Matthew William Parsons, affectionately known as Matt, was born on January 24, 1976, in Denver, Colorado. He departed this life on February 16, 2026, in Junction City, Kansas. Matt lived a life filled with love, devotion, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community.

A multifaceted individual, Matt embraced many vocations throughout his lifetime, including as a police officer, firefighter, and mechanic. His journey began when he established his own business, showcasing his incredible work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. Known as a jack-of-all-trades, he was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, embodying a generous spirit that touched the lives of many.

Matt cherished the moments spent with his family, particularly the joyful times of singing and dancing with his youngest daughter, Katiana. Their relationship was one of deep friendship, where she had her daddy wrapped around her finger, a testament to the bond they shared. He was a loving and devoted father to all his children—Christian, Kaden, Riley, Abbigale, and Katiana—pouring his heart into every moment he spent with them.

His marriage to Kathryn "Katie" Kimmel on May 5, 2014, in St. Joseph, Missouri, marked a beautiful chapter in his life. Together, they created a loving and intimate family, welcoming their miracle baby, Katiana, into the world in 2023. Matt's pride in his family was evident, especially in how he supported Katie during her time in the United States Army and beyond. He took immense pride in his children, feeling truly blessed to be an integral part of their journeys.

Matt was known not only for his big heart but also for his infectious laughter and ability to make others smile. He was known to always tell a "dad" joke when ever the opportunity arose. He had a hug that could heal any hardship and was always ready to offer comfort to those around him. His creativity shone through even in the simple gestures he made; he often played guitar for Katie and penned beautiful poetry that spoke of his love for her.

A lifetime learner, Matt was always eager to explore new interests, whether it involved cars, fishing, guns, or connecting with nature. He was a total history buff and read as much world history, US history, and ancient history as often as he could. He enjoyed traveling and cherished quiet moments sipping coffee while attentively listening to his wife. His fondness for a good conspiracy added a playful touch to his already vibrant personality.

Matt is survived by his beloved wife, Katie Parsons; his sons, Christian, Kaden, and Riley; his daughters, Abbigale and Katiana; his sisters, Deanna Parsons and Angela McGowen; and his brother, Joseph Parsons. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Parsons and Karen Schilling, as well as his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Genevieve “Genny” Diederich, 86, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka.

&nbsp;&nbsp; Genny was born February 15, 1940 to Lawrence and Barbara (Rebitzer) Umscheid, at their family home near Flush, Kansas. Genny was the youngest of twelve children. She graduated from Flush High School in 1958.

&nbsp;&nbsp; On June 6, 1959, Genny was united in marriage to Doyle Francis Diederich, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Flush, Kansas. After nearly 60 years of marriage, Doyle preceded her in death on January 10, 2019.

&nbsp;&nbsp; Genny devoted her early married years to raising their two children, Becky Heinrichs (Jeff) of New Port Richey, FL and Tim (Lisa) of Wamego, KS; and supporting Doyle throughout his working years. In addition, she worked part-time cleaning houses for families, many of whom became lifelong friends, a testament to her genuine care for others.

&nbsp;&nbsp; Genny enjoyed being a grandmother to April Diederich, Casey Woltje (Eric), Korhy Flanary (Megan), Kahm Flanary (Honesty), and Aaron and Emmah Heinrichs, as well as to her and Doyle’s eight great-grandchildren, Adler, Brooks and Emrie Woltje, Oliver, Nancy and Lincoln Flanary, and Walker and Evelyn Flanary. Genny was also a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews who considered her their second mom.

&nbsp;&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Doyle; five sisters, Irene Mills, Helen Brazzle, Angie Brazzle, Betty Jane Duncan, and Isabel Winterman; and six Umscheid brothers, Wayne, Don, Lawrence Jr., Cletus, Carl, and Miney; and several nieces and nephews.

&nbsp;&nbsp; Genny and Doyle shared a love of travel, especially to the Branson, Missouri and Arkansas areas. Each year, they continued a special tradition of purchasing an angel to add to Genny’s cherished collection. They also hosted annual summer family trips to Holiday Island, Arkansas, creating treasured memories that their children and grandchildren will forever hold dear. In recent years she enjoyed traveling to spend time with her daughter and family in Florida and participating in sewing trips with her nieces.

&nbsp;&nbsp; Genny was known for her homemade noodle soups, chocolate sheet cake, and Christmas candies, especially peanut brittle which she made in abundance so that she could send a gift box of it home with each family member. Her kitchen was a place of comfort, laughter, and love.

&nbsp;&nbsp; An avid bowler, Genny participated in ladies’ leagues throughout her entire adult life, continuing until the age of 85. She also enjoyed traveling with her bowling teams to compete in tournaments, but more importantly, treasured the deep friendships and joyful memories made along the way.

&nbsp;&nbsp; Genny was a lifelong member of the Catholic faith. After Doyle’s passing, she and her two sisters became known at St. Bernard Catholic Church as the “three sisters”, because they attended mass together every Saturday evening.

&nbsp;&nbsp; Genny will lie in-state Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at Campanella &amp; Stewart Funeral Home, Wamego, Kansas beginning at 2:00 PM. The family will then greet friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, followed by recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM.

&nbsp;&nbsp; Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Wamego, Kansas on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 10:30 AM followed by a luncheon at 11:30.

&nbsp;&nbsp; A graveside committal service will be at 2:00 PM at St. Joseph Cemetery in Flush, Kansas.

C. Eugene McCreath, a cherished husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026, in Manhattan, Kansas, at the age of 84. Born on August 12, 1941, in Junction City, Kansas, Eugene's journey was marked by a profound commitment to family, hard work, and a passion for the land.

Eugene graduated from White City High School with the class of 1959. He began his professional career working for several metal fabrication companies, honing the skills for which he would become well-known. In the 1980s, he entered the cattle ranching business, an endeavor that allowed him to bond closely with his son, Evan. Together, they dedicated themselves to the ranches, spending countless hours in each other's company, cultivating not only the land but also their father-son relationship.

Married on September 4, 1959, to Rosemarie Evans at the Methodist Church Parsonage in White City, Kansas, Eugene found joy and strength in their partnership. He was a strong family man who took immense pride in supporting his children and grandchildren, never missing a sports event or an opportunity to cheer them on. His legacy of love and encouragement profoundly impacted his family.

Eugene was known for his exceptional welding skills and was often called upon to repair or create just about anything anyone could envision. This handy work was not just a skill; it was a reflection of his generous spirit and willingness to help those around him. He was a true family man and an adoring grandfather, cherishing every moment he spent with his beloved grandchildren and animals on his farm.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rosemarie McCreath; sons, Alex (Dana) McCreath of Maize, Kansas, and Evan (Theresa) McCreath of White City, Kansas; daughter Vanessa (Mike) DeWeese of Cunningham, Kansas; grandchildren Travis (Larissa) DeWeese, Erik (Kimber) DeWeese, Devon (Logan) Davis, Mason McCreath, Garrett McCreath, and Ryan McCreath; six great-grandchildren; and sister Karen Pio.

She had a unique flair, always enjoying the little luxuries like having her nails painted red and styling her hair. Her bold red nails were a signature of her vibrant personality. A true friend to many, Juanita was affectionately known as “Granny” throughout her community, a testament to her nurturing spirit and boundless capacity for love. She was always there to lend a helping hand, embodying kindness and compassion in everything she did.

Family was Juanita's focus and purpose. She relished playing board games, listening to music, and solving word searches with her children and grandchildren. There was hardly a birthday she ever forgot, for celebrating her loved ones was one of her proudest accomplishments. To be “Mom” to her children and a cherished grandmother to her grandchildren meant the world to her. She took great pride in her legacy, surrounded by her grandchildren—David, Angelica, Luis R., Maria, Valerie, Luis J. Charley Leon Pedro, 64, of Westmoreland, KS, passed away on Friday, February 15, 2026, at his home.He had moved to Kansas several years ago from Las Vegas, Nevada to be closer to family.

Charley was born on March 1, 1961, in Arcadia, California, the son of Charles L. and Judy (Ketner) Pedro.&nbsp; He attended local schools and graduated from Gladstone High School in West Covina, California. He also received a geology degree from the University of California.Charley worked for both Mead Lumber and Home Depot as a clerk. He also worked several years doing custodian work for various businesses.Charley belonged to the Rock and Mineral Club in Las Vegas.&nbsp; He was also a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians in Las Vegas and over the years entertained friends and family with his many tricks.&nbsp; 

Charley loved collecting movies and was especially fond of anything John Wayne, God’s Not Dead, the Mission Impossible series. He also was an avid sports fan and faithfully followed the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians and the Los Angeles Lakers. 

Charley attended Rock Hills Church.Charley is survived by his sisters; Kelly Jo Andel (Patrick), Westmoreland and Kathleen Marie Pedro, Manhattan; his half siblings, Christopher Raya and Michael Kunz (Cynthia); and nieces and nephews, Tabitha Caudill, Katie Jo Andel, Ashley Fiedler (Christopher), Nelson Kawano, and Jonathan Andel, and his grandnieces and nephews, Brent, Charles, James, Kelly Jo, Kiera, Kolton, and Kenlie. Charley is preceded in death by his parents, his nephew-in-law, Lyle Caudill, and grandniece, Baby Hope.

He also received a geology degree from the University of California.Charley worked for both Mead Lumber and Home Depot as a clerk. He also worked several years doing custodian work for various businesses.Charley belonged to the Rock and Mineral Club in Las Vegas.&nbsp; He was also a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians in Las Vegas and over the years entertained friends and family with his many tricks.&nbsp; Charley loved collecting movies and was especially fond of anything John Wayne, God’s Not Dead, the Mission Impossible series. He also was an avid sports fan and faithfully followed the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians and the Los Angeles Lakers. Lynne Marie Bliss, a cherished social worker, beloved mother, devoted wife, and loving friend, departed this world on February 13, 2026, at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. Born on December 11, 1970, in Fort Riley, Kansas, Lynne grew up to embody compassion and strength, traits that would guide her throughout her life.

Lynne's professional journey took her to Sunflower State Health Centene Corporation, where she dedicated herself to helping others as a social worker. Her colleagues and clients alike benefited from her unyielding spirit, while her friends marveled at her effervescent laughter that could brighten any room. Lynne was not just an exemplary professional; she was a true friend, a confidant, and a source of joy to all who knew her.

Memories of Lynne are woven in the hearts of her loved ones. Her daughter Kaylynn fondly recalls the encouragement her mother offered her: "keep living your best life." This sentiment perfectly encapsulates Lynne’s approach to life—one filled with boundless love and encouragement. Rafael Anthony Rios Jr. was born on August 20, 1993, in Newark, New Jersey. He spent much of his childhood and young adulthood in Attleboro, Massachusetts, where he built the foundation of the person he would become.After earning his GED and working in the food industry, Rafael felt called to serve a greater purpose and enlisted in the United States Army as an Infantryman in 2019. 

His first duty station was Fort Carson, Colorado, where two years later he met the love of his life, Barbara. Together they built a life filled with love, later marrying and creating a warm and supportive home for his stepson, Vincent.In 2023, Rafael relocated to Fort Riley, Kansas, as part of a Permanent Change of Station. In early 2024, he deployed to Kuwait, where he served his country with courage and dedication. Upon his return and reunion with his family, Rafael’s commitment, integrity, and leadership qualities were recognized by his superiors. He was promoted to Corporal and then to Sergeant earning the respect of those who served alongside him.

After years of devoted military service, Rafael began considering new paths in life while continuing his search for purpose and meaning. Rafael passed away on the night of January 16–17, 2026, leaving behind his beloved wife, son, sister Sabrina and brother Emmanuel and other family members, friends, and fellow service members in profound disbelief and sorrow. Rafael will be remembered for his strong character, infectious laugh, comforting hugs, and the personal code of honor by which he lived every day. His presence and impact will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Inge Marianne (Gunzler) Smith, 82, of Junction City, Kansas, passed away in Kansas City, Missouri, on February 10, 2026.

Inge was born in Hochst, Germany, on October 10, 1943 to Wilhelm and Gretel Gunzler. She attend school in Unterliederbach, Germany and was a high school graduate. She moved to the United States in 1966.

Inge was married to Willie James Smith on April 21, 1965. They were married for 17 years. After their divorce, Inge and Willie remained friends.

She worked as a custodian for 30 years on Fort Riley, Kansas. She enjoyed good soul music, dancing, cooking, sewing and spending time with family and friends. Grandma's house was always the gathering place for the family to celebrate and spend time together. Most importantly, her famous basement parties that lasted until... Her most notable dish was her German potato salad, which was always a request of anyone that stopped by the house. Her daughters try hard to continue making this traditional German dish.&nbsp;

Inge was always a glamour girl and loved her Leopard prints and sparkly sequined attire, accompanied by a pair of high heels. Her warm and infectious smile and loving personality made everybody feel welcomed.&nbsp;

Inge will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Inge lived in Junction City, Kansas for over five decades. In July of 2024,&nbsp;she moved to Kansas City, Missouri to be closer to her daughter Marion.

Inge is survived by her ex-husband, Willie; daughters Monica (Ronni) Smith of Junction City, Marion Smith of Kansas City, Missouri and Dawn Basemore of Topeka; grandchildren Robert, Nicole, Marquas, DaNeale, Courtni, Dominique, and Isaiah; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister Gabriele Gunzler; her twin brother Manfred Gunzler; and many other family and close friends.

Born on December 9, 1939, in Topeka, Kansas, Barbara Ann was the child of Rufus Mitchell and Viola Smith, who preceded her in death.&nbsp;

Barbara Ann enjoyed crossword puzzles, number painting and mind-stimulating games.&nbsp;

Barbara Ann is survived by children Ron Hall and his wife Sheila Hall, Tracie Bobian, and Jacquelyn Hall; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Robin Smith, grandson Derek Smith; and great-granddaughter, Narianna Williams.&nbsp;

Larry Gean Thierer, from Alma, Kansas, passed away peacefully at his home on January 15, 2026, at the age of 70.

&nbsp;Larry was born on February 12, 1955, in Wabaunsee County, Kansas, to parents Lowell Gene and Myrtle Mae (Gustafson) Thierer. Larry lived a life marked by devotion to his family, a stellar work ethic, and a passion for his profession.

&nbsp;He was united in marriage with Debra Jo Land on May 18, 1985, at the Alma United Methodist Church. She passed in 2017. Larry was a devoted caregiver to his beloved wife during her brave battle with cancer. His unwavering support and love during this challenging time reflected the deep bond they shared.

&nbsp;As the owner and mechanic of a roadside semi-truck service business, he served friends and strangers alike until his retirement in 2022. Known for his practical nature, Larry often wore his favorite color, safety orange. He was frequently seen wearing safety orange clothing, a nod to his career.

&nbsp;Larry had a lifelong love of trains that led him to volunteer at the Abilene &amp; Smoky Valley Railroad in Abilene, Kansas, for over a decade. His knowledge of engines and heavy farm equipment was crucial to the operation of the historical locomotives. He cherished his engineer's license, finding more pride in it than even in his Commercial Driver's License.

&nbsp;His commitment to his work was evident in every task he undertook, shaped by the values instilled in him during his upbringing on a diversified farm and ranch near Volland, Kansas. Larry took pride in being a fifth-generation steward of the family land. The land was home to ‘Molasses Days’, a Labor Day weekend event where you could cut sugar cane, express the liquid with a horse-drawn press, and cook the molasses in outside vats. The Thierer family also operated on their land the Mill Creek Museum, heldbarn dances, and had agricultural living history festivals from 1961 to 1982.

 Larry is survived by his cousin Janelle Fink; nephew Chris Wisneski (Stacy); great-nieces Ali Nunez (Felix) and Emily Decoster; and great-great nephews and nieces. He also leaves behind close friends from high school who fondly remember him, including Mark, Mel, and Jerry.

 Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Debra, his sister Joyce Mae Thierer, and his aunt Marguerite R. Fink.

Gary Colgrove, age 60, passed away in the morning hours of Sunday, January 25, 2026, in Kansas City, Missouri.

He was born on October 15, 1965, to parents Thomas and Dixie Colgrove in Manhattan, Kansas.

Gary was a man who experienced both the best and the worst in life. He was funny, smart, and stubborn. His greatest joys were talking to his friends, watching westerns with his dog, and cooking. He made great friends along the way and will always be remembered by those who knew and loved him.

Gary is survived by his dog, Lue; his son, Thomas Colgrove, and a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his Grandparents, Richard and Velma McCaslin, and his mother and father, Thomas and Dixie Colgrove.

He was funny, smart, and stubborn. His greatest joys were talking to his friends, watching westerns with his dog, and cooking. Jon E. Hill, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026, in Manhattan, Kansas, just two days after celebrating his 81st birthday. Born on February 7, 1945, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Jon led a life filled with dedicated service and cherished memories.

After proudly serving in the United States Army, Jon's professional journey took him to the Junction City Police Department, where he dedicated over 30 years of his life, ultimately attaining the rank of Captain. His commitment to law enforcement was paralleled by a deep sense of responsibility that permeated both his career and personal life. Remarkably, it was while executing a routine traffic stop that he first met Linda. Their union flourished, and they were set to celebrate a remarkable 54 years of marriage on February 14, 2026.

Beyond his professional achievements, Jon was a man of diverse interests. He adored spending time with Linda exploring the beauty of Colorado, particularly at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, with its breathtaking views of the continental divide. He often found himself wishing to book a haunted suite, embracing the charm of life’s little adventures. A patient but strict individual, Jon imparted lessons through his actions and afforded wisdom to those around him. He was known for his love of the outdoors, and found immense joy in fishing at Milford Lake, tending to his garden, and nurturing the local bird population.

Jon held a special place in his heart for his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Linda J. Hill; son Scott Russell and daughter-in-law Melissa; grandsons Collin (Elizabeth) Russell and Logan (Jessica) Russell; granddaughter Delaney Russell and her wife Jana; and great-grandsons Canton and Colter Russell.

Though he will be deeply missed, Jon joins his late parents, Donald Hill Sr. and Darl Miller, as well as his brothers, Donald Hill Jr. and Brent Hill, and sisters Carol, Barbara, and Marsh, along with his father-in-law Lake Watson and mother-in-law Aline Watson. His legacy of love, strength, and service will resonate among all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace.

Ernest M. Miller, a loving father and cherished "Pop pop", passed away on February 7, 2026, in Kansas City, Missouri, at the age of 65. Born on May 6, 1960, in Junction City, Kansas, Ernest's life was marked by passion, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to his family.

Throughout his life, Ernest exemplified an extraordinary spirit, particularly as a phenomenal basketball player during his high school years and his service in the United States Air Force, where he joined in 1978 and retired as a disabled veteran. His love for the game was matched only by his affection for his family; he always had a basketball in his hands, showcasing not just his athletic prowess but also his enjoyment of the sport.

Ernest was immensely proud of his family and often spoke of his greatest accomplishments—his sons Dominique Miller, Savoy Miller, and Matthieu Litfin; his daughters Kalani Fields, Tierra Anderson, and Tianna Finstad; and his five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The bonds he nurtured with his children and grandchildren brought him immense joy and fulfillment.

In addition to his family, Ernest is remembered for his love of music, appreciating it in all genres. This passion added depth and vibrancy to his character, allowing him to connect with those around him.

He is survived by his beloved sons and daughters, as well as his sisters Janet James and Janice Smith, who will continue to carry his memory in their hearts. Ernest was preceded in death by his parents Elijah Miller Jr. and Sondra Lee Miller, his granddaughter Erica Fields, and his sister Barbara Runnels.

Throughout his life, Carl demonstrated unwavering dedication and support for those he loved. He left school at the young age of 15 to help his mother raise his younger siblings, showcasing his commitment to family from an early age. On August 28, 1968, at the age of 17, he married the love of his life, Janice Carter, in Covington, Alabama, beginning a journey that would bring joy and strength to their family.

Carl's service to his country began when he joined the United States Army in 1974, where he excelled as an ace mechanic, ultimately earning the title of the best mechanic during his tenure. After 20 years of dedicated service, he retired proudly, having built a respected career as a "Minute Man." His military service was a significant part of his identity, as was his faith; he found Jesus Christ as his savior 16 years ago and embraced the teachings of the Bible, often expressing his devotion through worship and song.

As a father, Carl imparted valuable skills and lessons to his children, teaching them principles such as hunting, fishing, and the art of fixing anything. His influence on his sons, Eric (Teresa) Powell and Brad (Victoria) Powell, as well as his daughter, Diahonia "Dee" (Troy) Babst, is a testament to his character as a wonderful husband and great father.

Carl’s legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Chelsee, David John (Sara), Zackary, Kyla, Brittney (Steven), Amber (Gene), Aaron, Jadika, and Cadyn, along with his great-grandchildren: Brantley, Lillianna, Rosalie, Liam, Bailey, Gracie, Jackson, Beaux, Haizley, and another on the way. Each of them carries forward the lessons and love he instilled in them.

Richard David Waters, 70, passed away peacefully at home in Junction City, Kansas February 5, 2026. Cremation will take place and private services will be held at a later date.

Rick was born August 16, 1955, to Len and Virginia (Hartung) Waters and grew up on McDowell Creek, in Geary County on the Waters’ family farm.

He graduated from St Xavier’s High School in 1973 and then went to work for the US Postal Service where we worked for 38 years. He then worked for 14 years for Geary County Schools USD 475 until he finally retired in 2024.

Rick married Betty Crotzer April 12, 1995, and they enjoyed 30 years together.

He was blessed with two children Heather and Christian who were the pride of his life.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law Inge Crotzer, and nephews Ron and Damien Bramlage.

He is survived by his wife Betty and son Christian of the home, daughter, Heather (Jeremy) and grandkids Grace, Noah and Hannah Snyder of San Antonio, Texas; sister, Patti Wertzberger; brothers, Bill, Jim, Lenny and Michael Waters; nieces and nephews, Brenda, Amy, Jim Jr, and Marcus Waters, Collette Lowry, Michelle Carrier, and Christina Gantt; dog, Sparky and cat, Sassy.

Rick was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend and pet dad. He was known for his sense of humor, funny stories, and kindness. He was an avid gardener growing up on the Waters farm and was known throughout Junction City for his meticulously manicured lawn and landscape. He won Yard of the Month July 2, 2007. He was a huge sports fan especially of the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals, and Kansas State Wildcats. He held season tickets to the Chiefs for many years. His other hobbies included boating and riding his Harley.

Rick will be greatly missed and always remembered by those blessed to have him as family or a friend.

Harlan Eugene Hill  

Helen M Haynes (Cox), age 73, of Junction City, Kansas, passed away at her home on Monday, February 2, 2026. She was born in Yorktown, Texas, on October 28, 1952, to George and Grace Cox. Helen was baptized in November 1952 and grew up in Runge, Texas, before later moving to Taft. She was confirmed in June 1968 at Faith Lutheran Church in Taft, Texas. Helen graduated from Taft High School in 1970.

She met Donald Haynes while he was in the Navy and married him on June 26, 1971, at Faith Lutheran Church in Taft, Texas. They then moved to Junction City, Kansas. Helen's top priority was to find a church where she could feel at home. In 1974, she transferred her membership from Faith Lutheran in Texas to Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Junction City. There, she lived out her faith and served as a dedicated steward in various roles, including youth leader, Sunday school teacher, church council member, knitter of prayer shawls, choir singer, and coordinator of church luncheons, soup suppers, Thanksgiving dinners, and fundraisers.

As a mother, she was attentive and loving, nurturing her three children and encouraging them to pursue their dreams, even when it frightened her to let go. In addition to being a mother to several bonus children, she was a beloved "Memaw" to many who were fortunate enough to receive her love and care. She welcomed everyone with open arms and embraced them with kindness.

Helen worked at the Junction City Post Office and was a member of the Rural Letter Carriers Association (RLCA), where she served as a state steward for many years. She retired after more than 20 years of dedicated service.

Eager to contribute to her community, Helen volunteered at the Junction City Little Theater, where she brought characters to life through her skillful application of stage makeup and helped wherever needed. Her passion for the arts illuminated every productio

n, creating vibrant experiences for both the cast and audience.

As an avid crafter, Helen possessed a variety of talents, including card making, painting, barn quilt design, knitting, and basket weaving. She taught creative craft classes at the Dorothy Bramlage Public Library, generously sharing her skills with friends, family, and anyone eager to learn. She participated in events such as Apple Days, county fairs, and Pony Express Days, where she showcased her version of traditional prairie attire while weaving baskets. Additionally, she volunteered at Lincoln Elementary School for Kansas Day and with the Boy Scouts of America, demonstrating basket-weaving techniques to the youth.

Helen wholeheartedly supported her husband and sons in their festive endeavors, enthusiastically helping with decorations for the Freemasons, the York Rite, the Shriners, and heartfelt Memorial Day tributes. This joyful collaboration brought their family closer together while honoring important traditions.

Helen is survived by her loving husband, Donald Haynes, along with her sons, Robert Haynes and Wesley (Therasa) Haynes; her daughter, Bethany Brewer; and her treasured grandchildren, Jonas (Leigh) Moore, Wyatt Haynes, and Zoe Haynes. She is also survived by her sisters, Elizabeth (Kipp) Miller, Janie Chandler, and Georgia Elps (Glenn McElroy); and her in-laws, Vernon and Emma Manion, and Donna Haynes.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Grace Cox, as well as her in-laws, Byrle and Ruth Haynes. Additionally, she was preceded in death by her siblings-in-law: Lois Claus, Sidney Chandler, Margret Haynes, Carol Haynes (Roger Selken), and Ronald Haynes.

Visitation will be held on February 15, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Johnson &amp; Mass-Hinitt Funeral Home, located at 203 N Washington St, Junction City, KS 66441. A funeral service will take place the following day, February 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Pastor Nancy Mitchell officiating. Helen was baptized in November 1952 and grew up in Runge, Texas, before later moving to Taft. She was confirmed in June 1968 at Faith Lutheran Church in Taft, Texas. Helen graduated from Taft High School in 1970.She met Donald Haynes while he was in the Navy and married him on June 26, 1971, at Faith Lutheran Church in Taft, Texas. They then moved to Junction City, Kansas. Helen's top priority was to find a church where she could feel at home. In 1974, she transferred her membership from Faith Lutheran in Texas to Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Junction City. &nbsp; Donald R. Puett, age 79, of Manhattan, passed away February 3, 2026.He was born on February 11, 1946, the son of Glen and Marie Puett. Don grew up in the Ashland Community south of Manhattan. He graduated from Manhattan High School with the class of 1964 and served in the Army National Guard for many years. He worked as a truck driver for different companies. 

Don enjoyed hunting and being outdoors. He loved animals of all kinds, especially his cats who he always made sure they were taken care of.On July 5, 2005, he was united in marriage to his wife Connie. She preceded him in death on April 12, 2022. Also preceding him death were his brothers and sisters.Don is survived by his stepson, Darin Morgan (Jennifer), of McCook, Nebraska, his many nieces and nephews and many other family members and friends.

Corinne was born on November 20, 1931, in White City, Kansas, to Earle and Cora (Kamm) Evans. She was the fourth of eleven children and graduated from White City High School.

Corinne was fortunate to find love twice in her life. Her first love was her high school sweetheart, Veryl Dale McCulle, whom she married on July 30, 1952. Tragically, Veryl passed away less than five months later. Though still young, Corinne carried on with strength and resilience, moving to Junction City, Kansas, where she later met her second love, John Spencer Larson Jr. They were married on December 15, 1953, and together raised five children: Spencer Eugene, Jeffrey Lynn, Krystal Ann, Steven Grant, and David Allan Larson.

Family was the center of Corinne’s life. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren, over 30 great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, whom she loved spending time with.

A caregiver at heart, Corinne spent her life caring for others. She was endlessly creative—sewing dance costumes for her daughter and granddaughter, decorating her home with warmth and beauty, and delighting her great-grandchildren with personalized holiday gifts. Her gift wrapping was so beautiful that it was almost a shame to open the presents she gave you. She was also an accomplished gardener, and her property reflected that passion, filled with beautiful blooms and a wide variety of plants that brought joy to all who visited.
