Wayne LeRoy McReynolds, age 78, died on Tuesday April 26, 2022 at Ascension Via Christi Village in Manhattan.<br><br>He was born on June 8, 1943, in Wilson, KS, the son of Harry &amp; Guela (Westphall) McReynolds. He graduated from Wilson High School in 1961.<br><br>Wayne served in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1963, and was honorable discharged as an E-4.<br><br>He was a warehouse manager in Great Bend, KS for Harbison-Fischer, Inc. for 35 years. After retirement, he moved to Manhattan and worked for Job Corps.<br><br>Wayne was a public-spirited man and a fervent patriot, donating his time and talents to numerous veteran’s organizations. He served as a state, post, and district Commander for the American Legion. Additionally, he was part of the 40 and 8 Grande De KS and Sons of the American Legion. Even with all his service for veteran’s organizations, he also found time to be the Quivira District Executive for the Boy Scouts and a member of the Barton County Sheriff’s Reserve.<br><br>On March 25, 1962, Wilson, Kansas, he was united in marriage to Judith K. Nelson.<br><br>Survivors include his wife Judy of the home; two sons: Shawn McReynolds and his fiancée Gaytha Ziegelmeier of Ada, OK and Shane McReynolds and his fiancée Ruth Adams of Manhattan, KS; three granddaughters: Abigail, Allison, and Brooke McReynolds; and three sisters: Lois Hickey and Evelyn Ray both of Inman, KS, and LaVona Ruark of Sterling, CO.<br><br>Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Guela; three sisters Zona Homeier, Velda Brooks, and Betty Duryee; and three brothers in infancy: Carl, Ralph, and Harry Jr.<br><br>Memorial services will be at 1:00 PM, May 9th, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 5700 Broadway Ave, Great Bend, KS, with Pastors Chris Lehew and Lewis O. Smith officiating.
