove the 1937 Coupe west to California on Route 66, and east to Louisville, Kentucky. Over the years, many of his other cars were driven as far north as Minnesota and south to Texas going to car shows. He also drove up Pike’s Peak a few times with his Honda Gold Wings and the 1956 4-door sedan. Eddie was a member of Flint Hills Harley Owners Group for several years, serving one year as Safety Officer. He was a member of National Street Rod Association. Eddie performed safety inspections for other members’ street rods for several years. Vacations were usually spent traveling every year to various area, regional and national car shows. Drag racing was another one of Eddie’s favorite pastimes. He had a blast participating in and being a spectator, supporting his friends at race tracks in Manhattan and surrounding areas. A huge Nascar and original Dale Earnhardt fan, mostly on TV. He was able to attend races in Texas and Kansas. Eddie was employed many places in his life, starting with working and harvesting at area farms in the summers during high school. Followed by Bird Music Vending Company, Jerry’s 66, the City of Manhattan street department, Westloop Auto Parts, Mike’s Wrecker and Elkins car dealership. Eddie spent 31 years in the GM parts department at Briggs Motor Company. He retired March 2018. After deciding retirement wasn’t for him, he returned to Briggs in November 2018 as a parts delivery driver. He drove from Manhattan to Topeka to Lawrence twice a day. He loved the driving but retired again in February 2021 when his health became a priority. The number of neighborhoods, schools and workplaces in his life allowed him to meet and make many longtime friendships. Eddie had a kind and generous heart, preferring to be the giver rather than the receiver. Hanging out with his friends at car shows, in his shop, or the 3rd Street car wash in his younger days, was a big deal and had been for most of his life. There was always a lot of swapping stories, sharing advice, helping work on the cars, and lots of laughter. Due to his health, the last car show he was able to attend was Randolph’s Fourth of July 2021. He was determined to get his latest project running, a 1955 Chevy 210, to take to this year’s celebration. When Eddie, physically, was unable to continue working on his car, his nephew, Jeff, and many of Eddie’s friends (under Eddie’s supervision, of course), stepped up and worked hard over the last few months to make it happen. All that was left for him to do was turn the key. Eddie would want all of his friends and family to celebrate his life, share their stories and the love he had for all of us, and us for him. Eddie considered everyone in his life his family. Marion Wagner passed away peacefully on July 5, 2022, in the Sunflower Memory Center at the Colmery-O’Neil Veterans Medical Center, Topeka, Kansas. Marion Eugene Wagner was born July 31, 1934, near Vienna in Maries County, Missouri, to Dora Ethel Honse and Alfred Casper Wagner. He grew up in Missouri and Illinois and after attending Perry, Illinois High School he entered the United States Army in 1953. He served at Fort Riley, Kansas, and Aschaffeburg Installation, Frankfurt, Germany until his honorable discharge in 1956 at which time he was a member of the United States Army Reserve until 1961. While stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas he met and married Donna Jean Wagor in 1955 and they had four daughters, Sheryl, Sondra, Teresa, and Laura. Marion married Marilyn Yeoman in Nebraska in 1969 and they had two sons, Mark and Stephen. As a young man, he enjoyed fishing, roller skating, and swing dancing. In the world of employment in Kansas, Nebraska, and Arizona he was flexible and diversified and held jobs as a heavy equipment operator in the construction field, automobile salesman favoring the Ford brand, manufactured housing sales, real estate developer, modular home manufacturing factory owner, over the road truck driver certified for both tanker and tractor rigs (Central Transportation Co., Norfolk, NE) and real estate salesman. After retiring he drove a bus for Flint Hills ATA and lived in Manhattan, Kansas until May of 2021 when he moved to Topeka, Kansas. Marion was a member of the NE Nebraska Shrine Club, the BPOE, and was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 16 in Norfolk, Nebraska. Marion was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother Elgin, brother Wade, twin sister Mary Ethel McClintock, son-in-law, Thomas Cuddy, granddaughter Kacie Rae Skidmore, and grandson Allan Bechtel. He is survived by his children Sheryl (Larry Johnson), Prescott Valley, Arizona; Sondra Cuddy, Gilbert, Arizona; Teresa (Tom Bechtel), Ponca City, Oklahoma; Laura Skidmore, Manhattan, Kansas; Mark Wagner, Columbus, Nebraska; Stephen (Angela) Wagner, Randolph, Nebraska, AND seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren Thomas John (TJ) Cuddy, Laela and Emma; Whitney Cuddy and fiancé Philip Pokorny, Eleanor, Lake and Nash; Charles Colton Skidmore; Erin Bechtel White (Nick); Hanna Wagner; Rachel Wagner; Elizabeth Wagner. Terri Sue Conatser, 62, of St. George, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday (July 6, 2022) at her home in St. George.

Born October 28, 1959 in Franklin, Kansas, Terri was the daughter of Walter and Betty Maureen (Beasley) Ochs.&nbsp; Terri had been married to Charlie Barker.&nbsp; She married David Conatser on January 1, 2011 in Garden City, Kansas.&nbsp; He survives.

Terri was a member of Immanuel Faith Community Church Wells Creek.&nbsp; She was an accomplished quilter and enjoyed watching wrestling on TV.&nbsp; Terri's greatest joy came in the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Terri was employed as a secretary at Lee Construction Co. in Garden City, Kansas. She previously worked with the American Red Cross and SRS in Garden City.&nbsp; She and David moved to St. George in May, 2020.

Survivors include her husband, David; two daughters, Victoria Niedfeldt (Tyrel) of Wamego, KS and Elizabeth Wills of St. George, KS; six grandchildren, Nautami Niedfeldt, Zyrain Frizzell, Brayen Niedfeldt, Brandon Jr. Wills, Braxton Wills and William Mitchell; a brother, Doug Ochs (Francee) of Minneapolis, KS; and one niece and one nephew.

Terri was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday (July 12, 2022) at 10:30 a.m.&nbsp; at Immanuel Faith Community Church Wells Creek with Pastor Tim Pearson officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow at the Wells Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will be this evening (July 11, 2022)g from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.&nbsp; at Campanella &amp; Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego.

Ersa L. Keenan, 81, passed away July 7, 2022, at Brookdale East in 
Wichita. She was born on April 5, 1941, in Great Bend to Frank &amp; 
Ersa (Cross) Koelsch. She married Johnny R. Keenan on May 23, 1966, in 
Great Bend.&nbsp; He died March 5, 2015.

A lifetime Great Bend resident, Ersa was an insurance clerk for 
several doctors in town including, Dr. Cavanaugh, Dr. Holt and Dr. 
Schuetz. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick 
Catholic Church and the Altar Society. Ersa was an avid golfer and 
baseball fan, she also enjoyed watching her Kansas City Chiefs.

Survivors include, a son, Mike S. Keenan of Manhattan; two brothers, 
Frank Koelsch of Ellinwood and James Koelsch and wife Nora of 
Clearwater. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, 
Johnny R. Keenan; and an infant brother, Vaughn Koelsch.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m., Sunday, July 10, 2022
 at Bryant Funeral Home, with Altar Society rosary at 4:00 p.m., and a

Marlin "Pete" “Bill” Verlyn Peterson, 80 of Clay Center, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at the Clay County Medical Center surrounded by family.&nbsp; He was born on July 27, 1941, the son of Pete and Edith (Graves) Peterson in Clay Center.&nbsp;

Pete Grew up in the Clifton area and attended the Pleasant Peak School.&nbsp; He graduated from Clifton High School in 1959.&nbsp; He joined the U.S. Army and served for 3 years and was a proud veteran.&nbsp; Pete was a loyal and dedicated employee at Hutchinson/Mayrath for over 42 years as the shipping clerk.

He married Brenda Trahan at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Miltonvale, Kansas on September 16, 1972.&nbsp; To this union a daughter was born, Tamara Kay.&nbsp; They made their home in or near Clay Center fro almost 50 years.

Pete had a prestigious collection of Native American artifacts, all were personal finds in Clay and Washington Counties.&nbsp; He won several awards from the Kansas Archeological Society over the years for his personal find collections.

Pete was also a devoted and serious KU basketball fan and even got to meet with Coach Bill Self.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Delmer, LaVerne and Glemo and a sister, Marcine Johnson.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Peterson; daughter, Tamara Wallace; granddaughters, Jaycee Aikman, Addie Wallace and Molly Wallace; great grandson, Hunter Lee Aikman and many nieces and nephews

Memorial services will be held on Friday, July 22, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Clay Center, Kansas.

Catherine Irene Reed Patton went to her heavenly home on July 5, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Catherine was born to Victor and Bessie (Hindman) Reed on July, 19, 1927 and she was one of six siblings. On August 2, 1947 Catherine was united in marriage to John E. Patton at the Methodist Church of Salina, KS. He preceded her in death on February 20, 2007.

Catherine graduated from Solomon High School in 1945 and also attended Brown Mackie. She worked for the Reflector Chronicle for many years. She volunteered at the Historical Society, was a member of Eastern Star and First Baptist Church. Catherine loved to cook, read and spend time with family and friends. She loved to dance and sing along to her favorite hymns, country western songs and Elvis.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Victor Reed and Robert Reed, and her sister Velma Erker. She is survived by daughters, Vicki (Bob) Wright of Abilene, KS, and Joyce (Ron) Montgomery of Rockdale, TX; one brother, Ed Reed of Melbourne, FL and one sister, Velda Isaacson of Salina, KS; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Peggy M. Keller

Darlyene Mardell Westberg aged eighty-six of Junction City, Kansas, was born in Huxley, Texas on November 5, 1935, and passed from this life on July 2, 2022. She was one of eight children born to Avery P., and Jewel Odessa Oswalt. At the age of seventeen, Darlyene graduated from high school in May of 1953 and moved to Houston, Texas where she went to work and attended church at the Gulfgate Pentecostal Church pastored by Brother Fred Olson. She met and later married Leonard Eugene Westberg in December 1955. Leonard and Darlyene engaged in working for the local church under Pastor Olson. She attended Texas Bible College for one and a half years until her husband received a calling to pastor in Church Point, Louisiana in 1969. In 1971 she moved to Junction City, Kansas with her husband as he became the new pastor of Faith Tabernacle. From June 1971 until 2004 she lived in Junction City. Darlyene resided in Wichita serving under Pastor Nathan Dudley and later under Pastor Robert Davis of Wheelersburg, Ohio before returning to Junction City in 2013 again serving under Nathan Dudley. Known as ‘Sister Westberg,’ she taught Sunday School in the local church, as well as at numerous youth camps. Due to her genuine and practical daily living applications of biblical teachings, she was a highly sought-after speaker for ministerial and Ladies Retreats around the country. Darlyene worked beside her husband in both churches where he served as pastor. She loved people as well as working in God’s vineyard. Until the end, her heart was in working for the Kingdom of God and labored to encourage others. In December 1972, God richly blessed her life with their darling, precious daughter Marjorie who was born on the 14th. This angel came into their lives and blessed them with an abundance of sunshine and joy. Marjorie Darlyene resides in the home. Brother Westberg went to his retirement in Heaven on September 3, 2001. Sister Westberg leaves to cherish her memory: a brother David Oswalt and his family; Brother-in-law Francis Westberg and family, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. She was also affectionately known as “mom” or “grandma” by her sons, daughters, and friends in the Lord. Preceding Darlyene in death were two sisters: Hortense Fleming, and Lurlean Miller, as well as brothers Avery Oswalt, Joe Oswalt, Gurvis Oswalt, and two infant siblings. Darlyene Mardell Westberg aged eighty-six of Junction City, Kansas, was born in Huxley, Texas on November 5, 1935, and passed from this life on July 2, 2022. She was one of eight children born to Avery P., and Jewel Odessa Oswalt. At the age of seventeen, Darlyene graduated from high school in May of 1953 and moved to Houston, Texas where she went to work and attended church at the Gulfgate Pentecostal Church pastored by Brother Fred Olson. She met and later married Leonard Eugene Westberg in December 1955. Leonard and Darlyene engaged in working for the local church under Pastor Olson. She attended Texas Bible College for one and a half years until her husband received a calling to pastor in Church Point, Louisiana in 1969. In 1971 she moved to Junction City, Kansas with her husband as he became the new pastor of Faith Tabernacle. From June 1971 until 2004 she lived in Junction City. Darlyene resided in Wichita serving under Pastor Nathan Dudley and later under Pastor Robert Davis of Wheelersburg, Ohio before returning to Junction City in 2013 again serving under Nathan Dudley. Known as ‘Sister Westberg,’ she taught Sunday School in the local church, as well as at numerous youth camps. Due to her genuine and practical daily living applications of biblical teachings, she was a highly sought-after speaker for ministerial and Ladies Retreats around the country. Darlyene worked beside her husband in both churches where he served as pastor. She loved people as well as working in God’s vineyard. Until the end, her heart was in working for the Kingdom of God and labored to encourage others. In December 1972, God richly blessed her life with their darling, precious daughter Marjorie who was born on the 14th. This angel came into their lives and blessed them with an abundance of sunshine and joy. Marjorie Darlyene resides in the home. Brother Westberg went to his retirement in Heaven on September 3, 2001. Sister Westberg leaves to cherish her memory: a brother David Oswalt and his family; Brother-in-law Francis Westberg and family, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. She was also affectionately known as “mom” or “grandma” by her sons, daughters, and friends in the Lord. Preceding Darlyene in death were two sisters: Hortense Fleming, and Lurlean Miller, as well as brothers Avery Oswalt, Joe Oswalt, Gurvis Oswalt, and two infant siblings. Lorie Ann (Woodworth) Massey, age 45 of Manhattan, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2022 at her residence.

She was born on August 17, 1976 in Manhattan, the daughter of Danny Ray and Lorine Kay (Allen) Woodworth.&nbsp; She graduated from Blue Valley Randolph High School in 1994.

On July 12, 2016 she married Allen Massey, Jr.&nbsp; He survives of the home.

Following high school, Lorie graduated from Crum’s Beauty School and was a beautician and cosmetologist, working at various Salon’s during her career.&nbsp; She loved spending time with her family and friends, cooking and watching old movies.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her father, Danny Woodworth of Manhattan; her daughter Eva Woodworth of Manhattan; her brother, Brian Woodworth and wife Heather of Riley and her nieces, Jaiden and Miah Woodworth and Kyla Woodworth Lockyer.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lorine Woodworth and an infant sister, Laura Michelle Woodworth.

A registry book will be available to sign at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 and Wednesday, July 6, 2022 from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Donna was born south of Enterprise on August 15th, 1933. She lived there until she was four years old. They then moved south of Chapman where she attended school until 4th grade.The family then moved to the Buckeye Community. She attended the Jeffcoat and Oak Creek one room country schoolhouse until 8th grade. Donna then rode the bus to Chapman High School. During this time she met the love of her life, Leo Anderson. Donna Graduated in 1951. Donna accepted the Lord in High School while attending church camp. She was a member of the Wesleyan Church where she taught Sunday school and Junior Church. After graduating, she was employed at the United Utilities Telephone Company in Abilene for 10years. In 1953, Donna married Leo Anderson on August 23rd and they made their home in Abilene. In 1963, she opened up her home for childcare and was one of the first sitters to be licensed in Abilene. Donna cared for over 80 children including second generations and enjoyed each one as well as her own. The Children spent their days playing in the backyard, going for walks, reading, painting, and drawing pictures, going on short field trips and playing games. She taught them that they all were special and that God created and loved each one of them. In 2000, she received an award for 35 years in childcare and continued sitting until 2014 at the age of 80 years old. In her free time she enjoyed being with her family, gardening, being with friends, reading and writing poetry, and listening to spiritual music. Donna Lee Anderson

Bonnie Mel (Hubbell) Devore, 73, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on June 28, 2022. She was born on the 4th of July, 1948 in Medford, OR to Melvin and Margaret (Romick) Hubbell. After a few years in Los Angeles, CA and Houston, TX the family settled in Topeka, KS when Bonnie was ten years old. She attended Seaman High School in Topeka, then Kansas State University in Manhattan. She graduated K-State with a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics Education and a master’s degree in Financial Counseling. She and her future husband, John, found each other during the final semester of their undergraduate years. They were engaged after three months, married after nine, and got to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary December 19, 2020. Bonnie was hired by USD 383 to teach Home Economics classes at Manhattan High School starting in the fall of 1970. This job led John to seek local employment and extended their sojourn in Manhattan for an additional 52 years. She quit this teaching job in 1979 to stay home with their two young sons. In 1985, a year after the birth of their daughter, she became certified as a computer programmer and started working half time at the University Computing Center. In 1988 she returned to full-time teaching, this time at the Manhattan Middle School. After three years of teaching Home Economics, she created the middle school’s first computer education program. For the next 16 years she was “the” middle school computer teacher in Manhattan, even traveling between the two new middle schools that were built in 1996 to ensure that both schools offered computer courses to students. Bonnie loved teaching because she was very much a people person. She loved the students, with her teaching philosophy being “teach the student first and the subject second.” She taught approximately 10,000 students over her three-decade career and kept in touch with many of them afterwards, including those that she had had in her first few years. After retiring, Bonnie enjoyed traveling with her husband, especially in groups. The travel included overseas river cruises, an ocean cruise, a trip to Scotland to explore her ancestral roots, and Friends of McCain trips to New York and Los Angeles. She served on several organization boards including the ATA Bus board of directors during its expansion years in Manhattan, the Friends of McCain board, and the Sunset Zoo Trust board. Bonnie was an avid believer and member of First Christian Church. She was also in organizations such as PEO and Daughters of the American Revolution. She belonged to card groups, dinner groups, and a mahjong group. Throughout her life she was kind and sociable and truly loved being around people. Bonnie had many hobbies which included flower gardening, playing cards, playing mahjong, flying, attending McCain performances and K-State athletic events, and interior design. She designed the house she and John built in 1975, which they lived in together for 47 years until her death. She had a private pilot’s license and especially enjoyed takeoffs and landings – so much so that her instructor had to push her to do the required cross-country flights. Eventually she did most of the flying on a trip, with her husband and infant son, to California City. The trip included a landing on the mesa runway at Sedona, AZ with a significant leg of the route flying over the Grand Canyon. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Karen (Hubbell) Grose, and a stillborn granddaughter Sage Devore. She is survived by her husband John, her sons Bryan and Kevin, her daughter Casey, daughter-in-law Lisa (Clarke) Devore, grandson Coen Devore, brother Richard Hubbell, brother-in-law David Grose, her sister’s sons Donovan and Nolan Grose and Nolan’s wife Sandra, her sister’s daughter Cory Grose and husband Reuben Dohrendorf and their daughter Hayden and son Gavin (Bonnie was their surrogate grandmother), sister-in-law Jewelda (Devore) Scofield and husband Steve, nephew Greg Scofield and wife Dana and sons Max and Cooper, niece Mindy (Scofield) Ott and husband Dan and sons Peyton, Prosper, and Harvest. A family visitation will be held at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home Wednesday July 6 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday July 7 at First United Methodist Church in Manhattan.&nbsp; A graveside service will follow at Sunrise Cemetery. Bonnie Mel (Hubbell) Devore

Navarral Ann Bitzer of Manhattan, KS, died Wednesday June 29, 2022, at 5:50 a.m. at the Good Shepherd Homecare and Hospice House in Manhattan. She was 92 years young! She was born September 15, 1929 to Merlin Luther Johnson and Bessie Virginia (Hagin) Johnson in Hutchinson, KS. Soon after, her family moved to Oklahoma where her maternal grandfather lived on land he homesteaded near Stillwater in 1990. After a few years, the family moved back to Pratt, KS and then to Wichita. She met her husband Eugene in Wichita, and they were married in Great Bend, KS. After her husband’s discharge from the military, he worked for the Federal Civil Service, Department of the Army, transferring from Great Bend to Garden City in 1968. Ann and Eugene enjoyed being foster parents for several years due to their love of children. During her years in Garden City, Ann worked for the U.S. Post Office, Elementary schools of USD 457, and retired from Edward Jones in 1999. Ann loved to travel, especially cruising the Caribbean, the Panama Canal, Alaska, and along the coast to Canada. She said the European trip visiting 7 countries and her trip to Ireland left her with a lifetime of memories. Ann was a member of the Manhattan First Baptist Church/ABW, Riley County F.C.E., Senior Center, RSVP, AARP, Harmony Rebekah’s #689, Eagles POPPS club, and DAV Life Member. She moved to Manhattan in 2012 from Garden City, joining the Manhattan Welcome Club soon after. She was their President for 3 years and was known for closing each meeting with a joke. If you knew Ann, you would know how much she loved to laugh, especially at herself. She attended their Coffee and Breakfast groups and said the most fun she had was playing Bunko with her friends. She had been a volunteer with Hospice since 1999 in Garden City and Manhattan. She joined the Garden City Fraternal Order of Eagles in 1976, was elected as State Secretary for 12 years, and became the State President in 1995. The Ann Bitzer Secretary of the Year Award is presented annually during the State Convention in honor of her years in that position. She received many honors through the years, such as the Local and State Auxiliary, State Aerie Mother/Grandmother/Great Grandmother as a Kansas Special Sunflower, and inducted into the State Hall of Fame in 2009. Ann was presented with the Alta Browning Smith Award in 2013. Only one sister is chosen annually by the FOE Grand Madam President out of the many letters she receives from State Auxiliaries within the United States. Ann started the Past Presidents Club at Auxiliary #3124 in Garden City, KS; was Kansas State Ritual Chairman for 8 years, MINK Ritual Chairman, State Membership Chairman, Conductor for 8 years on a Kansas State Ritual Team, winning first place more than once. She was chosen Heart Queen of her local auxiliary and District #7 and was also named Kansas State Heart Queen. Grand Madam President Lorraine Grimes appointed Ann as Assistant Grand Madam Conductor during the International Grand Convention in Las Vegas. Grand Madam President Carleen Corum named her as the South-Central Regional President in 2001. Ann was honored with being named Mother for the South-Central Region two separate times. She was also a dual member of the Eagles in Manhattan. She served as Secretary/Treasurer of NARFE for several years, she also served on the Finney Country Committee on Aging Board as President in Garden City for 5 years and enjoyed her time as the Queen Bee of a Red Hat Club. She was a Pen Pal with second grade children at the Victor Ornalas School, volunteered for CASA, Family Crisis, was a receptionist at the Senior Center, and called Bingo at a local nursing home. In 1991 Ann was presented with the US President George Bush award, the Thousand Points of Light, the Woodsman Award, and the Hospice Volunteer of the Year award. As the Hospice Coordinator so aptly put it, “Ann is the busiest retired person I’ve ever met.” Ann served as the Family Coordinator for the 467th Firefighting Unit at the local Army Reserves when the men were deployed to Saudi Arabia. Ann and her husband were honored by being named Grand Marshals in the parade given by Garden City upon their return home from Desert Storm. Ann enjoyed all types of crafts, found quillery fascinating, loved to write stories and poems, and collected angels and Santa Claus figurines. But felt her greatest gift in life was her husband, daughters, and family. Ann is survived by two daughters: April Eugenia Garetson of Wamego (John); and Malinda Ann Rose, Groveland, CA; 5 grandsons: John Armstrong, Justin Hudson, Jack Armstrong, Danny Conn, and John Derek Garetson; 3 granddaughters: Misty Segura-Bowers, Brandy Conn, and Ashley Garetson; 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandsons. Ann was preceded in death by her husband in 2007, daughter Sherrina Fawn Bitzer in 2014, her parents, stepfather Roy Cummings, brother Merlin Junior Johnson, who died during WWII, an infant grandson, and great-granddaughter Camryn Leena Rose. The family will greet friends during a visitation from 5:30 until 7:00p.m. Friday July 15, 2022 at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday July 16, 2022 at the First Baptist Church, 2121 Bluehills Road in Manhattan. Burial is to be at a later date in Pratt. Navarral Ann Bitzer of Manhattan, KS, died Wednesday June 29, 2022, at 5:50 a.m. at the Good Shepherd Homecare and Hospice House in Manhattan. She was 92 years young! She was born September 15, 1929 to Merlin Luther Johnson and Bessie Virginia (Hagin) Johnson in Hutchinson, KS. Soon after, her family moved to Oklahoma where her maternal grandfather lived on land he homesteaded near Stillwater in 1990. After a few years, the family moved back to Pratt, KS and then to Wichita. She met her husband Eugene in Wichita, and they were married in Great Bend, KS. After her husband’s discharge from the military, he worked for the Federal Civil Service, Department of the Army, transferring from Great Bend to Garden City in 1968. Ann and Eugene enjoyed being foster parents for several years due to their love of children. During her years in Garden City, Ann worked for the U.S. Post Office, Elementary schools of USD 457, and retired from Edward Jones in 1999. Ann loved to travel, especially cruising the Caribbean, the Panama Canal, Alaska, and along the coast to Canada. She said the European trip visiting 7 countries and her trip to Ireland left her with a lifetime of memories. Ann was a member of the Manhattan First Baptist Church/ABW, Riley County F.C.E., Senior Center, RSVP, AARP, Harmony Rebekah’s #689, Eagles POPPS club, and DAV Life Member. She moved to Manhattan in 2012 from Garden City, joining the Manhattan Welcome Club soon after. She was their President for 3 years and was known for closing each meeting with a joke. If you knew Ann, you would know how much she loved to laugh, especially at herself. She attended their Coffee and Breakfast groups and said the most fun she had was playing Bunko with her friends. She had been a volunteer with Hospice since 1999 in Garden City and Manhattan. She joined the Garden City Fraternal Order of Eagles in 1976, was elected as State Secretary for 12 years, and became the State President in 1995. The Ann Bitzer Secretary of the Year Award is presented annually during the State Convention in honor of her years in that position. She received many honors through the years, such as the Local and State Auxiliary, State Aerie Mother/Grandmother/Great Grandmother as a Kansas Special Sunflower, and inducted into the State Hall of Fame in 2009. Ann was presented with the Alta Browning Smith Award in 2013.
