Stephanie De-Ann Marshall passed on October 11, 2025 in the care of Hospice at Village Manor in Abilene.

Mrs. Marshall was born Stephanie De-Ann Cossel November 10, 1949 to Kenneth Everett Cossel and Virginia Lea Smith Cossel in Spokane Washington.

On June 30, 1967, she was wed to William Ira Marshall Sr. To this union were three children, Robin Dee (Gary) Williams of Wichita, KS, Buffy Jo-El (Chris) Dugan of Wichita, KS, and William I. Marshall, Jr (Kelly Skinner) of Olathe, KS.

Dee attended Concordia public schools. She received a Bachelor of Science from Marymount College in 1988 and a Master of Business Administration from Kansas Wesleyan University in 1997. In 1999, Dee earned Certified Public Manager.

Dee was employed by The Kansas Department of Corrections as head accountant for the Ellsworth Correctional Facility in Ellsworth, Kansas, and as Business Administrator for the Topeka and Hutchinson Correctional Facilities. She also served as adjunct faculty for Benedictine College, Kansas Wesleyan University and Kansas State University of Salina teaching computer sciences, accounting, and linear statistics. She was a past president of Phi Beta Lambda of Marymount College.

Dee was a long-time Abilene resident and active in the community. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church and served on the Pastoral Parish Council and the Finance Council. She was a member of The American Correctional Association, The Kansas Correctional Association and The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) where she served as State Treasurer and State Auditor, National Appointment as State Chair of Master Reports, Kansas Society DAR, Vice Chair of Auditing and Vice Chair America 250! Patriot Express, National Society of the DAR. She served in many offices for the Abilene Chapter DAR to include Regent, Vice Regent, Registrar and Treasurer. She served as the president of the Board of Directors for Great Plains Theatre, on the Abilene City Commission from 2015-2023 and was Abilene Mayor from 2016-2017 and in 2021.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, step father (Jim Allen), brothers Ron and K. Wayne (Butch), brothers-in-law Gary Ashland and Chuck Eis and nieces Geri Eis and Victoria Ashland.

Dee is survived by her husband of the home, three children, 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Kathy Ashland of Concordia, Kennda Eis of Milwaukee, WI, two brothers, Wallace (Pat) Cossel of Sheridan, WY, Terry (Karen) Cossel of Beatrice, NE .and numerous other relatives.

Dee was always busy. If she did not have work, she found it. She enjoyed working in the house, garden and even enjoyed weeding. She also enjoyed sewing, reading, crossword puzzles and etching glass. Because she often needed muscle and logistics, she required Bill’s help…whether he liked it or not. A project for DAR spawned a newfound and much-loved hobby of headstone restoration. She and Bill traveled across Kansas and Missouri restoring family headstones; cleaning and resetting the stones where needed. They even had broken stones repaired by professionals when the work was beyond their capabilities.

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 19th at the St Andrews Catholic Church from 3pm-4:30pm followed by the rosary.

Funeral services are Monday, October 20 at 10am at the St Andrews Catholic Church, Abilene, KS followed by graveside services at St Joseph’s Cemetery. Immediately following, family and friends are invited to celebrate Dee’s life at a lunch at the St Andrew’s Parish Center.

Keith R. Bliss was born December 22, 1937 in Iola, Kansas the son of Wayne and Esther (Laymon) Bliss. He passed away Saturday, September 27, 2025 at the Enterprise Estates Nursing Home.

Keith grew up in the Iola area graduating in 1955 from Elsmore High School and attended Kansas State University. Through his involvement in 4-H, Keith early on demonstrated an avid interest in ham radios, electronics and technology. He then developed a passion for trucking, serving as a driver and trainer for Swift trucking Company in his later years. He was also a member of the James R. Cutler American Legion Post #39 in Abilene.

He is survived by his sons Richard Bliss and Phillip “Tim” and his wife Diane Bliss of Enterprise, sister Betty Jo Melcher of Newton, niece, one great nephew, eight grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Sandy, brother-in-law Elvin Melcher, niece and her husband, a great nephew, a granddaughter, and a great great grandchild.

Larry Ray Mumpower, age 71, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025, surrounded by his family in Wamego, Kansas.

He was born on May 26, 1954, in Fort Riley, Kansas. He was the son of Donald Mumpower and Laverta Hafenstein.

Larry was previously married before his marriage to Gloria, and from that union, he had four children. Later, on May 6, 1989, Larry married Gloria Moege, with whom he shared many years of companionship and family life. Together, they had two children, Harold and Mary, whom they raised on the family farm. Throughout his life, Larry worked as a union carpenter and was a jack of all trades, spending time lending a hand to friends and family.

He enjoyed coaching and was involved in coaching his kids' sports teams, including girls' softball, boys' baseball, basketball, and soccer. He had a big heart and was known for helping children in need. Hunting, fishing, gardening, and playing cards were other pastimes he loved, and he cherished spending time with his grandchildren most of all.

Larry was known for his ornery and blunt personality. He lived life fast and to the fullest, embodying a rough and tough demeanor but a soft spot for his family. He was proud of his family farm and land. In his final days, Larry returned home after a hospitalization in Topeka. He spent the last week of his life watching the moon, watching his grandchildren play, and enjoying the farm where he raised his children and grandchildren, and his dogs that also became family. He passed peacefully with his family by his side, exactly where he wanted to be in his final days.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Mumpower; his kids, Harold (Lola Peters) Mumpower; Mary (Joseph) Fialkowski; Kody Stevens, Kristina Stevens, and Kelsie Hudson; his grandchildren: Rayanna and Christian Fialkowski; Kenzleigh, Lilly, Twyla, and Wilbur Mumpower; brother, Randy (Jane) Mumpower, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Mumpower and Laverta Rush; his in-laws, Wibur and Mary Moege; his grandparents, Harold and Selma Hafenstein; and his sister, Donette Stevens.

A celebration of life will be held at the Wamego Family Worship Center, located at 16445 Cameron Cir, Wamego, KS 66547, on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to Campanella &amp; Stewart Funeral Home to help cover final expenses and can be left in care of P.O. Phillip James Foust, fondly known as Phil, was born on November 9, 1935, in Cedar Vale, Kansas. He passed away on October 15, 2025, in Junction City, Kansas.&nbsp;

Phil enjoyed a distinguished 34-year career in the banking industry, showcasing his dedication and expertise in finance. His educational background includes graduating from the School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin, an accomplishment that laid the foundation for his professional journey.

Phil's life was enriched by his service in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served as a trombonist for the Air Force band. While stationed in Savannah, Georgia, he had the honor of performing with the Georgia Symphony Orchestra, a testament to his musical talent and passion.

On May 29, 1955, Phil married Patricia Oltjen in Cedar Vale, Kansas. Together, they shared a life of companionship and love until her passing on February 5, 2023. Phil's legacy continues through his surviving family members. He is survived by his son, Graham (Denise) Foust of Junction City, Kansas; his daughter, Gretchen Foust and her partner, Deb McWilliams of Midlothian, Texas; grandchildren Teiah, Whitney, and Rocco; great-grandchildren Langdon, Tyren, Kiara, Arya, and Jesse; and his sister, Betty Jellison.

Phil was also preceded in death by his son Vincent Foust and granddaughter Jessie Foust.

Command Sergeant Major (RET) Nathaniel Hopkins, affectionately known as Nate, passed away on October 14, 2025, at the age of 70 in Junction City, Kansas. Born on November 9, 1954, in Lewes, Delaware, Nate dedicated his life to serving others both in his military career and in his community.

Nate enlisted in the United States Army in 1976, rising to the rank of Command Sergeant Major (E-9) and honoring a distinguished career that spanned 29 years. His dedication to his service and leadership was evident in the way he mentored young soldiers and inspired them toward personal and professional growth, cultivating a spirit of learning among those he guided. His pride in his accomplishments extended beyond the military; he was a committed member of New Church of The Living God, where he served as a Deacon and took on responsibilities such as providing security. His work with the church community underscored his faith as a true believer in the Lord.

He married the love of his life, Sue, on December 24, 1977, in Leesville, Louisiana. Together, they cherished large family reunions and holiday gatherings, with Christmas being Nate's favorite celebration. His warmth and engaging personality made him a central figure in family traditions and memories. He loved spending quality time with his loved ones, relishing every opportunity for fellowship and good food.

Nate’s interests extended to fishing, working on cars, and computers, reflecting his hands-on, hardworking nature. He was known for taking charge and being inspiring, loving, and embodying the qualities of a devoted provider.

As we remember Command Sergeant Major Nathaniel Hopkins, we also celebrate a life of unwavering dedication to family, friends, and community. His legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the lessons he imparted. His life spoke for him, and his character demonstrated that his soul was "Anchored in the Lord."

Command Sergeant Major (RET) Nathaniel Hopkins

Gladys E. Cafferty passed away on the morning of October 11th at the age of 90. Her final years were spent in her daughter’s loving and capable care, surrounded by as much family as time, distance, and health would allow.&nbsp;

She joins her husband, Daryl Cafferty, who passed 43 years prior, her parents, four of her brothers – Mac, Lovett, Paul, and Bobby – and her two sisters – Sallie Syms and Mary Godbee.&nbsp;

She leaves behind her brother Jimmy Clarke, sister-in-law Sandy Halfmann, daughter Evelyn Stites, son-in-law Rod Stites, two sons Charles and Daryl Cafferty, six grandchildren – Jessica and Brent Stites and Zac, Ethan, Alex, and Charles Cafferty – and two great-grandchildren, Kaden and Hensley Cafferty, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be greatly missed.

He leaves behind a legacy of dedication to education, love for family, and a profound respect for nature. Lawrence devoted 35 years of his life to teaching various branches of science in the Junction City area, where he inspired countless students with his passion for learning. Known for making science an enjoyable subject, he was a beloved educator who always had a captivating story to share, along with advice that resonated beyond the classroom.

Each May, Lawrence would lead an annual field trip to the Wichita Mountains in Southern Oklahoma, accompanied by his class and family. This unique experience allowed 50 ninth graders to appreciate the splendor of nature while learning vital wilderness survival skills, creating cherished memories that his students would carry with them long after leaving his tutelage.

Born in 1948, Lawrence's journey through life included serving honorably in the National Guard during the 1960s. This service exemplified his commitment to his community and country.

On June 6, 1970, Lawrence married his beloved wife, Kathi Jo, in a small church in Cedarvale, Kansas. Their marriage of 40 years was a testament to their deep love for one another. She passed away on August 9, 2010 and no one ever compared to the love he had for his wife.

Lawrence was immensely proud of his children, Greg and Heather, cherishing the moments spent with them throughout their lives. His joy multiplied with the arrival of his grandsons, Gabriel and Jared, whom he loved deeply and considered among his proudest accomplishments.

He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Ethel Iris Field.

He is survived by his son Greg Young, daughter Heather Duquette, 2 grandsons, and his Pomeranian Tenshi.&nbsp;&nbsp;

In his spare time, Lawrence indulged in his passion for geology and rocks, crafting beautiful pieces of jewelry from his finds, which exemplified his creativity and appreciation for the natural world.

Thelma Jean Thomasson passed away peacefully in her home on October 8, 2025 at the age of 74. Thelma was born in Holts Summit, Missouri to Lloyd and Marie Vaught on October 29, 1950.

Thelma married the love of her life Robert Thomasson when she was 18 years old and they shared two sons. She loved her family deeply and often would visit her sons until she was no longer able. 

Thelma worked for Scholastic Magazines over 40 years in Jefferson City, Missouri where she retired from in 2013. She loved her job and the people she worked with. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Marie Vaught, husband Robert, and her son Lloyde Thomasson. 

She is survived by her son Robert Thomasson and his wife Melissa. She cared and loved for her extended family that included many nieces and nephews as well as friends that became her family over the years. 

She will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

&nbsp; Marabelle “Mary” Louise Moege, 100, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at the Valley Vista Good Samaritan Center.&nbsp; She was a life-long resident of the Wamego and Alma communities.

Mary was born on January 18, 1925, in rural Burns, Kansas, the daughter of Oliver A. and Minnie G. (Weber) Anderson.&nbsp; She attended school in Alma and graduated from Alma High School in 1942.&nbsp; During WWII, Mary and her sister spent time in Wichita, where they were working for the war effort as “Rosie the Riveters”.On October 18, 1948, Mary married Warren Arthur Moege in Alma.&nbsp; They lived there until 1957, when they moved to Wamego.&nbsp; They owned and operated Moege Truck Lines until his death on May 30, 1973.Mary worked many years at the Alma Signal Enterprise paper as a typesetter.&nbsp; 

After moving to Wamego, she worked for the Wamego Times until her retirement.She was very involved with her nieces and nephews and in later years her grand nieces and nephews.&nbsp; She loved to travel with her family and especially enjoyed trips to the beach where she gathered a large collection of seashells.&nbsp; 

She started a Christmas family tradition with a grocery give away gift exchange.&nbsp; She was an extremely hard worker and was always willing to help on the farm.&nbsp; She cut weeds and picked rock well into her 80’s. She was especially fond of her chickens and enjoyed taking care of them.&nbsp; She knew all the different birds and taught each family member all the different names.&nbsp; Her nieces and nephews saw her as the “fun aunt” and always enjoyed the times they were together. &nbsp;

Mary loved to bowl and won many awards as a member of the Kut and Kurl bowling team. Reading, gardening, baking, working Criptoquotes, crossword, and puzzles were special interests..&nbsp; She always raised a large garden and gave away gallons of strawberries.&nbsp; She would arrive at family get togethers loaded with fried chicken, pie and homemade bread.&nbsp; Her bread &nbsp;won her ribbons at the Mid-American Fair.&nbsp;

Mary was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary, attended Redeemer Lutheran Church at Lake Wabaunsee.Mary is survived by her sister-in-laws, Anna Mae Anderson and &nbsp;Jo-Ann Miller, brother-in-laws Dan Moege and Earl (Paula) Moege; and numerous nieces, nephews and grand- nieces and nephews.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Lou Cromer (Dale), Don (Mary Elizabeth) Anderson, Larry Anderson and Stephen Anderson, her niece Amy Lou Billesback and nephew.Alan Cromer.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;

Bruce Evans Rose of Junction City, Kansas passed away on October 6, 2025 at home. He was born on August 2, 1947 to Malcolm E. “Jack” Rose and Doris Elizabeth (Highfill) Rose at the Holton Hospital, Holton, Kansas.

He lived in Holton his entire childhood until his High School graduation in 1966. He spent a lot of his childhood at the Holton Swimming Pool which was managed by his father. He worked there throughout his early life and taught many children in the Holton area how to swim through the Red Cross Swim program. He was also a very active scouter starting as a cub and reaching his Eagle Scout Status. He was a delegate to the International Ramboree in Darby, England in 1965.

He joined the National Guard in 1966 in Manhattan, Kansas and was sent to Ft. Ord, California in 1967 for combat training. He also served in the Army Reserve until his discharge in 1972. He was proud to be a part of the Honor Guard at the funeral of Dwight D. Eisenhower in Abilene, Kansas.

Bruce attended Kansas State University and was a member of Delta Chi fraternity. He attended for 1 year then went to military training in California. After returning he attended Emporia State University for 1 semester then returned to Kansas State University to complete his degree in 1971.

On August 4, 1968, he and Carolyn Klahr were married in Holton, Kansas. To their union, their daughter, Lisa Elizabeth was born. Carolyn and Bruce celebrated their 57th anniversary before his death.

After his graduation in May, 1971, Bruce accepted a position with the Kaw Council Boy Scouts of America in Kansas City, Kansas. He served as a Boy Scout Professional and Explorer Scout Professional until his resignation in August of 1974 to pursue the purchase of a business. Bruce and Carolyn purchased West Acres Greenhouse and Floral in Junction City, Kansas. He operated and managed the Greenhouse and Landscaping part of the business until its sale in 2000.

His last career change took place in 2001 when he became the Horticulture Instructor at the Women’s Correctional Facility in Topeka, Kansas. During his tenure there he added 2 new greenhouses to the facility and conducted classes in horticulture and plant growing. He and his staff planted all the floral plantings each spring for the capital, statehouse and governor’s mansion. He retired in 2013.

Bruce loved traveling with his family, gardening, landscaping and spending time outdoors and collecting Western memorabilia.

He hunted with great friends every year for 45+ years and hosted many weekend hunts from their home.

He also loved fishing trips to Red Lake, Canada with Carolyn and friends and the fly-in fishing with his pals to remote lakes in Canada.

One of the highlights of his life was spending a week on the USS Constellation with his nephew and father as the ship came into port in Hawaii.

After retirement he spent many hours as a volunteer for Wheels of Hope, Geary Co. Food Pantry and Eagle Scout Review boards.

He was a 50+ year member of the United Methodist Church of Junction City and past member of Rotary, Chamber of Commerce and 101 Ranch Collectors Assn.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn, daughter Lisa Rose-Michalski and husband Mark, Wichita, KS. Grandchildren: Aden Michalski, Bastrop, TX and Maya Michalski, NYC. Sister: Leah Cornelssen, Goodyear, AZ as well as many loving nieces, nephews and many friends.

His remains will be cremated. An informal celebration of life for Bruce to share your special memories with family and friends will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in the Bobo Room at First United Methodist Church located at 804 N Jefferson St, Junction City, Kansas, 66441.

Born on July 27, 1931, in Mountain Park, Oklahoma, though she always claimed to be from The Bay Area in California. Phyllis lived a life dedicated to family, faith, and the simple joys of life, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by many.

Phyllis married the love of her life, Brownie Newland, on her 17th birthday, July 27, 1948, in Richmond, California. Their bond was a true testament to love that lasts a lifetime; Brownie preceded her in death on April 26, 1999. Together, they created a family filled with laughter, warmth, and special memories, instilling values that will live on through their children and grandchildren.

As a caring and loving grandmother to all who knew her, Phyllis had a heart that embraced everyone. She was known for always having Hershey chocolate on tap, a sweet symbol of her generous and nurturing spirit. Each delicious piece was a reminder of her love, wrapped in sweetness and shared moments that brought families together.

Her passion for life extended to her hobbies and interests. Phyllis was not only a devoted grandmother but also an accomplished crocheter, famously crafting wonderful baby blankets that became treasured within her family and church community. Her creative touch made every stitch a warm hug that will be remembered fondly. As a faithful member of the Church of Christ throughout her life, her faith was a guiding light, showcasing her dedication to her beliefs and community. James L. Sader, affectionately known as "Jim," was born on August 20, 1939, in Ramona, Kansas. He left this world peacefully on October 4, 2025, in Junction City, Kansas, surrounded by the memories of a life well-lived.

James married the love of his life Rosie McFall on August 21, 1960 in Salina, Kansas at Trinity Lutheran Church. Together they moved to Junction City and started their family and life of love and laughter.&nbsp;

Jim began his professional journey in the insurance field after passing the Life Underwriter Exam in 1965, which marked the beginning of a rewarding 25-year career as an insurance agent in Junction City. His dedication to service extended beyond insurance; he also made significant contributions to the local economy by purchasing and operating a liquor store on the corner of 10th and Franklin for two decades. This entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to his community have left a lasting impact on those who knew him.

A man of many interests and a love for adventure, Jim cherished family vacations that took him across the country, with unforgettable memories created in places such as Hawaii, Texas, Colorado, South Dakota, and Nevada. His passions included avid reading and traveling, spending summers soaking up the sun in Fort Myers Beach, Florida.

Jim enjoyed living in Italy with his beloved wife, Rosie, for a couple of years while they traveled throughout Europe and parts of Africa. He was also deeply involved in his children's lives, serving as a basketball and football coach at Immanuel Lutheran School, where he nurtured the talents of young athletes.

Jim's love for family was profound and unwavering. He is survived by his son, Terry (Angela) Sader; daughter, Denise (Barrie) Loeb; grandchildren, Kristen, Lindsey, Caitlin, and Sydney; and great-grandchildren, Jackson, Caiden, Lincoln, and Alexander. He found immense joy in spending time with his grandchildren, creating a legacy of love that will continue through them.

He was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Rosie McFall Sader, who passed on November 8, 2011, his parents, Peter and Hanna Sader, and his siblings, sister LaDonna Sader and brother Gerald Sader.

The family invites all who knew Jim to celebrate his life during the visitation on October 15, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM, at Johnson &amp; Mass-Hinitt Cremations, Funerals &amp; Receptions in Junction City, Kansas. A graveside service will take place later that day at 12:30 PM at Lewis Cemetery in Ramona, Kansas.

Willis Leon Stokes, affectionately known as Willie, was born on March 17, 1961, in Iola, Kansas, and he entered into eternal rest on October 3, 2025. Willie's life was one marked by dedication, warmth, and a spirit that brought joy to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Willie served in the National Guard from 1986 for nine years, a testament to his commitment to his country and community. His military service was an embodiment of his character: strong, determined, and generous.

For 24 years, Willie proudly served as a foreman at HAMM Companies, contributing to projects across the state and occasionally traveling to Nebraska. His strong work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident in every task he undertook. Willie’s presence in the workplace was felt by many, as he was not only a leader but also a friend to his coworkers. He believed in the value of hard work, and this was just one of the many lessons he imparted to those around him.

Willie's personality was wonderfully multifaceted. He was known for his ornery yet affectionate demeanor, never meeting a stranger and always ready to lend a helping hand. His generosity knew no bounds, making him a beloved figure among friends and family alike.

Willie had a variety of interests and hobbies that brought him joy. He loved fishing and found tranquility in woodworking. He was also passionate about engaging in mission trips to the Sangre De Cristo seminary in Colorado, where he could give back to the community, reflecting his unwavering commitment to service.

Family was at the heart of Willie's life. He married the love of his life, Barbara Baysinger, on December 15, 1978, in Ottawa, Kansas. Together, they nurtured a family that includes their daughter Michelle (Randall) Stanford and their son Clifford (Crystal) Stokes. He took immense pride in his role as a father, often creating lasting memories through day trips and spontaneous outings, whenever anyone wanted to take a drive and explore the sights.

Willie's legacy extends to his grandchilden, Darrell, Alyx, William, Mark, Deana, and Brianna, who will always cherish the moments spent with their loving grandfather. His sisters, Lois Mix and Linda Cole, stand as reminders of the family connections that shaped his life.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harlan B. and Revona Stokes, as well as his brothers, Archie Stokes, Ed Stokes, Harlan L. Stokes, Delbert Stokes, and sister Donna Hollingsworth. Their memories remain intertwined with Willie's story, shaping the man he became and the values he upheld.

Jean Marie King (Green) passed away on September 9, 2025, at the age of 92, at her home in Junction City Kansas.

Jean was born on March 13, 1933 in Macks Creek, Missouri, to Levi Green and Eda (Parks)Green. &nbsp;Jean married James Eslie King on August 4, 1951 in Evansville, Indiana while Jim was stationed at Camp Breckinridge, Kentucky. They shared 73 years together and were the parents of two sons. &nbsp;

When Jim was stationed in Germany, Jim, Jean and their sons would take trips every chance they were able to, driving to Italy and the Netherlands and attending Oktoberfests.

Jean worked in civil service at Fort Riley, Kansas for many years until she retired. Jean enjoyed gardening, sewing and always had many beautiful flowers in her yard. &nbsp;Jean and Jim purchased a home in Milford, Kansas and enjoyed many summers at Milford Lake on the pontoon boat. &nbsp;There were also many Sunday dinners with the family enjoyed at the house in Milford. &nbsp;

In 1981, Jean planned a trip for she, Jim, Mike, Rodney, Leta, Jasmine and Michelle in the motor home to California and Oregon to visit family. &nbsp;There were other trips in the motor home to Macks Creek, Missouri where they would travel for family reunions.

Jean was preceded in death by Jim on March 29, 2024; her son, James Michael (Mike) King; her daughter-in-law, Leta King; &nbsp;her parents, her brothers, Bill, George, Earl, John and Murel and her sister’s Hilda Yager, Mary Hodge, and Joan Linton.

Jean is survived by her son, Rodney King of Junction City, Kansas; granddaughters, Jasmine Stewart (Mike), Michelle King, and Emily King; her grandson’s Brian and Jeffery; and her great grandchildren, Audrienna Stewart, Alaina Stewart, Colton Stewart and Julian King, all of Junction City, Kansas and her sister, Edna Mae Preciado, of Claremore, Oklahoma. &nbsp;

Jean and Jim lived in Milford, Kansas until 2015 when they moved back to Junction City to be closer to Rodney and Leta and the kids where Jean remained until her passing. &nbsp;

Ida was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on July 11,&nbsp; 1974 in Junction City, Kansas.

Ida cared deeply about others and drew people in with her&nbsp; warmth and straightforwardness. She was loyal, faithful, and&nbsp; remained devoted to serving Jehovah until the very end. Ida’s&nbsp; strength, determination, and love for teaching others about&nbsp; God’s TRUTH were evident to all who knew her.

Her dedication to her faith was unwavering; Ida rarely missed&nbsp; meetings. Even when attending in person became difficult, she&nbsp; made sure to be present on Zoom, demonstrating her&nbsp; commitment and reliability. She was truly one of the spiritual&nbsp; pillars in the congregation, offering support and encouragement&nbsp; to others through her steadfast example.

Beyond her spiritual life, Ida was also a respected member of&nbsp; the community. Everyone who interacted with her was touched by her kindness, including the children and their parents of who&nbsp; attended the day care she lovingly operated in her home for&nbsp; many years. Through her dedication, warmth, and caring nature,&nbsp; Ida left a lasting impression on all those whose lives she touched.

David Lynn Miller passed away peacefully in his Junction City, Kansas home on the evening of Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at 71 years of age. David was born in Fort Hood, Texas on June 6th, 1954 to McKinley and Doris Miller, both of whom preceded him in death, and is survived by a brother, Mark Miller, and two sisters, Barbara Parker and Pamela Hardesty.

David spent 4 years in the Navy, right after high school. He returned home in 1977 to marry his high school sweetheart, Brenda ‘Lee’ Morrow, who preceded him in death in 2005, after 27 years of marriage. He worked at the Woolworth Corporation warehouse for 15 years before settling into various civil service positions with Supply and Service Division for 407th AFSBn at Fort Riley, until his retirement in 2023.

David was known for his warm smile, reserved but friendly and kind disposition, his love of fishing, boating, and camping, and an epic mythical dragon collection. He was a loyal friend, brother, uncle, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, a generous neighbor happy to help replace your roof or just share a drink, and animal lover, especially Dobermans. David loved deeply and genuinely, worked hard and played hard. With a knack for DIY endeavors; he took pride in the complete renovation of his home of nearly 30 years, taking it down to the studs, turning it into a beautiful modern home.

David is also survived by a daughter and son-in-law; Tracie and Greg Dessart, a granddaughter; Lilliana Anderson, two grandsons and step-grandson; Noah Miller, Nehemiah Orona, and Spencer Dessart, two great-grandsons; Aryus Miller and Aydrian Miller (due October 11th), and a step-great-granddaughter; Kylah Casarez.

David will be cremated and his ashes will be distributed, along with Brenda Lee’s ashes, into the Pacific Ocean. A memorial will be planned, with dates to be determined.

He was a loyal friend, brother, uncle, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, a generous neighbor happy to help replace your roof or just share a drink, and animal lover, especially Dobermans. David loved deeply and genuinely, worked hard and played hard. With a knack for DIY endeavors; he took pride in the complete renovation of his home of nearly 30 years, taking it down to the studs, turning it into a beautiful modern home.David is also survived by a daughter and son-in-law; Tracie and Greg Dessart, a granddaughter; Lilliana Anderson, two grandsons and step-grandson; Noah Miller, Nehemiah Orona, and Spencer Dessart, two great-grandsons; Aryus Miller and Aydrian Miller (due October 11th), and a step-great-granddaughter; Kylah Casarez.David will be cremated and his ashes will be distributed, along with Brenda Lee’s ashes, into the Pacific Ocean. A memorial will be planned, with dates to be determined.

&nbsp;Carolyn Sue Blenn, 88, of Westmoreland, Kansas, passed away on Monday (September 30, 2025) at Wellsprings of Westmoreland.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Born December 19, 1936 in Braymer, Missouri, Carolyn was the daughter of William “Willie” and Mary Belle (Bowers) Simkins.&nbsp; She married Galen Dean Blenn on September 2, 1956 in Emmett, Kansas. He preceded her in death on March 14, 2007.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Faith was an important part of Carolyn’s life.&nbsp; She was a longtime member of the Westmoreland United Methodist Church where she was active with the ladies group serving funeral dinners and had served as treasurer for the United Methodist Women for several years.&nbsp; Carolyn was also a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed the fellowship with the other ladies.

&nbsp;&nbsp; Carolyn loved caring for her family, staying home to raise her children and serving as a Den Mother for the Girl Scouts.&nbsp; She also had worked at Hoffman Pharmacy in Westmoreland and as a telephone operator in St. Marys.

&nbsp;&nbsp; Survivors include her son in law, Jody Decker of Westmoreland, KS; two grandchildren, Chester Decker of Westmoreland, KS and Cristina Decker of Topeka, KS; two great grandchildren, Devin Decker and Kylie Boyce; and several nieces and nephews.

&nbsp;&nbsp; Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Galen; a son, David Dean Blenn; a daughter, Debra Sue Decker; and her siblings, Helen Mae, Billie Eugene, twins, Anna Vee and Genevieve, Donald, Mary Christine, Robert, Peggy, Reta June, Ivan Lee, Patsy and Charles.

&nbsp;&nbsp; Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon (October 7, 2025) at 2:00pm at the Westmoreland United Methodist Church with Pastor Bryan McBride officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow at the Westmoreland City Cemetery.

Carolyn Sue Blenn

&nbsp;&nbsp;Roger L. Schwalm, 85, a longtime former Alma resident, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025 at St. Mary Manor in St. Mary, Kansas.

&nbsp;&nbsp; Born April 29, 1940, in Alma, Kansas, Roger was the son of John E. and Eleanor Elizabeth (Tenbrink) Schwalm.&nbsp; A man of strong faith, Roger was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Alma. He was also a member of The Legion of Mary, the Knights of Colombus, and active in several prayer groups in the area and came to know many people and form many friendships through these activities.&nbsp; Roger made trips to Our Lady’s shrine in Medjugorje, Bosnia Herzegovina. He remained prayerful throughout his life, particularly during his struggle with Parkinson’s disease and was an inspiration to the staff and residents at St. Marys Manor in St. Marys.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Roger served in the National Guard in the early sixties.&nbsp; He earned a master’s degree in counseling with an undergraduate in History from Emporia State University.&nbsp; He farmed the family farm for many years and later was a real estate agent.&nbsp; Roger retired from the maintenance department at Kansas State University.

&nbsp;&nbsp; An avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and sportsman, Roger played fast pitch softball for the Alma town team when he was younger. For many years, he coached youth basketball and enjoyed teaching the fundamentals of the game. He also enjoyed playing a good game of five-point pitch whenever the opportunity presented itself.

&nbsp;&nbsp; Survivors include three sisters, Darlene Bloomfield of Wamego, KS, Mary Button of Portland, OR and Letha Elsasser of Salina, KS; a brother, John Raymond Schwalm (Marilyn) of Nortonville, KS; and many loving nieces and nephews.

&nbsp;&nbsp; Roger was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings: Fr. Donald Schwalm, Dorothy Ronnau (Theophil “T”), Edna Baldwin (Robert), Wilma Willmer (Jack), Nyla Schwalm and Maxine “Mickey” Schwalm; and three brothers-in-law, John R. Bloomfield, Bob Button and Terry Elsasser.

Roger Schwalm

Nathen William 'Nate" Boyce, age 44, died September 23, 2025, at Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, Kansas, after lifelong health and medical struggles.

He was a member of Cross Point Church in Wamego and had a sincere faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. At 4 months of age, Nathen started showing symptoms of what was later called "auto-immune bowel disease" with his own immune system attacking his body. Nathen was the first baby to leave KU Medical Center on home TPN care in March of 1982, where mom and dad dedicated their lives to providing the best home IV care they could. Through years of experimental drug programs and the dedication of Dr. Jon Vanderhoof in Omaha, Nebraska, Nathen's disease was held in a level of control that gave him a functional life. He was finally able to have the permanent IV catheter removed in October of 2006

Nathen is the son of Bill and Christy Hall Boyce of Wamego. Growing up on the family farm with his older sister Bethany Garren (Jarad) and his younger sister Rachele Thompson (Michael), he developed a love of farming with dad and grandpa and helped as much as his medical condition allowed. He could operate anything on the farm from planting, spraying, to combining. Nate was a natural helper.

Nathen attended Wamego schools from kindergarten through 8th grade and then was home-schooled with his younger sister Rachele through high school and graduated in 2000. In 1997, Nathen joined his dad in the hobby of long track kart racing, and he was instantly successful with his short stature and aggressive driving skills. He raced at Daytona Speedway, Road Atlanta, Heartland Park Topeka, Hallett Raceway, Oklahoma, Gateway in St. Louis, Motorsports Park near Ft Worth, TX, Lake Afton near Wichita, KS, and several more, winning several national titles and many local series races. He was known by racers all through the Midwest as a threat to win whenever he could race.

Angie survives at their home. After all the years of being on strong medicines and being told that children were probably not going to happen, they were blessed with their first child, Natasha, in June of 2009, then again blessed with a son, Memphis, in August 2010, and one more time, Serenitie, in March of 2015. Angie started developing signs of Multiple Sclerosis during her pregnancy with Serentie. Nathen went from being cared for to being the caregiver for Angie until his death.Nathen is survived by his parents, Bill and Christy, wife Angie, children Natasha, Memphis, and Serenitie; sisters Bethany (Jarad) and Rachele (Michael), nieces and nephews Mason, Ethan, Marshall, and Turner Garren; Evelynn, William, Henry, and Ayla Thompson; and several extended family members.Nathen was preceded in death by his grandparents, Everett and Viola Boyce, John and Illa Hall. Nathen never had an enemy and was liked by all who had time to converse or joke around with him. He made friends quickly and had quite a sense of humor. His non-threatening stature and outgoing personality drew people to him, and they left feeling better for knowing him.A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Nate will lie in state starting at 4:00 p.m. at Campanella &amp; Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego.
