Manhattan Boys win 6A State Track & Field Championship, Girls 9th

WICHITA, Kan. — Weather delayed the start of the Class 5 and 6A State Track and Field Championships from Cessna Stadium yesterday, leading to a late night of event results.

Following the final event, the point totals were added together, and the Manhattan High School boys were victorious. 

Impressive showings from a variety of Indian athletes lead to 66.5 points for the team, 12.5 points ahead of the runner-up, Blue Valley High School. 

The Manhattan High School girls team also notched a top-10 finish, placing 9th overall with 26 points. The Girls 6A Champion, Olathe North, tallied 87.33 points, 14 ahead of the runner-up. 

Junction City High School saw its boys program finish 22nd, and its girls 25th in the state meet.
