MANHATTAN, Kansas –&nbsp;The&nbsp;K-State women’s basketball schedule for this weekend has been adjusted, as Sunday’s game against UT Arlington has been canceled due to a pause in activities for the UT Arlington program.

To replace the game, K-State has added Central Arkansas in Conway, Arkansas, on Saturday at 2 p.m. This will be the third meeting in the series between K-State and Central Arkansas and the first meeting for the Wildcats and Sugar Bears in Conway.

With the cancellation of Sunday’s game, K-State’s next home game will be on Tuesday, December 8 against Idaho State at 1 p.m. Tuesday’s game will be limited to 15% capacity. A limited number of single-game tickets are available by calling (800) 221-CATS or online at kstatesports.com,

K-State WBB Schedule Adjusted for This Weekend

Times are set for K-State' first two Big 12 games

MANHATTAN, Kan. — Kansas State Head Coach Chris Klieman and select student-athletes spoke to the media Tuesday ahead of K-State's season finale against Texas.&nbsp;

The Wildcats are coming off a heart-breaking 32-31 loss at Baylor on Saturday, falling on a field goal as time expired. The loss was the fourth-straight for the Wildcats since their 55-14 victory over Kansas back on October 24th.&nbsp;

Kansas State will play their final home game of an altered 2020 schedule on Saturday when they host the Texas Longhorns on Senior Day. The game will kickoff at 11 a.m. from Bill Snyder Family Stadium in Manhattan.

K-State Football speaks to media ahead of Senior Day

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Royals agreed to a two-year deal with pitcher Mike Minor and finalized a $1.75 million, one-year contract with outfielder Michael Taylor as they piece together a roster in their rebuilding effort.

The deal with the 32-year-old Minor was reached late Sunday and requires him to pass a physical before it can be completed.

Taylor signed his $1.75 million contract Monday and it includes up to $1 million in incentives.

The capacity restriction will enable all men’s and women’s season ticket holders to attend the remaining games on the home schedule beginning with the women’s game Thursday against Kentucky and the men’s game Saturday night against UNLV. No single-game tickets will be available for men’s games, while a limited number of individual-game tickets will go on sale for women’s games two days in advance of a contest at 1-800-221-CATS or&nbsp;<a href="http://www.kstatesports.com/" target="_blank">www.kstatesports.com</a>.

The 15 percent restriction only affects indoor events at Bramlage Coliseum and does not include Saturday’s home football game with Texas, which will still operate at 25 percent capacity in Bill Snyder Family Stadium.

K-State will continue to work closely with the Riley County Health Department in monitoring COVID-related cases in our community.

MANHATTAN, Kan.&nbsp;–&nbsp;<a>The Big 12 Conference and FOX Sports announced Sunday night that Kansas State’s regular-season finale against Texas on Saturday, December 5 will kick off at 11 a.m. inside Bill Snyder Family Stadium and be televised by FOX.</a>

It will be the third time this year the Wildcats will play in the early FOX window as they did so their first two games this season. K-State is looking to halt a three-game losing skid to Texas, each of which were decided by six points or less.

Tyreek Hill scored on receptions of 75, 44 and 20 yards, backflipping into the end zone on his second TD, and finishing with 13 catches for 269 yards. Hill's last receptions was an 8-yarder on third-and-7 to give Mahomes an opportunity to run out the clock. 

The Chiefs won their sixth straight game and clinched their seventh 10-win season in eight years under coach Andy Reid.

MANHATTAN, Kan.&nbsp;– Kansas State’s men’s basketball game against Butler set for Friday, December 11 at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis has been postponed due to COVID-19 related issues within the Butler team.

K-State may reschedule the game with Butler if an opening in the schedule arises, but in the meantime, athletics officials will pursue other options to fill the vacancy.

The game was scheduled as part of the second edition of the Big 12/BIG EAST Battle.

The Wildcats (0-2) are set to return to action on Monday night when they play host to Kansas City (2-1) at 7 p.m., CT at Bramlage Coliseum. The game will air on ESPNU.

FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) — Christian Braun scored 30 points and No. 6 Kansas pulled away from Saint Joseph’s, winning 94-72 in the Rocket Mortgage Fort Myers Tip-Off in Florida. Braun made 10 of 13 shots, hit five 3-pointers and added nine rebounds. Ochai Agbaji, whose foul trouble proved costly in a loss to No. 1 Gonzaga, added 18 points. Jalen Wilson had 14 for the Jayhawks, who improved to 1-1. Jack Forrest had 18 points for Saint Joseph’s, now 0-2 on the year. Ryan Daly and Dahmir Bishop added 14 for the Hawks.

They then saw the Jayhawks tie it twice in the second half before putting them away. Gonzaga went on a 22-7 run to go up 96-78. Suggs scored 17 of his 24 in the second half. Marcus Garrett led Kansas with 22 points and Ochai Agbaji added 17 points. The way these teams played each other, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Gonzaga and Kansas meet again late in the NCAA Tournament, maybe the Final Four.

Drake spoils K-State's season opener 80-70

MANHATTAN, Kan.&nbsp;– Kansas State head coach&nbsp;Chris Klieman&nbsp;met with members of the media via Zoom on Tuesday prior to the Wildcats’ contest this Saturday at Baylor.&nbsp; K-State and Baylor kick off at 6 p.m. on Saturday inside McLane Stadium, and the game will be shown on ESPN2.&nbsp;

“Good afternoon everybody. I hope everyone is having a good Thanksgiving week. It’s a different week for us with not any students on campus and school not in session. We flipped our week a little bit. We will go a little bit earlier on Wednesday and pretty early on Thursday. Even though it doesn’t feel like a short week, it is a short week to prepare for a really good Baylor team that I feel has played really well at times and played really well on both sides of the ball and have had opportunities to win just like we have in the fourth quarter and haven’t gotten that done similar to ourselves. It’s a game that our kids know the importance of. I was pleased with practice yesterday. We had a really good team meeting and talked about a lot of things. Our kids bounced back and had a really good day on Monday. Now we just have to sustain that and make sure we are playing at as high of a level as we can. We have to do a great job as coaches of putting them in positions to be successful on Saturday. It was a humbling day on Saturday for all of us, players and coaches included. Sometimes that happens to you in this profession. Nobody wants to have that happen ever to them, but sometimes it does and you have to learn from it and grow from it and you have to hit it head on and attack the next day.”

On the importance of fast starts to the team...

“It gives life to a young team. When you have a new offensive line, a freshman quarterback, a freshman running back, and some newer kids in the secondary – those are areas where we don’t have a ton of experience – I think it is important to have some confidence built early. You saw what it did here at home against Oklahoma to have a lead and to play with energy and emotion. Then, you see what it does when we don’t have that, whether it is West Virginia or this past weekend at Iowa State. I would flip it and say we were down against Oklahoma and found a way to continue to have great resolve. Part of that is the fact that we didn’t finish some drives early offensively and we didn’t prevent some touchdowns defensively. We had a couple opportunities to get off the field on third down on defense on the first drive, and they took it down and scored. That was pretty demoralizing for both players and defensive staff. Then, obviously, when you get first and goal at the four or five, you have to find a way to punch that in there.”

On if there is more clarity on the quarterback position entering Saturday...

“We are going to keep working both of them. I thought Nick (Ast) did some nice things. I think it was a great learning experience for Will (Howard), especially after he got hit really good the one time and then had a couple frustrating plays for him. I thought it was a good opportunity for him to learn from the sideline and watch. I didn’t want to get him any more shots taken, especially when the game was in the balance that it was where it was going in Iowa State’s favor. I didn’t think that was going to help his growth either by having him take more shots. Both practiced yesterday, and obviously it was a limited day on Monday, but we will keep working both of them, and we are excited about the opportunity for Will to bounce back and the opportunity for Nick to build on what he had on the field.”

On what complications are added with recruiting this year...

“Well, the fact that right now, this is how you and I would recruit. If I was recruiting you, we’d be on a Zoom call and that’s how I’m getting to know you. I’m not going into your home and visiting with your parents. I’m not going to your school and visiting with your head coach. I’m on a phone call with a parent. I’m on a phone call with a head coach. I’m on a phone call with somebody. It’s the only way we know how right now. That’s the only way that’s available to us. That connection is not there of any of us coaches sitting in a living room with somebody, sitting with a young man in his coach’s office or whatever it may be. That’s everyone across the country that are going through these same challenges. That’s my fear moving forward, especially what this year has done. Kids are going to choose schools all over the country without ever being on that campus and never being that far away from home. They’ve never taken an official visit. Some have never taken an unofficial visit. And all of the sudden, we throw that carrot out there that if you don’t like it, you can just leave. That’s sometimes in the best interest of some kids. Oftentimes, and most times, it’s not because just like life, you have to be able to fight through the adverse times that you have. That’s my concern for all of college athletics as we move into the open market for transfers, as well as not getting the opportunity to build those relationships.”

On Baylor’s record not telling the whole story...

“Without question. I watched just a little bit of that game (Baylor at Iowa State), and they really rattled (Brock) Purdy in the first half. Then Brock, like he does, came back and played really well in the second half, but they had an opportunity to win that game. During our open week, I watched the entire Baylor vs. Texas Tech game. Baylor was up two scores in the second half and had an opportunity to close the game out. Credit Texas Tech. They found a way to come back, and so that was another game they had an opportunity. We watched, before we played West Virginia, a really talented Baylor team that took West Virginia at West Virginia to overtime. We said boy, this is a pretty physical and good football team. Those are three losses right there that I’m sure if you asked Dave (Aranda), he’d say they had a chance to win and should’ve lost those three games. Then there’s TCU and Texas, but they’re a team that could probably have four wins right now. Football is so strange. We’re not playing at the best level for us right now, but we played at a high enough level against Oklahoma. We played at a high enough level to beat TCU. We played at a high enough level to beat Texas Tech. The latter two were with Will (Howard) at the helm. We just have to focus on what we can control. That’s our play, our effort, our attitude, our energy and our ability to execute.”

On what Baylor has gone through with COVID this season...

“Yeah, and they had the open week before they played us. I’m assuming they were able to get a number of practices in, whether with their young guys or continuing to develop everybody and I’m sure that’s what Dave (Aranda) wanted to do was develop everybody because he’s still putting in his system. You can flip on the film and watch a very fast, physical defense. Similar to what I say about Skylar (Thompson), I kind of feel the same way when watching Charlie Brewer play. If he’s in the game, they have an opportunity to win. I’ve said this: every time Skylar steps on the field, I think we have an opportunity to win. I think that same thing with Brewer. I think he’s a really, really good competitor. I think he’s an excellent football player. He gives those guys a chance to win.”

MANHATTAN, Kan.&nbsp;– Kansas State head coach&nbsp;Chris Klieman&nbsp;met with members of the media via Zoom on Tuesday prior to the Wildcats’ contest this Saturday at Baylor.&nbsp; K-State and Baylor kick off at 6 p.m. on Saturday inside McLane Stadium, and the game will be shown on ESPN2.&nbsp; CHRIS KLIEMAN, HEAD COACHOpening Statement...“Good afternoon everybody. I hope everyone is having a good Thanksgiving week. It’s a different week for us with not any students on campus and school not in session. We flipped our week a little bit. We will go a little bit earlier on Wednesday and pretty early on Thursday. Even though it doesn’t feel like a short week, it is a short week to prepare for a really good Baylor team that I feel has played really well at times and played really well on both sides of the ball and have had opportunities to win just like we have in the fourth quarter and haven’t gotten that done similar to ourselves. It’s a game that our kids know the importance of. I was pleased with practice yesterday. We had a really good team meeting and talked about a lot of things. Our kids bounced back and had a really good day on Monday. Now we just have to sustain that and make sure we are playing at as high of a level as we can. We have to do a great job as coaches of putting them in positions to be successful on Saturday. It was a humbling day on Saturday for all of us, players and coaches included. Sometimes that happens to you in this profession. Nobody wants to have that happen ever to them, but sometimes it does and you have to learn from it and grow from it and you have to hit it head on and attack the next day.”On the importance of fast starts to the team...“It gives life to a young team. When you have a new offensive line, a freshman quarterback, a freshman running back, and some newer kids in the secondary – those are areas where we don’t have a ton of experience – I think it is important to have some confidence built early. You saw what it did here at home against Oklahoma to have a lead and to play with energy and emotion. Then, you see what it does when we don’t have that, whether it is West Virginia or this past weekend at Iowa State. I would flip it and say we were down against Oklahoma and found a way to continue to have great resolve. Part of that is the fact that we didn’t finish some drives early offensively and we didn’t prevent some touchdowns defensively. We had a couple opportunities to get off the field on third down on defense on the first drive, and they took it down and scored. That was pretty demoralizing for both players and defensive staff. Then, obviously, when you get first and goal at the four or five, you have to find a way to punch that in there.”On if there is more clarity on the quarterback position entering Saturday...“We are going to keep working both of them. I thought Nick (Ast) did some nice things. I think it was a great learning experience for Will (Howard), especially after he got hit really good the one time and then had a couple frustrating plays for him. I thought it was a good opportunity for him to learn from the sideline and watch. I didn’t want to get him any more shots taken, especially when the game was in the balance that it was where it was going in Iowa State’s favor. I didn’t think that was going to help his growth either by having him take more shots. Both practiced yesterday, and obviously it was a limited day on Monday, but we will keep working both of them, and we are excited about the opportunity for Will to bounce back and the opportunity for Nick to build on what he had on the field.”On what complications are added with recruiting this year...“Well, the fact that right now, this is how you and I would recruit. If I was recruiting you, we’d be on a Zoom call and that’s how I’m getting to know you. I’m not going into your home and visiting with your parents. I’m not going to your school and visiting with your head coach. I’m on a phone call with a parent. I’m on a phone call with a head coach. I’m on a phone call with somebody. It’s the only way we know how right now. That’s the only way that’s available to us. That connection is not there of any of us coaches sitting in a living room with somebody, sitting with a young man in his coach’s office or whatever it may be. That’s everyone across the country that are going through these same challenges. That’s my fear moving forward, especially what this year has done. Kids are going to choose schools all over the country without ever being on that campus and never being that far away from home. They’ve never taken an official visit. Some have never taken an unofficial visit. And all of the sudden, we throw that carrot out there that if you don’t like it, you can just leave. That’s sometimes in the best interest of some kids. Oftentimes, and most times, it’s not because just like life, you have to be able to fight through the adverse times that you have. That’s my concern for all of college athletics as we move into the open market for transfers, as well as not getting the opportunity to build those relationships.”On Baylor’s record not telling the whole story...“Without question. I watched just a little bit of that game (Baylor at Iowa State), and they really rattled (Brock) Purdy in the first half. Then Brock, like he does, came back and played really well in the second half, but they had an opportunity to win that game. During our open week, I watched the entire Baylor vs. Texas Tech game. Baylor was up two scores in the second half and had an opportunity to close the game out. Credit Texas Tech. They found a way to come back, and so that was another game they had an opportunity. We watched, before we played West Virginia, a really talented Baylor team that took West Virginia at West Virginia to overtime. We said boy, this is a pretty physical and good football team. Those are three losses right there that I’m sure if you asked Dave (Aranda), he’d say they had a chance to win and should’ve lost those three games. Then there’s TCU and Texas, but they’re a team that could probably have four wins right now. Football is so strange. We’re not playing at the best level for us right now, but we played at a high enough level against Oklahoma. We played at a high enough level to beat TCU. We played at a high enough level to beat Texas Tech. The latter two were with Will (Howard) at the helm. We just have to focus on what we can control. That’s our play, our effort, our attitude, our energy and our ability to execute.”On what Baylor has gone through with COVID this season...“Yeah, and they had the open week before they played us. I’m assuming they were able to get a number of practices in, whether with their young guys or continuing to develop everybody and I’m sure that’s what Dave (Aranda) wanted to do was develop everybody because he’s still putting in his system. You can flip on the film and watch a very fast, physical defense. Similar to what I say about Skylar (Thompson), I kind of feel the same way when watching Charlie Brewer play. If he’s in the game, they have an opportunity to win. I’ve said this: every time Skylar steps on the field, I think we have an opportunity to win. I think that same thing with Brewer. I think he’s a really, really good competitor. I think he’s an excellent football player. He gives those guys a chance to win.”

The Kansas winter sports season will begin on schedule after a vote of the board of directors of the Kansas High School Activities Association.

KSHSAA rules will allow play to begin on Dec. 1, with a moratorium on activities from Dec. 23 to Jan. 7. Practices can resume Jan. 4, and games will be allowed to resume Jan. 8.

No fans will be allowed to attend high school and middle school games Dec. 1 to Jan. 28, with local jurisdictions making the determination of resuming attendance Jan. 29. The issue of spectators could be taken up by the KSHSAA board at a later date.

Other items resulting from the KSHSAA Board of Directors Meeting:

· Basketball may have a maximum of 20 games, exclusive of the postseason.

· Swimming and Diving may have a maximum of 10 competitions, exclusive of the state meet.

· Boys and Girls Wrestling may have a maximum of 18 events and no more than 30 competitions points, exclusive of the postseason.

AMES, Iowa (AP) — Brock Purdy passed for 236 yards and three touchdowns as No. 17 Iowa State beat Kansas State 45-0 for its most lopsided win over the Wildcats in 77 years. Breece Hall was Iowa State’s leading rusher with 135 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries.

 The Cyclones hadn’t had such a wide winning margin against the Wildcats since they beat them 48-0 in 1943. It was their biggest win over a Big 12 opponent since beating Kansas 45-0 three years ago. 

Iowa State improved to 6-2 overall and 6-1 in the Big 12, matching the school record for conference wins. Kansas State had won 11 of the previous 12 meetings.

Due to COVID-19 protocols, K-State’s game at Fort Hays State has been canceled. The Wildcats will travel to Wichita, Kansas, to face Newman on Friday, November 27, at 6 p.m., at Fugate Gymnasium.

Attendance at Fugate Gymnasium will be limited to Pass List only. No visiting fans will be allowed due to limited capacity. The game will be available on The MIAA Network (themiaanetwork.com/newman).

K-State was selected for a fourth-place finish in the 2020-21 Big 12 Preseason Coaches Poll. The Wildcats will be led into the season by unanimous Preseason All-Big 12 selection and 2021 All-America candidate Ayoka Lee and Preseason All-Big 12 Honorable Mention selection Rachel Ranke.

Kansas State returns nine letter winners for the 2020-21 season. K-State also welcomes in graduate transfer Sydney Goodson, junior Makayla Pippin, redshirt freshman Jada Thorpe from injury and freshmen Taylor Lauterbach and Jada Moore.

K-State’s men’s basketball, women’s basketball, men’s golf, women’s golf, tennis and volleyball programs led the Big 12 with perfect 100 percent marks, while the football team’s 91 percent rate was also tops in the league. As a department, K-State was second among current Big 12 membership with an overall average GSR of 92 percent. Only Baylor recorded higher all-sport marks.

Across the NCAA membership (Divisions I, II and III), the GSR has steadily climbed to its highest point at 90 percent in 2019 from 74 percent in 2002. The latest graduation rate data is for the 2013 cohort. All colleges and universities are required by NCAA legislation and federal law (the Student Right-to-Know act from 1990) to report student graduation rates, and those institutions offering athletics aid are required to report for their student-athletes as well. The NCAA acquires student-athlete graduation rate data from the Department of Education’s Integrated Post-Secondary Data System Graduation Rate Survey (IPEDS-GRS). The student-athlete graduation rate calculated directly based on IPEDS-GRS (which is the methodology the U.S. Department of Education requires) is the proportion of first-year, full-time student-athletes who entered a school on athletics aid and graduated from that institution within six years. This federal rate does not account for students who transfer from their original institution and graduate elsewhere; they are considered non-graduates at both the college they left and the one from which they eventually graduate. K-State ranks among the league’s best in terms of overall academic success as it continues to set a national standard for APR, as all programs are currently well above the required NCAA standard.&nbsp;

The NCAA acquires student-athlete graduation rate data from the Department of Education’s Integrated Post-Secondary Data System Graduation Rate Survey (IPEDS-GRS). The student-athlete graduation rate calculated directly based on IPEDS-GRS (which is the methodology the U.S. Department of Education requires) is the proportion of first-year, full-time student-athletes who entered a school on athletics aid and graduated from that institution within six years. This federal rate does not account for students who transfer from their original institution and graduate elsewhere; they are considered non-graduates at both the college they left and the one from which they eventually graduate. K-state records highest ever all-sports GSR rating

LAWRENCE, Kan. — According to a media release from Kansas Athletics, Saturday's Big 12 Conference game between the Jayhawks and the Texas Longhorns has been postponed to Saturday, December 12.&nbsp;

The Kansas football team was unable to meet the minimum position requirements established by the Big 12 Conference, thus the game must be postponed.&nbsp;

According to KU Athletics, since November 8, the athletics department has conducted 825 Covid-19 tests with five returning positive on separate days of testing.

The Big 12 Conference requires 53 players available as a minimum required to play a game. The threshold was established prior to the 2020 season.

Kansas will now turn to its next scheduled game on November 28 at home against TCU.&nbsp;
