Sally Ann Rivera, 70, of Junction City, Kansas passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at her home surrounded by family. Cremation will take place. A visitation will be held 2-4 p.m. Sunday, February 5, 2023, at Johnson Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to be given to St. Xavier Catholic Church or to the organization of the donor's choice.
Sally was born July 30, 1952, in Junction City, Kansas the daughter of Joseph Ray and Frances Joan (Grant) Cowan. Sally lived in Chicago from 1982 until 2003.
Sally graduated from Junction City High School with the class of 1970. She attended Brown Mackie Business School in Salina, Kansas. Sally spent most of her life working as a clerical administrative coordinator in the health care industry. She also went to tax school and spent many years working for H & R Block Tax Services in Chicago. While living in Chicago, she operated "Pet Vacation" a pet sitting business where she had the opportunity to take care of a cat that belonged to Mark Grace who played baseball for the Cub's. After returning to Junction City, she worked for Dr. Ronald Mace having retired in 2015.
Sally was a member of St. Xavier Catholic Church. She loved to garden and grow flowers. She was always the life of the party.
She married Frank Rivera July 16, 1982 in Junction City, Kansas.
Survivors include her husband Frank of the home in Junction City, Kansas; three daughters, Ann Marie Wellington and Jennifer Lee Will both of Springfield, Missouri and Michelle Genevieve Thurber of Kansas City, Missouri; three brothers, Steve Cowan of Overland Park, Kansas, Sean Cowan of Kansas City, Missouri and Tim Cowan of Junction City, Kansas; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Casey Cowan.
