MSG (RET) Phillip E. Leamons, 76, of Junction City, Kansas, passed away on June 8, 2023. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home. A graveside service with full military honors will take place on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Legion Post #45, 201 E. 4th Street, Junction City, Kansas 66441.
He was born on November 17, 1946, in Manning, Arkansas, to Marvin and Velma (Arnold) Leamons.
Phillip served in the United States Army for 27 years. After active duty retirement, he obtained his bachelor's degree in Business Administration at Manhattan Christian College. He continued his career on Fort Riley as a Human Resource Specialist for over 20 years.
On May 18, 1974, he married Sandra Leamons in Bartonville, Illinois. They were married almost 50 years. Phillip was an avid bowler and enjoyed coaching youth bowling in Junction City and Fort Riley. He was a member of American Legion Post #45 and American Bowling Association. Phillip's favorite past time was teaching his grandchildren ways to torment their mothers. He also never went anywhere without a book.
Phillip is survived by his loving wife, Sandra; his three daughters, Tanya Carpenter of Junction City, Kansas, Deborah (Douglas) Minner of Hutchinson, Kansas, Ann (Blake) Klug of Cedarburg, Wisconsin; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one sister, Sheila (Marty) Somerville of Fort Smith, Arkansas; and a host of extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his two siblings, Clayton "Tony" and Sharon; and his daughter, Marina.
