Kenneth Gerard Mohr passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025 with loved ones by his side. Ken was born to the late Clarence Mohr and Arlene Mohr on August 25, 1965. All through his life, he had a passion for fishing and was an avid outdoorsman. He was able to spend plenty of time outdoors hunting and fishing in between chores while growing up on the family farm by the Smoky HIll River. His life on the farm in his younger years cultivated his love for gardening as an adult, as he built a large raised bed garden in the backyard of his Springfield home.

He began his college career at Kansas State, then transferred to Washburn University where he earned a bachelor's degree in accounting. He remained a loyal Wildcat fan after leaving KSU.

Ken was a humble man who lead a simple life, always reaching out to help those in need. He had a strong work ethic and wasn't one to take responsibility lightly, continuing to work full time as the HyVee Deli Manager in Springfield even while undergoing cancer treatment.

He and his love, Audrey, were married for 11 years. The two of them enjoyed going to auctions while living in Topeka and finding a new flea market to explore. He cherished the time spent with his step-grandchildren, whether it was going fishing, walking at the Bass Pro Shop aquarium or riding the coasters at Silver Dollar City. He thoroughly enjoyed being their “Peepaw”.

Ken leaves behind his loving wife - Audrey Mohr, his mother - Arlene Mohr, siblings - Chris Mohr (Jeanette), Jerry Mohr (Carla), Beth Prendergast (David), eight nieces and nephews and one great-niece. His step-children-Dale Giermann Jr. (Megan), Sara Tressler (Joe), Lacy Giermann. Grandchildren-Stratton, Ari, Scarlett, Sutton and Charlie his dog.

With heavy hearts, we announce that Anne R. Brumm, 75, passed on April 17, 2025. Born on November 16, 1949, she remained a lifelong Junction City resident. Anne was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She married John C. Brumm on June 10th, 1970. They shared 37 years together. Anne was a lifetime active member of the First Baptist Church in Junction City. She was an intelligent and prudent individual who could be stern but exercised good judgment with a softer heart.

After graduating from Junction City High School, she attended Technical School in Salina, Kansas. Anne worked for over 30 years in Civil Service at Fort Riley, Kansas. Her last assignment was with Southwest CPAC before retiring with several service awards. Afterwards, she was employed for 8 years as a software editor before retiring a second time.

Anne was preceded in death by her father, Harold Washburn; mother, Imogene Washburn; husband, John C Brumm; great-grandson Thomas Brumm; and brothers John, Ron, David, and Jerry. She is survived by her son James Brumm, daughter Regina Brown (Michael T.), grandchildren Ashley Brumm, Christopher Calvert, Caleb Brown, Rachel Brown, great-grandchildren Gavin Calvert, Mila Calvert, SeAnna Brumm, and Daryl Brumm.

William Dorminey, Jr. 74, of Junction City, Kansas passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2025 at Stormont-Vail Healthcare in Topeka, Kansas.

Cremation will take place. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery.

Bill was born December 21, 1950, in Valdosta, Georgia the son of William and Neeler (Simmons) Dorminey, Sr.

Bill served in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged with disability. Bill later worked as a civil servant at Fort Riley until his retirement.

Bill enjoyed fishing and tinkering in his workshop.

In 1975, he married Sharon Rose Noffsinger. She passed away April 23, 2022

Survivors include two sons; David Dorminey of Independence, Missouri and Richard (Michelle) Dorminey of Junction City, Kansas; four grandchildren, Kiara, Darian, Ryan and Johnathan; two sisters, Jean Brogdon and Janice Gobin; one half-brother, E.E. Eunice.

Gary served in the U.S. Navy as a Radio Communications Specialist. After his service, he worked in both California and Washington State as a carpet and tile layer.

He is survived by his mother, Joyce; his sister, Glenda; three nieces, Michelle, Jennifer, and Camlyn and numerous other cousins, family, and friends.

&nbsp; Mervin Wiese passed away at home April 15, 2025 after an extended illness. He was 79 years old.Merv was born in Oklahoma to Elmer and Jeanette Wiese. He was a lifelong University of Oklahoma Football fan.He graduated high school and attended and graduated from Southwest Oklahoma College. He earned his masters degree in 1977.He started his teaching career in 1968 at Ulysses High School where he taught history and government and coached basketball.His teaching career was interrupted when Uncle Sam invited him to join the Army and vacation in Vietnam for a year. He served in the 4th Infantry Division from 1969-1970. He earned the combat infantry man badge and two purple hearts.&nbsp;&nbsp;

&nbsp; He resumed his teaching career at Ulysses until 1982 when he moved to Wichita and began teaching at Andover High School.In Wichita he married his wife Kay (she survives). They had a son, David. (He survives).The family moved to Chapman in 1989 to begin his teaching and coaching career at Chapman High School. He coached the girls basketball team from 1989-1994 and in 1992 the team placed 4th in the 4A State Tournament. They did even better in 1993 when they placed 2nd.He retired from coaching in 1994 and teaching in 2001. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf and watching sports. In his later years he found friends and fellowship at the Chapman Senior Center. Visitation will be April 21, 2025 from 5-7 P.M., at the Londeen-Overlease Funeral Chapel in Chapman. Marcile Marie Peterson, 99, of Eureka, Kansas, formerly of Wamego, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Greenwood County Hospital.

Marcile was born November 29, 1925, in rural Garden City, Kansas, the daughter of Clyde A. and Violet (Wilks) Sturdevant. She attended several schools in her childhood since her father was a minister for the Church of the Nazarene. She graduated from Elkhart High School in 1944. She then attended Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma, for two years. Marcile then worked for a time in Junction City.

Marcile was a wonderful pianist and played the piano and organ in church from the time she was seven years old.

Marcile’s father married Marcile and Clyde W. Peterson on September 30, 1950, in Gaylord, Kansas. Following fifty-seven years of sharing their lives together, Clyde preceded her in death on November 19, 2007.

They lived in Abilene until 1961 and then moved to Wamego. Marcile began working in the traffic office for the Kansas State University police department and then office manager until her retirement. She moved to Eureka in 2013 to be closer to her son.

In Wamego, Marcile attended the Church of the Nazarene in Manhattan. She was an active member of the community, including the Study Club and the Vermillion F.C.E. After moving to Eureka, she was a member of a quilting club, the Library Club and the Hospital Auxiliary.

Marcile is survived by her son, Don Peterson and his wife, Helen, of Eureka, and her sister-in-law, Janet Peterson. She is also preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Jane Adams and her husband Wesley.

&nbsp; Born September 20, 1959 in Wamego, Kansas, Teresa was the daughter of Thomas Ellis and Juanita L. (Kohler) Lamkin.&nbsp; Following the death of her father, Juanita married John L. Habluetzel who helped raise her and who she thought of as her father.

&nbsp; On November 9, 1984, Teresa married James D. “Jim” Kelsey in Wamego.&nbsp; He survives.

&nbsp;&nbsp;Active in the Louisville and Wamego communities, she was a member of the Wamego Senior Center and delivered Meals on Wheels for many years.&nbsp; She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Teresa enjoyed Bingo, playing pool, playing cards and board games with family and friends, and especially loved family cookouts.&nbsp; She never missed her son's or grandchildrens school activities and sporting events.&nbsp; For many years, she made jewelry jars and sold those along with other collectibles she would pick up at auctions at flea markets in the area.

&nbsp;&nbsp;Teresa was employed as a legal secretary and assistant at the law office of John D Watt for 39 years.&nbsp; She also worked for several different auction companies over many years.

&nbsp;&nbsp; Surviving is her husband, Jim; her mother, Juanita Habluetzel of Basehor, KS; two sons, Dustin Kelsey (Lucinda) of Bonner Springs, KS and Joe Kelsey (Crystal) of Miltonvale, KS; four grandchildren, Aston, Kaiya, Sheyenne, and Emily; and a brother in law, Robert Kelsey (Sharon) of Wamego.

Ro walked this world leaving behind footprints of life, laughter, and love.

She was first and foremost a beautiful daughter, a caring sister, a loving mother, and a legendary granny!

Aside from titles, Ro was someone with a heart that gave endlessly.

He was born on July 19, 1948, in Winfield, the son of Jose Beall and Leontin "Tina" Stif.

He worked in janitorial services and maintenance at MHK Housing in Manhattan, Kansas.

Julius proudly served in the United States Army from 1968 until 1970, an accomplishment he held dear throughout his life.

Mike served in the United States Army until his retirement. During his military career, he was an aircraft maintenance quality control inspector assigned to the Big Red One. After his retirement, he worked various jobs in the Junction City area that included working at the Amoco gas station on South Washington Street, Walmart, Auto Zone and Waters Hardware. He also worked as a security guard on Fort Riley and the Flint Hills Job Corp Center.

Mike enjoyed his dogs and watching western movies and Star Trek. His greatest past time was sitting in his garage visiting with people and taking daily trips to Stacy's Restaurant. He always enjoyed striking up a conversation with anyone that wanted to talk about helicopters.

On November 23, 2002, he married Mary Barry in Junction City, Kansas.

LaVetra Florene (Evans) Brown, age 91, of Abilene, Kansas passed away April 10, 2025 in Abilene. She was born October 13, 1933 in Turpin, Oklahoma, the daughter of Rupert R. and Maurine Mae (Cox) Evans. She graduated from Turpin High School in 1951 and received a degree in Business and Physical Education in 1954 from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Oklahoma. 

She married Kenneth W. Brown from Cleo Springs, Oklahoma on December 27, 1953. They were the first married couple to graduate from NWOSU. After graduation she followed Ken in the US Army to Ft. Bliss, Texas, Ft. Belvoir, Virginia, and Kaiserslautern, Germany.LaVetra taught Business at Coats, Kansas Consolidated School from 1956-1958. She later taught Business, Physical Education, Reading, and was a media specialist in Partridge, Minneapolis, and Abilene, Kansas, where she retired in 1994. She was a member of KNEA, NEA, and an active member of KASL (Kansas Association of School Librarians). 

She served two terms on the Abilene City Library Board.LaVetra was a devoted wife and a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a loyal friend to many. She was an avid athlete and loved to enjoy many sports. She loved to watch KU basketball and there were few things in life that took priority over watching a game! She also loved to travel and she and Ken traveled extensively in their retirement years.LaVetra was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth. Brien Mackenzie Brenner passed away unexpectedly from natural causes on April 5th, 2025, in Manhattan, KS. At 28 years old, Brien left us suddenly and far too soon, leaving his family and friends feeling unimaginable pain and loss. Brien was a loving husband, soon-to-be father, and a cherished son and brother. He left a lasting impact on all who knew him, making any moment spent with him unforgettable. He was truly one of a kind. If Brien’s life were measured only in time, it would be too short, but when measured in memorable moments, laughter, and love, the magnitude of his life is immeasurable.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Brien was the beloved son of Mark Brenner and Jenni Shost. His grandparents, Redgy Nail, Tena Brenner, and Verland Brenner preceded him in death. He is survived by his grandmother, Amy Nail; his parents, Mark Brenner and Jenni Shost and her husband, Andrew Shost; his siblings, Blake, Bradlee, and Baileigh Brenner; a host of extended family and in-laws; and his beloved wife, Chesalai Brenner, and unborn child, Beatrice Mackenzie Brenner (expected August of 2025). Each family member carries a piece of Brien’s heart and many memories that will forever resonate within them.

Brien was born and raised in Manhattan, KS. He always loved Manhattan, and it was truly his home. This was largely due to his memorable childhood. Whether it was sneaking down to play late-night video games with his brother Blake, riding bikes around town with Baileigh and Bradlee, sledding close to home, or swimming in the pool, Brien had many fond memories of fun times. He has always loved Christmas and all the family traditions, like watching “A Christmas Story” and looking at the multicolored angel Christmas tree topper.

Brien met the love of his life, Chesalai, at church when she and her family moved to Manhattan, KS, in 2014. They quickly developed feelings for one another, and in 2017, Chesalai decided she was tired of waiting on him and finally decided to say, “So, are we doing this or what?” From there, they started dating and soon fell in love and knew they wanted to spend their lives together. On January 8th, 2020, Brien and Chesalai were married in a beautiful oceanside ceremony in St. Petersburg, Florida. Brien was a devoted husband, always caring for Chesalai in any way she needed and working hard to support their future family and life together. It was so important to him that she was cared for and happy. Their five years of marriage were filled with love, laughter, friendship, and an unbreakable bond. They were a testament to the beauty of a committed and dedicated marriage, always seeking to love and understand each other better. Brien and Chesalai found out they were expecting in November 2024, and Brien could not have been more excited to be a father. Ever since Brien was a little boy, he wanted to be a dad.

Brien’s intelligence and talent shined throughout his academic and professional career. Brien graduated from Manhattan High School in 2015 and continued his education at MATC and JCCC before enrolling at Kansas State University, where he pursued a Bachelor’s in Secondary Education. His passion for teaching and working with children was evident during his time as a student teacher at Clay Center High School. His students loved him dearly. Brien’s mother recognized his heart for children at an early age and this heart influenced him throughout his life.

Brien was also employed at Success Vision, where he eagerly anticipated a promotion to general manager, a testament to his hard work, skill, and perseverance. Most importantly Brien was excited by the opportunity to provide for his growing young family.

Brien was a faithful Manhattan First Assembly of God church member since childhood. At the age of 19, his faith became his own when he decided to give up the things holding him back in favor of a life lived as a true representation of God’s love and sacrifice; someone he felt would be worthy of his future wife. In recent years, he was an indispensable volunteer in Manhattan First Kids preschool classes, and his boundless energy and hilarity made him a favorite of many of the kids. His faith was a guiding light in his life and was visible in his selfless service to others.

A funeral service will be held in Brien’s honor on April 14th, 2025, at 10:30 am at the Manhattan First Aseembly of God, 2310 Candlewood in Manhattan. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Brien’s life, share stories, and support one another in this time of grief.

Darwin Dale “Louie” Diehl, 87, of Alma, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday (April 9, 2025) at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.

Born June 27, 1937 in Alma, Kansas, Darwin was the son of George W. and Nina Cathleen (Lewis) Diehl. He married Joyce Elaine (Stuewe) Reavis on March 18, 1977 in Alma. She survives.

Growing up, Darwin was active with Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. He was a 1956 graduate of Alma High School. Darwin then joined the U. S. Army Reserves which he proudly served until 1963. In 2016 he went on an Honor Flight which was a highlight for him.

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Alma and the American Legion Post No. 32 in Alma. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed traveling, taking trips to Europe, Canada, Alaska and the Caribbean. He traveled to 47 states and especially enjoyed his yearly trips to Branson. More recently, Darwin enjoyed word search puzzles.

Darwin had been employed for 24 years with the Alma Farmers Union Co-op Elevator. He later worked at K-Mart in Topeka and then as a groundskeeper with Kansas State University for 10 years until his retirement.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce; a daughter, Amy Summervill (Tim) of Marion, KS; a step daughter, Lesa Dierking (Bruce) of Marysville, KS; three grandchildren, Allison Dierking, Shelby Summervill and Trent Summervill; a brother, Frank Diehl (Shelley) of Lawrence, KS; two sisters, Glenda Lee (Terry) of Las Vegas, NV and Diana Trudo (Chris) of Wamego, KS; and several nieces and nephews.

Darwin was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, George W. Diehl Jr.; and a sister-in-law, Vona Diehl.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning (April 16, 2025) at 10:30 at St. John Lutheran Church in Alma with the Rev. Robert Grimm officiating. Burial with Military Honors by the United States Army Funeral Honors Detail and the Alma American Legion Post No. 32 will be in the Alma City Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening (April 15, 2025) from 6:00 to 7:30 at St. John Lutheran Church in Alma.

SFC (RET) James E. "Jim" Norris, 81, of Junction City, Kansas died on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at Valley View Senior Life Center in Junction City, Kansas.

Cremation will take place. A graveside service with full military honors will take place 11 a.m. Thursday, April 17, 2025 at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery.

Jim was born May 2, 1943, in Villa Ridge, Illinois the son of Henry and Addie (Mae) Bettes Norris.

Jim served nearly twenty three years in the United States Army until his retirement. He served two tours in Vietnam. After his retirement, he moved to Phoenix, Arizona. He worked the Phoenix Transit driving a bus. He later moved back to Junction City and worked for the City of Junction City in the waste water division.

Jim loved to walk. He enjoyed taking trips to the casino. He liked traveling and exploring new places. He enjoyed being with family.

On September 16, 1974, he married Gwen Armstrong in Cairo, Illinois.

Gayle A. Kingsbury, 73, of Junction City, KS, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2025, at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, KS. There will be no funeral service. Gayle enjoyed painting cars and doing home remodeling. He was an excellent painter having won several car awards in his younger years. He was an electrician in this community working for several different companies for over 35 years. He had a green thumb always able to save any plant. Gayle believed that every stray cat should have a home and many found a home with him. One of his greatest joys was spending time in the company of his friends.

Survivors include his life partner of 30 years, Debra Guy of the home; his daughter, Angie Sawyer of Minneapolis, MN; one brother, Rolland Bostelmann of Emmett, KS; two sisters, Ardena Carlyon and her husband, John of Junction City, KS; Lana Henning of Port St. Lucie, FL and many niece and nephews.

Judith Keala Awana Cline, 89, of Milford, Kansas, passed away on April 5, 2025, at Stormont-Vail Healthcare, in Topeka, Kansas.

She was born on August 31, 1935, to James Makia Awana and Christine Ah Heong Chun in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Judith worked as a Nurses Aid at St. Alexis Catholic Hospital in Bismark, North Dakota, before moving to Fort Riley, Kansas in 1974. In Kansas she worked as a Nutritionist for the Kansas State University Extension Office, then worked as a Realtor for Century 21 until she retired.

On May 7, 1956, she married Roger Harold Cline on Oahu, Hawaii. She and Roger, because of military orders, moved from Hawaii to Germany, then to Fort Lewis, Washington, then back to Germany. While Roger was in Vietnam, Judith and their sons lived in Washington State. Upon Roger’s return from Vietnam, the family moved to Bismarck, North Dakota, before moving to Fort Riley, Kansas. Judith and Roger lived in Milford, Kansas since 1978.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Fort Riley.

Judith is survived by her loving sons, Roger (Lydia) Jr., James (Bada), and Russell. Seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, brothers Benjamin and Leo, sister Sandra, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, sisters Josephine, Joanne, Joyce, Winona, and brothers, Rodney, James, and Lawrence.

A visitation will be held at the Johnson &amp; Mass-Hinitt Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. The memorial service will be held on the same day from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. followed by a graveside service at Fort Riley Post Cemetery officiated by Father Ninemire.

Theresa was born on May 16, 1955, at Hollywood, Florida. Her mother, Doris Hickman, and her grandparents, Alec and Lenna Hickman raised her throughout her life.

Her family will always remember how family orientated she was. Her love also extended out to friends as well. She never met a stranger and was welcoming to everyone. Her grandchildren and family always had a safe place to go when they needed it. She was truly a selfless and forgiving person.

Theresa lived her life by the Lord and always made sure to instill these values in her family's lives.

James W. Warren, 81, of Junction City, KS, passed away on April 1, 2025. He was born March 8, 1944 in Monahans, Texas, the son of Hazel Bell and Emmitt Warren.

Warren enlisted in the United States Army on February 15, 1964 and voluntarily served two terms in Vietnam. He traveled the world and ultimately settled with his family in Junction City, KS. Warren is preceded in death by his mother, father, and his beloved wife Kum.

Warren is survived by his son, James J. Warren, of Indiana; daughter, Janna Rhodes, of Texas; two grandsons, Eric D. Rhodes of Washington State, Kameron Paige, of Nevada; two granddaughters, Cienna Warren of Indiana, Erin Rhodes of Texas and a great-grandson, Jericho Joseph Rhodes, also of Washington State.

&nbsp;Edith Pauline Hernandez, 90, born on February 6, 1935, in St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025, at Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan, Kansas.

&nbsp; Pauline dedicated her life to caring for her home while supporting her husband, Nate Hernandez Jr., who served in the Air Force for 20 years. The couple shared a loving partnership for 68 years before Nate's passing in 2022.

&nbsp; She and Nate enjoyed spending their time supporting the VFW Post 9174 in San Antonio, Texas, and traveling by bus to nearby states on casino trips.

&nbsp; Pauline is survived by her nephew and caregivers Rev. Rick Hernandez and Julie of Wamego, Kansas; Nate’s brother, Frank Hernandez; Pauline’s sister, Betty; Pauline’s sister-in-law, Mary Hernandez; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her brother, who is still Missing in Action in Vietnam. Pauline will be remembered fondly for her warmth and devotion to family.

June was born December 7, 1926 in Maximo, Ohio the daughter of Clyde Clarence and Loretta Elizabeth (Weber) Erisey.

June moved to Junction City in 1971. Her husband Harvey "Mac" was stationed at Fort Riley. June worked for the Geary County Health Department. She was catholic and attended St. Xavier Catholic Church. June enjoyed gardening and playing the piano.

On June 7, 1952, she married Harvey Charles "Mac" McCready. He died April 28, 1986.

Survivors include four sons; Mark Layne McCready of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, John Paul Erisey McCready of Bridgeport, Michigan, Todd Gregory McCready of Fruita, Colorado and Kevin Michael McCready of Junction City, Kansas; six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and nine great great-grandchildren.
