Jesse J. McNair, 60, of Junction City, KS, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at his residence. Funeral services and visitation are pending at Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at Highland Cemetery. He was born on May 25, 1962. Jesse was an avid reader which he used to help his community. He was also a talented auto mechanic as well as a gifted gardener. He started Mobile Car Care around 1994 helping the residents of Junction City with their vehicle needs. SSG (RET) Robert Neal Wilson, 90, of Manhattan, KS passed away Sunday, August 14, 2022, at Stoney Brook Retirement Center. Robert was born January 21, 1932 in Abilene, KS to Neal Wilson and Alice R. Smith. Robert served in the United States Army as an Executive Chef until the end of his tenure in February of 1971. After his career in the Army he went on to work at Irwin Army Community Hospital located in Fort Riley, KS for fifteen years. Robert will truly be missed by many.

A graveside service will take place Friday, September 23, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with full military honors. Marcine Fern Hohman, age 82 of Green, passed away Friday, August 19, 2022 at the Leonardville Nursing Home.

She was born January 6, 1940 on a farmstead near Oak Hill, the daughter of Gaylord and Josephine (Palmateer) Stienbruck.

On August 7, 1960, she married Don Ray Hohman.&nbsp; He survives of the home.

Marcine worked at the Green United State Post Office and helped on the farm.&nbsp; She attended the Green United Methodist Church and enjoyed raising chickens, cooking, crocheting and knitting.

In addition to her husband Don, she is survived by two sons, Chris Hohman and wife Martye of Glasco and Gaylen Hohman of Green, and one brother, Fred Stienbruck of Longford.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Ted Stienbruck and one sister, Gaylene Frigon.

Cremation is planned with inurnment in the Rose Meron Cemetery at a later date.

Rex Leroy Goff of Keats, Kansas passed away Thursday, August 18, 2022 and is now resting in peace.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He was born October 3, 1953 to Dean and Wanda Goff.&nbsp; Rex was proud to be a part of a large family and enjoyed living life on the farm.&nbsp; He was a member of the Keats United Methodist Church.

Rex is remembered as one of the bravest.&nbsp; Experiencing health issues as a young adult he faced the challenge of kidney failure with courage and determination.&nbsp; Through years of dialysis, outliving a kidney transplant and continued dialysis his daily obstacles were many, but he faced them with strength and dignity, never showing frustration or discouragement. 

Rex was especially close to his God children, Jandee and Cody and took delight in everything about them. His joy came from supporting many nieces and nephews in their sports and activities.&nbsp; He believed in community and attended many local gatherings. Rex was an employee of Kansas State University.&nbsp; His first appointment was in the Division of Continuing Education in 1988.&nbsp; In 1991 he began working in the Office of the Vice President for Research, Pre-Award Services.&nbsp; Recently, Rex was working as a Senior Grants and Contracts Administrator under the supervision of Paul Lowe and Lisa Duer, where a special friendship developed through mutual respect and dedication.&nbsp; His exemplary conduct and strong work ethic were often performed over and above the boundaries of his responsibilities.

Rex is survived by his God children, Jandee Rae (Bradley) Pyle of Clay Center and Cody Alan Goff of Manhattan, his mother, Wanda (Hollowell) Goff of Manhattan,&nbsp;brothers and sisters:&nbsp; Don (Marcia) Goff of Keats, Larry (Kathy) Goff of Manchester, Garry (Chris) Goff of Manhattan, Janet (Jeff) Newell of Manhattan, Nancy (Brad) Carter of Shawnee, Wayne (Jane) Goff of Manhattan, Jane Keister of Manhattan and Clyde (Arlene) Goff of Manhattan.

Gage Mikel McGuire, 18, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2022 in Abilene, Kansas. He was born September 22, 2003 to Zachariah McGuire and Duana (Thomas)Tatro in Salina, Kansas. Gage has lived in Superior, Nebraska; Concordia, Hugoton, Liberal and Abilene, Kansas. While he was growing up, he enjoyed fishing, wrestling, basketball and football. He was also involved with Boy Scouts. Gage had a passion for computer technology and a desire to become a computer engineer. He upgraded computers to make them better and even built them from scratch. Gage attended Abilene High School and participated in debate, drama and choir. He was a proud graduate of Abilene High School on May 22, 2022. He was a hard worker with an enduring sense of responsibility and, he loved his dog, Bailey, very much.

Gage was preceded in death by his great-grandparents: John David and Mary McGuire, Phyllis and Ronald Collette, Frank Junior Thomas, James Walter Carpenter and step-grandfather Steve Chartier.

After graduating she went on in life with a strong work ethic &amp; continued this for as long as she was able to, in everything that she did.

 Jacqueline is survived by her daughter, Jodi Smith, one granddaughter, Emily Smith-Degroot, two sisters, Sharon Thelander and Jolene Decker, one niece, Jessica Palmer, two nephews, Dean and Raymond Holzhuter and a special bond and very close friendship with her cousin and caregiver, Marshia Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Gary Taylor, Mick Taylor and Ruth Holzhuter. Jacqueline’s wishes were to be cremated.

With her children in attendance, Faith Russell Roach, 96, of Meadowlark Hills, Manhattan, Kansas died of natural causes on Friday, August 12, 2022. Faith was born in rural Neosho County on June 6, 1926 to Viva and Ray Russell. Her older brother, Raymond, was away at school during her childhood, so she spent much of her time in the company of the farm’s chickens, cows and produce. Her stories of collecting eggs, bringing the cows home at night, turning many rows of water melons and taking produce to market reveled her early desire for city life. Faith was 16 when her father died - she and her mother moved to Chanute and Faith attended Neosho Community College. She then moved to Manhattan to complete her BS in Dietetics at KSU (1947). She completed her dietetics internship at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio (1948). While she attended KSU, she lived at a rooming house in the home of Georgia and Gavin Roach where she met their son, Tom, after the war. She and Tom married on August 20, 1949 in Chanute, Kansas and moved to Hays where their daughter, Rebecca, was born. She worked as a dietitian at Hadley Memorial Hospital. In 1954 they moved to Newton, Kansas where Richard was born and Faith worked at a Methodist Youthville. In 1959 they came to Manhattan where Faith and Tom remained throughout their lives. Faith began graduate work at KSU and received her MS (1966) and PhD (1973) degrees. She taught, did research and directed the undergraduate dietetics program in the Restaurant, Hotel, Institution Management and Dietetics Department (now Food, Nutrition, Dietetics and Health) in the College of Human Ecology (now Health and Human Sciences). She made many deep and lasting friendships with the undergraduate and graduate students she advised, with the faculty and staff at KSU and with dietetics professionals throughout the world. Faith was active in the American Dietetic Association (now the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics) at the local, state and national levels. With her children in attendance, Faith Russell Roach, 96, of Meadowlark Hills, Manhattan, Kansas died of natural causes on Friday, August 12, 2022. Faith was born in rural Neosho County on June 6, 1926 to Viva and Ray Russell. Her older brother, Raymond, was away at school during her childhood, so she spent much of her time in the company of the farm’s chickens, cows and produce. Her stories of collecting eggs, bringing the cows home at night, turning many rows of water melons and taking produce to market reveled her early desire for city life. Faith was 16 when her father died - she and her mother moved to Chanute and Faith attended Neosho Community College. She then moved to Manhattan to complete her BS in Dietetics at KSU (1947). She completed her dietetics internship at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio (1948). While she attended KSU, she lived at a rooming house in the home of Georgia and Gavin Roach where she met their son, Tom, after the war. She and Tom married on August 20, 1949 in Chanute, Kansas and moved to Hays where their daughter, Rebecca, was born. She worked as a dietitian at Hadley Memorial Hospital. In 1954 they moved to Newton, Kansas where Richard was born and Faith worked at a Methodist Youthville. In 1959 they came to Manhattan where Faith and Tom remained throughout their lives. Faith began graduate work at KSU and received her MS (1966) and PhD (1973) degrees. She taught, did research and directed the undergraduate dietetics program in the Restaurant, Hotel, Institution Management and Dietetics Department (now Food, Nutrition, Dietetics and Health) in the College of Human Ecology (now Health and Human Sciences). She made many deep and lasting friendships with the undergraduate and graduate students she advised, with the faculty and staff at KSU and with dietetics professionals throughout the world. Faith was active in the American Dietetic Association (now the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics) at the local, state and national levels. Martha “Marty” Mae (Rush) Lehmann, 77, of Manhattan, KS, died on August 8, 2022, at Olathe Health Hospice House following the aftermath of a major stroke. Marty, named after her wonderful grandmother, Marta LaSagna, with whom she had a special relationship, was born on December 12, 1944, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Paul and Katherine (LaSagna) Rush. Although Marty had several jobs, from working at Goldblatt’s to Wendy’s, she spent most of her career as a homemaker tending to her sons and all their events throughout the Manhattan area, having fond memories of countless summer baseball games. She earned her Associates Degree in Medical Records and worked many years at Kansas State University’s Lafene Health Center. One of her greatest joys was when she became a grandmother and doting on her grandchildren. She loved taking them to the playground and was very adept at maneuvering the slide with both boys in hand. In her spare time, Marty could be found doing crossword puzzles, watching NCIS and the Game Show Network, and walking her four-legged animal pals, Oscar and Tucker. She loved to laugh, and had great fun watching old movie comedies. Above all, she loved being with her family and friends. Allen William Archer, 70, of Manhattan, Kansas, died Friday, August 12, 2022. Al was a Professor Emeritus of Geology at Kansas State University and a long-time resident of Manhattan.

Al was born June 7, 1952, in Harford City, Indiana, the son of Don and Martha (McColly) Archer. He attended college at Indiana University and Oregon State, and Al received a PhD in Geology from Indiana University.

Al was a Professor of Geology at Kansas State for more than three decades, where his expertise was in tidal sediments at river deltas. Al’s research took him to the great rivers of the world, and his particular passion was for the Amazon. Al spent much of his spare time tinkering and playing music. He built musical instruments and made robots. He played the dobro, banjo, and pedal steel guitar, and performed with a local old-time country bluegrass band. Al was married to Lori Zinn for more than 30 years, and later divorced. Lori and Al had two daughters, Hannah and Emily, who grew up in Manhattan. Al has in recent years lived with his partner, Lucy Wanja, in Manhattan. Al is survived by his partner Lucy, his daughters, and his brother, Don Archer of Berkeley, California.

A memorial service celebrating Al’s life will be announced at a later date. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, which may be sent in care of Campanella &amp; Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego, Kansas.&nbsp;

Faye Lucille Will, 84, La Crosse, Kansas, passed away Sunday, August 
14, 2022, at Rush County Memorial Hospital Intermediate Swing Bed, La 
Crosse, Kansas.

Faye was born August 25, 1937, in Gilead, Nebraska, the daughter of 
William Adolf and Lucille Viola (Borovicka) Peperkorn.&nbsp; She was a 
resident of Rush County, Kansas, for 50+ years, moving from Colorado.&nbsp; A
 1955 graduate of Hebron High School, Hebron, Nebraska.&nbsp; Faye was a bank
 teller for Farmers Bank &amp; Trust, formerly The Home State Bank, La 
Crosse, Kansas, for 30+ years before her retirement.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Great Bend, Kansas; and 
attended services at Hope Lutheran Church, Rush Center, Kansas, and 
First Lutheran Church, La Crosse, Kansas.

The sun and moon in her life were her son and daughter, Steve and 
Denise, her four grandchildren, and her 7 ½ great grandchildren.

Faye enjoyed and spent many hours watching her grandchildren’s sporting events.&nbsp; She also enjoyed quilting.

In 1957, she married Don Richardson at Hebron, Nebraska.&nbsp; They were blessed with two children, Steve and Denise.

She later married Reverend Kenneth J. Will on June 9, 1967, at Denver, Colorado.&nbsp; He preceded her in death March 16, 2016.

Survivors include:&nbsp; one son, Steve Richardson, La Crosse, Kansas; one
 daughter, Denise Morrison (Steve), Hoisington, Kansas; four 
grandchildren, Casey Morrison (Nichole), Albert, Kansas, Carla Schartz 
(Lance), Andover, Kansas, Abigail Jonas (Shane), Hoisington, Kansas, and
 Stephanie Koochel (Ethan), Manhattan, Kansas; seven great grandchildren
 with an eighth on the way; and one sister, Janice Wulfkeotter (Darold),
 Olathe, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, 
William “Billy” Peperkorn, and his wife, Lucille; an infant brother, 
Fredrick Peperkorn; and one sister, Norma Corliss, and her husband, 
Raymond.

Per Faye’s wishes, the family has chosen cremation.

A graveside memorial service will be Saturday, August 27, 2022, at 
11:00 A.M. at the La Crosse City Cemetery, La Crosse, Kansas.&nbsp; Inurnment

William Adolf and Lucille Viola (Borovicka) Peperkorn.&nbsp; She was a 
resident of Rush County, Kansas, for 50+ years, moving from Colorado.&nbsp; A
 1955 graduate of Hebron High School, Hebron, Nebraska.&nbsp; Faye was a bank
 teller for Farmers Bank &amp; Trust, formerly The Home State Bank, La 
Crosse, Kansas, for 30+ years before her retirement.She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Great Bend, Kansas; and 
attended services at Hope Lutheran Church, Rush Center, Kansas, and 
First Lutheran Church, La Crosse, Kansas.The sun and moon in her life were her son and daughter, Steve and 
Denise, her four grandchildren, and her 7 ½ great grandchildren.Faye enjoyed and spent many hours watching her grandchildren’s sporting events.&nbsp; She also enjoyed quilting.In 1957, she married Don Richardson at Hebron, Nebraska.&nbsp; They were blessed with two children, Steve and Denise.She later married Reverend Kenneth J. Will on June 9, 1967, at Denver, Colorado.&nbsp; He preceded her in death March 16, 2016.Survivors include:&nbsp; one son, Steve Richardson, La Crosse, Kansas; one
 daughter, Denise Morrison (Steve), Hoisington, Kansas; four 
grandchildren, Casey Morrison (Nichole), Albert, Kansas, Carla Schartz

 Stephanie Koochel (Ethan), Manhattan, Kansas; seven great grandchildren

Bear was born July 6, 1977, in Olean, NY the son of Floyd E. and Linda S. (Anders) Vanderwege. Bear was the owner and operator of Bear's Den Buy Sell and Trade in Junction City, KS. On August 6, 2016, he married Dr. Mary Katherine Gooch at the First Presbyterian Church in Junction City, KS. Survivors include his wife Dr. Mary Katherine Gooch of Milford, KS; one son, Jamie Winsor of AK; his mother, Linda S. Rodolfo (Rudy) Frank Besa, of Manhattan, passed away peacefully August 12, 2022 at his home, in Manhattan. Rudy was born October 30, 1933 the son of Gregorio and Matilde Besa of Eagle Pass, Texas. Rudy was a baseball player in his younger years. He also helped his parents on their farm. He then joined the military where he met Haiti, during this marriage they had a daughter, Petra (Patty). They were later divorced. During his military career he was stationed at Ft. Riley. After getting out he worked many jobs in Manhattan. from Vikings Gas Station attendant to a machinist at McCall Pattern, where he retired from after 30 years He then met the true love of his life and his soulmate, Carolyn Fortner, where they became one when they joined in marriage, March 26, 1960. Together they celebrated 60 years of marriage. During their lifetime they traveled to may places and hosted many parties. He was proceeded in death by his wife Carolyn, his parents, and infant son, a grandson, his son Juan and many relatives and friends. Rudy is survived by his daughter, Brenda Emory of Manhattan, Greg Besa and companion Jill of Kansas City, KS, Tony Fortner and wife Kathie, Morganville, KS, Patty Harris and husband Mark of Cuba, MO. His grandchildren, Justin, Miranda, Tamara, Jesse, Mitchell, Shelby, Matthew, Mellissa, Melony, Sydney, Allison, Gwendolyn. Kim was born on March 2, 1966, in Merced, California.&nbsp; She married Robert P. Jamieson, II, in 2001.

Survivors include her husband, Robbie and six children:&nbsp;Tina, Crissy, Matthew, Jonathon, Kyle, and Kristopher&nbsp;as well as her brother, sisters, aunts and uncles.

Cremation is planned and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Mary M. (Hansen) Smith passed Friday evening, August 12, 2022 at Enterprise Estates Nursing Center. Family Members were at her side throughout the day and evening. Mary was 86 years, 11 months and 3 weeks old. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Funeral Arrangements are with Martin-Becker-Carlson-Funeral Home in Abilene. Family visitation will be Wednesday Aug 17, 2002 at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Enterprise Community Church in Enterprise, KS on Thursday April 18, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Arnie Boyd officiating. Graveside service to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Enterprise, KS. She was born on her maternal grandparent’s farm in Charlotte County, VA on August 20, 1935, the daughter of Annie (Powell) &amp; Master Gunnery Sgt. Cecil Hansen. Mary spent her early years there on the farm, surrounded by a large family while her father served in the USMC. After his retirement the family moved to Enterprise, KS where Mary attended Enterprise H.S. It was there that she first met her future husband, Ron Smith. After graduation she moved to Topeka, KS where she attended nursing school and worked at Merchants Bank. In 1960 she married Ron Smith (Ret. SMSGT). They spent several years in the Topeka area while Ron was stationed at Forbes Air Base. Three children were born in Topeka, Kristina, Valarie &amp; Ron Jr. (Lee). Mary spent 27 years as an Air Force military wife, moving many times as Ron’s base assignments changed. She served in the Red Cross in a number of roles and locations over the years, including Guam where she would meet the Air Evac planes coming from Vietnam to Guam. She offered comfort and what assistance she could to the wounded soldiers on their layover before their return to their homes. In later years the family was stationed in Germany where Mary traveled to Paris and numerous landmarks and castles in Germany. Upon Ron’s retirement from the AF, the family moved back to Enterprise, KS. For 40 years they made their home on Factory ST. in Enterprise. Mary was a very friendly woman who loved to talk and visit with everyone she met. She never knew a stranger. She was a lifelong church member beginning in VA and continuing on through the family's travels and The Enterprise United Methodist Church. Mary was a long time Sunday School teacher and had various committee and group roles over the years. Mary learned to play piano, crochet and sew as a young girl and continued those hobbies throughout her life. She loved flowers and her flower beds as well as houseplants. She was a steadfast Kansan and loved her state, visiting state landmarks and lakes. One of her favorite things were family picnics at Milford Lake. She was an “Avon Lady” for a number of years and thoroughly enjoyed the trips with other ladies to see what was new in Avon and visiting her many area customers. Mary is survived by her beloved husband Ron of the home. Mary adored Ron and often referred to him as the “best of the best”, three children, Kristina (Ken) Jackson, Valarie (Kirk) Greenemeyer and Ron (Maria) Smith, Jr., 12 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, a sister, Ruth Hansen Wilcox of VA, and other family members. Kristopher (Kris) Philley of Olathe, KS passed away on Tuesday August 2nd at the young age of 38 due to complications of Covid.

Kris was born in Marlin, TX to Martha Sue (Anderson) and Jerry Philley. He graduated from Rosebud-Lott High School in 2002. He attended Kansas State University and loved his Wildcats!

Kris is survived by his father Jerry Philley of Abilene, KS; two sisters Terri Philley and Kimberly Musser; a nephew Trey Sulak; and two nieces Freya Wood and Erin Wood along with many other family members, co-workers and friends whom he treasured as “second family.”

He will be forever remembered by his infectious laughter, gentle nature, kind heart and devoted friendship.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Ruth Eilene Diller, age 79, of Manhattan, died August 10, 2022 at Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community in Manhattan, KS. She was born in McLouth, KS on December 17, 1942 to Roy Curtis Hopkins and Dorothy Maye (Ashworth) Hopkins. At age 13, Ruth moved with her family from McLouth to Coffeyville, KS. She graduated from high school in Coffeyville. After high school, Ruth worked as a waitress at a local soda shop where she met Basil Allen Diller, Jr. (“Al”). They were united in marriage on November 27, 1960. Ruth and Al had six children. Ruth’s favorite activity was spending time with family. She also enjoyed visiting with friends, playing cards, quilting, bowling, reading, baking, and watching K-State football. Ruth is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her brother: Tom Hopkins; a daughter: Mary Eilene Diller; and many loved aunts, uncles, and cousins. Survivors include five children: Sherry Schooley of Manhattan, KS, Chris Diller and his wife Kelly of Erie, KS, Steve Diller of Chanute, KS, John Diller of Westmoreland, KS, and Amy Parker and her husband Tony of Manhattan, KS; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Marlene Belt and her husband John of Wichita, KS. Edmund “Ed” Zemp, age 97, of Manhattan, KS died Friday August 12, 2022 at the Home of the Flint Hills in St. George, KS. Ed was born on July 26, 1925 in Wola Mlocka, Poland, the son of Samuel and Augusta (Meister) Sempf. On April 3, 1954 in Bedford, England, he was united in marriage to Jean Lillian Ellis. She preceded Ed in death on December 29, 2017. Ed and Jean immigrated to the United States in 1961. They moved to Warren, Michigan. Ed immediately started working at Howard Plating Industries and continued to work there until his retirement at age 65. He and Jean moved to Manhattan, KS in 2017, to be closer to their daughter Anne Byford and her family. Ed is survived by his daughters, Christine Fletcher and her husband Rev. Joe Fletcher, and Anne Byford and her husband Rev. David Byford. Also, he is survived by his grandchildren: Matthew Byford and his wife Rachel Byford, and Barbara Jean Zhao and her husband Yang Zhao, and his great-grandchild Benjamin and Liam Zhao. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday August 15, 2022 at Faith Baptist Church, 1001 South Scenic Drive in Manhattan KS with Rev. David Byford and Rev. Joe Fletcher officiating. Rosemary Elizabeth Schmeal, age 62, of Manhattan, died August 11, 2022, at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan. She was born March 16, 1960, in Newton, NJ, the daughter of John H. and Helen (Grabinski) Schmeal, Sr. Rosemary graduated from high school in Hackettstown, NJ, and attended cosmetology school in Manhattan after moving to Kansas in 1981. She had worked as a hairdresser at several salons in Manhattan over her 30-year career. Rosemary attended the St. George United Methodist Church. She enjoyed volunteering with the elderly, cooking, and spoiling her dog KD. Survivors include her two children: Greg Zarger and his wife Lucy of Union Beach, NJ, and Heather Heigert and her husband Michael of Manhattan; four grandchildren: Jackelyn, Jayden and Lily Zarger and Taylor Heigert; and three sisters: Kathy Smith of Lecanto, FL, Margaret Kelly of Egg Harbor Township, NJ and Lisa Gilliland of Olsburg. Rosemary was preceded in death by her brother John H. “Jack” Schmeal, Jr., her husband David Zarger, and one granddaughter Margaret Zarger. A Celebration of Rosemary’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 19th, at the St. George United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be in the St. George Cemetery. Richard Robert Callahan, age 86, of Blue Springs, MO, passed away on August 8, 2022, following a short battle with cancer. Richard was born April 19, 1936, in Manhattan, Kansas, to Robert James and Maxine Elizabeth (Van Dusen) Callahan. Richard married his wife of 57 years, Willetta M. Littrell on September 17, 1954. She preceded him in death on January 17, 2012. Richard was again blessed when he married Julie Pigg on December 15, 2013, in Blue Springs, MO. He lived in several towns in Kansas and Missouri as he perfected his trade of welding. Richard worked on many buildings in the Greater Kansas City area from 1961 to 2001. He was a member of the International Iron Workers Union, Local#10. In 1964, he settled in Lenexa, Kansas to raise his family. Richard is survived by his wife Julie, his sister Pearle Ann Bishop of Panama City, FL, four children: Ronald Callahan of Garnett, Ks; Sandra Finnicum and her husband Doug of Olathe, Kansas; Debra Callahan of Garnett, Kansas; and Linda Lapp and her husband John of Fredericksburg, VA. In addition, Richard has 10 grandchildren: Melissa Ochoa (Gilbert), Samuel Finnicum (Chelsea), Murph Finnicum (Renee), Timothy Finnicum (Kayla), Cynthia Brown (Marshall), James Brown, Jacob Sweany (Cintia), Joshua Sweany, Nathan Sweany (Alise), and Amos Sweany; and nine great-grandchildren: Richard (Ricky), Joseph, Francisco (Kiko), Karina, Liliana, Melody, Mariah, Noah, and Mia. Bonus children from his marriage to Julie include Christine Ream, Steve Kaminski, and Vicki Howe (Johnnie) as well as four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Richard worked as an iron worker/welder for 40 years in the greater Kansas City area and retired at age 65 to pursue a second career raising cattle in Garnett, Kansas. No one built a fence comparable to him. Richard’s fences, especially his fence posts, will last for many, many years to come! Richard was also a square dance caller and teacher for many years. He called for the Jet Sets and Crosstrailers Clubs for many years. He taught hundreds of people to square dance over the years through the Johnson County Parks &amp; Recreation. Upon Richard’s final retirement, he moved to Mission, TX. In November 2021, he and Julie moved to Blue Springs, MO, to be closer to family. Everyone who knew Richard was blessed. He worked hard, played hard, loved a cold beer with friends and family, and always helped with anything that needed fixing. Richard’s final resting place will be at the Valley View Memorial Park Cemetery, Manhattan, KS 66502. The family will hold a celebration of Richard’s life at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the John H.
