Amy Lynne Zwickle was born June 21, 1967, in Ellsworth, KS. The 
daughter of Wayne and Phyllis (Pacey) Zwickle, Amy was one of God's 
angels on earth. Whether it’s a person with Down syndrome being 
compared to an angel or angels being people with Down syndrome, angels 
are linked to Down syndrome like peanut butter is to jelly! Amy gained 
her Heavenly wings on December 2, 2022, at the age of 55 at Decatur 
Health in Oberlin, KS.

There were many things Amy 
loved. Jesus – she did Bible study on her own at least once a week but 
usually more. Singing – she sang at her Church (The United Church of 
Oberlin) several times and brought tears to the congregation because of 
her voice and the fact you could tell she meant what she was singing. 
Her favorite song to sing at Church was Chris Tomlin's “I Will Rise."&nbsp; She also was a country music fan. Although her dad was a Chief's fan, 
Amy chose the Dallas Cowboys mainly because she loved cheerleading and 
she loved to watch the girls try out for the squad. Amy pretty much 
loved everything about life oh, except liver and onions and soup!

Amy
 attended schools in Oberlin (OES), Atwood (Beamgard Learning Center, 
Atwood High School), Greeley, Colorado (Greeley West HS and she took a 
Hospitality Careers course at the University of Northern Colorado). Amy
 received her DCHS High School Diploma in 1989 through Beamgard Learning
 Center. She took part in the Special Olympics for many years and 
earned many awards in Cheerleading and bowling.

 was preceded in death by her dad: Wayne A. Zwickle; grandparents: 
Walter and Lora Zwickle and Leslie and Anita Pacey; aunts: Phyllis 
Nicholson and Irene Pacey; cousins: Ed Pacey and Randy Nicholson.&nbsp;&nbsp;Left

 Arvada CO; sister: Lori (Ryan) Olson of Topeka, KS; nieces: Brandy

children of Arvada, and Taylor Godbout of Manhattan, KS; nephew: Zayne 
Godbout of Topeka and many other family members and friends.

William Stanley Hall (Bill) 77, died peacefully at home, on December 13, 2022. He was born January 17, 1945, in Medora Indiana, the son of John Taylor, and Mable June (Hanner) Hall. Bill grew up in Jackson County Indiana attending local schools. In 1962, he joined the US ARMY, where he served in Vietnam. Bill received honorable discharge in 1965 and returned to Fort Riley Kansas where he was stationed. Bill started his family in Kansas soon thereafter as well as his career and businesses that followed. He worked on the Sante Fe Railroad and drove a semi-truck over 7 million miles during his time employed. Bill also owned and operated a tree service in Abilene, where he ultimately relocated to after his return from service. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Elmer (Medora, Indiana), John Marion Junior, sisters, BettyLou, Jereldean, his daughter Angela Adamson (Abilene), and his grandson Jeremy Graber. Bill is Survived by his Son Wade (Robin) Hall of Abilene, Anita (Eric) Jackson of Salina, Brandon (Shawna) Hall (Topeka), and Bobbi (Scott) Middleton of Montgomery Texas, step son Justin (Amy) Rutz of Abilene: Twelve grandchildren, Amanda, Chelsea, Miranda Kae, Laurel, Saxon, Cameron, Kennidee, Clyde, Talon, Brody, Megan, and Madeline: Six great grandchildren, Trevin, Journey, Braylen, Knixson, Atticus, and Kashton. Harry was born in Kinsley, Kansas on November 12, 1926, to Edna Florence (Strube) and Harry Clifford Reinecke.

Harry served in the United States Army and was a veteran of WWII serving in Manila, Philippines.

On
 March 3, 1951, Harry married Imogene Mathews in Eureka Springs, 
Arkansas.  To this marriage were born two daughters, Kathy and Ann, and 
two sons, David and Scott.

In 1961, Harry opened 
Harry’s Body Shop in Greensburg, Kansas, which he operated until his 
retirement in 1990.  Along with the body shop, Harry ran a wrecker 
service and to coordinate with the Kiowa County Sheriff, was a deputy 
with the Kiowa County Sheriff’s Office.  Harry passed his knowledge of 
auto body repair and painting on to his sons who both worked for him 
while growing up.

Harry and Jean enjoyed square dancing
 and Harry loved playing town team basketball, and was an avid bowler. 
Harry was a long-time volunteer with the Kiowa County Fire Department 
serving as Treasurer for many of those years.  He loved fishing and 
hunting and he passed that love on to his sons.  Harry helped coach 
girls’ softball for a few years and got to coach his daughter, Ann.  He 
never missed any of his kids’ or grandson’s school or sports events. 
Later in life, Harry took up golf and enjoyed golfing with his son, 
Scott, and his grandson, Alex.  He always had time for his kids.

After
 retirement, Harry taught himself woodworking and over the years created
 many projects for family and friends and his own enjoyment.  He 
volunteered at the Greensburg High School shop class where he loved 
helping the kids with their projects.

Harry was an avid
 reader throughout his life, and especially enjoyed a good western and 
anything history.  Harry loved his family and his community. He always 
had a smile on his face and a joke to tell.  He will be missed.

Survivors
 include his wife, Imogene Reinecke, Salina, Kansas; two daughters, 
Kathy Staples (Ron), Salina, Kansas, Ann Rhea, Wichita, Kansas; son, 
Scott Reinecke (Susan), Salina, Kansas; one grandchild, Alex Reinecke, 
Manhattan, Kansas, and one great grandchild, Harrison Reinecke.

Harry is preceded in death by his parents; son, David Reinecke; son-in-law, Tom Rhea; and brother, Gary Reinecke.

Cremation has been chosen.  Graveside services will take place at a later date.

Harry Edwin Reinecke

Martin Lee “Marte” DeMars entered the world September 3, 1953 and left the world December 12, 2022. He was the fourth child to Hector “Frenchie” and Marjorie (Downey) DeMars. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Thursday&nbsp; December 15, 2022&nbsp; at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel.&nbsp; A private inurnment service will take place December 29, 2022 at St. Mary’s Cemetery and another memorial service will take place in Glasco, Kansas at a date yet to be determined. Marte grew up in Glasco, Kansas where he graduated from high school in 1971. He then attended the vocational school in Beloit where he mastered the trades of welding and masonry. Life wasn’t always easy for Marte and he had numerous jobs in his earlier years. He took his last drink and did his last drug on December 29, 1985. The following year he started the Crossroads Narcotics Anonymous meeting out of his home. It was the first open Narcotics Anonymous meeting in Junction City and later was moved to the Circle A Club where it still meets. For several years he organized the “Just for Today Free Campout” at Milford for recovering addicts and alcoholics. By staying clean and sober Marte touched the lives of many struggling with the disease of addiction whether it was listening to someone in need at 2:00 in the morning, driving them to their first meeting, or getting a person into treatment; he was a driving force in the world of recovery. He began working at Central Mechanical Construction Company in January 1992 after placing an ad in the newspaper under “situations wanted.” At the job interview the owner asked if he could really do the skills he listed and Marte replied “yes and more, but I ran out of money for “ad.” He retired from CMCC in September 2002. On Oct. 20, 1990, he married Jeanette Erichsen at St. Xavier Catholic Church. Shortly after marriage, they made their home near Milford Lake. Marte enjoyed riding and rebuilding Harley Davidson motorcycles and at one time, owned four bikes ranging in age from 1936 to 2003. He collected Harley Davidson hats with a goal of getting one from every state, as well as parts, memorabilia and other “treasures.” He liked to brag he had “one of everything” when it came to tools. He loved building things from old farm implement parts to include swings, picnic tables, bird baths, benches, and yard art. He also liked cultivating wildflower patches on his property and always had a dog nearby or in the truck with him. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; his sister Jill and her husband Lee Howerton of Manhattan; a sister-in-law, Nancy DeMars of Glasco; sisters and brothers-in-law: Eileen and Dale Small, Steve and Debby Erichsen, Rock and Liz Erichsen, and Dennis Erichsen, all of Junction City; nieces and nephews: Erin Howerton of Wichita, Bill DeMars of Glasco, Stephanie Baxa of Osborne,  Jamie White of Shawnee, Stephanie Edmonson of McPherson, Kelly Kramer of Junction City, Christian Erichsen of Sumter, South Carolina; Hailey Herdt of Derby, and Chrissa and Crystal Erichsen, both of Texas. Natalie was born April 17, 1958, Junction City, Kansas the daughter of William and Harriett Alberteen (Suiter) Kausler. For many years, Natalie worked for Sprint Telephone Company in Junction City, Kansas. Later she worked as a Civil Servant. She enjoyed crafting and spending time with her grandchildren. Natalie was a caregiver for husband Jon for many years in their home. On July 22, 1995, she married Jon Fleming at Fort Riley, Kansas. Natalie is survived by her loving husband, Jon Fleming; two daughters, Crystal J. Kausler and Melissa D. Betty Jane Peters, age 97 of Leonardville, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2022 at the Leonardville Nursing Home.

She was born on October 18, 1925 in Bala, the daughter of Daniel David and Lena Betty (Bletscher) Llewelyn.

Betty Jane Peters

Bobby Rex Brown, age 83 of Riley, passed away Monday, December 12, 2022 at the Leonardville Nursing Home.

He was born on August 27, 1939 in Clay Center, the son of James Albert and Sylvia Maxine (Lake) Brown.

He married Karen Wooledge on July 8, 1961 in Clay Center.&nbsp; She survives of the home.

Bob, in his early years, served as a patrolman for the Clay Center Police Department and as a volunteer fireman in South Hutchinson.&nbsp; When his children were born, he left these pursuits and spent the rest of his working life in retail.&nbsp; He was for many years, the chief problem solver for the customers of Waters True Value in Manhattan.

Bob was a ceaselessly proud father, grandfather and great grandfather.&nbsp; he was the collector of huge mountains of all things that were just barely broken or in need of just a small repair.&nbsp; He was Mr. Fixit to his family and friends, doing repairs and refinishing many pieces of furniture.&nbsp; His free time was spent as a member of Sertoma and of the Manhattan Kansas Kennel Club where his love of all things canine was never satisfied.

In addition to his wife Karen, he is survived by one son, Dr. Michael Brown and wife Lisa of Gaston, Indiana; one daughter, Stacey Mahaffey and husband Scott of Riley; three brothers, James Brown of Clay Center, Paul Brown of Yuma, Arizona and Dan Brown and wife Judy of Pawnee City, Nebraska; four granddaughters, Kiane Mahaffey, Katie Simpson, Kallie Bellinder and Lauren Candiano and five great granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Carol Brown and Don Brown.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home with Pastor Gerry Sharp officiating.&nbsp; The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Monday.&nbsp; Inurnment will be in the Riley Cemetery.

Dorothy was a member the American Legion Auxiliary for 32 years and served as President in 1990. She was also a member of the Leisure Center and served once as President of that organization. She also volunteered her time working at the Clay County Museum. She sometimes was invited to talk to Grade School Children about the Depression and growing up in those times.

Survivors include son, Steven Fowles and wife Cindy of Salina, daughters, Kathy and husband Bill Robinson of Clay Center, Wendy and husband Tom Kirchner Jr. of Blue Hills Nebraska.&nbsp; A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Just one of Dorothys favorite songs she would sing or whistle in her younger years was Zip a Dee Doo Dah. She always had a caring heart for others and loved her Card Games and Bingo with friends. She enjoyed life, its people and history of Clay Center. We will always remember growing up on Lane Street and the good memories she gave us.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home.

Inurnment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Carmen Catherine Palmer-Tower, 94, of Abilene, went to be with her heavenly father on December 12 2022. Carmen was born January 13th, 1928, to Floyd and Ola Boll in Concordia, KS. After high school she attended Miltonville College in Miltonville Kansas and graduated with an elementary education degree. While in college she met Rev. Richard James Palmer. They later married on June 18th, 1953. They went on to have three children Richard Keith Palmer, Sharon Kathleen Palmer-Shaw, Michael James Palmer. After her late husband passed away in 2009, Carmen spent her remaining years with her husband John Tower. They married November 9th, 2019. As a couple, they went to McDonald’s every morning and enjoyed coffee with their friends. They also enjoyed traveling throughout Kansas going to mom &amp; pop restaurant’s and watching tv together. Carmen was predeceased by her parents Floyd &amp; Ola Boll, her late husband Rev. Richard Palmer, a son Keith Palmer, and three sisters one brother who died at birth. She is survived by her husband John Tower, her children Sharon &amp; Rick Shaw of Abilene and Mike Palmer of Lebanon, MO. Amy Nicole Gutierrez was born January 5, 1973 in Grand Island, Nebraska the daughter of Jerry and Aleta (Stout) Olsen. She graduated from Abilene High School and from Missouri Western State University with a bachelor’s degree in Social Work. Amy was a receptionist at Dipoto Counseling Group. Previously she was a social worker in the Kansas City Area. She enjoyed her family especially her nieces and nephew, going to movies, going out to dinner, and bunnies. On December 27, 2009, Amy was united in marriage to Jimmy Gutierrez in Kansas City, Missouri. He survives of the home. Gary Gene Cox, 80 of Abilene passed away December 10th, 2022, at Memorial Hospital in&nbsp; Abilene. He was born October 26th, 1942, in Abilene. The son of Joe Henry Sr. and Gladys June (Shane) Cox. Gary grew up in the Hope area, attended local schools and graduated from Hope High School in 1960. On June 9th, 1962, he was united in marriage to Patricia Herbel in Abilene.

Gary worked for the Abilene Fire Department for 23 years and then worked as head custodian for USD 435 until his retirement. He was a member of the Abilene Elks Club, Eagles Club, and the Cabin Club. Gary was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife Patricia of the home. Threedaughters: Barb Karraker (Devin) of Abilene; Bev Stillwagon (Rick) of St. George, Kansas; and Becky Stout (James Jr.) of Abilene. Grandchildren: Hannah Wilcox; Kayleigh Karraker; Hayden Karraker (Jillian); Courtney Jenkins (Jacob); Breanna Boucher (Tanner); Tristan Stillwagon; Sarah Hoerner (Trey); Sydney Stout; Savannah Stout and Samantha Stout. Shelly Kay Witt, age 49, of Junction City, Kansas, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2022, in the care of Good Shepherd Homecare and Hospice in Manhattan, Kansas.

After graduation from Chapman High School in 1991, she went on to study at the University of Kansas before traveling to the pacific northwest where she was involved in fire prevention and safety plans in Montana and Oregon. She returned home and continued the adventures of life. She enjoyed the great outdoors and a great love of music. She was a true and loyal friend to the end and always had your back. She was bright, funny and someone you could talk to about anything.

Shelly is survived by her parents, John and Marcella Witt of Junction City; her sisters Rhonda (Brandon) Witt and Angie (Will) Shores; nephews Aaron Witt and Hunter Shores; nieces Annalise, Lily and Annabeth Witt; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and other beloved family members.

Shelly was preceded in death by her sister, Dawn Witt; paternal grandparents, Edward Hugo and Anna Helen Bolleson Witt; maternal grandparents, Willard Walter and Phyllis Eliza Henkins.

After a brief illness in KU Medical Center and Good Shepherd Hospice in Manhattan. He was was taken home to be with his Lord. He will be sadly missed and will always hold a place in our hearts.

Dean graduated from North High School in Wichita, Kansas and served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed working as a mechanic, at Dick Edwards Auto Plaza in Junction City until his retirement. Dean enjoyed his faith, family, woodworking , baby sitting and pets - not necessarily in that order.

He is survived by his wife, Sondra Kubin of Manhattan; sons: Dennis (Cindy) Kailey of Denver, Colorado; Robert Kubin of Springfield, Missouri; daughters, Shari (Jeremiah) Catlin of Ft. Gordon R.&nbsp;Garrett, 67, of Russell, Kansas, went home to be&nbsp;with the Lord on Sunday, November 13, 2022, in San Antonio, Texas.

Gordon was born March 23, 1955, in&nbsp;Ellsworth,&nbsp;Kansas. &nbsp;He was the son of&nbsp;Duane A. and Joan L. (Kaufman) Garrett. &nbsp;He grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School in the Class of 1973. &nbsp;Gordon only missed one day of school from K&nbsp;–&nbsp;12.&nbsp;&nbsp;He then attended Colby Junior College where he played baseball&nbsp;and then&nbsp;attended Fort Hays&nbsp;State University&nbsp;where he obtained a&nbsp;Bachelor&nbsp;degree in Athletic Training. &nbsp;He then&nbsp;obtained a Master’s Degree in&nbsp;Sports Administration&nbsp;from Western&nbsp;Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois.&nbsp;After school, he moved to San Antonio where he remained to his passing.

Gordon was&nbsp;an Athletic Trainer/Teacher at&nbsp;Alamo Heights&nbsp;High School in San Antonio&nbsp;for over 35 years.

Gordon&nbsp;was united in marriage to Elsa Trevino. &nbsp;They made their home in San Antonio. &nbsp;He enjoyed motorcycle riding, helping friends and being involved with&nbsp;sports.&nbsp;He was an inspiration and touched many lives not only in the school district, but in everyone he met. &nbsp;He was a man of true grit, spirit, love and great determination.&nbsp;&nbsp;Gordon&nbsp;was injured in a motorcycle accident while returning home from school in April 2017. &nbsp;He was left paralyzed and spent many months in rehabilitation centers where he was an inspiration to patients and staff.

Gordon’s surviving family include his wife Elsa Garrett of the home; children, Kristin Schulte of Winfield,&nbsp;Alabama, Justin&nbsp;Garrett&nbsp;(Mandi) of San Diego, California and Jordan Garrett of San Antonio, Texas; step children, Jessica Morales (Jose) and Joshua Coronado (Megan); mother, Joan Weigel (Fred) of Russell, Kansas;&nbsp;brothers, Blaine Garrett (Janet) of&nbsp;Castle&nbsp;Rock,&nbsp;Colorado:&nbsp;sister, Diann&nbsp;Goodyear (Kenneth) of&nbsp;Manhattan, Kansas; step brother, Leon Weigel of Russell, Kansas; six grandchildren, Logan, Porter, Lexen, Sofia, Catalina and&nbsp;Julian.

Gordon was preceded in death by his father, Duane Garrett; grandparents, George and Eva&nbsp;Kaufman and Adam and Chloie Garrett.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell. &nbsp;Burial of Ashes will follow at the Dorrance City Cemetery. &nbsp;

Leona M. Graham, 92, of Salina, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2022.

Leona was born on April 10, 1930, to Frank and Agnes (Herrman) Klaus in Liebenthal, KS.

She moved to Salina in 1950 to go to Brown Mackie College. She met 
and married Wilbert J. (Bill) Graham on June 26, 1951. Bill precedes her
 in death.

Leona first worked for KSAL radio. She then was self-employed working
 from home rebuilding and refurbishing furniture while her family was 
young. After her daughters were grown, she worked for St. John’s 
Military School and later St. John’s Hospital/Salina Regional Health 
Center where she retired in 2006.

Leona was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and avid golfer and
 taught/coached junior golf at the Elks Country Club for many years. She
 loved the game until her health no longer allowed her to play.

She is survived by two daughters Tari Piskac (John) Manhattan KS, 
Diane Jayne (Ron Dawson) Salina KS., and three grandchildren, Steve 
Wilson (Juli) Salina KS, Taegan Jayne, Salina KS, Tish Schneider (Evan) 
Kdena, Okinawa, Japan. One great grandchild Finley Wilson, Salina KS.

A private family memorial service will be held.

Gary L. Billings, 79, passed away December 10, 2022.

He was born June 28, 1943, in Portis, the son of Roland and Estelle (LaRue) Billings.

He
 is survived by his lifelong companion and friend, Linda; their sons, 
Troy (Stacy) of Stapleton, NE, Tony (Michelle) of Ogden, Terry of 
Norton, Tom (Nicole) of Salina, and Jamie (Amanda) of Portis; siblings, 
Bill (Virginia) Billings of Lancaster, Barbara Tate of Newton, Linda 
(Larry) Lillibridge of Manhattan, and Roger (Janice) Mallory of Duncan, 
OK.; 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild and many nieces and 
nephews and friends.

Funeral service will be Thursday, December 
15, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church, Downs. Visitation

Henry W. Kuhlman passed away on December 11, 2022 at the Clay County Medical Center in Clay Center, Kansas at the age of 93.

Henry was born and raised in Linn, Kansas, the son of Henry &amp; Anna Kuhlman, who immigrated to the states from Germany. He married Iris Kathleen Gray on June 4th, 1950 where he resided in the Linn community with his wife for over 60 years. &nbsp;They raised their four children, Laura Rene, Teresa Ann, Rolf Eric, and Henry Jay.

He was a lifetime member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Linn where he served on the council for many years.&nbsp;

In his early years, Henry worked with his father as a partner at Kuhlman Motor Company in Linn.&nbsp; From 1965 through 1989, he owned and operated the Chrysler Dealership in Washington. In his later years, he worked for the Dodge dealership in Marysville, Kansas where he was able to share his many years of experience in the auto industry. He served as Chairman of the Linn Housing Board for 39 years and was a member of the Washington Lions Club, the Elks Club, and the Moose Club. He was a member for fourteen years on the board of the Kansas Motor Car Dealers Association and served as President from 1979-1980. His many achievements also included serving as City Clerk, President of the Linn Booster Club and Chairman of the Washington County Agricultural Hall of Fame. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing the drums at local events. After he retired, his passion was working in his yard and gardens.

Henry is preceded in death by his wife (Iris), sister (Dorothy Ann), and daughter (Teresa Ann Hohman).

He leaves behind his daughter, Laura and husband Kelly of San Antonio, TX, Rolf and wife Joy of Omaha, NE, and Henry Jay and wife Kelley, of Kihei, HI. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren as well as many close friends that he came to know throughout his many years.

Private memorial services will be held at a later date.

Warren Fritz

Joe Don Jones, age 90, passed away peacefully December 10, 2022 at Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community-Wroten House in Manhattan.

Joe was born February 17, 1932 in Salina, KS to Hubert and Opal Jones. He grew up in Salina where he loved to play baseball. Joe pitched for the Salina American Legion team that won the State Championship and then went on to play semi-pro baseball for the next few years. Upon graduation from Salina High School, he joined the Naval Reserves in Olathe.

He worked for Union Pacific Railroad and Pittsburg Paint Glass in Salina. He met the love of his life Janet Barbara Telander at a “Friday Night Dance” in Salina and they were married on September 5, 1954. They later had three children, Gary, Debbie and Steve.

Joe moved his family from Salina to Manhattan in 1958, when Joe started working for Cook Paint Company. In 1966 he was named Manager at Harding Glass, where he worked for over 20 years. He went on to win "Glassman of the Year" and advanced to Regional Vice President. Combined, Joe spent more than 60 years in the glass industry.

Joe coached youth baseball in Manhattan for several years, cookie and biscuit leagues as well as American Legion. He was District Chairman for American Legion Baseball for many years.

Joe and his two sons Gary &amp; Steve started Manko Window Systems in 1989. His daughter Debbie joined the family business a year later. Manko celebrated 30 years in business in 2019.

Joe was a lifelong woodworker and enjoyed making furniture for family and friends. He was an avid sports fan, especially K-State football and basketball. Joe received his Pilot license and loved to fly. He liked to play golf, go to the lake, and he loved following all his grandchildren’s activities. Joe was a member of the American Legion, Elks Club, VFW, Manhattan Country Club, and was a Founding Member at Colbert Hills.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents Hubert and Opal Jones, his sister Pat Larson, his brother-in-law J. Barry Telander, and his wife Janet Barbara Jones.

He is survived by his children: Gary &amp; Jennifer Jones, Debbie &amp; Dave Rowe, Steve &amp; Claudia Jones all of Manhattan; Six grandchildren: Mindy (Kyle) Morgan of Platte City, MO; Staci Rowe of Overland Park, Johnna (Matt) Fleming of Basehor, Stephanie Jones of Ames, IA, Brett (Lindsay) Jones of Manhattan, and Michael (Amanda) Jones of Manhattan; Eight great grandchildren: Amora Raney, Madelyn Fleming, Ellie Fleming, Rush Jones, Logan Fleming, Pemberley Morgan, Palmer Jones, and Reagan Jones. He is also survived by a niece, Jackie Kisling of Portland, OR; sister-in-law Sylvia Telander of Farmington, MN; nephew Chris Telander of Prior Lake, MN, niece Laura Graf of St. Paul, MN; seven great nieces and one great nephew, as well as so many loving friends and family.

A visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday, December 18, 2022 from 5:30pm to 7:00pm at Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan.

He was born December 28, 1927, on the family farm southeast of Manhattan, the son of John W. and Helen (Wahl) Gehrt.

Buck’s love of horses and the Flint Hills began at an early age when he would see his neighbor Billy Blasing ride by on his horse. Buck was then delighted when his dad bought a horse for him and his siblings to share, that was the first of many horses for Buck. Buck spent most of his life custom grazing yearling cattle and selling pasture real estate. Several of the pasture owners that Buck treasured their business relationships included Alf and Theo Landon, and the Rannels family that owned a number of acres south of Manhattan.

He was a life member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, a charter member of the Kaw Valley Rodeo Association, the Kansas Livestock Association and served on the Riley County Planning Board.

He was married to Betty J. Culbertson on September 17, 1950, in Manhattan. Betty survives of Manhattan. Additional survivors include their four children: Dan Gehrt and his wife Cora (Heimstra-Lane) Gehrt of Manhattan, Teresa Sanborn and her husband Steve of Manhattan, Sherry Gehrt and her husband Joe Horocofsky of Pollok, TX, and David Gehrt and his wife Brenda of Pollok, TX; five grandchildren: Stephanie and Brian Sanborn, Bobbie Joe Horocofsky, Tee and Payton Gehrt; and two great-grandchildren: Blaise Webb and Raylen Gehrt.

Buck was preceded in death by his brothers and sister: Harry Gehrt, Geraldine Werner, Delmar “Pete” Gehrt and Earl Gehrt.

To Celebrate Buck’s Life the family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. Sunday, December 18th, at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 19th, at Pleasant Valley Cemetery southeast of Manhattan, with Reverend Michael J. Schmidt officiating.

Maurice J. “Buck” Gehrt

John Darrel Coup, age 83, passed away at the Abilene Hospital on Tuesday, December 6, 2022.

He was born June 12, 1939, in Manchester, Kansas, the sixth child of Roy and Iva (Barclay) Coup. He attended several grade schools in Dickinson County and graduated from Dickinson County Community High School in 1958.

John helped his father with farming and later owned his own farm. He helped many neighbors and local farmers and they in turn helped him in later years.

Having never married, he lived in Talmage with his parents.

Watching old westerns, bull riding and sports (especially football) on television were things John enjoyed.

John was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Vera Luthi and Erma Faye Yant, several uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews. Survivors include his sisters, Jeanne Lundin of Manhattan, Patricia Goss of Melbourne, Florida, Mid Hanson of Abilene and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation is planned and burial will be in the spring with a private graveside service at the Prairie Dale Cemetery near Talmage.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Talmage Historical Society and the Wild Bill Hickok Rodeo (which John thoroughly enjoyed attending). Contributions may be mailed to the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, KS 66502.

John Darrel Coup

William S. “Bill” Cook, 88, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday (December 7, 2022) at Wellsprings of Westmoreland, Kansas.

William was born to Shelton and Anita (Wells) Cook at home in St. Marys, Kansas on February 2, 1934 and lived at Belvue, KS and Wamego, KS.&nbsp; Bill attended Pleasantview and Belvue grade schools and graduated from Wamego High School.

On November 27, 1955, William married Lois Johnson. She survives of the home.

William previously worked for various farmers in the area, at the Missile Base and for the City of Wamego. He was also a Reserve Officer for the Wamego Police Department.&nbsp; He retired from PR&amp;W Rural Electric as a lineman after 36 years.

An avid bowler, Bill was the Kansas State Champion in Singles 1970-1971. He was inducted into the Kansas Bowlers Hall of Fame in 1996. Bill was a member of the American Bowling Association, American Bowling Congress and United States Bowling Congress.&nbsp; He was a Life Member, past Vice-President and past Board Director of the Manhattan Men Bowling Association.&nbsp; Bill also enjoyed making wood projects for family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Lois; a daughter, Kathryn Reed; two sons, Harry S. Cook and William Cook (Della) all of Wamego, KS; two grandsons, Michael Reed (Courtney) and Adam Reed; five great grandchildren, Symphony, Lex, Willow, Abby and Alexa; three sisters, Muriel McClenney of Kansas City, KS, Norma Cook of Exeter, CA, and June Wiseman (Gene) of Atwater, CA; a sister in law, Cheri Cook of Shingle Springs, CA; a brother in law, Robert Johnson of McFarland, KS; and a host of relatives and friends.

Mr. Cook was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Albert Cook (Joan), Cecil Cook (Geraldine) and Guy Cook; a sister, Alberta Cook; and a brother in law, Charles McClenney.

&nbsp;Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m.&nbsp; Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at&nbsp; the Campanella &amp; Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego with Rev. Dr. Tony Mattia officiating.&nbsp; Burial will be in the Wamego City Cemetery.

William will lie in state Monday, December 12 beginning at 2:00 p.m.&nbsp; The family will meet with friends on Monday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Wamego.

Together in 1948, they opened the first Dairy Queen in Junction City with their partners Clayton and Millie Lundine. Nadine was one of the original charter members of the Geary Community Hospital Auxiliary, member of the Ladies Reading Club, president of JayCee Janes, Cub Scout leader, Girl Scout leader, and president of Lincoln School PTA. She was also an active member of 3 Bridge Clubs and of First Christian Church. Nadine is survived by her loving children; Elaine (Hugh) Dill of Junction City, Kansas, Grover (Diane) Edie of Novi, Michigan, Robert (Rhonda) Edie of Sunray, Texas, Darell (Michelle) Edie of Manhattan, Kansas; thirteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Terri Eldridge, 62, of Junction City, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 10, 2022 surrounded by family. Cremation will take place. On August 01, 1980, she married Roy Eldridge in Falcon, Colorado. Terri is survived by her loving husband, Roy; her son, Nathaniel Eldridge of Junction City, Kansas; her daughter, Samantha (Justin) Banister of Evans, Georgia; and two grandchildren, Aiden and Savannah.
