Barbara Fuller, age 81, of Manhattan, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Meadowlark Hills. She was born on February 1, 1944, in Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of Warren and Luvenia Hawkins.

Barbara was a proud resident of Kentucky for many years before moving to Nebraska, then returning to Kentucky, and ultimately settling in Manhattan, Kansas, to live with her son and his husband. While home was in many places, she would never let you forget her southern charm. The way she said, “hey baby,” in a slight, sweet, southern accent, told you all you needed to know about her. She would never leave the house without a spray of her perfume.

She never met a stranger. Barbara made friends wherever she went. Going to the grocery store could take hours because she would talk to everyone; she loved hearing people’s stories. There are too many people to list who considered her mom, though she only had one child of her own, whom she loved very much.

Barbara worked in various jobs throughout her life, including a real estate agent, an elementary school and special education teacher’s aide, and a hotel front desk manager. None of those jobs defined who she was or what she cared about. She worked when she had to, to support what she loved, her family, and her church.

Her second husband, Junior Leroy Epping, passed away in 1991, leaving her to raise a child by herself. She did what she had to, and at 54 years old, she graduated from college with an associate's degree in accounting and business management to be able to support her family.

Barbara loved to read; her Steven King collection was astounding. Gospel music filled her home. She loved to embroider until her hands would no longer let her.

She was warm, kind, a little sassy, and lived an unapologetic life. Barbara was a devout woman of God. The last part of her life was full of chronic pain. Now she is home with the Lord and her one true love, and pain-free.

Barbara is survived by her son, Darren (Israel) Epping-Fuentes; two sisters, Robin (Phillip) Crump and Betty (Tracy) Nieser; her brother Raymond (Bonnie) Hawkins; and many nieces and nephews.

Alan was born in Berlin, Wisconsin on July 8, 1960 the son of Wayne and Emily (Mullenix) Kracht.

Alan graduated from Hortonville High School Class of 1979. He enlisted in the Army in Feb of 1982.

Alan completed 20 years of Military Service. He was a Gulf War Veteran and Desert Storm Veteran. During his military deployment to Korea, he met is wife Cho Sun OK. They were married on August 5, 1985 in Seoul, South Korea.

Alan worked as a civilian contractor on Ft. Riley as a Heavy Equipment Lead and Mechanic from 1995 to 2023. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He treasured being out in nature. He enjoyed fishing for Walleye. He was a skillfull Bow Hunter and loved bird hunting with his dogs. He was a huge fan of the Green Bay Packers and after further review the Bears still Suck!

He is survived by his wife of 39 years Sun OK Kracht of Junction City, Kansas; Sister Renee (Robert) Running of New London, Wisconsin; Niece Gabby Paul of Green Bay, Wisconsin.

He was preceded in death by his sister Cheryl Kracht and his parents Wayne and Emily Kracht.

&nbsp; JoAnn Vargo, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, of Junction City, Kansas, passed away at home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 70.&nbsp;JoAnn was born in Buffalo, New York, and grew up in the small town of Elma, where she developed a lifelong love of books, history, and learning. She had a deep appreciation for the stories of American pioneers and could often be found reading about their lives or studying old photographs and letters, especially those written by her cherished mother, Norma.

In 1995, JoAnn made her home in Kansas, where she continued to nurture her passions for coffee, crossword puzzles, and good conversation. She found joy in the simple things—quiet mornings with a book, a fresh cup of coffee, and moments spent with her loved ones.

JoAnn was married to her husband, John “Jack” Vargo, whom she built a life with in Junction City, Kansas. She was the proud mother of two children: Joe Vargo of Junction City, Kansas, and Susan Sterling (Travis Wood) of Wichita, Kansas. Her granddaughter, Cece, brought her immense joy, and JoAnn treasured every moment spent with her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Norma and Erwin Moessinger, and her sister, Linda Kerr. She is survived by her sister, Susie (Ray) Anderson of New York; her niece, Jen (Jason) Ekberg; her nephew, Jeff (Amanda) Anderson; and many friends who will miss her thoughtful and humorous personality.J

Gerald Duaine Gaston (nee Jerry), 86, a faithful servant, entered the presence of the Lord peacefully at his home surrounded by family on February 10, 2025, in Howell, Michigan.

Jerry was born on October 27, 1938, the fifth child of Warren and Emily (Starling) Gaston in Junction City, Kansas. He is preceded in death by his siblings Marjorie, Dorothy, Patricia, and Stephenae and is survived by his older brother Warren. After graduating from Junction City High School, he enlisted in the Kansas Army National Guard with his close childhood friends in 1957 and briefly attended Kansas State University.

He married his sweetheart, Jayna Sue Gaston (Gastineau) of Topeka, Kansas, on November 4, 1961. He then moved to Topeka, Kansas, to begin his family and lifelong career in retail management.

One of Jerry’s greatest joys, and he believed his greatest legacy from this life was his deep love for his wife and the family they created together. He was especially proud of his children and grandchildren and their families. He is survived by his loving wife Jayna married for 63 years; his children, JuliAnn Mazachek (husband Keith), Janelle Beutler (husband Joel), Joel Gaston (wife Vicki), and Jeryn Palenske (husband Tom); his 11 grandchildren and their families, Ashley Gaston Harrold (Brian), Roxann Beutler Childers (Brandon), Kaetlynn Palenske Phillips (Austin), Garrett Mazachek (Juliana), Clayton Gaston, Kara Mazachek Cade (Rowan), Christian Palenske (Rebecca), Stephanie Mazachek Kupchin (Kyle), Cathryn Palenske Wieck (Derek), Andrew Beutler (Nicole), Ellis Beutler (Brianna); his twelve great grandchildren with more little ones to be joining the family soon; and many nieces and nephews.

Jerry made a meaningful difference through his diligent and dedicated work. He began his retail career at JCPenney in downtown Topeka, KS before moving to the brand-new White Lakes Mall store. He later transferred to Leavenworth, then Kansas City and then began a career with Venture Stores in the early 1970’s moving to Florissant, MO where he and Jayna raised their children. In 1984, he returned to Topeka to open the new Venture store in Fairlawn Mall and to help take care of his mom Emily in Junction City and Jayna’s mom Anna in Topeka. Jerry loved serving his customers and creating the best shopping experience possible, but he is remembered for the kind way he treated people and treasured his team members. He genuinely cared about his team and their families. He treated others with respect and with honesty. Upon his retirement, he devoted his retail expertise to serving others through his part-time work at Doorstep’s Thrift Shop and the Topeka Zoo Gift Shop.

Jerry’s deep faith and deep-seated devotion to serving his church during his retirement years kept him active. He pursued study to become a Deacon in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and served Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Topeka. He also was the president of the congregation, the church facility manager, and the head of the trustees.

A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends on August 9, 2025, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 3625 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka, Kansas, beginning at 12:30 pm. The family will receive friends at the church at 11:00 am and until the time of service. Interment will occur at a private service for family immediately following the Celebration of Life service at Highland Cemetery in Wakefield, Kansas.

In honor of Gerald Gaston, a memorial has been established.

Rebecca (Becki) Sue Small passed away peacefully in her home in Junction City, KS on July 3rd, 2025&nbsp;

Born on January 28th, 1956 in Junction City, Kansas, where she also spent her childhood to early adulthood raised by Dona and Herbert Small. She graduated from Saint Xavier Catholic School in 1974 and began her career in Banking. In 1978 she had her only child, a son,&nbsp; Anthony Michael Small. Rebecca married Louis (Duke) Leone on November 29th, 1985. She moved her family to Las Vegas, NV, where they lived for 20 years before moving back to Junction City, KS in 2004. Rebecca retired in 2023 as Sr. Mortgage Underwriter and was highly respected by her piers and colleagues.&nbsp; She was known as one of the best teachers of mortgage lending in the industry.

Rebecca loved being out in the sun by the pool getting a tan. She enjoyed dancing along to her favorite music, and most of all, cherished the time spent with her family. In her retirement she became an avid gardener and spent many hours tending to all her beautiful plants.&nbsp;

Rebecca is survived by her father, Herbert (Herb) Eugene Small, Junction City; brother, John Robert (Bob) Small and his wife Lynnette (Lynn) Small, Junction City; daughter-in-law Patricia Pratzel, Junction City; two grandchildren, Jasmine Pratzel and Anthony (A.J.)&nbsp; Michael Small Jr.; niece, Christina Swisher; nephew, Jacob (Jake) Small; Grand-nieces, Chyla Swisher and Addison Small. She also has numerous family and close friends, too many to mention.

&nbsp;Raymond Eugene Gould passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 4, 2025, in Edmond, Oklahoma, at the age of 78. A proud veteran, a hard worker, a loving father, and a devoted grandfather, Raymond lived a life defined by strength, perseverance, and deep love for his family.

Born on January 25, 1947, in Ava, Missouri, Raymond’s early years shaped the resilient and grounded man he would become. He served his country in the United States Army with pride, and after his military service, continued a life of hard work and grit—laboring on offshore oil rigs and later founding and operating his own concrete construction company. He took pride in building things that lasted, both with his hands and through the legacy he left in the lives of those he touched.

Raymond was a man who laughed often and loved a good joke. With a quick wit and a mischievous grin, he had a gift for making others laugh—even in hard times. His sense of humor brought light to those around him and created countless memories filled with joy, teasing, and the kind of laughter that stays in your heart.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beatrice Maurine Gould, in 2023, and by his cherished son, Brian Eugene Gould, in 2021. Though life brought him great loss, he remained steady and caring, holding his family close in both memory and presence.

He is survived by his daughters, Charlette Ray Whitley and Brenda Jean Whitebread; his treasured granddaughters, Claira Jean Whitebread and Sadie Jean Whitebread; and his sisters, Beth Tabler and Shirley Reeds. Each of them carries forward the spirit, stories, and wonderful sense of humor of the man who meant so much to them.

Raymond’s greatest joy in his later years was being “Grandpa”—a title he wore with love and pride. Whether laughing with Claira and Sadie, sharing stories from his rugged past, or simply being present, he found deep meaning in his role as a grandfather.

Raymond will be cremated in accordance with his wishes, and his ashes will be laid to rest alongside his wife and son in Junction City, Kansas—a place he always held close to his heart.

A graveside memorial honoring his life, legacy, and quiet strength will be held by his family on&nbsp;Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 10:30 a.m.&nbsp;at Highland Cemetery.

A native of Altus, Oklahoma, who spent her initial childhood years in Quanah, Texas, Rebecca Jon Diltz was the daughter of Johnnie and Evah Jo Diltz. Two years older than her brother Jack, Rebecca from an early age demonstrated a God-given—and remarkably enormous—capacity to care and serve for others, often cooking meals in a family that was running two small businesses. For the rest of her earthly life, this capacity would remain a hallmark, reputation, and legacy of Rebecca; her thoughtful, unconditional, gift-giving love impacted many lives.

One of the beneficiaries of her devotion and love is, of course, her husband Curtis Kastner. As a sophomore, Rebecca met Curtis in Spanish class at Altus High School, and the two lovebirds would spend the remainder of high school and college exchanging handwritten love letters. This ability—to author thoughtful notes—was an inspired, spiritual gift that over the decades has appeared on innumerable cards, sticky notes, inside front-covers of books, and backs of portraits.

Both Oklahoma State University graduates, Rebecca and Curtis married on August 6, 1966, and spent the first few years of marriage in Stillwater and Perry, Oklahoma (where Rebecca taught third and fourth grade as well as Head Start); Petersburg, Virginia (where Curtis was briefly stationed); and then Pullman, Washington (1971-75). In Pullman, they became parents of two sons Jason and Justin, who they raised in Manhattan and who—along with their wives Marti and Susie and (grand) children Ellie, Josie, Ian, and Sally—have reaped the benefits of Rebecca’s prayers, wisdom, unconditional love, and abiding presence.

A godly woman who looked to the Bible for strength and comfort, Rebecca was a cornerstone member of the Manhattan Church of Christ. In addition to loads of teaching and ministry involvement, she superintended, organized, and “made happen” hundreds of wedding and baby showers over a life of Christian service. Yet Rebecca’s reputation as a Christian was not confined to the congregation at 2510 Dickens Avenue, for she was a blessing throughout her community. The word “blessing” cannot begin to fully encapsulate the degree of meaning she has had in so many people’s lives.

Her grandchildren, who knew her well, are grateful for a role model and comforting inspiration for how to live one’s life and someone who is the embodiment of compassion and purpose. They celebrate the life of a strong yet tenderhearted lady, a warmhearted grandmother who was always bringing others together, and an example of how to be generous without hesitation. Thoughtfully devoted and loving to each person in a unique way, she could point out every person in a photo album and tell a story for each of them! With every letter or gift she gave, she included pictures with notes inscribed on the back, detailing the importance of the memory. To know Gran was to love her, and to want to do good like her! She was, at once, confident and resilient and sassy and hilarious. A truly beautiful gift from God!

As both a gift-giver and a gift herself, it was fitting that she forged some of her deepest friendships at the Country Gift Shop, where she got to “play” at “work!” Mom was rich in friendship, truly. During the final years of her earthly life, the rooms at Good Shepherd Hospice and, most recently, Foundation Park were consistently trafficked by long-time friends who came to honor her.

Rebecca’s closing moments in life involved holding hands with Curtis, the love of her life for the last six decades. Stephanie C. Upson passed away peacefully in her residence at Meadowlark Hills, Manhattan, KS, on June 30, 2025.

Born in Henderson, TX, Stephanie spent her early childhood in Texas and Houma, LA, before moving with her family to Pretty Prairie, KS. Stephanie was the first member of her family to attend college, graduating in 1955 from Kansas State University where she was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority. After graduation, she taught kindergarten in San Diego, CA, before marrying Dan and moving to Manhattan. Stephanie cherished her large and extended family in Texas, delighting in annual family reunions full of music and laughter. She and Dan enjoyed traveling, their large circle of friends, K-State athletics, boating at Tuttle Creek every summer, spending time picnicking in the country, and playing tennis. Stephanie was an avid reader and movie aficionado. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the local PEO chapter. Most of all, Stephanie was extremely proud of her three children and four grandchildren. Her greatest joy was sharing in their lives and celebrating them and their accomplishments.

Stephanie is survived by her brother, Roy (Sheryl Ballard) Clayton, Manhattan; daughter Connie (Tom) Johnson, Calistoga, CA; son Ron (Jonna) Upson, Taylorsville, KY; daughter Elizabeth (Ed) Wells, Lebanon, OH; four grandchildren, Sabrina Johnson, Alexis (William) Johnson Brown, Jacob Wourms, Joe Wourms; nephew Bryan (Kristy) Clayton and great-nephews Haiden Clayton, Brady Clayton, and great-niece Scarlett Clayton, as well as several cousins.

Mark Daniel Brenner entered eternity in the early hours of Monday, June 30th, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Mark was born on September 29, 1961, in Junction City, Kansas, the youngest to Myron Brenner and Debbie Congrove born to Verland and Tena Brenner. From an early age, he had a deep love for cars, a passion that stayed with him throughout his teenage and adult years. Whether working on them, talking about them, or simply admiring them, cars were a lifelong joy and creative outlet.

Mark will be remembered for his selfless, outgoing, funny, and kind-hearted nature. He brought light to every room and always had a story to tell, a joke to share, or a thoughtful idea to offer. His humor, straightforward nature, and creativity made him unforgettable.

Mark cared for his wife and family; he often remarked that being a father was one of the greatest joys of his life. He welcomed Blake and Brien into his life with open arms and poured his heart into raising all four of his children—Blake, Brien, Bradlee, and Baileigh. Mark was a devoted father who would do anything for his kids and took pride in being their father.

In January 2024, Mark was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. He faced the diagnosis with courage, strength, and grace, displaying resilience and determination, right up to the end.

Mark is survived by his sons, Blake and Bradlee Brenner, his daughter, Baileigh Brenner and his granddaughter Beatrice Brenner. He joins his beloved son Brien, his parents, and many other loved ones in heaven. His family will miss everything about him, his many stories, his silly jokes, his creative mind and his joyful spirit.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at First Assembly of God, located at 2310 Candlewood Dr., Manhattan, KS 66503, the visitation/viewing: will be at 9:00 – 10:00 AM the Funeral Service will follow at 10:00 AM. Donna Joy Jones Blaske, 75, a beloved mother, sister, teacher, and mentor, passed away on June 28, 2025. Donna was born August 19, 1949 in Marysville to Donald Jones and Caryl Weaver-Jones. She grew up on family farms near Frankfort and Beattie.

As a young child, her family spent precious time with aunts, uncles and cousins. She went on trips with her Jones grandparents which transitioned into her taking trips with her own grandchildren.

Donna attended school in Frankfort, Axtell and Marysville, graduating from KSU in elementary education and a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction. She was a teacher for 41 years.

On August 24, 1969, she married Mike Blaske and were blessed with a son, Brett Elmer and Katie Joy Blaske Tadtman, (Justin) of Clay Center, parents of Colten, Aubrey and Claire, and Dr. Whitney Joy Blaske Hood, (Demonte), parents of Bricen, Amyah and Titus of Joshua, TX. Mike and Donna divorced in 2008. Donna is proceeded in death by infant grandson Jeret Tadtman and her parents.

She enjoyed attending family sporting and school events, and trips in the grandma van on yearly parent-free vacations to Colorado.

Brandy Nicole Casey, 46, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 27, 2025, at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, Kansas. She was born on April 27, 1979, in Manhattan, Kansas, to Cheryl “Sherri” Helzer and Dale Thibodeau.

Brandy was a strong and compassionate woman, often turning close friends into family. Even during times of illness, her focus remained on making sure others were cared for and supported. She always found a way to make life’s challenges manageable. She cherished spending time with her children, family, and those she held dear. Whether shopping, exploring new places, or simply sharing a moment together, Brandy found joy in the company of loved ones and in creating lasting memories.

Brandy is survived by her step-father, Jeff Helzer of Newton, KS; her children, Benjamin Casey and Raevyn Sanders of Manhattan, KS; her foster daughter, Anna Benson; brothers, Dallas Helzer of Krakow, Poland, and Anthony Helzer of Newton, KS; sister Virginia Helzer of Newton, KS; her treasured friends, Amber, Jami and Owen; and her beloved dogs, Kapone and Baby.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Sherri Helzer, and grandparents Kenneth and Margaret Casey.

She was born in Hays, Ks, to Sylvester and Evelyn (Marquardt) Schmidt on February 7, 1954. Mary was the sixth child of twelve born to Sylvester and Evelyn. Mary was a cheerleader while attending St. Bernard’s Catholic School until 8th grade and a member of the Wamego High School Class of 1972.

Mary enjoyed watching the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas Jayhawks and Kansas State Wildcats. She enjoyed dancing and music and one of her all-time favorite songs was Woolly Bully. Her brother David remembers Mary being very competitive at playing Jacks. As she ran, she would snap her fingers, so naturally she was teased by her brothers. There’s even a story of Mary being chased by a rooster that still brings great laughter. She could “run like a deer” on our gravel driveway while being barefoot! Mary had a very giving nature, always sending cards and made sure our family’s graves had flowers on them.

Mary was preceded in death by her father Sylvester (1990), mother Evelyn (2009), three brothers, Jimmy (1949), Mike (2009) and Stan (2015), brother-in-law John Richardson (2008), sister-in-law Marti Schmidt (2020), her father’s three siblings and six of her mother’s siblings.

Mary is survived by her daughter Sara (Christopher) Wooddell, Lawrenceburg, In, and her beloved grandson Dallas Wooddell, Lawrenceburg, In. Bradley L. Budden, 75, of Abilene, Kansas, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025, in the company of loved ones.

Born on December 3, 1949, in Clay Center, Kansas, Brad was the son of Florence Fyfe and Lyman Budden. He grew up in the surrounding area, but it was in Abilene where he truly put down roots and made his home. A 1967 graduate of Abilene High School, Brad went on to serve his country in the National Guard during the Vietnam War era.

Brad began his professional life with KP&amp;L, but soon pivoted to a long tenured career with Southwestern Bell Telephone, where he worked as a lineman, splicer, and installation and repair technician. He continued this work through the transition to AT&amp;T, ultimately retiring after a long and dedicated career. Never one to sit still, Brad later worked for Horizon Farm &amp; Ranch Realty, continuing to lend his expertise and work ethic well into his later years.

Brad was known for his hard work, his ornery nature, a sarcastic sense of humor, and his deep love of horses and team roping. He shared his passion for horses with his children and his many roping partners across the decades. His breadth of knowledge and experience in equine husbandry was truly expansive, and should be the benchmark of dedication for all who have a passion. He was a genuine cowboy to the core, and none did it better. Though above all, he was fiercely devoted to his children—always their biggest supporter and advocate.

He is survived by his children (and their spouses): Rachelle Swearingen (Ray), Sara Meng (Justin), and Theodore Budden (Emily); his grandchildren: Samantha and Grant Swearingen, Claire, Claudia, and Caroline Meng, Benjamin and Rosie Budden; and one great-grandchild, Walker.

Brad also leaves behind two half-siblings, Kelly and Tim Budden; and many extended family members and friends who will remember him with love.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Florence Fyfe and Lyman Budden, as well as his brothers, Arden and Gailen Budden.

A memorial service will be held at Community Bible Church in Abilene at 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 12th. Burial will follow at Rose Meron Cemetery. Waltraud “Wally” Madacs, 85, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2025. Wally was born May 14, 1940 in Obeuenbach, West Germany to Walter and Klane Karl, and immigrated to the United States in 1972, then settled in Abilene In 1973.

Wally was the lead at Tony’s and worked for SRS as a Home Health Aid. In 1996 she became the co-founder of Wally’s Home Health, Family Care Home and Whispering Timbers of Solomon.

Wally retired in 2010, She loved to garden and travel and was an active Christian all her life. She was preceded in death by her husband Kalman Madacs; sons, Thomas Madacs and Marcus Madacs, son-in-law Douglas Londeen; and a brother-in-law Heinrich Gries.

Wally is survived by daughter Birgitte Mager, grandson Michael Mager, and great grandsons, Michael and Noah and Friend Alex Lee; daughter-in-law Amy Madacs, grandchildren, Alex and Benjamin Madacs and Rachel Madacs Johnson; and great-grandchildren , Olivia, Felix, Gracey, Gellamy and Soldier Madacs. Other survivors include her sister, Tonie Gries of Germany, sister-in-law Rita Karl of Germany.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday July 9, 2025 at the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home. Her final resting place will be in the Prairie Mound Cemetery near Solomon.

Harold “Wayne” Strong, age 87, of Abilene, Kansas, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2025. He was born on October 12, 1937 in O’Neill, Nebraska. Wayne lived a full life defined by passion, service, and deep devotion to his family and community.

Wayne served in the United States Air Force beginning in 1955. During his four years of service, he was honored to serve as an honor guard for President Dwight D. Eisenhower during a base visit in Arizona. While in the Air Force, Wayne also played on the travel basketball team and worked as a lifeguard—where he fatefully met the love of his life, Janet.

Following his military service, Wayne discovered his lifelong passion in the world of greyhound racing. With pride and dedication, he raised numerous champion greyhounds, earning multiple placements in the Greyhound Hall of Fame—including his own. His contributions to the sport were profound: he played an instrumental role in the establishment of pari-mutuel gaming in Kansas and was a pioneering advocate for artificial insemination in greyhound breeding.

Wayne’s hobbies included gambling, golfing, watching all sports—especially Nebraska football—and, most of all, supporting his children and grandchildren in everything they did. Whether he was poolside swimming laps, in the kitchen making fresh-squeezed orange juice, or at the table teaching a lesson in life and cards, Wayne had a way of making moments unforgettable.

Wayne is survived by his beloved wife, Janet Strong, and six children Teressa Kohman (Kurt) of Solomon, KS, Natalie Dick of Solomon, KS, Greg Strong (Louise) of Wheeling, WV, David Strong (Marcy) of Solomon, KS, Gina Dalton (Kevin) of Abilene, KS, Kim Rolfs (Trevor) of Little River, KS. He is also survived by his brother, Terry Strong (Pat) of Florida, 18 grandchildren, and 37 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Norma Strong, and his sisters, Janet (Steve) Stevens, Glenna Loi, and nephew Brian Stephens.

Robert L. Emig, 87 of Abilene passed away Monday, June 23, 2025. He was born in Carlton, Kansas April 6, 1938 the son of Harold Leroy and Edna Mae (Felbush) Emig. He grew up in the Carlton area graduated from Dickinson County Community High School, Chapman with the class of 1956. 

On April 6, 1958 he was united in marriage to Shirley Bauman at the New Basel Church, south of Abilene. Robert retired from ADM Alliance Nutrition after 35 years. Robert is survived by his loving wife Shirley Emig. Two daughters: Vicky Emig and Wendy Garrison and husband Ron. One son: Gary Emig. Six grandchildren: Melissa Hocker; Rachel Hocker; Shannon Young; Michelle Young; Connor Garrison; Maura Garrison. Three brothers: Phil, Keith and Elon Emig. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Don and Harold Emig. 

The family has chosen cremation. No services are planned at this time. The family suggests memorials be given to the Parkinson’s Foundation. Cody Michael VarVais was born on May 4, 1999, in Sioux City, Iowa.

He was the second child born to Shiloh and Thomas VarVais.

He attended Chapman High School, where he graduated in 2017. He continued his technical certifications as he began working as a diesel technician.

In 2022, he married JaelAnn Hoover. He was an active member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks and Elks Riders of Junction City.

He was a devoted husband, son, and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, traveling on his motorcycle, being outdoors, and being the life of the party.

Cody was called to eternal rest on June 27, 2025. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Jerry was born July 24, 1951, in Allentown, Pennsylvania the son of Franklin and Rachel (Ruppert) Kratzer.

Jerry owned and operated his own trucking company for many years. He was part of the Caterpillar Million Miler Club and put 2.6 million miles on his Peterbilt. His first truck was a 1979 Marmon cabover truck. Over the years, Jerry was well known for his distinctive truck and is featured in a book. He was a member of the Pike Township Sportsman's Association in Pennsylvania. He enjoyed collecting guns. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.&nbsp;

Jerry enjoyed playing the guitar and was proud of his early sixties custom made hollow body Gibson electric guitar.&nbsp;

On August 14, 1971, he married Diane Freese in Topton, Pennsylvania. She passed away March 19, 2022.

Survivors include one son, Jeffrey Kratzer and his wife Mary of Dwight, Kanas; one daughter, Brenda A. Dulaney and husband Jonathan of Junction City, Kansas; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Marion Bauer of Maryland.

Jacqueline N. "Jacque" Bissonnette, 40, of Junction City, Kansas passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at The University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas.

Cremation will take place. A celebration of life service will be announced at a later date.

Jacque was born August 21, 1984 in Russell, Kansas the daughter of Leo Denio.

Jacque had a passion with the banking industry. She worked as a branch manager at Sunflower Bank in Junction City, Kansas. Halloween was her favorite holiday. She spent many years volunteering at Zombie Toxin Haunted House in Junction City, Kansas where she met her haunt mom and dad Rob and Jean Blanken.

On July 7, 2007, she married Joseph Bissonnette in Junction City, Kansas.

Survivors include her husband Joseph of Junction City, Kansas; two daughters, Desirae Bissonnette and Theresa Bissonnette both of Junction City, Kansas; four brothers, Kenny Stroede of Holyrood, Kansas, Danny Denio of Springville, Utah, Cody Denio of McPherson, Kansas and Shawn Denio of Wakefield, Kansas; two sisters, Michelle Leonard of Manhattan, Kansas and Braylynn Denio of Junction City, Kansas; her fur babies, Hercules and Buddy. A host of many nieces and nephews, as well as numerous other friends and family will miss her dearly.

Jacqueline N. "Jacque" Bissonnette, 40, of Junction City, Kansas passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at The University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas.Cremation will take place. A celebration of life service will be announced at a later date.Jacque was born August 21, 1984 in Russell, Kansas the daughter of Leo Denio.Jacque had a passion with the banking industry. She worked as a branch manager at Sunflower Bank in Junction City, Kansas. Halloween was her favorite holiday. She spent many years volunteering at Zombie Toxin Haunted House in Junction City, Kansas where she met her haunt mom and dad Rob and Jean Blanken.On July 7, 2007, she married Joseph Bissonnette in Junction City, Kansas.Survivors include her husband Joseph of Junction City, Kansas; two daughters, Desirae Bissonnette and Theresa Bissonnette both of Junction City, Kansas; four brothers, Kenny Stroede of Holyrood, Kansas, Danny Denio of Springville, Utah, Cody Denio of McPherson, Kansas and Shawn Denio of Wakefield, Kansas; two sisters, Michelle Leonard of Manhattan, Kansas and Braylynn Denio of Junction City, Kansas; her fur babies, Hercules and Buddy. Betsey L. Printy, 85, of Junction City, Kansas passed away on June 30, 2025. She was born on December 6, 1939 at Ft. Riley, Kansas to James and Rachel (Dalquest) Bundy. She was the youngest of six children.

She graduated from Junction City High school and then worked at the courthouse. Most of her career, and just short of 50 years, she worked for the Brown family (Lowell, Earl and Jay) managing their office, selling insurance, real estate and auctions.

She enjoyed planning parties and having family and friends around. The best time of the year was spring when she could shop for flowers and start working in the yard. She also enjoyed traveling around the United States visting family and friends and even attending NHRA Drag Racing events.

She was preceded in death by her Mother and Father, Rachel and James. Also her siblings, Mary Ann (Grant), James J (Bundy), Carl D (Bundy), Helen (Bundy) and Jerry (Bundy)

She leaves behind her son, Van Printy, Junction City, Kansas.

Richard W. Kesselring, 92, of Wakefield, Kansas passed away on July 2, 2025 at Wakefield Care and Rehab. Cremation will take place with a private family inurnment to follow at a later date.

He was born on May 20, 1933, O Brien County, Iowa to C.Wayne and Edythe (Trotter) Kesselring.

Richard was honorably discharged from the United States Army. He was a member of the VFW Philip Billard Post #1650 in Topeka, Kansas. He was an avid motorcyclist owning many Indian motorcycles throughout his life.

Richard is survived by his sister Mary A. Allen of Wakefield, KS; Daughter, Debra Kesselring; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Isabel Ann Winterman, 93, of rural Westmoreland, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at Stormont -Vail Health Center in Topeka.&nbsp; She was a life-long resident of the community.

&nbsp; Isabel was born on November 4, 1931, in rural Flush, the daughter of Lawrence John and Barbara (Rebitzer) Umscheid. She attended local grade school and graduated from Flush High School.&nbsp;

&nbsp; Isabel worked as a beautician in her own home shop for several years before working as the head cook at Sale Barn Cafe and then worked in the kitchen for the St. George Elementary School until her retirement.&nbsp; She found joy in mowing and tending to her yard.&nbsp; Isabel was a seamstress and in her earlier years made most of her own clothing.&nbsp; She was known for being able to accomplish anything that she set her mind too.&nbsp; Isabel also enjoyed playing cards, board games and jigsaw puzzles.&nbsp; She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church at Flush.

&nbsp; Isabel married Henry B. Winterman on November 11, 1951, at Flush.&nbsp; For forty-five years they lived their lives together until his death on April 3, 1997.

&nbsp; Isabel is survived by her son, Arthur Winterman (Anna) of Westmoreland; her grandchildren, Aaron Winterman, Westmoreland and Jessica Cleavenger (Karl), Leavenworth; two great-grandchildren, Eli and Lucas Cleavenger; and her sister, Genny Diederich, Wamego.

Isabel was preceded in death by her parents and her four sisters; Irene Mills, Helen Brazzle, Angie Brazzle and Betty J. Duncan; and six brothers, Wayne Umscheid, Don Umscheid, Lawrence Umscheid, Jr., Cletus Umscheid, Carl Umscheid, and Miney Umscheid.
