Cheryl A. McCullough

Cheryl A. McCullough, 78, of Junction City, Kansas passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on Friday, May 30, 2025 at Stormont-Vail Healthcare in Topeka, Kansas.

Cremation will take place. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Cheryl was born January 15, 1947, in Houston, Texas the daughter of Mary Ellen (Rummell) and Benjamin Hardwick Brown.

Cheryl attended Jane Long Elementary School and graduated from Bellaire High School both in Houston, Texas. After high school, she attended and graduated from Lon Morris College in Jacksonville, Texas.

She moved to the area in 1983. Cheryl worked for USD #475 for eighteen years. She later worked for Walmart as a cashier and stocker.

Cheryl was a devoted mother and grandmother. She fiercely advocated for her son as he grew up with asthma and stayed by his side during numerous hospitalizations. She uncharacteristically pushed the doctors to provide him care when she felt they weren't proactive enough. She made herself available at a moment's notice to watch the grandchildren at the drop of a hat when they were little. She also attended many sporting and school events. Cheryl loved to garden and carried on her mother's love of houseplants and passed the love down to her daughter and granddaughter. She adored her own and her children's dogs and cats and loved traveling with family and thoroughly enjoyed the peace and tranquility of country living and nature. Cheryl had extreme grit and showed her family grace at the end of her life and we are blessed to have her has a mother.

Her family was very important to her. She enjoyed spending quality time with her grandchildren.

She married Douglas Michael McCullough on February 5, 1968. They were later divorced.

Survivors include one daughter, Janet M. Trumpp (Corey) of Wakefield, Kansas; two sons, Sean L. McCullough (Jennifer) of White City, Kansas and Kevin M. McCullough of Junction City, Kansas; four grandchildren, Cody and Shawna Trumpp, Alexandria McCullough and Holly McCullough; one brother, Mike Brown (Cindy) of Salida, Colorado; one cousin, Annabess Barr of Texas.
