Allan Miller, 65, of Manhattan, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka.

Allan Miller

William Henry Altman Sr., 49, of Manhattan, formerly of Alabama, 
passed away Sunday, April 9th, at Ascension Via Christi Health Hospital.

Bill
 was born in Norfolk, Virginia on February 19, 1974, the son of Linda

Anschutz, Charlotte Anschutz, Cooper Schwartz, and Layton Schwartz.&nbsp; One
 Great Grandchild left behind was Carter Anschutz, and several nieces 
and nephews.

My wife and their mother, Elberta, was a loving, kind, and giving 
person who always put the needs of her family before her own.&nbsp; She was a
 strong woman known for her faith and instilled the importance of 
family, hard work, and doing what is right. She faced every challenge in
 her life with courage and dignity and was a source of inspiration to us
 all.

You will always be in our hearts, and we will never forget you. We love you so much. Rest in peace.

The memorial service will be held at Concordia Lutheran Church on 
April 22, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. with a reception following the service to 
be held at the BCDI Building in Bushton, KS.

Elberta R. Anschutz

Stella Jean Shankle Brown, 91, of Monroe, LA, passed away on April 5th, 2023. 
The funeral service will be graveside at Mount Carmel Cemetery in 
Eudora, AR April 8th at 11:00 AM graveside service only. Brother Kenny 
Culpepper will be officiating, and Pastor Steve Myers will speak 
virtually from his home in Michigan. 
Stella Jean was born in Sikeston, MO, on March 2nd, 1932. She graduated 
from Sikeston high school and worked as a secretary, proficient and an 
expert in shorthand dictation. 
Stella Jean was a secretary for Rural Electric Co-op in Sikeston, MO. 
Stella Jean Shankle married Benjamin Lindsey Brown on April 17th, 1959, 
at Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Eventually, they made their home in 
Manhattan, KS, from 1974 until 2019. Stella Jean enjoyed sewing, 
knitting, swimming, playing bridge with the girls, and working hours on 
the O'Hara, Shankle, and Brown Genealogy. She also spent time working at
 the Kansas State University bookstore. In 2019, due to health problems 
and to be closer to family, they moved to Monroe, LA, and lived at 
Azalea Estates assisted living. They were married for 60 years. 
Stella Jean Brown is survived by her nieces and nephews William Edward 
Shankle of Arnold, MO, Milton L. Brown of Eudora, Arkansas, Clarinda 
Jane Shankle of Pensacola, FL, and Elizabeth Joanne Kiel of Bixby, OK. 
Great nephews Michael L. Brown of Monroe, LA, Jeffrey Brown of West 
Monroe, LA., Cheryl Kiel, and Jon Kiel from Bixby, OK. and four 
great-great nephews Davis Brown, Tyler Brown, Brady Brown, and Cameron 
Brown. 
Stella Jean Brown is preceded in death by her husband Benjamin Brown, 
her parents Jasper Wyatt Shankle and Lillian Edna O'Hara Shankle, a 
Sister Electa Shankle Goldwasser, a Brother William Robert Shankle, an 
Aunt Electa O'Hara and nieces Pat Goldwasser Musser and Michelle 
Goldwasser. 
Stella Jean Brown's family would like to thank Azalea Estates for giving
 Stella and Ben a community to be a part of after leaving their home for
 so many years. The care and love they received were "STELLAR." Stella 
enjoyed visiting with her friends, activities and playing BINGO in the 
community, and sipping wine during happy hour. She also enjoyed watching
 the Westerns. I want to thank her sitters, Gayle Grayson, Denise

Stella Jean Shankle Brown

Marceline "Marcy" Anna Dubois Cassel Leach, 84, died April 8, 
2023, at Via Christi Village, Manhattan, KS, where she received 
excellent care in the last months of her life. She was born August 25, 
1938, in Oklahoma City to Richard and Anna Dubois, and spent her 
childhood living near many grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Due
 to this closeness, Marcy always cherished time with family and friends.

In
 1955, Marcy met Hiram Cassel at Draper Park Christian Church in 
Oklahoma City. They were married on August 5, 1956, and together 
ministered in many churches in Oklahoma, Texas, and Kansas. As a couple,
 they had a passion for teaching God’s Word at retreats, revivals, 
church events, and overseas in Jamaica and Russia. One of her proudest 
accomplishments was the development of Woman’s World, a weekend retreat 
sponsored by Manhattan Christian College. She had a passion for teaching
 women and helping guide them in their study of Scripture. As a member 
of the University Christian Church, she taught Sunday School for decades
 and led many Bible Bowl teams.

Marcy was widowed in 
2009 and later found love again with Donn Leach. They were married on 
Feb. 3, 2018, and they each considered the other as a gift from God.

Marcy’s
 life is being celebrated by her husband Donn, her children Chris, 
Marilyn (Cooper), Ceaven, Ed, Curtis, and Bob, her brother Richard, 
sister-in-law Karen, brother-in-law Eddy, 16 grandchildren (Andy, Renee,
 Carla, JC, Chelsea, Dustin, Casey, Randa, Kim, Eli, Brohgan, Adam, 
Willy, Rachel, Anna, and Tyler), 13 great-grandchildren (Ashlyn, Hannah,
 Audrey, Verily, Valor, Venture, Cassie, Timmy, Titus, Hudson, Desmond, 
Elias, and Tristan), numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended 
family members.

Marcy leaves a legacy of hospitality 
and faith. She opened her home to anyone and everyone who needed a place
 to stay. She delighted in hosting holiday meals and Sunday lunches, 
often feeding 25 or more people in her famous tomato-themed kitchen. She
 is celebrating in heaven with Hiram, her sister, and her parents, as 
well as many beloved close friends.

Private services 
have been held.   The family requests that in place of flowers, memorial
 contributions be made to the Manhattan Christian College Woman’s World

Marcy Dubois Cassel Leach

Eiko McVey, born February 9, 1931, was a caring wife, mother, 
grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She left this world on April 
10, 2023, at age 92 at Aberdeen Village in Olathe, Kansas.

Eiko
 was born in Muroran, Japan the daughter of Kichishiro and Shinobu 
Yamada. Eiko married Granville McVey in 1958 who preceded her in death 
in 2013.

Eiko is survived by two sons, Kenneth (Karen) McVey 
(Manhattan, KS), and Gary (Suzanne) McVey (Olathe, KS), granddaughter 
Kelli (Nick) Moran (Denver, CO), Kyle McVey (Manhattan, KS), Brandon 
McVey (Troy, KS) and Jackson (Olathe, KS) and great-grandchildren Ollie 
and Liana Moran (Denver, CO).

Eiko's passion for 
cooking and baking was evident in the delicious meals and desserts she 
prepared for her family. Her work at the Manhattan school district as a 
lunchroom employee was a testament to her dedication to serving others. 
After retirement, she continued to care for others, spending time with 
her grandchildren, working in the garden, and sharing her warmth and 
kindness with those around her.

The family will greet 
friends during a visitation on Monday April 17, 2023, from 6:00 until 
7:00p.m. at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan.

Funeral
 Services will be held at 10:00a.m. Tuesday April 18, 2023, at the 
Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, with Pastor Melanie Nord 
officiating.  Interment will follow in the Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery at

Virginia Petrik

Melinda “Mindy” (Gray) Campbell passed away peacefully on April 1st, 
2023, from Cancer surrounded by her loving family. She was born on 
October 13th, 1953, in Manhattan, KS to William and Myrna Gray. She 
married Ralph Campbell in June of 1990 and spent the next 33 years 
building a wonderful life together. She enjoyed many motorcycle trips 
with friends, traveling and camping with friends. She also enjoyed 
shopping, crafting, reading, playing cards at the lake and watching HGTV
 for ideas for the home and most of all loving her children and 
grandchildren. After retiring from Prime Operating, she moved to Lake 
Eufaula with her husband. Mindy is a graduate of Putnam City Original 
Class of '72 and had attended Arapahoe Community College in Colorado.

Mindy is survived by her husband Ralph Campbell; mother Myrna; 
children: &nbsp;Luke Gregory (Theresa) Choctaw, OK, Christen Hannegan (Chad) 
Piedmont, OK, Jennifer Andrews (Jake) Yukon, OK, Sarah Yager (Brian) 
Yukon, OK, Darla Brown (Kevin) Yukon, OK, and Bryan Campbell (Heather 
Johnson) Laramie, WY; grandchildren:&nbsp; Katie, Carly, Cade, Alexandria, 
Jordan, Jake, Peyton, Kameron, Gracie, Bricen, Benson, Shanci, Ariel, 
Derick, and Cash, and great-grandchildren, Beckham and Phoenix.

building a wonderful life together. She enjoyed many motorcycle trips 
with friends, traveling and camping with friends. She also enjoyed 
shopping, crafting, reading, playing cards at the lake and watching HGTV
 for ideas for the home and most of all loving her children and 
grandchildren. After retiring from Prime Operating, she moved to Lake 
Eufaula with her husband. Mindy is a graduate of Putnam City Original 
Class of '72 and had attended Arapahoe Community College in Colorado.Mindy is survived by her husband Ralph Campbell; mother Myrna; 
children: &nbsp;Luke Gregory (Theresa) Choctaw, OK, Christen Hannegan (Chad)

Melinda 'Mindy' (Gray) Campbell

Donald E. Ince, age 84, of Manhattan, died April 10, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his family.

He
 was born July 25, 1938, in Marysville, Kansas, the son of Robert K. and
 Doris H. (Tucker) Ince.  The family moved to Wamego shortly after Don 
was born.

Don grew up in Wamego and graduated from 
Wamego High School where he played on the football team, was the 
Homecoming King, and sang in the choir.  He was the first person to sing
 on WIBW and also sang for many weddings and funerals in the area.

He served in the United States Navy as a Sonar Technician and sang with the Navy Choir.

Don
 graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in business 
administration.  He worked for Manhattan Wholesale Meat Company and then
 was the owner for many years before retiring after 47 years of total 
service.

He was an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting, 
fishing, activities at the club, attending KSU sporting events, and 
spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Don
 was a member of the American Legion Post 17, Veterans of Foreign Wars 
Post # 1786, Manhattan Country Club for more than 55 years and served 
three years on the board of directors, a life member of the KSU Alumni 
Association, the Kansas NLC, served for 33 years on the board of 
directors and advisory board for Citizens State Bank and UMB Bank 
retiring in 2021, served for 17 years on the North American Meat 
Processors Board, three years on the Processing Advisory Board and three
 years on the Meat Purchasing Advisory Board of Golbon Food 
Distributors, and served on the Flint Hills Breadbasket golf tournament 
committee from inception.

He was married to Geraldine 
“Gerry” Thrash on December 29, 1962, in Manhattan.  Gerry survives of 
Manhattan.  Additional survivors include their three sons: Charles Ince 
of Wichita, KS, David Ince and his wife Stephanie and Ronald Ince of 
Manhattan; two siblings: Donna Kaus and her husband Charles of 
Manhattan, and Bill Ince and his wife Laurie of Broomfield, CO; five 
grandchildren: Donald Ray Ince (Nikki), David Michael Ince (Angie), 
Heather Mentel (Patrick), Tim Ince (Carly) and Tiffany Sanders (KJ) and 
11 great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly.

Memorial
 services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, April 14th, at the 
Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Chapel with Reverend Dr. Dennis 
Ackerman officiating.  The family will be available to greet visitors 
from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. prior to the service. Friends and family are 
invited to gather at the Manhattan Country Club following the service.

family by his side.  Born in Carol, Maine, to Percy and Gertrude 
(Robinson) Smith. 

He was drafted in to the Army where he served 2 years
 in Korea after returning home he got out of the Army realizing his love
 for his country, re-enlisted to serve a total of 24 years active duty. 
Time served in various stations across Europe, retiring as a 1st SGT. 
After his military retirement, he worked civil service for 15 years. 
Then moved onto managing the American Legion in Greenleaf, Kansas. He 
was an amazing cook and baker. He believed in duty first. He loved his
 country and his family. He enjoyed bowling with two 300 (perfect) 
games, working on vehicles, hunting, fishing, and never passed up a game
 of cards. 
Wilbur is preceded in death by his parents: brothers; Vernon, Randloph 
and Edward: sisters; Helen Shedd, Mary Phurde: step son: Mario Madrid: 
grandson; Garrit Wayne Smith; and many nieces and nephews. 
Survivors include his wife, Gloria: Son; Wilbur (Bill) Smith Jr.: 
daughter; Karen Burkholder (Donnie): stepsons; Joe Madrid (Jeanine) and

Allen Herbert Wood, age 84 of Wakefield, passed away Friday March 17, 2023, at Memorial Hospital in Abilene.

He was born near Wakefield, Kansas, on October 21, 1938, to Horace 
William Wood and Pauline Leticia (Vanderwilt) Wood.&nbsp; His older sister 
was Nelva (Wood) Peck of Sapulpa, Oklahoma.&nbsp; His younger sister was 
Carol (Wood) Ebert of Wamego, Kansas.&nbsp;

Allen’s parents and sisters preceded him in death.&nbsp;

He attended grade school at Sunny Slope Country School, a one room 
school, in rural Clay County near Wakefield. He graduated from High 
School in 1956 from Wakefield High School.&nbsp; He attended one year of 
college at Kansas State University.&nbsp;

On September 5, 1958, he married Arlene Louise Berry, who died on 
August 6, 2019.&nbsp; They had four children:&nbsp; Mark Allen (Lucy) of Colby, 
Kansas; David Benton (Becky) of Cody, Wyoming; Lori Sue Wood of Junction
 City, Kansas; and Amanda Lynne Fitzgeralds (Troy) of Abilene, Kansas.&nbsp; 
Allen and Arlene had twelve grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.&nbsp;

Except for managing Sanborn Lumber Company in the mid-1960’s, Allen 
was a farmer all his life.&nbsp; He raised cattle and produced wheat, corn, 
soybeans, and livestock feed.&nbsp; He was a talented, self- taught, mechanic
 and fabricator.&nbsp; He enjoyed hunting especially in Wyoming.&nbsp; Allen 
enjoyed collecting firearms, shooting targets, and reloading shells.&nbsp; 
For the holidays, he enjoyed making cranberry relish to share with 
family and friends.&nbsp; Allen owned many dogs in his life, but a border 
collie named Ginger was his last and most loved one.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Memorial Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 22nd, at the Milford Congregational Church with Pastor Dirk Westerman officiating.

Memorials may be made to the National Rifle Association (NRA) or the 
Milford Congregational Church and left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley

Rodney L. Leslie, 80, of Manhattan, passed away late on Tuesday,
 March 28th, 2023, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan.

Rodney
 Lee Leslie was born in Elkhart, Indiana on September 17, 1942, the son 
of the late Phyllis and Robert Leslie. He graduated from Elkhart High 
School. After graduation, he served in the US Army and retired as an E8 
working in Military Intelligence, and as a Correction officer for Riley 
County Law Enforcement, Manhattan, Kansas for over 22 years.

In
 1966, he was joined in marriage to Rose Earline Garretson and their 
marriage lasted for 56 years. They were married at the Defense Language 
Institute, &nbsp;Presidio of Monterey, California, formerly Ft. Ord.

Rodney
 is survived by his wife, Rose of their home; a daughter, Corinsa Leeann
 Keehn, of Lubbock, Texas; son, Ron Leslie, of Kansas City, Kansas; and 8
 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. &nbsp;Rod is preceded in death by 
his parents.

A graveside service will be held April 14,
 2023, at 2:00 at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery.&nbsp;In lieu of flowers,

Gerald W. Parrick

Betty (Schobinger) Mickelson passed away from this Earthly life on 
Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Eventide Sheyenne Crossings in West Fargo, 
ND. She was 89 years old. Betty Ann Elaine Davis was born on 
August 14, 1933, in Lisbon, ND, to parents Lawrence and Lela (Suhumskie)
 Davis, as the 7th of 8 children. At the age of 6 months old, her family
 was traveling to the funeral of her paternal grandmother when their car
 was struck, killing her father, Lawrence, and a brother, Neale. 
Following the accident, her family continued to live in Lisbon for a few
 years until moving to Fargo, ND. She attended school in the Fargo 
Public School system. On November 8, 1953, she married Robert 
E. Schobinger in Fargo, ND. Her primary focus was that of a Mom and 
housewife, caring for and raising their family of 7 children. She also 
helped in providing for the family by using her seamstress skills 
alongside her husband Bob in their business-B &amp; B Upholstery. 
Together, they also began selling Watkins Quality Products from their 
home. Their Watkins business became very successful, turning into a 
Distributorship. They were honored at a National Award Ceremony as 
the 3rd Largest Distributor in the nation for Group Sales in 1980. 
Shortly after this recognition, her husband, Bob, died unexpectedly in 
1981. On April 16, 1982, she married Wallace (Wally) Toso in 
Fargo, ND. In 1984, they purchased and ran Birchmere Family Resort on 
Little Toad Lake near Frazee, MN. They enjoyed many summers at the 
resort and began spending winters as snowbirds in the Phoenix, AZ area. 
Wally passed away in 1991. In the fall of 2009, Betty was 
re-introduced to A. G. "Mike" Mickelson. The two of them had originally 
met in 1949 at a rural Fargo Dance Hall and had dated for a few months 
before separating. They both parted their ways, marrying others and 
raising their families without knowing where the other had gone. After 
60 years apart, Betty and Mike rekindled their friendship and love and 
were married on November 18, 2009. They spent many winters in the Mesa, 
AZ area, and summers in Fargo. Mike preceded her in death in September 
2022. Betty is survived by her children, Lee (Judy) 
Schobinger, Sheldon, ND, Gail (Mounty) West, Peoria, AZ, Meri (Curtis) 
Thompson, Manhattan, KS, Susan (Rick) Meyer, Hiawatha, IA, and Robbie 
(Mavis) Schobinger, Oxbow, ND; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren;
 and numerous nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death 
by her parents, Lawrence &amp; Lela; her 7 siblings, Arlo Davis, 
Lorraine Scott, Dean Davis, Dale Davis (died in infancy), Neale Davis, 
Bobby Davis, and Dennis McFarland; her husbands, Robert E. Schobinger, 
Wallace Toso, and A. G. "Mike" Mickelson; 2 sons, Roger Evan Schobinger 
and Gene Lynn Schobinger; and 1 daughter-in-law, Kathie Schobinger. 
 Per Betty's request, there will not be a public service of remembrance.
 The family will be having a private burial ceremony on what would have 
been her 90th Birthday at Sunset Memorial Gardens.&nbsp;

before separating. They both parted their ways, marrying others and 
raising their families without knowing where the other had gone. After 
60 years apart, Betty and Mike rekindled their friendship and love and 
were married on November 18, 2009. They spent many winters in the Mesa, 
AZ area, and summers in Fargo. Mike preceded her in death in September 
2022. Betty is survived by her children, Lee (Judy) 
Schobinger, Sheldon, ND, Gail (Mounty) West, Peoria, AZ, Meri (Curtis) 
Thompson, Manhattan, KS, Susan (Rick) Meyer, Hiawatha, IA, and Robbie 
(Mavis) Schobinger, Oxbow, ND; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren;
 and numerous nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death 
by her parents, Lawrence &amp; Lela; her 7 siblings, Arlo Davis, 
Lorraine Scott, Dean Davis, Dale Davis (died in infancy), Neale Davis, 
Bobby Davis, and Dennis McFarland; her husbands, Robert E. Schobinger, 
Wallace Toso, and A. G. "Mike" Mickelson; 2 sons, Roger Evan Schobinger 
and Gene Lynn Schobinger; and 1 daughter-in-law, Kathie Schobinger. 
 Per Betty's request, there will not be a public service of remembrance.
 The family will be having a private burial ceremony on what would have 
been her 90th Birthday at Sunset Memorial Gardens.&nbsp;

CSM (RET) George S. Bowman Jr., age 76, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away 
on Monday, March 20, 2023, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas. 
Cremation has taken place. A graveside service with full military honors

Cemetery with Will Ravenstein officiating.

L. Jon McManis passed away April 2, 2023, in Allen, Texas at the age 
of 74. He was born to Alex and Helen (Ensign) McManis on April 5, 1948,&nbsp; in Manhattan, Kansas.

Jon graduated from Manhattan High School in 
1966. He attended Kansas State University. He worked as a DJ in Kansas 
and South Dakota, and as a video production engineer for TV stations in 
Kansas City. He then started his own company in 1977, Video Productions Inc., which would later become Midwest Video Inc. Jon sold the company 
in 1984, and the family moved to Dallas, and he went to work for Allied 
Film and Video. Jon changed industries and bought into a scrapyard, 
eventually running his own company, MC3 Metals Recycling and Disposal 
for the past 15 years.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda McManis;
 son, Bob McManis and wife, Elba; grandson, Jack McManis; sister, Mary 
McManis Stamey and husband, Bob; and numerous cousins, nieces, and 
nephews.

Jon was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Helen McManis, and brother, Larry McManis.

A
 visitation was Friday April 7, 
2023, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. A 
memorial service will be held at a later date in Kansas.

L. Jon McManis

Brent Claymore Morrill, 88, of Manhattan, Kansas, passed away at home 
on April 9, 2023.  He was born on June 9, 1934, in Tridell, Utah, one of 
11 children born to Horace LeRoy Morrill and Clara Elizabeth Barrett.

Brent
 was raised in a loving family where he was taught to work hard. There 
were always chores to do including milking cows and working in the 
garden and fields.  Even though he was a child of the Great Depression, 
and electricity didn’t come into their home until he was almost six, nor
 did the family ever share a family vacation all together because no car
 was big enough for thirteen people, Brent never thought he missed out 
in life. He hiked and fished, and played marbles and jacks, and roamed 
the hills on horseback. Then with the help of his two older brothers, 
Horace and Ralph, he was able to purchased his first horse, “Shorty” 
when they returned home from serving in World War II.

In
 high school, Brent participated in FFA and raised a grand champion 
steer.  He also played basketball and football and was elected Student 
Body President of the newly consolidated Union High School in Roosevelt,
 Utah his senior year, graduating in Union’s first class in 1952.

Brent
 attended Utah State University for two years prior to being drafted 
into the United States Army.  He spent the majority of his time in 
Germany, and planned to go back to college when he returned. But, he had
 his eye on his “sweetheart” Ila Manwaring from Naples, Utah, and they 
got married six months after he returned on June 20, 1957, in the Salt 
Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He 
joined a Salt Lake City Painting Company, Bodily, Inc and painted with 
them for over 50 years, mostly on Army and Air Force bases. A project at
 Fort Riley brought them to Kansas in March of 1968 and they never left, 
making Manhattan their home and the place they raised their three 
children: Norlene, Gary, and Maria. After he put down his paint brush, 
he was far from retirement and since 2014 has worked as janitor and 
all-around handyman at Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging only leaving in 
February due to his health.

Brent was very 
active in the local Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has 
served in a variety of positions including a counselor in the Bishopric,
 Scoutmaster, seminary teacher, primary teacher and priesthood leader.  
But it was finding ways to be of service to his family, neighbors, and 
friends, without them knowing, that brought him the greatest joy.

Brent
 believed in being honest with yourself and your associates, and loving 
the Lord, your family and others.  He is survived by his wife, Ila M. 
Morrill, three children Norlene (David) Gowdy of Buena Vista, Virginia, 
Gary Morrill of Cottonwood Heights, Utah, and Maria (Robert) Bailey of 
Sandy, Utah; fourteen grandchildren, and twenty-seven 
great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by two sisters, Isola Haslem, 
and Lou Ann (Norman) Angus, and one brother, Callis (Lynette).  He was 
preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Horace, Sharon, Max,
 Ralph, and Lawrence and two sisters, Clara Walhquist and Lynn Hardy.

Funeral
 services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 13th, at the Church
 of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2812 Marlatt Avenue, Manhattan, 
KS.  Interment will follow in the Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery at Fort 
Riley.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. Thursday in the Relief Society Room at the church prior to the service.

Brent C. Morrill

Joseph Harvey Kejr, 64, of Brookville, Kan., passed away on Saturday,
 April 8, 2023, in his home. He was born on February 16, 1959, in Salina,
 Kan., to Harry and Rosella (Balzer) Kejr. 

On May 24, 1986, he was joined in marriage with Geena Sanneman at First Covenant Church in Salina.

Joe
 actively lived out the Fruits of the Spirit in his journey of Christian
 faith. He was passionate about serving others and over the last several
 years, enjoyed spreading God’s love to the El Cuje community in 
Guatemala. 

He was a third generation farmer, taking over Kejr 
Farms from his father, which has since expanded in scale and scope and 
now includes members of the 4th and 5th generation of the family. Joe 
served on the board of At Stake Ministries from its inception, served on
 many church committees, was a member of the Kansas Association of Wheat
 Growers, National Wheat Foundation, and served in the Kansas State 
Legislature. 

In his spare time, he loved being around family, 
traveling, restoring vehicles, creating experiences for others, hosting 
agritourism groups from all over the world, supporting sports teams, and
 taking naps on Sunday afternoon.&nbsp;

Survivors include his wife 
Geena, of almost 37 years; children Robyn Bunch (Matt), of Boston, 
Mass., Josh Kejr (Brittany), of Salina, and Michelle Kejr, of Manhattan;
 grandchildren Cynthia and Gianna Kejr; siblings Steve Kejr (Carol), 
Bernice Omli, Larry Kejr (Susan), and Mel Kejr (Janet); brother-in-law 
Al Zink; mother-in-law Eloise Sanneman; sister-in-law Greta Frank 
(Jerry); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.&nbsp;

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister Rosalie Zink; brother-in-law John Omli; and father-in-law Warren Sanneman.&nbsp;

Visitation
 will be from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, April 12, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, 
with the family present from 4-6. A graveside committal service will be

Ronald S. Gross, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed 
away peacefully at his home in St. Marys, Kansas, on April 10, 2023, at 
the age of 80. He was surrounded by his loving wife of 53 years, Jane, 
who remained by his side until the end.

Ronald was born on June 29, 1942, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Joseph 
and Lorraine Gross. He spent his childhood in East Allis and graduated 
from Pius XI High School in 1961. After completing his education, Ronald
 enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in South Korea and
 Germany, where he served his country with pride.

In 1970, Ronald married the love of his life, Jane Futterlieb. 
Together, they enjoyed a happy and adventurous life, traveling across 
the United States, Canada, and Europe. Ronald worked as a truck driver 
for most of his life, primarily for Union Carbide and Praxair.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lorraine, and
 his two sons, Joseph and Christopher. He is survived by his beloved 
wife, Jane; his daughter, Marion (Charles) LeSage; daughters-in-law, 
Jeanette Gross and Katrina Gross; five grandsons and five 
granddaughters. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

The Rev. James “Warren” Turner, 86, of East Peoria, Ill., passed away on Friday, 
April 7, 2023, at Liberty Village Manor Court of Peoria, Ill. 

He was born on 
February 17, 1937, in Mexico, Missouri to Elbert, Sr. and Clarissa 
(Cash) Turner. In 1958, he married Helen McVeigh; she survives. They 
divorced and on March 14, 1982 he married his wife of 41 years, Barbara 
Farquhar Williams; she survives. He is also survived by his 
children, Greg (Monika) Turner of Granger, IN and Rebecca (Dan) Dominic 
of Peoria; his stepson, Daryl (Terri) Williams of Manhattan, KS; his 
brother, Elbert (Meryldee) Turner of Agency, Mo; his sister, Chris Zogg 
of Bloomington; 9 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren, and several 
nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a niece (Leslie Heckman) and a nephew (Luke Woodson). 
 Warren was raised in Missouri. He graduated from Mexico High School, 
Class of 1955. He obtained a BS in Agriculture from the University of 
Missouri, Columbia in 1959 and a Bachelors of Divinity from Missouri 
School of Religion in Columbia in 1964. In 1971, he received his Masters
 in Religious Education, also from the Missouri School of Religion. He 
was an ordained minister for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) 
and served at churches in Missouri, Illinois, Kansas, and Colorado. He 
was currently a member of the First Christian Church of Peoria. 
Warren played the guitar, mandolin and the ukelele. For 35 years, he 
sang as a baritone for many different Barbershop choruses, including the
 Pride of Peoria Barbershop Chorus. He was also an avid sportsman and 
loved to hunt. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on 
Friday, April 14, 2023, at the First Christian Church of Peoria, with 
visitation at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Rev. 
Karen Merrick will officiate. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 
a.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at New Salem Cemetery in Creal 
Springs, IL. Gary Deiters Funeral Home &amp; Cremation Services is

28th, 2023.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Shannon was born in Grand Rapids, MI on May 7, 1986, the 
daughter of Tina (Stewart) Jones, of Michigan and Larry Sawyer.&nbsp; 

Shannon
 worked for Express Employment as a banquet server.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She is survived by 
her husband, Harley David Blair;&nbsp;daughter, Mya Oros, of Michigan;&nbsp;three 
sons, Hayden Oros, of Michigan;  Harley Blair, Jr., of Manhattan;  Kane 
Blair, also of Manhattan.&nbsp;

Barbara L. Agnew, 58, of Clay Center, Kansas died Thursday, April 6, 
2023, at the Clay County Medical Center in Clay Center.&nbsp; She was born on 
August 18, 1964, in Beloit, Kansas, the daughter of D Edward and Esther 
(Fobes) Walter.

Barbara grew up in Beloit, Kansas, graduating from Beloit High School
 in 1982.&nbsp; She then attended Fort Hays State University, graduating in 
1986.&nbsp; Barbara married Robert Agnew on March 21, 1992.&nbsp; She was a 
graphic designer for PETCO, Sweet Tomatoes and designed Pillow Pets for 
CJ Products.&nbsp; Barbara also did freelance graphic design and most 
recently rebranded the City of Clay Center and KCLY logos.&nbsp; She was a 
member of the Clay Center Country Club and Friends of the Clay Center 
Library. &nbsp;She is preceded in death by her parents.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Robert Agnew of Clay Center, 
Kansas; daughters, Payton Agnew of Missoula, Montana and Madison Agnew 
of San Francisco, California; sisters, Joan and husband, Jerry Orr of 
Clay Center, Kansas and Donna Morrell of Beloit, Kansas and brother, Jim
 Walter of Beloit, Kansas.
