MANHATTAN—Authorities are working to determine the cause of a fire at a mobile home in Manhattan.
Just after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, fire crews were dispatched to Colonial Gardens Mobile Home Park located at 3000 Tuttle Creek Boulevard Lot 80 for a report of a structure fire, according to Deputy Fire Chief Ryan Almes.
Upon arrival, crews found a mobile home with smoke showing from multiple openings. One dog was rescued by maintenance before fire department arrival, and a second dog was rescued by fire crews.
The fire was contained within 10 minutes of arrival. A Riley County police officer who responded to the fire suffered a minor injury and was treated and released at the scene by Riley County EMS.
The building is a single-wide manufactured home which had four occupants, none of which were home at the time of the fire. The mobile home was not inhabitable after the fire. Loss is estimated at $5,000 to contents and $1,000 to the structure, according to Almes.
