There was a 1st Infantry Division and Irwin Army Community Hospital hosted Victory Mental Health Summit at the Riley Conference Center on Thursday. According to the Army the event was held to promote discussion about the availability of mental health resources and what Fort Riley leaders are doing to address concerns.
As part of Commanding General of the 1st Inf. Div. Maj. Gen. D.A. Sims II’s Operation Victory Wellness campaign, the summit was held with approximately 100 community members from across Kansas to include Big Red One and Fort Riley Soldiers.
Sims informed attendees about ongoing efforts to promote wellness and resiliency among Soldiers and family members while highlighting the need to reduce waiting times for those who require mental healthcare both on and off the installation.
Soldiers and family members have access to a number of mental health and substance abuse programs to include confidential, non-medical counseling provided by Military and Family Life Counseling Program.
