Virginia ( Adams ) Morris

Virginia Morris, age 76, of Manhattan, passed away Wednesday August 6, 2025, at the Stoneybrook Retirement Community in Manhattan.

She was born on July 28, 1949, in Manhattan, the daughter of Virgil H. and Winifred Alice (Hahn) Adams. Virigina grew up in Manhattan, attending local grade schools and graduated from Manhattan High School with the class of 1967. She then attended Kansas State and later Manhattan Technical College.

On November 17, 1973, in Manhattan, she was united in marriage to James Morris Sr. He preceded her in death October 11, 2014.

Virginia worked for many years as a licensed nurse (LPN) for local nursing homes and at the Irwin Army Hospital at Fort Riley. She was a hardworking and caring person. Viriginia was a caring person. Her family knew how much she loved them, and she made sure to be there for them as often as she could and help in any way.

When she was younger, she enjoyed trips with her family. For many years she would be with her kids and family at the lake enjoying the peaceful time out in nature. She was a member of the Shawnee County Allied Tribes in Kansas. She was proud of her Native American heritage and always was ready to be part of the pow-wow celebrations.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Manhattan.

Virginia is survived by her sons, James Morris Jr (Angie) and Adam Morris; also, her grandchildren Allison Mason and Britanny Mason, and her many other family and friends who will miss her.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00p.m. Friday August 29, 2025, at the Walnut Hill Cemetery north of Silver Lake, Kansas.

The Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas 66502, is assisting the family with the services.
