&nbsp; Judy E. Smith, 67, of Manhattan, Kansas formerly of Junction City, Kansas passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan, Kansas. Judy was born on December 9, 1956, Junction City, Kansas the daughter of Ted and Chlora (Connolly) Bridges. Judy lived in Beacon, Iowa from 2016 until 2021. Judy worked for Geary Community Hospital in the laundry department. She enjoyed bingo and listening to Elvis. Everyone knew Judy by her jewelry. She liked the glitz and bling with jewelry. Most of all she enjoyed cooking her famous pork chops and spending time with her dogs. 

Judy was very proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She married George L. Smith February 14, 1976 in Junction City, Kansas. George died June 10, 2023. Judy is survived by two daughters, Mary L. Pope of Junction City, Kansas and Julie E. Smith of Junction City, KS; four grandchildren, Tyler M. Pope of Oskaloosa, Iowa, Nicholas R. Pope of Beacon, Iowa, Nathaniel L. Smith and Kaylie Snyder both of Junction City, Kansas; three great-grandchildren, Mazikeen Jolene Pope, Remington Dean Pope and Alexandra Petrova Pope; one brother, Terry Estes of Onaga, Kansas; one sister, Pamela Keene of Junction City, Kansas. &nbsp; Peggy Marie Sorensen was born February 2, 1943 in Belleville Kansas, Peggy departed this earthly life August 6th, 2024 at her home in Abilene. Peggy had recently talked about seeing her parents Viola and Virgil White in heaven.

Peggy had two older sisters, Phyllis and Barbara. Peggy was united in marriage on May 27, 1962 to Robert Sorensen. Peggy and Bob lived in Emporia for four years. In 1966 Abilene became their new home. The last several years Peggy's entertainment was taking day trips in the car. Many times she commented “isn’t Abilene a nice town”.Peggy was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, her in-laws, aunts and uncles. She is survived by her husband Robert, nephews and cousins. 

Peggy loved nature, especially birds and animals, Peggy and Bob lived on their “hobby farm” by Brown’s Park for 43 years where Peggy enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens. Bob and Peggy were married for 62 years and 2 months, Bob will truly miss his partner and companion. Cremation has been selected and there will be no local services. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date in Belleville, Kansas.

Peggy Marie Sorenson

&nbsp; SGM (RET) Ronald Wayne Eckhardt, 81, of Junction City, Kansas, went to his peace with the Almighty on August 5, 2024, in his home. He was born on September 23, 1942, in Billings, Montana, the eldest child of Carl and Olinda (Hilderman) Eckhardt. He grew up in Billings and attended local schools, graduating from Billings Senior High School in 1960. He attended Eastern Montana College (MSU-Billings).

Ron entered the regular Army and retired from active duty on May 1, 1987, with the rank of Sergeant Major with 23 years of service. He married the love of his life, In Suk Kim, on August 26, 1975, in Seoul, Korea.

During his military career, he was stationed at several U.S. bases, as well as stations in Germany four times, Korea two times and Vietnam three times. He was awarded numerous medals and decorations including the Bronze Star Medal with two Oak Leaf clusters, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, and seven Good Conduct Medals. During and after his military service, he attended State University of New York - Albany and Kansas State University. After his military retirement, he was employed as an Information Systems Business Analyst, Kansas Farm Bureau Services, Manhattan, Kansas, until his retirement in 2003. He has lived in Junction City since 1982.He was a long standing member of the American Legion Post #45.

Ron enjoyed his German-Russian heritage and extended Eckhardt/Hilderman family history. He continued his genealogy research into his retirement. Most importantly, he was especially proud of his wife, children and grandchildren. Survivors include his loving wife, In Suk Eckhardt of the home; son, Kevin Eckhardt of Scottsdale, Arizona; daughter, Erika (Jeremy) McAdams of Ankeny, Iowa; three grandchildren, Copeland Eckhardt, Harper McAdams, and Dylan McAdams; sister, Diane Tatro of Tucumcari, New Mexico.

(Walters) Grove of Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania. A military wife married to SFC Vernon Ball on July 20, 1957, lived in Junction City, Kansas for 46 years.

Jean had various jobs: Nurses Aid, Maternity Nurses Aid, K-mart, Walmart, Alco, Ice Cream Factory, Food-For-Less, Daycare Worker for United Methodist Church and Dollar Tree Cashier for 13 years. She and her husband were members of the United Methodist Church and members of the Masonic Lodge. She belonged to the Order of Eastern Star

.Jean was loved dearly by her children and many people in Junction City. She maintained her kindness, grace, compassion, appreciation of beauty, love of family and friends, and expressed gratitude for her long life, full of wonderful and varied experiences. She cared about the needs of others before her own needs. She lived her life as a caregiver. She was such a wonderful, graceful and dignified woman. She enjoyed driving, traveling, dancing, laughing, and diamond painting. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Ball; parents, Sherin and Mary Grove; brother, Gaylord Grove and sister, Shirley Hodges. She is survived by her brother, Jim Grove of Leesburg, Florida; three daughters, Victoria Sayhi of Orlando, Florida, Elaine Head and her husband Donald Head of Texas, Janet White and her husband Tony White of Junction City, Kansas; a son, Duane Ball and his wife Young Ball of Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Saschaette Tillier, Nathan Meeks, John Meeks, Jamie Ball, and Matthew Ball, David Ball; two nieces, Robin Leri and Sandy Frazier; and one nephew, Johnny Hodges.

A visitation will take place on Friday, August 30, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by a funeral ceremony at the Johnson Funeral Home. A graveside service at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery with full military honors will follow.

Red was born in Cave City, Kentucky to Kenneth Oldham and Alegra Boyd on August 19, 1947.After graduating from high school, Red joined the U.S. Army in 1965, where he was stationed in West Germany until 1968. During this time a buddy of his introduced him to his future wife, Brenda of Mount Union, Pennsylvania. After dating Brenda for several months, they were married on July 4, 1969. After several years, Red rejoined the U.S. Army in 1974, where he had several duty stations to include: Fort Meade, Maryland; Fort Ritchie, Maryland; Wiesbaden and Wuerzburg, West Germany and finally Fort Riley, Kansas. Through his many duty stations he enjoyed coaching men's basketball and youth sports to include both basketball and football

.Red and Brenda had two sons, Marcus and Travis. They enjoyed going to many sporting events with their father which continued throughout their adulthood. Red retired from the U.S. Army, July of 1989. After his military service he began working with kids in juvenile detention. In 1999, he began working as a prisoner transport officer and continued until completely retiring in 2013. After this second retirement, Red could be found enjoying one of his favorite hobbies, fishing.

Red and Brenda had five grandchildren whom he loved and supported with many of their school and sporting events.

He was preceded by his mother and father, two brothers, and one sister. His memory will be carried on by his loving wife of 55 years, Brenda, two sons; five grandchildren, Nikki, Lloyd, Elijah, Angel, and Ashad; one great-grandson, Atlas and a host of young men he welcomed into his family. Family is what he lived by. If you had the chance to spend time with him, you would know how much he cared. The laughs, jokes, and the occasional cuss words all came from the heart. He will truly be missed.&nbsp;&nbsp;

&nbsp; SFC (RET) Clarence Ray Thompson, 92, of Junction City, Kansas passed away on August 4, 2024, at Via Christi Village, Manhattan, Kansas. Ray was born on August 12, 1931, to Clarence H. Thompson and Edna (West) Thompson at Montezuma, Indiana. There he graduated from Frankfurt High School. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Army on January 10, 1949, at Camp Breckenridge, Kentucky. He served in Berlin, Korea, and Vietnam. While in the military, he attended the University of Michigan for two years. He retired from the military on February 28, 1980 at Fort Riley, Kansas after 24 years of active military service.

Ray worked civil service for 13 years in the housing office on Fort Riley as an inspector. He also volunteered at the Irwin Army Community Hospital as the liaison for the American Red Cross, Fort Riley for 22 years. He was a member of NARFE, DAV, VVA, VFW, American Legion, Union Lodge #7 in Junction City, 40/8, Isis Shrine of Junction City/Salina, Fort Riley Shrine Club of J.C. Mini Wheels Classic Car, and The Open Door.

Ray earned many awards during his lifetime. Some of these awards include three times Red Cross Volunteer of the Year Award (One time from General Hamm), Red Cross 2016: Tribute to Hero's Lifetime Achievement Award, Commanders Award for Outstanding Public Service 2008, Multiple awards from the Red Cross and 1st IN DIV, and in 2022, The Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award.

Ray is survived by two daughters, Lori Dodd and Kim Holton of Jacksonville, Florida; one son, Steven Thompson; one brother, Paul Thompson of Surprise, Arizona; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews; Debbi and Jack Freeman of Junction City, Kansas and their girls who remained Ray's friend throughout his years living in Junction City. He is preceded by his loving parents; four brothers, Harold, Charles, Jimmy, and Chuck Thompson; one sister, Thelma Blizzard; one son, Mark Thompson; one grandson, Bobby Dodd and his loving wife, Margaret Fisher.

&nbsp; Adriana M. "A.D." Washington, 44, of Junction City, Kansas passed away on August 3, 2024, at Stormont Vail - Flint Hills Campus. A visitation will take place on Saturday, August 10, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Johnson &amp; Mass-Hinitt Funeral Home. Cremation will follow.

Adriana was born on December 4, 1979, to Keith and Johanna Marie (Essex) Johnson in South Carolina. She married her loving husband, James in October 25, 1999, while living in Cleveland, Ohio. They shared 23 years of marriage together and had three sons and two daughters. Being a military spouse, she had to leave her home of Ohio and make a new life with her family in Junction City. 

While living here, she made her home for her family where they shared many memories together. Some favorites to include her famous lemon drops, her contagious smiles, and dance moves. Adriana was a very caring, kindhearted woman who took care of her family. She will be missed by both her loving family and the friends she left behind.

She is survived by her husband, James; three sons, Taevon Washington, Arrion Washington, and Kyng Johnson; one daughter, Gabriel Washington; one sister, Quiana Essex; one brother, Michael and many other loving family and friends. Archie was born March 2, 1943, in Brockton, Massachusetts the son of Arthur W. and Constance (Rodrigues) Moore, Sr. Archie served twenty four and a half years in the United States Army. He served two tours in Vietnam and spent time in Germany. He retired at the rank of Master Sergeant. 

Archie was awarded many awards, honors, and special recognitions for his service. He received his associates degree from Central Texas College.&nbsp; Archie started his sobriety journey December 29, 1985. He was sober thirty eight years, six months, twenty seven days for a total of 14,089 days. He helped hundreds of people with their sobriety walk throughout the years all across the world. On a local level, Archie spent many hours leading many Alcoholic Anonymous Meetings in Junction City, Geary County and Fort Riley.

Over the years, Archie was a die hard sports fan. He rooted on all teams from Boston. He proudly supported his Boston sports teams by wearing appropriate swag and sporting their flag on his car.He had a love for bowling, fishing and running. He would always tease people he was training for the Boston Marathon. He was a known collector. His collection included coins, stamps, sports cards and sports memorabilia. Archie was a charitable giver to numerous charitable organizations. He loved helping people and communicating his love through letters and cards that he would send. He never missed a friend or family members birthday, anniversary or special event.

Archie was known for his sense of humor, smile, kindness and his Bostonian accent. He will be remembered for his quirky phrases, "Oh Yeah" "You Bet Ya" "That's All Right" "That's So Neat" and "Kiddo". He was a father, grandfather, brother and a friend to everyone he met. He had a special relationship with Jamie Dodd that will forever be cherished. &nbsp; Gerald Eugene Duerksen, age 81, of Abilene, Kansas, passed away on July 25, 2024, at Village Manor Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family. 

Born on September 16, 1942, in Hillsboro, Kansas Gerald lived a life marked by his commitment to his faith and family. After graduating from Lehigh Rural High School, Gerald began farming and raising livestock outside of Lehigh until 1983. Life circumstances then took him on a different path as he returned to college to pursue a degree in social work from Bethel College. 

His new career as a social worker for SRS in Abilene and surrounding communities allowed him to touch the lives of many children and families, making a significant impact through his compassionate service.

On January 10, 1975, Gerald married Jane Littrell in McPherson, Kansas. This union joined Gerald’s daughters and son with Jane’s daughter and son. They added to their family welcoming two daughters of their own. Their marriage was a source of great joy and companionship throughout their 49 years together. Gerald was a member of First Christian Church Abilene where he found community and continued to grow his faith. He especially enjoyed meeting with other men from the church for weekly coffee - a tradition that brought him much happiness and camaraderie. 

Gerald dedicated his life to Christ at a young age and frequently told his children and grandchildren that developing a relationship with Christ and accepting him as Lord and Savior was the most important decision of their lives. His love and commitment to his family were evident in everything he did. He spent many hours in gyms, on ball fields, tennis courts, and golf courses attending as many games or programs of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as he was able.

Gerald didn’t know a stranger and was known for his great sense of humor. He delighted in ornery jokes and ribbing that would often bring laughter and joy to those around him. His legacy of hard work, faith, and compassion will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jane Duerksen; his children: Shannon (Todd) Davis, Sherri Duerksen, Craig (Megan) Duerksen, Jeff (Diane) Lindteigen, Angie (Rick) Vlasin, Rebecca (Kris) Kobiskie, and Stephanie (Kyle) Becker; his 15 grandchildren (Hunter, Morgan, Lauren, Scott, Sean, Talby, Annie, Meghan, Kris, Marcus, Elliott, Matigan, Kaleb, Kyson, Kolt); and his 3 great-grandchildren (Brailen, Landrie, Lowry) as well as his brother, Gary (Janet) Duerksen and sister, Laura Bishop;. Marvin was born on September 8, 1965, in Axtell, KS, the son of Raymond and Dorothy (Walters) Deters. He attended schools in Seneca graduating from Nemaha Valley High School, Highland Community College and Kansas State University.

On April 25, 1992, he married the love of his life, Danita Goeckel, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hanover, KS.

He began working at Reeves-Wiedeman in 1996, working his way up to branch manager in 2005. He enjoyed working with Jim and Kevin on the day-to-day operations of the branch and helping everyone that came through the doors. For him: RW, his co-workers, and customers felt like a second family.

He was proud of his sons, Ryan and Eric, and was involved in their lives through Boy Scouts, coaching, school events and sporting events, and teaching many life lessons.

Marvin was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church and an active member of the Knights of Columbus. Recently, he was honored to become a 4th Degree Knight.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister Connie, grandparents, father and mother in-law, Leo and Mary (Martin) Goeckel.

Survivors include his wife, Danita, of the home in Manhattan, his sons: Ryan Deters of Lenexa and Eric Deters of Roeland Park; Marvin was close to his brothers Tom Deters (Julene) of Baileyville, Wayne Deters (Stacy) of Springfield, MO, and Vern Deters, of Seneca; his other siblings Carl Deters (Frannie), of Carbondale, Kathleen Houser, of Topeka, Susan Huninghake (Galen), of Baileyville, Geraldine Staley (Steve), of Centralia and Betty Deters, of Seneca; his in-laws, Dianne Garber (Chuck), of Hanover, Connie Ronnebaum (Alan), of Axtell, Ron Goeckel, of Hanover, Phyllis Ohlde (Andrew), of Linn and Lisa Schwarz (Stuart), of Wamego; and his many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs, Royals, and Kansas Jayhawks fan. He would even tolerate the Kansas State Wildcats for his wife, family, and friends. He was a family man with a big heart, a sports guru, enjoyed seeking a good bargain, playing cards or board games, a handyman, had an excellent memory and math skills, and was an informative weatherman.

His kindness and generosity touched the lives of many, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The family will greet friends during a visitation from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday August 2, 2024 at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan. The Parish Vigil with the Rosary will be held at 7:00p.m. at the funeral home following the visitation.

Long time Manhattan resident, Leland A. Moshier, “Mo” 105, died at Good Shepherd Homecare and Hospice on July 21, 2024.

Mr. Moshier was born on April 25, 1919, in Manhattan, KS. The second of ten children.

He enlisted in the Army when World War II started and was on Omaha Beach on D-Day, Normandy, France.

He met his future wife, Kathleen McNeill, in North Carolina, after his discharge from the military. They were married on September 12, 1946, in Manhattan, KS.

He worked as a plumber and pipefitter in Manhattan and for several years in Columbia, Missouri. Leland was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Manhattan, and the American Legion and VFW in Manhattan.

Leland was preceded in death by his wife Kathleen, his parents Elsie May Hanlin and George L. Moshier, and eight brothers and sisters.

He is survived by one sister, Mary Lou Little and his niece Barbara Anderson and her husband Bill of Randolph, plus many other nieces and nephews.

The family will greet friends during a visitation from 7:00 until 8:00p.m. Tuesday July 30, 2024, at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan.

Gary Francis Collette; son of Ronnel and Phylis Collette, passed away peacefully in his home on June 22, 2024 in Manhattan, Kansas. Gary was born on September 2, 1949 to Ronnel and Phillis Collette.

Gary was proceeded in death by his mother and father, Ronnel Sr. and Phylis Collette, his brother Brian, sister Joyce, son William "Billy", brother-in-law Steve, ex-wife Lisa and granddaughter Sage.&nbsp;

He is survived by his siblings; Larry, Jerry, Mary-Beth, Kayanne, Linda, Mark, Ronnel Junior, and Judy. He is also survived by his sons Darrin, Randy, Tony and his daughter Rosa Walker; his grand-children Hannah, Parker, Noah, Brecklyn, Carli, Haven, Alexa, Desmand, Freddy, Lyndon, Nathan and Brian; his great-grandchildren Carter, Alaycia, Becket, and Ember.&nbsp;

Gary will be remembered for his honorable service in the military from 1969-1971, during the war in Vietnam.

He was a father, father-in-law, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Gary also spent his time here on Earth as a ranch hand, restaurant owner, meat packing plant worker, Salvation Army volunteer bell ringer, and a Santa Clause. But most of all, he will be remembered as a giver, great friend to others, especially if they were a stranger on the street.&nbsp;

He is also survived by his sons Darrin, Randy, Tony and his daughter Rosa Walker; his grand-children Hannah, Parker, Noah, Brecklyn, Carli, Haven, Alexa, Desmand, Freddy, Lyndon, Nathan and Brian; his great-grandchildren Carter, Alaycia, Becket, and Ember.&nbsp;Gary will be remembered for his honorable service in the military from 1969-1971, during the war in Vietnam.He was a father, father-in-law, grandfather, and great grandfather.Gary also spent his time here on Earth as a ranch hand, restaurant owner, meat packing plant worker, Salvation Army volunteer bell ringer, and a Santa Clause. But most of all, he will be remembered as a giver, great friend to others, especially if they were a stranger on the street.&nbsp;

&nbsp; Kenneth (Kenny) Charles Longhofer, 78, of rural Chapman, Kansas, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2024. He was born on July 22, 1946, in Herington, Kansas, to Kenneth and Betty Longhofer. Kenny was a 1964 graduate of Dickinson County Community High School.

Kenny had a deep passion for farming, dedicating his entire life caring for his homestead south of Chapman. For more than 30 years, he proudly served the Logan Township as Clerk while providing road maintenance and repairs (known as “Maintainer Man” among his friends and family). He enjoyed traveling to visit family and friends, often incorporating new restaurants, museums, and historical sites in his adventures. 

Kenny was an avid reader and enjoyed music and growing flowers, taking the most pride in his hollyhocks. He was known for his gift of gab, long-winded stories, and sense of humor, always finding an excuse to visit the local Coop to catch up on the latest happenings. 

Kenny is survived by his wife of 54 years, Melody; daughters Beth, Shawnee (Gayle Worley), and Kerry Patterson (Darrell); brother Keith (Donna); and sister Rita (Steve Crossett); and his furry grandkids Hank, Jersey, Holly, Bella, Nyx, and Moxie. He was preceded in death by his parents Kennth and Betty Longhofer.

The family extends their gratitude to those who ensured Kenny’s harvest and fall field preparations were completed. &nbsp; Clara A. Wilbanks 72 of Salina passed away Sunday July 21, 2024, at the Salina Regional Health Center. Clara was born March 7, 1952, in Denver Colorado to Clarence and Anna (Sack) Herrman. After graduating from high school Clara attended Beauty School and worked in a floral shop. Ralph and Clara were married on April 22, 1972. They had one daughter the following year. They moved from Thorton, Colorado out to Brighton Colorado where they enjoyed spending time with their horses and animals. 

Clara enjoyed driving and riding her horses until she became ill. She worked in many places, but retired from a long career in Adams County government as a telecommunications specialist overseeing a large phone line and greeting people as they came in. Clara and Ralph where also members of the Adams County Fair and Rodeo Committee where they were involved in the parades, rodeos and anywhere they were needed. Clara was also a 20 plus year 4-H leader for Adams County. She enjoyed helping kids learn how to ride and show their horses. Ralph and Clara were involved in the fair queens as well when their daughter got involved in 1989 and then as queen in 1991. She was a long-time member of the American Quarter Horse Association and a life member of the American Paint Horse Association. After Clara stopped riding, she would go with her daughter to the Rodeos as she competed on her horses. 

Having a couple qualifiers in the Breakaway Roping and the most recently the Select Barrel Racing. Mrs. Wilbanks was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and Eucharistic Minister. In 2023 moving to Abilene Kansas and finally to Salina, Kansas. To be with her daughter and her husband. Clara was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Ralph. Many Uncles and Aunts. Clara is survived by her daughter Colette Stoudt her husband Jim Stoudt of Abilene, her sisters Mary Renke of Brighton CO, Patty Ducey-Brooks of San Diego, CA, and Kathy Meier (Ken Meier of Fort Collins, CO as well as two step grandchildren.

Rae Jean Hunt, 82, of Manhattan, KS, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2024, surrounded by loved ones, after a valiant battle with cancer.

Rae Jean, loving nicknamed “RJ” by her grandchildren, was born June 1, 1942, to Ralph and Ruth Opie in Great Bend, KS. She earned a degree in Elementary Education from Kansas State University, and taught third grade before meeting her soulmate, Melvin “Hunter” Hunt.

She was an extraordinary homemaker. Together, she and Hunter raised two daughters, spending countless hours at softball fields, 4-H events, and dozens of volunteer activities. She passed her love of reading and baking to her girls. International travel was Rae Jean’s passion. She and Hunter explored the world together, reveling in its wonders, and discovered their favorite experience - the great migration through the Serengeti in Africa. Rae Jean loved all things K-State and spent a lifetime cheering on the Cats. She took great pride in keeping their yard looking professionally manicured, was an avid Sudoku puzzler, and never passed up a game of dominos.

Rae Jean is survived by her husband of 58 years, Hunter; sister Roberta Bartlett of Larned, KS; daughter Paige (Tim) VandeGiessen of Vicksburg, MI, granddaughters Bailey and Megan; Holly (Dave) Tuma of Birnamwood, WI, grandchildren Abby (James), Dylan (Addison), and Drew (Echo); great grandchildren Mia, Eva, and Oakland.

Clara Ellen Bach, age 84, of Manhattan KS died on April 25th, 2024 at Meadowlark Hills Nursing Home while two of her daughters were praying the rosary to guide her home.

She was born August 12th, 1939 in Haviland KS, the oldest child of Gilbert &amp; Leona “May” (Rose) Yohn. Clara graduated from Greensburg High School in 1957. She attended Kansas State University where she studied nuclear engineering until she met her late husband Lawrence Leon Bach. They married October 3rd, 1959 and had 57 happy years until his death in 2016. She lived most of her adult life in Blue Rapids, KS until 2002 when she moved to Flush, KS and then to Manhattan, KS in 2016.

Clara was an integral part in making the Bach Farm in Blue Rapids KS successful. She was a dedicated mother, attending every school event of her children without fail. She could often be found plowing the fields, cutting alfalfa, going to the market to purchase and sell farm animals, growing a Victory Garden, and sewing clothing or quilts. She enjoyed reading the newspaper daily and loved to read books through the end of her life. She was also an avid member of her church organizations, the Red Hat Club, and volunteered at the Blue Rapids Public Library. Later in life, she enjoyed many years snow birding in Arizona and was a founding member of the Oregon Trail Sams Camping Club.

Survivors includer her six children; Michael Bach of Tampa, Florida, John Bach and wife Beth of Wichita, Kansas, Philip Bach and his wife Kenda of Archie, Missouri, Anastasia Blundell and her husband Troy of Powderly, Texas, Monica Smithwick and her husband Tim of Manhattan, Kansas, Cathryn Bach of Germantown, Maryland; two sisters, Geraldine Benesky of Walsenburg, Colorado and Pauline Conard of Larned, Kansas; her brother, Gail Yohn and his wife Barbera of Hutchinson, Kansas; twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Clara was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence, an infant child, and her parents.

Cremation is planned. Family and friends are invited to pray the Rosary at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 10th, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at Flush. A graveside service with full military honors will take place 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery. Stanley was born on September 9, 1935, Booneville, Missouri the son of Alfred and Sarah (Stevens) Birge. Stanley served in the United States Army and retired November of 1975. He served during two tours of Vietnam. He was stationed in Korea, Germany and many times at Fort Riley that ultimately became his home after retirement. 

Prior to joining the United States Army, Stanley was an ordained Baptist Preacher. He served small churches in Missouri. Stanley enjoyed gardening, cooking, collecting antiques and fishing. On August 23, 1953, he married Creola Mae Johnston. Creola passed away February 28, 2018.Stanley is survived by one son, Curt D. (Deborah) Birge of Moberly, Missouri; two daughters, Beverly S. (Greg) Edlin of Milford, Kansas and Barbara L. (Ron) Guffey of Junction City, Kansas; two sisters, Glenda Crutchfield of Moberly, Missouri and Sandra Burris (Francis) of Camdenton, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Martha Birge of Moberly, Missouri; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. &nbsp; Andrew "Andy" Odell, 90 of Abilene passed away July 13, 2024. He was born June 9, 1934 in Oakland, California, the son of Harry Clay Odell and Myrtle Margaret (Miller) Odell, Piva. He enlisted in the United States of America Air Force May 13, 1953 and was honorably discharged May 12, 1957. On June 30, 1956 he was united in marriage to Norma Forgue at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Zurich, Kansas.

Andy worked as an Auto Mechanic at Gagelman-Vincent Motor Company, Plainville, Kansas, Peterson Pontiac, and Gus Reed Auto Service, Salina, Kansas. Andy attended Kansas Technical Institute, Salina, Kansas. Andy worked as an Engineer for Wilson Company Engineering in Salina, Kansas and ABB &amp; Combustion Engineering in Abilene, Kansas. 

After Retirement Andy directed tours for Village Tours in Yoder, Kansas. Owned &amp; operated Odell Shoe and Boot repair in Abilene, Kansas, and spent time building an flying radio controlled airplanes. Andy is survived by his loving wife Norma. Daughters; Shannon Lawrence and husband Jeff, Carolyn Odell, Son; Troy Odell and wife Deb. Grandchildren: Kurt Lawrence (Angelina); Kris Lawrence; Aaron Odell; Troy Odell Jr; Priscilla Schultz (Jay). Great-Grandchildren; Mary Galvan (Juan), Sophia Schultz, Abigail Schulz and Madeline Schultz. Great-Great Grandchildren: Leah and Jr Galvan. His brother, Donald Odell, Nieces, Lisa Vix (Scott); Sylvia Straus, Nephew, Thomas Odell, Great-nieces, Stacey Strauss, Tiffany Strauss; Great-nephews Brian Vix; Shane York. Paulette Todd, 66, of Miltonvale, Kansas, died on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at her residence. &nbsp;She was born on July 8, 1958, the daughter of Virginia Railsback. &nbsp;Paulette grew up in the Salina area and worked as a dietary aide at the Miltonvale Manor for several years.

She was one of the toughest people you could meet and was willing to help anyone at any time.&nbsp; Paulette loved animals, especially cats and wolves, she enjoyed having fun with her friends and family and especially loved her grandkids.

She is preceded in death by her mother and brother, Stan Baker.

Patrick “Chris” Adams, 65, of Wamego, Kansas passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, following a battle with cancer. Born on October 24, 1958, in Dallas, Texas, Chris attended Wamego High School, and Kansas State University. He married Penny Prockish on December 29, 1990. In 2000 Chris and Penny welcomed their only child, Shelby, into the world. Chris was a familiar face in town, working at Dyers IGA for more than 20 years. He worked at Caterpillar Work Tools for 25 years, most recently as a Product Control Change Technician.

Known for his genuine smile and joyful demeanor, Chris was a friend to all who had the opportunity to meet him. He is remembered for the love and kindness he showed to his friends, community and especially his family. Chris was most fulfilled by his life at home with wife of 33 years, Penny, and daughter, Shelby. He enjoyed long drives around Wamego and surrounding areas with his daughter and cheering on the Texas Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Boyd Adams and Carolyn Pannell, step-father Wayne Hogan, mother-in-law Barbara Prockish, brother Mike Adams, and brother-in-law Ed Bolton. &nbsp;Donna Raye (née Bergsten) Sesler, age 86, of Manhattan and a resident of Meadowlark’s Miller House since 2017, passed away peacefully at Good Shepherd Homecare &amp; Hospice after a brief andsudden illness.

&nbsp;Donna was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, William (Bill) Sesler who to her great surprise passed away on her birthday in 2021. Providentially, she was reunited with her “Billy boy” on his birthday. They had married on Valentine’s Day and had only been significantly separated during their marriage by the pandemic response for 11 months but were joyfully and sweetly reunited after their long-forced isolation on the day of their anniversary, Valentine’s Day.

&nbsp;Donna was born and raised in the Blue Valley area where her Swedish immigrant parents farmed before the family eventually settled in the Wamego area. She followed her sister Darlene to Topeka to start a job with the state the Monday following her high school graduation, before eventually returning to Manhattan to live with her grandmother and work in the Chemistry Department at Kansas State where she met Bill who at the time and during his 47-year career worked in the Controller’s office. She admired his energy and punctuality and the rest as they say, is history.

&nbsp;They raised two boys in an era when the wife was expected to be the homemaker (aka “domestic engineer” as that term was used in 1970’s) when so many of today’s conveniences did not exist. Meals from scratch had to be cooked, clothes required hanging to dry and two energetic and constantly fighting and playing boys had to be raised, chased, and even deservedly disciplined when needed. Mom was a wonderful cook and a superb baker leaving her family with sweet memories of delicious desserts from basics such as Toll House chocolate chip cookies to the more intricate cream puffs and an all-time favorite, cherry cream cheese dessert. Sunday meals were always special, and she believed in cooking a separate meal every day. During their time at Marlatt grade school, the family had lunch and dinner together daily in a quintessential Father Knows Best nuclear family style.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Mom was very sharp of mind and memory who continued her love of learning her entire life.&nbsp; While at Meadowlark, her favorite activity was reading and learning from the internet- her lifeline to the world at large. Even though separated by much distance, she never forgot a birthday of her sons and grandkids, as they always received well in advance a gift and a card with a handwritten note. In retirement, Bill and Donna enjoyed travel and touring nearby Kansas towns, lunching at locally owned restaurants.

&nbsp;Donna treasured her grandchildren, eagerly anticipating their all too brief visits each year. Their pictures surrounded her in her residence and in her final hours she was not only surrounded by their pictures, but by their kind, emotional and loving words. Two of them wanted to share their remembrances.

Desiring contact that can’t be found on the phone

And yet, his days of boyhood have long passed

Growing up some of our fondest memories as a family was making the trip up to Manhattan, Kansas from Miami, Florida to visit our grandparents. Every summer we went, we had such a great time spending the days with Grandma whether it was just going out to eat breakfast or hanging inside the house playing her favorite game of solitaire. My favorite memory with our grandma was when my Dad’s side of the family and my uncle’s side of the family ate at IHOP after our grandfather’s funeral. It was the first time in over a decade both sides of the family were in Kansas together and it was a beautiful representation of community and family despite normally being thousands of miles apart. Outside of the time we spent In Kansas over the summers, it was always a great treat being able to call my grandma over the phone. Her joyful and overwhelming love for us was always felt through the phone. She has always been a beacon of light and joy.

&nbsp; Donna was also preceded in death by her parents, Pauline (née Lundin), and Carl Bergsten her older sister Darlene Marshall, and her older brother Donald (Donnie) Bergsten. Donna is survived by her boys, Tim (Myrla) and Chris, six grandchildren (William, Mikaela, Tatiana, Vanessa, Sabrina and Alicia) and 5 great-grandchildren (Bailey, Colette, Jackson, Dillon and Kian), her brother, David, and many nieces and nephews.

&nbsp; A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday (August 7, 2024) at 11:00 a.m. at the Campenella &amp; Stewart Funeral Home, Wamego, Kansas.

Vada V Brabb Ramsour passed away on July 17, 2024 at the age of 99 years and 6 weeks of age. She was a resident of Morris County Assisted Living in Council Grove, Ks. She was the wife of Harris E. Ramsour, who preceded her in death on Dec. 13, 2016. Her children are Colleen Marie Anderson and Patricia Lee Schneider, of Council Grove, Ks; Tena Jill Brucken (Galen) of Soldier Ks; and Rocky Mason Ramsour of rural Geary County.

Grandchildren are Dennis Russell Anderson (Kathy) of Council Grove, Ks; Brian Walker Anderson of Leavenworth, Ks; Jeffry Harold Feldhausen of Burns, Ks and Scott Haven Feldhausen (Nichole) of St. George Ks.

Great Grandchildren are Rebecca Taylor Anderson and Amanda Renee Anderson of Council Grove; Celestiana Renee Feldhausen of Michigan and Donovan Walker Feldhausen of Topeka, Ks; Jonas Walker Anderson and Anya Grace Anderson of Leavenworth, Ks and Adaylnn Feldhausen and Logan Walker Feldhausen of St. George Ks.

Harris and Vada were raised in Rural Geary and Wabaunsee counties but lived less than a mile apart. Her parents were William Madison Brabb and Elva Loraine Sission Brabb. Her brothers were Harvey Brabb, Kenneth Brabb and Marven Brabb. Her sister was Mary Brabb Tulley. All preceded her in death.

Harris said of the relationship that he was just being Biblical. It says to “love your neighbor”, so he did.

They were married at the Dwight parsonage of the Presbyterian Church on April 11, 1944 with her brother, Harvey Brabb and her cousin Pearl Horne attending.

Vada was the wife of a farmer and dairyman, meaning she did the usual work of having a farm and family. She was milkmaid, gardener, seamstress and found comfort in playing her piano and organ. Most of her tunes were ‘played by ear’. They included hymns, country and popular music of her time. She was able to share her piano playing with great granddaughter when she first went to live at MCH Assisted Living. She and Harris participated in square dancing and community card parties. Vada was a 60-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She served in many offices and was a district aide. As chapters consolidated, she belonged to the Alta Vista, Dwight, White City and currently, Miriam chapter of Emporia. She saved time for her family through 4-H projects, Welcome Presbyterian Church and Ladies Aide Society. She was a member of the Simpson United Methodist Church and helped with several Bible School activities.

Celebration of Life is August 3, 2024, 1:30-3 pm at the Alta Vista Masonic Hall, 705 Main Street, Alta Vista KS.

Margaret (Joan) Annenberg, age 78, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan, KS. She was born on May 17, 1946, to parents Elmer Earl and Margaret Willis (Trower) Willyard, Manhattan, KS.

Joan married Frank John Anneberg on August 6, 1966. They were married for 49 years before his passing in 2015.

Joan loved all kids and was a daycare provider for most of her life.

She is survived by a daughter, Joy Campbell, Manhattan, KS; a son, Frank Anneberg, Manhattan, KS; a sister, Jan Shaneyfelt, Edman, OK; grandchildren, Stephanie Cambell, Isaac Campbell, Thomas Anneberg, Cole Anneberg, and Dylan Ross.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; a brother, Harry Willyard; and a sister, Jayne Metcalf

Margaret (Joan) Annenberg, age 78, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan, KS. She was born on May 17, 1946, to parents Elmer Earl and Margaret Willis (Trower) Willyard, Manhattan, KS.Joan married Frank John Anneberg on August 6, 1966. They were married for 49 years before his passing in 2015.Joan loved all kids and was a daycare provider for most of her life.She is survived by a daughter, Joy Campbell, Manhattan, KS; a son, Frank Anneberg, Manhattan, KS; a sister, Jan Shaneyfelt, Edman, OK; grandchildren, Stephanie Cambell, Isaac Campbell, Thomas Anneberg, Cole Anneberg, and Dylan Ross.Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; a brother, Harry Willyard; and a sister, Jayne MetcalfA memorial service will be held for Joan at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Patrick presiding.Burial will follow after the service at the St. George Cemetery, St. George, KS.Memorials in memory of Joan can be given to Northview Elementary School in care of Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Ave, Manhattan, KS 66502
