It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kevin Siebold, who left us on April 16, 2024.

Born on November 5, 1963, Kevin lived a full life marked by humor, wit, and stubbornness that endeared him to those around him. He is deeply mourned by his friends, family, and community, and will be missed dearly.

Kevin is survived by his beloved children: Amber Williams, Kelci Siebold, and Shaun Siebold, all of whom brought great joy and pride to his life. His mother, Betty Siebold, continues to carry his memory, as do his siblings: Dawn, Cheryl, Dana, Jandrea, and Randy Siebold.

Kevin was predeceased by his father, Gary Siebold, and his spouse, Malena Braaksma. The bond of love and respect Kevin had with his family was a testament to his character.

A man rooted in personal joys; Kevin appreciated the simple pleasures in life. His favored foods included sausage and fried potatoes, a true testament to his love for hearty, home-cooked meals. He was an avid outdoorsman, with a penchant for fishing and hunting. When he wasn't engaging in these activities, you could find him locally at Gatesville or hunting for mushrooms, which provided him with much solace and pleasure.

Described as a stubborn man with a wit that could rival any stand-up comedian, Kevin had a jovial nature that filled every room he entered. Despite his strong will, he had a soft spot for humor and was always ready with a joke to lighten the atmosphere. He was someone who lived his life on his own terms and left indelible memories among those fortunate to have known him.&nbsp;

A Celebration of Life service is pending and will be announced later by the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.

Stewart Graves, 58, of Salina passed away March 12, 2024 at the Salina Regional Health Center.

 Stewart was born January 2, 1966 the son of Eldon and Naomi Graves in Junction City, Kansas. Stewart grew up in Abilene and attended High School in the Class of 1984. Stewart obtained some college credits. Stewart worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation as a mechanic foreman in the Salina District. Stewart was a fun loving soul and the highlight in his life was his daughter Lydia and granddaughter Willow as well as his motorcycle.

Stewart was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Vincent Graves. Stewart is survived by his daughter Lydia Graves of Salina, his granddaughter Willow Higgins and his brother Kenneth Graves of Salina.

Funeral services for Stewart will be Monday April 22 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Michel’s Church 210 E. 6th Street Chapman, Kansas. Stewart's final resting place will be in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery rural Chapman. Stewart Graves

Carl Joseph Hoefler, age 95, of Manhattan, died April 16, 2024, at the Good Shepherd Homecare and Hospice House in Manhattan.

He was born March 16, 1929, in Westphalia, Kansas, the son of Vincent Joseph and Caroline Ann (Stahl) Hoefler.

Carl grew up in rural Westphalia on the family farm and graduated from Westphalia High School.

He farmed in the Westphalia area until 1955 when he moved to the Manhattan Area. He then worked for Mertz Farms, R&amp;G Market, Frye Farms and at Doebele IGA Market prior to joining the Manhattan Fire Department. He worked for 22 years as a Fireman and then for 7 years for the Manhattan Water Department. While with the Fire Department he worked for Carl Drumm General Contracting as a laborer. Carl loved working and he was skilled in many crafts.

Carl was a very devout member of the Catholic Church and served as an Altar boy at his home church, St. Teresa Catholic Church in Westphalia, from 4th grade until the week before he got married. He was a member of the Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Manhattan.

He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Konza Prairie Chapter of the United States Bowling Congress. He was a sports fan and enjoyed bowling, traveling, hunting and fishing. Most of all Carl loved his family and was a great father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved going to his family’s activities and spent many hours in the bleachers watching all of their events and activities.

On September 15, 1951, in Westphalia, Kansas, he was married to Patricia Joan Colvin. Patricia preceded Carl in death on March 21, 2003. He was also preceded in death by five siblings: Richard, Vincent and John Hoefler, Anna Huerter, and by a brother in infancy.

Survivors include five children: Carla Jacobia (Jim) of Wamego, KS, Marcia Roets of Manhattan, Rob Hoefler (Mary) of Manhattan, Steve Hoefler (Brenda) of Manhattan, and Mike Hoefler (Kim) of Pawhuska, OK; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 5:30 P.M. Sunday, April 21st, at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home. A Parish Vigil will be held at 5:30 P.M. Sunday, in the funeral home chapel.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, April 22nd, at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Manhattan with Father Gale Hammerschmidt as Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan.

Carl Joseph Hoefler

Michael G. Redeker, age 72, passed away on Tues, Apr. 16, 2024, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House, Manhattan, KS. He was born on Mar. 10, 1952, to John Jr. and Laura (Dieker) Redeker, in Emporia, KS.

Michael married his High School sweetheart Kathy (Schneider) Redeker on Jun. 24, 1972 in Olpe, KS.

Michael was a skilled carpenter, and retired from the Emporia State University Carpenter Shop. He got much enjoyment creating treasured keepsakes for his grandchildren, family, and friends, He had a sense of humor and made it his goal to make someone laugh each day. Entertaining family and friends in his shop was one of his favorite pastimes. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, golfing, and always looked forward to Summer fishing with his grandsons, and playing at the park with his granddaughters. The farm, the front porch, and the Flint Hills were some of his favorite places.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy; sons, Ryan (Alicia) Redeker, Olpe, KS, Andrew (Stacey) Redeker, Kansas City, MO, Nathan (Erin) Redeker, Manhattan, KS; brothers, Don (Pam) Redeker, Manhattan, KS, Larry (Rose), Ken (Debra), Bob (Brenda) Redeker, all from Olpe, KS; sisters, Marie (Charlie) Haag, Olpe, KS and Laurie (Phil) Eichman, Manhattan, KS; 4 grandsons, Hunter, Dawson, Walker, Karsyn; 2 grand-daughters Lauren and Addison; and a brother in law, Danny Schmidt, Emporia, KS.

Michael G. Redeker

Toastie Racy was born December 14, 1943, in Saginaw, Michigan, and departed this life on April 12, 2024, at her home in Abilene, Kansas. 

Toastie was the oldest daughter of Edward and Bette (Ryan) Blewitt. She grew up in the Topeka area, attended the local schools, and graduated from Hayden High School. She attended the University of Kansas. On November 23, 1963, she was united in marriage with Melvin Racy in Lawrence, Kansas. Mel and Toastie called Lawrence their home until the summer of 1978, when the family moved to Abilene, Kansas. A kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Toastie was devoted to her faith and committed to her family. 

Toastie is survived by her two sons Mike (Kathy) of Riverside, Missouri and Kip of Stillwater, Oklahoma; three daughters, RaeLyn of Argyle, Texas, Kelly Jones (Chris) of Beatrice, Nebraska, and Kim Funston (Heath) of Abilene, Kansas. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren: a sister Teri Hatfield (Larry) of Lawrence, Kansas, and Tip Ryan (Jenny) of Park City, Utah. Toastie was preceded in death by her husband Mel, her mother Bette, her father Edward, her brother Daniel, and her niece Matti.Toastie loved her faith, her family, and her friends. When she wasn’t at an Abilene ball game or a church or school activity, she was often traveling to see family or to be with friends.

There will be a Rosary prayed for Toastie at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, April 19th at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Abilene, Kansas. The Family will receive friends immediately following the prayer service next door at the Parish Hall. Christina (Chris) Marie Savery, 56, of Abilene passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at home.

She was born on August 22, 1967, in Abilene, KS, the daughter of John and Maggie Brunner. She grew up in Abilene and enjoyed playing softball and hanging out with her family and friends.

She worked for Great Plains Manufacturing for 15 years. Chris enjoyed spending time with her seven grandchildren and watching her favorite sports teams; the Jayhawks, Chiefs, and Royals.

Chris is survived by her two sons Travis (and Hannah) Savery of Abilene, Tyler (and Heather) Savery of Salina; seven grandchildren: Houston, Henry, Hudson, Emmett, Isaac, Simon, and Nora Savery.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jeff Savery, parents John and Maggie Brunner, brothers Richard, Roger, and Bob Brunner, and sister Debbie Parks.

There will be a visitation on Thursday, April 18 from 5-7 p.m. at the Carlson Becker funeral home in Abilene, KS.&nbsp; A graveside service will be held on April 19 at 2 p.m. at the Hope, KS cemetery.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Christina (Chris) Marie Savery

Robin Anne Riat, 54, of Belton, Missouri, passed away April 8, 2024, after a short illness. 

She was born on February 11, 1970, in Abilene, Kansas, the daughter of Marilyn Kay Copeland Riat and Lawrence Dean Riat. She grew up in Abilene and graduated from Abilene High School with the class of 1988. She earned an undergraduate degree from William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri, a master’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a master’s degree from Friends University in Wichita, Kansas, and was pursuing a degree from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut.She worked as a librarian for universities, private companies, and government agencies and most recently worked as a records management analyst, trainer and instructional developer for the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration in Kansas City, Missouri.

Robin enjoyed genealogy and family history and compiled an online index to early 20th century newspapers from Skidmore, Missouri, her mother’s hometown. She also enjoyed reading, music, feeding the birds and squirrels, visiting with friends, and caring for cats, including Maggie, Cleo, and most recently, Millie.

She is survived by her father, Larry Riat of Chapman, Kansas; her aunt Lois (Charles) Deyoe of Manhattan, Kansas, her aunt Linda (Bill) Crutcher of Stillwater, Oklahoma, her aunt Patricia Copeland of Noblesville, Indiana, and her uncle Herb Anderson of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, her uncle Robert D. Riat of Wamego, Kansas. She is also survived by her cousin, Ann Copeland of Las Vegas, Nevada; her cousin, Lea (Scott) Bishop of Carmel, Indiana and children Matthew of Zionsville, Indiana and Morgan of Cary, North Carolina; her cousin David (Marsha) Copeland of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marilyn Copeland Riat, and her aunt Margaret Copeland Anderson. Her uncle, Mervyn “Mickey” Copeland also passed away April 8, 2024.

Graveside services are planned for Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Abilene Cemetery near her mother.

 </figure>Robin Anne Riat, 54, of Belton, Missouri, passed away April 8, 2024, after a short illness. She was born on February 11, 1970, in Abilene, Kansas, the daughter of Marilyn Kay Copeland Riat and Lawrence Dean Riat. She grew up in Abilene and graduated from Abilene High School with the class of 1988. She earned an undergraduate degree from William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri, a master’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a master’s degree from Friends University in Wichita, Kansas, and was pursuing a degree from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut.She worked as a librarian for universities, private companies, and government agencies and most recently worked as a records management analyst, trainer and instructional developer for the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration in Kansas City, Missouri.Robin enjoyed genealogy and family history and compiled an online index to early 20th century newspapers from Skidmore, Missouri, her mother’s hometown. She also enjoyed reading, music, feeding the birds and squirrels, visiting with friends, and caring for cats, including Maggie, Cleo, and most recently, Millie.She is survived by her father, Larry Riat of Chapman, Kansas; her aunt Lois (Charles) Deyoe of Manhattan, Kansas, her aunt Linda (Bill) Crutcher of Stillwater, Oklahoma, her aunt Patricia Copeland of Noblesville, Indiana, and her uncle Herb Anderson of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, her uncle Robert D. Riat of Wamego, Kansas. She is also survived by her cousin, Ann Copeland of Las Vegas, Nevada; her cousin, Lea (Scott) Bishop of Carmel, Indiana and children Matthew of Zionsville, Indiana and Morgan of Cary, North Carolina; her cousin David (Marsha) Copeland of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marilyn Copeland Riat, and her aunt Margaret Copeland Anderson. Her uncle, Mervyn “Mickey” Copeland also passed away April 8, 2024.Graveside services are planned for Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Abilene Cemetery near her mother. Joan B. Danner (Joanie) was born June 21, 1937 to parents Owen Love Gallaher and Sylvia B. Gallaher (Salmons) in Winningkoff, Texas. 

Winningkoff was a magical place for Joanie, as her grandfather, Lee Gallaher, owned a farm there and she spent many happy times at his home. She and her cousin, Jimmy, spent their days riding horses without a saddle and cooking potatoes on a fire they set up down by the always ice cold spring, enjoying times when friends and family would gather for music where many of the attendees would play the piano, guitars, banjoes, fiddles, etc. and just have a fun, musical evening. It truly was a magical place that even many years later, she would think of with much love and happiness. Joanie’s father, Owen, died when she was five and her older brother, Love, was 10. Joanie went to her first year of school at the country, two-room schoolhouse that her grandfather, Lee Gallaher, helped build years before. Joanie had a younger sister, Sandra Kay, and along with brother, Love, and mother, Sylvia, they settled in Plano, Texas and Joanie completed her schooling in Plano graduating from high school in 1956 in a class of 52. Plano had a population of just over 2000 and was a sleepy, Mayberry-type of great place to grow up. Plano now has a population of 285,500. Joanie was a majorette for four years and loved marching each year in the annual Cotton Bowl football game parade. She was a class officer all four years of high school. Joanie worked at the local newspaper as the high school reporter and wrote up articles about the student activities and sports.

After high school, Joanie attended TWU (Texas Woman’s University) in Denton, Texas, majoring in art and journalism. Joanie then went to work at the Earle M. Jorgensen Steel Company, where she was the Inside Sales secretary for seven salesmen. She later worked at Pontiac Motor Division of General Motors and was the Assistant Zone Manager’s secretary, and also operated one of the very first key punch machines for ordering cars for the Pontiac Dealers. While living in Dallas, Joanie was asked to be one of the models for the Clifton Wilhite Company, which designed ball gowns and evening wear sold all over America. August 18, 1962 Joanie was united in marriage to Richard Danner. They left Dallas and moved to Topeka, Kansas, where Richard finished up his college degree and Joanie worked as the first secretary for the White Lakes Mall Shopping Center, which was just getting tenants and beginning construction. They moved back to Abilene and Richard joined his father, Ray, in operating the Danner Funeral Home. Joanie worked as secretary to Principal George Madelen at Abilene High School and later was secretary to Bob Pierce at the Duckwall Stores, later to be known as ALCO. Richard and Joanie divorced in 1983. To this marriage, two daughters were born, Angela Kay Danner and Amy Rae (Danner) Flinn.Joanie loved entertaining and had many dinner parties and enjoyed making delicious meals for her friends. Her favorite thing to do was go to antique sales all over town and surrounding country auctions. She refinished over 30 pieces of furniture and loved going to her furniture refinishing class. During these years, Joanie also started a new hobby of painting in oils and acrylics. Over the years, Joanie belonged to many organizations which included Junior Thursday Study Club in Texas, Jaycee Jaynes, Abilene Country Club, Junior League, Gourmet Club, Birthday Club, Buckeye Saddle Club, Beta Sigma Phi, and 4H Cooking Teacher. Joanie designed every inch of her beautiful home, Windy Hill Farm, and she loved being there so very much. Joanie also loved gardening, and her favorite flower was roses of all kinds. She had many rose bushes, which gave her great joy.Joanie worked at the Topeka, Kansas Police Department, Records Division, for seven years as a Senior Records Clerk and seven years as a Supervisor in Records. Joanie retired from this job in August 2001 and moved back to Abilene.

Joanie loved playing with her three grandchildren, Landon Flinn and twins Millie and Jimmy Danner-Homer, and she became quite the lover of children once they were born. She had been a curmudgeon about children until they came along, and all of a sudden, children were wonderful!

 Joanie is preceded in death by her parents, Owen L. Gallaher Sr, Sylvia B. Gallaher Wims and Weldon Wims, brother Owen Love Jr, nephews John Owen and Darryl Gallaher, and niece Cheryl Scovill. She is survived by daughters, Angela Kay Danner and Amy Rae Flinn (Steve), her grandchildren, Landon Flinn, Millie Danner-Homer, and Jimmy Danner-Homer, sister Kay and husband James Christopher, niece Karen Caramela and husband Jon Phenicie, and great niece Morgan Jenson, sister-in-law Beatrice Gallaher, nieces Beth Ann Gallaher, Brenda and husband Dennis Hozak, great nephew Brandon Hozak, and nephew Bryan Gallaher.

In her later years, Joanie had many health issues and her life became very different, as she could not get around without a rollator, so the once very lively lady became very much a stay at home person. During this time, she spent many happy hours creating beautiful scrapbooks for her daughters and grandchildren that they will cherish forever. She especially enjoyed spending time with Angela and the twins in Kansas City and with Amy and her family in St. George, KS.

Cremation has been chosen and Joanie requested that no services be held. Joanie loved her family and friends, and she would wish each one to remember at least one happy time they had spent with her and keep her in their memories. Memorials may be made in Joanie’s memory to the Abilene Public Library in care of Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, Abilene, KS.&nbsp;&nbsp;

I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one remembering all the fun times laughing, traveling and bright sunny days we shared together. I’d like the tears of those who grieve to dry, I lived a full adventurous life doing all the things I was passionate about. I cherished the times we spent together know this and may you keep it in your hearts, until we meet again.

Ben was born to Charles David Woodley and Lora L Woodley (later divorced) on March 27, 1982, at Stormont Vail in Topeka KS. Ben attended Whitson Elementary and later moved to Wamego KS where he attended Wamego Middle school and graduated from Wamego High school in 2001. He was loved by many, his senior year he was voted homecoming King. Ben was active in football, track and basketball. He loved sports and his team mates, who became lifelong friends. Ben earned a full basketball scholarship to Highland Community College where he graduated in 2004 with an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts.

Ben was an Independent Contractor from 1996 – 2021, and was a true entrepreneur during his life. He worked as a laborer building homes, landscaping, painting and roofing. He loved to learn and expand his knowledge in every area. He helped build several properties for Herman Enterprises LLC.&nbsp;

Ben wanted to experience life to the fullest, so he moved to Colorado to enjoy the beautiful outdoors and mountains. He found other passions for skiing, rock climbing, hiking the Humboldt, Castle, Conundrum, Red cloud and Sunshine mountains, biking and camping.

Ben was so adventurous and also had a passion for travel. In 2007, he pursued a career in modeling for national brand under Maxium Agency. &nbsp;For years, he modeled (part time) for Cabela’s Sport &amp; Goods, Spiders Sportswear, Cinch Clothing, Shepler Western Wear, and graced the cover of SIR and Sport Men’s Fashion magazine. He also modeled for smaller local companies; advertising their clothing attire in print catalogs and TV ads. This endeavor also provided him the opportunity and freedom to experience many gorgeous places. &nbsp;Including hidden beaches (the average person doesn’t have the privilege of experiencing), but his favorite was his extended time in Italy learning their culture as well as his time in Thailand.

Ben worked for himself for many years BW Property Management managed multiple Apartments and homes in Colorado, Kansas, and Oklahoma. In 2016 he received his Colorado Real Estate license and started his company BW Real Estate.

Ben has always been an inspiration to many. He passion to love and help others has always been a priority. His personality and smile could light up any room; every person he met became a friend.You will be greatly missed! We love you Ben, until we meet again!

Nancy Marie Songs, 72, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2024, at University of Kansas St. Francis Hospital, Topeka, Kansas. She was a life-long resident of the area.

She was born January 22, 1952, in Russell, Kansas, the daughter of Alfred Paul and Fern Arlene (Ehrlich) TenEyck. &nbsp;Nancy moved to Alma as a young teenager where she attended Wabaunsee High School.&nbsp; She loved to go dancing and it was at one of these dances she met the love of her life Ray and at 18, married Ray Herman Songs on May 2, 1970. &nbsp;They celebrated 53 years together in 2023. &nbsp;Ray preceded her in death on January 12, 2024.

She worked as an office manager at Konza Veterinary Clinic in Manhattan for 20 years. &nbsp;Her love for animals was seen at the veterinary clinic and with her well known Saanen dairy goat herd. &nbsp;She loved showing her goats at club, county, and national shows throughout Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Colorado. &nbsp;She also worked as a meat packer and manager at Flint Hills Food in Alma for 17 years. &nbsp;Additionally, she assisted serving food at the Riley County Jail when it was located in downtown Manhattan, Kansas.&nbsp;In her early years with Ray, they loved to go horseback riding. &nbsp;

She is survived by her daughter: Tina Marie McIntyre, and her husband, Larry; her three grandchildren, Bryant Michael Songs (Amber Sowell), Lucas Eugene McIntyre (Alicia Farmer), and Elizabeth Marie McIntyre (Kyle Ziegelmeier), all of Manhattan; her great-grandchildren, Eric Nowland, Nevaeh Sowell, D’Leah Songs, Doniella Songs, and Azalea Songs; her brothers, Alfred TenEyck, Jr. (Cheryl), Silver Lake, and Dean TenEyck, Alma, and well as many other family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Campanella and Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego. &nbsp;Inurnment will follow in Wabaunsee Township Cemetery. &nbsp;The family will greet friends, prior to the funeral service, beginning at 9:30 a.m. &nbsp;They suggest memorial contributions to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association, and those may be sent in care of the funeral home.

&nbsp;Brett Jon Kuntz, a beloved father, son, brother, uncle, husband and friend departed from this world on April 13th, 2024, due to a tragic accident on the farm that he loved.

 He left behind a tapestry of cherished memories and a legacy of love that will endure for generations to come. On April 30th, 1980, Brett was born to Renee Jury and Bob Kuntz in Salina, Kansas. Brett's journey began with promise and purpose, each chapter enriched by his unwavering dedication to family and his compassionate spirit.Brett graduated from Chapman High School (Class of 1999) where everyone was his friend. Brett's zest for life was infectious, his smile and laughter filled every room. He was a kid at heart, finding joy in the simplest of pleasures and embracing every moment with enthusiasm.

On January 24th, 2015, Brett married Melanie Schwab, later divorced. Together, they welcomed two beautiful daughters into their lives, Journey Kuntz, 2010, and Jacey Kuntz, 2015. Brett's devotion to his family knew no bounds, and his daughters were truly the light of his life. His girls were his world, and his love for them shone brightly in every moment they shared. In the hearts of those who loved him, Brett will forever be remembered for his kindness, his humor, his soft gentle, nature and his endless love. Though he may no longer walk among us, his memory will live on in the countless lives he touched and the love he shared.

 He is survived by his daughters, Journey and Jacey Kuntz; parents, Bob (Janet) Kuntz, and Renee (Tim) Jury: brothers, Kelly (Kyanna) Kuntz, Tyler (Shari) Kuntz, and Kurt Phillips: nieces and nephews, Tristan, Sam, Clare, Meredith, Kynlie, Ellie, and Kaesen.

Brett’s family will receive friends for a visitation on Friday, April 19th, 6-8 p.m. at Londeen-Overlease Funeral Home, 206 W 5th St, Chapman, KS. Services for Brett's life will be held on April 20th, 2024, 1:30 p.m. at Brett’s home, 2775 Key Road, Abilene, KS, where family and friends will gather to honor his remarkable journey and find solace in each other's company during this time of loss. Preceding the service, a burial will be held at the Indian Hill Cemetery, 501 Hilltop Dr, Chapman, KS.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the “Brett Kuntz Memorial Fund” for Journey and Jacey, reflecting Brett's passion for his girls. Memorials may be dropped off at the funeral home or mailed to Londeen-Overlease Funeral Chapel, PO Box 411, 67431.

Anna Mae Slack (Johnson) passed away on April 13th, 2024, at her home in Wamego, Kansas, at the age of 92. She was born on June 5th, 1931, in Baileyville, Kansas, to Oscar and Elizabeth (Thomas) Johnson.

Anna was married to Otto W. Slack in September 1954. &nbsp;They were blessed with four children, William, Sharon, Randy, and Karen Slack. &nbsp;

Anna was a housekeeper and cook at Seneca Convalescent Home, Kansas, for 14 years. &nbsp;Additionally, she was a savvy business owner and owned a restaurant, gas station, and truck stop in Belvue, Kansas. Anna worked as a custodian alongside her daughter Sharon at Kansas State University for 20 years.

Anna enjoyed playing bingo and visiting casinos in her free time. &nbsp;She always had a meal ready for family and friends, including homemade cookies and bread. &nbsp;She could talk to anyone anywhere and was well-liked by all who met her.&nbsp;

Anna is survived by her children William (Vicki), Sharon, Randy, and Karen; sisters Josephine Wiggins; half-sister Rita Chauza; and Jerry Sunnenberg.

Anna is preceded in death by Hank Sunnenberg, Donald Sunnenberg, Oscarine Sunnenberg, Vincent Sunnenberg, Roberta Ross, and Alma Simmons. &nbsp;

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 20th, 2024, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Wamego. &nbsp;A rosary will be held before Mass at 10:00 a.m. &nbsp;The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Judes Children’s Hospital and may be made payable to St. Judes Children’s Hospital which may be sent in the care of Campanella &amp; Stewart Funeral Home.

Anna Mae Slack

Delmar Louis Roberson died on April 4, 2024 at his home in Manhattan Kansas.

Delmar was born on the family farm north of Burr Oak in Jewell County, Kansas, on June 7, 1937, the youngest of four children of Loren and Ethel “Mae” (Ford) Roberson. His early education was in one-room country schools before attending high school at Miltonvale Wesleyan Academy and then junior college at Miltonvale Wesleyan College where he met the love of his life, Virginia Frances Buck. He earned a bachelor’s degree in agricultural education and later a master’s degree in education, both from Kansas State University.

Delmar and Virginia were married on June 18, 1958, and this union was blessed with four children. Delmar was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and spiritual role model for his family. His kind and gentle spirit will be missed by those who knew him.

His first job out of college was teaching Vocational Agriculture at Bird City High School in northwest Kansas, which was interrupted when his National Guard unit was activated during the Berlin Crisis. After completing his service, he returned to Bird City to finish his teaching contract and then took a job teaching Vo-Ag at Mankato for two years. The family then moved to Washington, Kansas where he began his career with the USDA as a soil conservationist. His appointment as the District Conservationist in Mitchell County took them to Beloit, where he served for the next 27 years. In 1999 he and Virginia retired and moved to Manhattan where Delmar embarked on his next career of painting houses, which he continued for the rest of his life.

Delmar had a natural love of the land and the heart of a farmer, feeling a special connection to the family farm north of Burr Oak, where he spent as much time as possible. He was also an avid reader and a life-long fan of K-State basketball. He and Virginia enjoyed traveling in their retirement, visiting every state except Hawaii. They especially enjoyed a six-week long trip exploring Alaska. Although quiet and introverted, he had a genuine interest in people and often returned from their trips with stories of people they met along the way.

A humble and generous man, he was known to be ready and willing to help anyone in need. More than anything, Delmar was a servant of the Lord. He was a devoted member of the Glen Elder Friends Church and taught adult Sunday school for many years before moving to Manhattan where he was a member of Westview Community Church and an active member of the local Gideons, including the jail ministry.

Delmar is survived by his wife, Virginia of Manhattan; daughter Dawn Kingery and her husband Scott of Overland Park, Kansas; son Derrick Roberson and his wife MaryKris of Manhattan, Kansas; daughter DeAnn Silvia and her husband Patrick of O’Fallon, Illinois; son David Roberson and his wife Heather of Glenwood, Iowa; grandchildren Ellen DeBord and her husband Blair of Columbia, Missouri and their children, Evie and Ruthie; Keagan Hogan and her husband Xavier of Merriam, Kansas and their children Creed, Charlotte, and Aubree; Anne Sexton and her husband Curry of Manhattan, Kansas and their children Ellie and Theodore; Zachary Silvia of O’Fallon, Illinois; Sarah Santarelli and her husband Caleb of St. Louis, Missouri and their daughter Brynn; Daegan Kingery of Geneva, Switzerland; Grant Roberson and Leah Roberson, both of Glenwood Iowa. Delmar is also remembered by his sisters-in-law Rita Roberson and Linda Roberson, and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Loren Louis Roberson and Ethel “Mae” Roberson, brothers Beryl Roberson and Arlen Roberson, and sister Donna Mae Buckley.

A Celebration of Delmar’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 20th, at the Westview Community Church, 615 Gillispie Drive, Manhattan, KS, with Pastor Brian Smith officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 19th, at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home.

Steven Walter "Steve" Pringle, 65, of Junction City, Kansas died on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan, Kansas.

Steven has been cremated. A graveside service with military honors will take place 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the graveside service for a reception at the American Legion Post #45 in Junction City, Kansas.

Steve was born February 13, 1959, in St. Petersburg, Florida the son of Robert and Shirley Ann (Kukucka) Gustafson. Steven attended the Norwich Free Academy. After attending the academy, Steve served in the United States Army. He served in the Gulf War. He was honorably discharged as an E-5.&nbsp; He owned and operated Master Cut Lawn Care in Junction City for many years. Steve had a servants heart and spent many hours volunteering in the Junction City Community. He was a member of American Legion Post #45 in Junction City and volunteering with the POW-MIA Agency. Steve enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening and spending time outdoors. He also enjoyed spending time with his family. On June 21, 1986, he married Karin M. Mueller in Norwich, Connecticut.

Survivors include his wife Karin of Junction City, Kansas; his father Robert Gusafson and his step-mother Marilyn; one son, Michael A. Mueller and his wife Heather of Junction City, Kansas; one daughter, Nadine Malkmus and husband Telly of Junction City, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Niasha, Alize, Ricky, Katherine, Alyssa, Nicole and Dakota; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, David Pringle and his wife Sylvia and Gary Gustafson and his wife Grace; two sisters, Stacey Gualtieri and husband Michael and Janel Couture and her husband Christopher; step-siblings, Robert Gustafson, Jr. and his wife Beatrice; Debra Taylor, Robert Taylor, Jr. and his wife Kathryn; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Shirley Gustafson.

He was born on September 12, 1947, Stafford, Kansas to John H. and Mary Marie (Mayfield) Booth, Jr.Gary joined the United States Army June 7, 1967, while serving he received the Army Lapel Button, Army Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal (8th Award), NCO Professional Development Ribbon "4", National Defense Service Ribbon, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Expert (Rifle M-16 &amp; Piston Cal. 45) Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal w/4 Bronze Stars, he retired May 31, 1990. Following his military career, he drove nationally for Schneider Trucking Service, Gary then worked for Civil Service for many years as a Fiber Optics Installer. He was member of the Church of Christ and served as a Deacon and Elder for the congregation. He enjoyed gardening, working in his shop and tinkering with cars. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. Gary married Barbara (Rasler) June 7, 1969; she preceded him in death November 6, 2017. He later married Betty Erickson, August 31, 2019.

Gary is survived by his wife, Betty, of Kansas City MO; his sons, Christopher (Gennifer) Booth of Junction City, KS, Russty (Nikki) Booth of Manhattan, KS, JD (Heather) Beitzinger of Lee Summit, MO; daughter, Michelle Sumpter of Lee Summit, MO; one brother, Bob (Loretta) Mayfield of Bel Aire, KS; five grandchildren, Taylor Booth, Matthew Sumpter, Peyton Sumpter, Ethan Beitzinger and Avery Beitzinger.He was preceded in death by his parents.

Veteran produce industry journalist Tad Thompson succumbed to pancreatic cancer on April 8, 2024. He died in his hometown of Manhattan, KS.

He is survived by his wife, Debra (Hardin) Thompson, a native of Manhattan, and his children Reece Everett Thompson and daughter-in-law Rajee Kanagavel, who reside in Cairo, Egypt, as well as daughter Claire Thompson, of Miami. He is also survived by his mother, retired Manhattan real estate developer, Rosalie (Germann) Thompson, and his sister, Teresa Dunn, both of St. Louis, MO. He is also survived by his nieces Tiffany Dunn (Brad Funk) and Andrea Dunn (Steve Winterberg).

Preceding Thompson in death were his father, Paul Thompson and Reece and Claire's mother, Glynis J. Bean, who died in Philadelphia after a three-year battle with cancer in Sept. 2004.

Thompson graduated from Kansas State University in Journalism and Mass Communications in 1976 and soon entered the fresh fruit and vegetable specialty, working for The Packer newspaper in Kansas City. He worked widely in that industry until his cancer diagnosis on November 29, 2023. The 47-year career led him to live in metropolitan Philadelphia, New York City, Atlanta, Edgartown, MA, and Sun City West, AZ. Tad and Debbi permanently returned to Manhattan in 2017.

Beyond working across the U.S., his career was highlighted by constant global travels, including repeated work involving produce industry export development in Mexico, Central and South America, and production and exports from Africa, Europe, Israel, Afghanistan and China.

Photography was always a major part of Thompson's professional work and became a volunteer avocation when he returned to Manhattan, as he shot photos for Manhattan Rotary Club, Manhattan Catbackers, KSNT weather, and anyone passing on the street.

The two pillars of Thompson's life were rooted in Tuttle Creek Lake and Kansas State. His Germann grandparents bought their homestead in the Blue River Valley five miles north of Manhattan in 1919. They chose this site because it would eventually be convenient for their children to attend what was then named Kansas State Agricultural College. It happened this ranch site - in the fertile Blue River Valley and the towering, rich Flint Hills above in the 1940s became the first farm located upstream of the U.S. Corps of Engineers' proposed flood control project, Tuttle Creek Dam.

Despite many years of political fighting, the Germanns and their valley neighbors were displaced in 1957. The valley was flooded. In 1959 Paul and Rosalie built a home in their new Terra Heights subdivision. And Rosalie spent the next 35 years developing much of the southwest shores of the lake.

For young Tad the new lake became a summertime dream as sailing and water skiing were key hobbies. In 1969 he had the chance to join a high school rowing program with the K-State crew, which he enjoyed until graduating from K-State.

Also, at K-State, Thompson was a sportswriter and savored the university experience. Thompson notes, "I was a Wildcat for 35 years before I was born. My parents bought season football tickets in the new stadium in 1968 and determinedly attended through thick and thin. The last game that Mom was able to attend was beating number one Oklahoma a few years ago. I finally had to give up on season tickets for the 2024 season. It was a great run. I will truly always be a Wildcat." He continued sailing with his family along the Atlantic Coast, which brought countless exciting, memorable experiences.

The family will greet friends during a visitation from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Saturday April 20, 2024 at the First Presbyterian Church, 801 Leavenworth in Manhattan.

A Celebration of Life Service will follow the visitation at 10:30 a.m. Saturday April 20 at the church. Private inurnment will be held at a later date.

Darlene S. Sweeting, age 67, of Manhattan, passed away April 7, 2024, at her home, peacefully surrounded by family after bravely battling cancer.

She was born August 11, 1956, in Washington, DC, the daughter of William and Marlene (Mills) Sohns.

After graduating from High School, Darlene pursued a career as a bookkeeper, showcasing her meticulous skills and dedication. Her final employment was with Tim’s Backhoe Service, where she contributed her expertise and commitment to her work.

Darlene embodied love and compassion as a devoted wife, nurturing mother, cherished daughter, supportive sister, and loyal friend. She found fulfillment in selflessly giving to others, never seeking anything in return but the joy of making a positive difference in their lives.

Her deepest wish was to enrich the lives of her husband, children, and grandchildren, showering them with love and wisdom. Darlene found immense joy in imparting knowledge and crafting timeless memories, whether through teaching cherished family recipes like her famous meat sauce or upholding beloved holiday traditions. Among all celebrations, Christmas held a special place in her heart. She reveled in the happiness of loved ones unwrapping meticulously chosen gifts, her eyes twinkling with delight. Darlene's love for the holiday season knew no bounds, as she delighted in watching Hallmark Christmas movies and shows, regardless of the time of year.

Darlene cherished tigers and found joy in watching "Days of our Lives" and "General Hospital," as well as in her collection of animal figurines. She was an avid baseball enthusiast, relishing the sport's excitement, and found solace in the pages of Danielle Steele's novels. Yet, above all, her heart belonged to her family. She delighted in attending her children and grandchildren's sporting events, finding immense happiness in their achievements.

On October 8, 1996, in Manhattan, she was married to Don Sweeting. Don survives of Manhattan. Additional survivors include their four children: Dallas Duncan (Sandy) of Raleigh, NC, Kayla Duncan, Kole Duncan (Sheena) and Rachael Wood (Mike) all of Manhattan; one sister Linda Sohns of Riverview, FL; and three grandchildren: Taylor Duncan, Landyn Duncan and Bryson Rester.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Marlene, father, William, twin sister, Denise, and grandson Bryan.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m., April 17, 2024, at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home. In honor of Darlene, please wear something red or colorful as her favorite color was red.

Willis M. "Bill" Watt, 73, of Junction City, Kansas passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Valley View Senior Life Center in Junction City, Kansas.

Willis has been cremated. A celebration of life service will be held at noon, Friday, April 12, 2024 at the Welda Community Center in Welda, Kansas. His cremated remains will be buried at 2 p.m. Friday at the Welda Cemetery.

Willis was born December 20, 1950 in Ottawa, Kansas the son of Gerald O. and Shirley A. (Tush) Watt.Bill graduated from Abilene High School with the class of 1968. He later went to Manhattan Bible College and Kansas State University where he pursued dual degrees. He entered the United States Army and served three years. During his time in the Army, he was a nuclear weapons specialist. After his honorable discharge, he completed his dual degrees and continued with furthering his education receiving a master's degree and doctorate degree. Bill spent his life working as a college educator and administrator serving Kansas State University, Iowa State University, Fort Hays State University, Manhattan Christian College and Methodist University in North Carolina. During his entire time as an educator and administrator, he served as a pastor at multiple churches throughout Kansas, Nebraska and North Carolina. During his time at Fort Hays State University he coached the debate team that won a national title.Bill was an avid Kansas State University fan. He also enjoyed theatre and published poetry. He enjoyed playing racquetball and won several trophies. He also enjoyed Nascar racing.&nbsp; On February 14, 1970 he married Katherine A. Young in Abilene, Kansas.

Survivors include his wife Katherine Watt of Junction City, Kansas; one son, Derek Watt of Milledgeville, Georgia; four grandsons, Chrystopher, Sean, Brendan and Garrett; three brothers, Steve, Kim and Don; two sisters, Cheryl and Annette; foster siblings, Judy and David; many uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and a host of other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his foster parents Dennis and Joy Johnson.

Ricky Dean “Rick” Hammond, Jr, 37, of Clay Center, died on April 6, 2024 at his residence. &nbsp;He was born on August 22, 1986 in Emporia, Kansas, the son of Ricky Dean, Sr. and Marie (Brown) Hammond. &nbsp;

Rick graduated from Olpe High School in 2005. &nbsp;He attended Butler Community College for athletic training, he later attended the National Academy of Railroad Science. &nbsp;He later moved to Manhattan, Kansas and worked in Maintenance for Central Mechanical. &nbsp;In 2012, Rick met the love of his life, Kate Wright and the couple wed on October 10, 2015 and moved to Clay Center in 2016. &nbsp;They welcomed their first son, Finnegan Wayne Hammond on October 11, 2017 and on September 22, 2023, they welcomed their second son, Boone Mason Hammond.

Rick was a man of many talents. &nbsp;He loved to cook (and was even good at it) and did most of the cooking. &nbsp;He enjoyed leather and wood working, making many special projects for his nephews and nieces and he made leather belts for his son, Finn. &nbsp;He had a love for all things outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. &nbsp;He enjoyed golfing with his friends and teaching Finn how to golf.

Rick will be remembered for his beard, big laugh, ability to talk to anyone about anything and overall being a great man. &nbsp;He was willing to help and do anything for anyone. &nbsp;He was a great husband, amazing father, caring son, grandson, brother and a one of a kind friend.

Rick is survived by his wife, Kate Hammond of Clay Center, Kansas; sons, Finnegan Wayne and Boone Mason Hammond, both of Clay Center, Kansas; his parents, Rick and Marie Hammond of Olpe, Kansas; brothers, Aaron (Stephanie) Hammond of Emporia, Kansas and Nathan (Patty) Hammond of Ft. Myers, Florida; grandparents, Leon Brown of Olpe, Kansas and Clyde and Joyce Hammond of Emporia, Kansas; mother in-law, Mary Wright of Morganville, Kansas; brothers in-law, Travis Wright (Jerilyn) of Kearney, Nebraska and Matt Wright of Morganville, Kansas; nephews and nieces, Zoey Lynn Hammond, Emmitt Hammond, William Hammond, Rylan Wright and Braelyn Wright; and many uncles, aunts, cousins and great friends. &nbsp;He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Ida Joy Brown; father in-law, Wayne Wright and sister in-law, Janel Wright.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clay Center, Kansas.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 15, 2024 from 5-7 p.m. at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home in Clay Center, Kansas.

Interment will be in the Morganville Cemetery in Morganville, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Finn and Boone Hammond Educational Fund and can be sent in care of the funeral home.

Josephine Annie "Jo" Sullivan, 93, of Junction City, Kansas died on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Northcare Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Johnson Funeral Home with Pastor Laurie Barnes officiating.&nbsp; The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.Jo was born March 24, 1931, in Fort Dodge, Iowa the daughter of Theodore T. and Carrie J. (Mesicek) Stanek.

The family lived in Iowa and Colorado before moving to Junction City, Kansas. In Junction City, Jo worked for U.S.D #475 and R &amp; R Developers in Junction City, Kansas for many years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was an avid bowler. She enjoyed baking, cooking and watching Food Network.&nbsp; In later life, she enjoyed traveling. She enjoyed visiting Colorado and Oklahoma.

Her family and church family were very important.Survivors include four daughters; Diane Reasoner of Beaconsfield, Iowa, Marie Edgar (David) of Box Elder, South Dakota, Teresa Diamond of Junction City, Kansas and Kelli Bennett of Boone, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Nathan Reasoner, Jeremy Reasoner, Daniel Reasoner, Loren Edgar (Taylor), Katie Smith (Seth), Caley Geiger (Steven), Makayla Sloss (Daniel), Elizabeth Matthies (Ben) and Kathy DeShong (Brad); eleven great-grandchildren, Maliah, Claire and Scarlett Reasoner, Emilia and Lila Smith, Glenn and Gavin Geiger, James Sloss, Emmalynn Matthies, Gracie and Jacob Boone. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son-in-law, John Reasoner.

 </figure>Josephine Annie "Jo" Sullivan, 93, of Junction City, Kansas died on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Northcare Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Johnson Funeral Home with Pastor Laurie Barnes officiating.&nbsp; The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.Jo was born March 24, 1931, in Fort Dodge, Iowa the daughter of Theodore T. and Carrie J. (Mesicek) Stanek.The family lived in Iowa and Colorado before moving to Junction City, Kansas. In Junction City, Jo worked for U.S.D #475 and R &amp; R Developers in Junction City, Kansas for many years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was an avid bowler. She enjoyed baking, cooking and watching Food Network.&nbsp; In later life, she enjoyed traveling. Josephine Annie "Jo" Sullivan

Victor Kay Jones, age 88 of Waterville, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at the Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan.

He was born on September 14, 1935, the son of Earl Oliver and Carrie Arbutus (Parmentier) Jones. &nbsp;He graduated from Frankfort High School in 1953.

On July 18, 1981, he married Janet Belt in the Goddard Methodist Church. &nbsp;She survives of the home.

Vic worked in Blue Rapids as a welder and blacksmith in the early 1950’s. &nbsp;He was an equipment operator during the construction of the Tuttle Creek Dam until the late 1960’s. &nbsp;Vic then worked for the next 20 years at Fort Riley as a welder, eventually retiring as the supervisor over the welding, sheet metal and paint departments in 1987. &nbsp; He farmed from 1988 until 1998 in the Frankfort area. &nbsp;In retirement he always had a project and enjoyed working with his hands and tinkering in the garage.

He shared with his children and grandkids his love of the outdoors and hunting and fishing. &nbsp;He was mechanically gifted and skilled at welding, metal work, carpentry, operating heavy equipment and so much more. &nbsp;He had a true knack for fixing things, and everyone looked forward to his famous peanut brittle at Christmas time.

He is survived by his wife, Jan Jones; six children, Cindy Hynek, Karl Jones (Robin), Vicki Jones, Kurt Jones (Ange), Shawna Froglay (Kyle) and Greg Kaufman; one brother, Ken Jones (Alice); one sister, Leona Nelson; 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Delbert Jones and Robert Jones; two sisters, Melba Horton and Lois Stallard; his son-in-law, Larry Hynek, and his granddaughter, Michelle Hynek.

A viewing is planned from noon to 8:00 pm Monday, April 8, 2024, with visitation being between 5:00 and 7:00 pm at the Christie-Anderes Funeral Home in Waterville.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at New Hope Church in Marysville, with Pastor Brad Wicks officiating. &nbsp;Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Wanda Fowles, 93 died April 4, 2024, in Clay Center, KS. &nbsp;She was born on June 23, 1930, in Clay Center, the daughter of Hartsel and Leota Long. &nbsp;Wanda was raised in Clay Center and was a Class of 1948 graduate from Clay Center High School. &nbsp;Following high school, she attended beauticians’ school. &nbsp;Wanda married Orrin Fowles on June 13, 1948. &nbsp;She owned and operated a beauty salon for many years, owned and operated Jo and Wanda’s Clothing Store and was the owner and broker for Clay Center Real Estate. Orrin preceded her in death on March 12, 2017. &nbsp;Wanda was in the local Aglow Christian organization and loved playing bridge with her friends. &nbsp;She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Duane and Alfred Long and son-in-law, Bill Cranmer.
