Robert Fredrick (Bob) Daily, 93, was born July 6, 1932, near Logan, Oklahoma to Archie and Nellie Anderson Daily, during the height of the Dust Bowl years. He went to be with the Lord on July 23, 2025, in Abilene, Kansas, surrounded by his family. The loss of our family patriarch has been a profound experience. He was our pillar of strength, wisdom, and unconditional love. We write this to honor his memory.

Bob spent his childhood in the panhandle of Texas, the oldest of five siblings. The Daily family worked hard during the Dust Bowl years. Bob’s entertainment was watching the steam engine trains pass by, leading to a lifelong passion with trains. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, earning a Purple Heart. Bob graduated from Kansas State University in 1957 and spent his career as a teacher and football coach. He impacted the lives of countless students, many who considered him a mentor and kept in touch throughout his life. He married Ruth Pierce in Kansas in 1953 and they had two children, James Bennett (Ben) and Marcia Colleen. He later married Carmen Raval Breeler in California in 1967 and from this union came four daughters- Barbara Sue, Brenda Lynn, Cynthia Lee, and Teresa Ann. His children and their families were his number one priority and he attended every special event in their lives.

Bob spent his retirement years traveling the country to visit his beloved family, earning him the nickname “Okie Rover”. Many remember the camera permanently hanging from his neck, capturing memories to share with his many friends and family on Facebook. Bob was a sports enthusiast, realizing its unique power to teach positive values. The California Angels and Kansas City Royals were his baseball teams and many a Father’s Day was spent at a Royals game. His final years were spent on his son Ben’s farm in Kansas, with frequent visits from his daughters and many relatives. Bob, Ben, and Francis were lovingly known as “The Three Daily Bachelors,” living the dream on the family farm.

Bob was preceded in death by his daughters Barbara Daily Evans, Brenda Daily Wentling, and Teresa Daily Allen. He was also preceded in death by his granddaughter Tawnee Bubak, great-grandson Creeden Bubak; sister, Beverly Dutcher, and brothers Darvin Jack Dailey and William (Bill) Dailey. Bob is survived by his sister Darlene Folks; sister-in-law Donna Dailey; his children Ben Daily, Solomon, Kansas; Marcia (Frank) Bubak, Olathe, Kansas, Cynthia (Michael) Alexander, Ludowici, Georgia; 15 grandchildren: Angela, Samantha, Alexandra, Sarah, Trevor, Mary, Austin, Derrick, Megan, Margaret, Francis, Katherine, Jacqueline, Maelyn, Macyn; 11 great-grandchildren: Ashley, Avree, Alexis, Jaynee, Jayana, Caliber, Madelyn, Thea, Levi, Alice, Lily; 5 great-great grandchildren: Kaison, Grace, Oakley, Jaelyn, Jordyn. To those many grandchildren he is “Gpa” (thanks Sami for the special nickname). He said his grandchildren are his best friends.

Although Bob’s physical presence may no longer grace our lives, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. Rodger Joyce Romberger was born July 27, 1946, in Clay Center, KS, the son of,J.W. and Gladys (Greep) Romberger. He graduated from Chapman High School in 1964 then attended Kansas State University 1 ½ years. He served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Annapolis and the USS Chesterfield during the Vietnam War. He served active duty from 1966 to 1969, then served in the Naval Reserve until his honorable discharge in 1972. He married Judy Lowry and they later divorced. He was a meter reader and a power plant employee for Westar Energy until his retirement at the age of 70.

He died peacefully after a lengthy illness at Bethany Home in Lindsborg, KS, on August 20, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. and Gladys Romberger; brother, Nelson Romberger; and sister, Debra Romberger. He is survived by his brother, Richard (Dee) Romberger, Abilene, KS; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A visitation will be held Friday, September 5, 2025 from 5-7pm at Danner Funeral Home in Abilene. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Talmage Community Church, Talmage, KS, on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 10:30am.

Cheryl Soderlund, 69 of Abilene passed away August 18, 2025. She was born January 16, 1956 in Tracy, Minnesota, the daughter of Kenneth and Rose (Gustaf) Christiensen. She attended school in Slayton, Minnesota and graduated in 1974. 

Cheryl worked for Brown Memorial as a Laundry Aid for 30 years. Cheryl is survived by her three brothers, Joe Christiensen and wife Margie; Richard Christiensen and Phillip Christiensen and wife Tina. One sister, Julie Baxter and husband Milton. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Aaron, brothers Robert and Kenneth JR and sisters, Carol Shuck and Virginia Wells.

Cheryl Soderlund

Evelyn was born in the Navarre area of Dickinson County to Ivan G. and Susie (Hostetter) Herr on June 13, 1918. Evelyn was a life-long member of the Church of the Brethren in Navarre until the church closed.

She attended Oread and Navarre Grade Schools and Abilene High School, from which she graduated in 1935. Following high school, Evelyn attended McPherson College, graduating in 1939. While in college, Evelyn met her future husband, LaVerne York of Adel, Iowa. They were married at the Navarre Church of the Brethren on September 10, 1939 and moved to a farm in the Navarre area. They had two children, Karen (York) Lundgrin and J. Bryce York.

As well as being a busy farm wife, Evelyn also became the clothing leader for the Navarre 4-H club and baked and decorated many wedding cakes. In the 1950s, Evelyn returned to college at Marymount in Salina to reactivate her teaching certificate. Starting in the 1956-57 school year, she taught at Ramona High School and eventually became a teacher at Lincoln Elementary in Abilene. After 44 years on the farm LaVerne and Evelyn retired to Abilene. They became Associate members of the First Methodist Church.

Evelyn was an accomplished seamstress and quilter. When she and LaVerne moved to Abilene, Evelyn became a member of the End of the Trail Quilt Guild. She was a member of Dickinson County Historical Society serving as a staff member for 25 years. She also volunteered at Memorial Hospital, Kennedy Elementary, the library, and Great Plains Theater. She was an avid reader and loved working crossword puzzles.

She and LaVerne loved traveling and visited nearly all of the states, including Hawaii. She continued traveling after LaVerne’s death and added Alaska, the Western Caribbean and the Panama Canal, at age 90, to the places she visited.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband LaVerne and her sister Mary Ruth (Herr) Wuthnow. She is survived by her children Karen Lundgrin of Overland Park and J. Bryce York and Karen of Prairie Village, two grandchildren Cynthia (John) Mason of Overland Park, KS and Daryn (Donielle) York of Breckenridge, CO and three great grandchildren Taylor Mason of Seattle, WA, Andrew Mason of Overland Park, KS and Isaac York of Breckenridge, Co, and a niece Susan (Wuthnow) Beddig of Germany.

Services will be held at 10 on September 6 at the First Methodist Church, Abilene, Kansas with burial following at the Abilene Memorial Cemetery.

Dale Holvorson, age 59, of Junction City passed away unexpectedly on August 20th. He is survived by two daughters, Michelle Holvorson of Wichita and Danyela Holvorson of Wellington, as well as his former wife Genoveva Holvorson of Wellington, and his sister Lori Gill of Key West, Florida.

&nbsp;Dale was a graduate of Junction City High School, and was formerly employed by Honeywell in Wichita as an aircraft instrument mechanic. He was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church, and sang in the Junction City community choir.

&nbsp;A memorial service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church at 1:00 pm on September 12th. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to the church.

Dale Holvorson

Joyce Ramona Glasson passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025, in Parker, Colorado. She was 95 years old and a lifelong resident of Wamego, Kansas, spending her final years at Morning Star Memory Center.

Born Joyce Lintz on December 23, 1929, to Delta Esther Cordts and Julius John Lintz of Wamego, she was later adopted by Alfred Emol Heiger of Manhattan, Kansas, after he married Delta in 1934. Joyce married Dennis Glasson Jr. on September 9, 1952, and was preceded in death by him on August 14, 1988.

She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Jo D. Clepper (Frank); two granddaughters, Eire Colleen of North Carolina and Sophie Josette at home; and her sister, Jeanette Ann Cantwell of Overland Park. She was preceded in death by her sister, Yvonne Esther Winchester.

Joyce graduated from Wamego High School in 1947. She began working at age 17 with W.C. Holtman Truck and Tractor, later joining Ford Motor Company and then Morton Motor Company, where she worked for 30 years before retiring at age 72.

She was active in Eastern Star, Tin Lizzies of Manhattan, served as a Girl Scout Leader, and was a member of the Business &amp; Professional Women’s Club. Joyce loved her home and caring for pets, a passion that remained strong even through her journey with dementia. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling, cruises, and attending hot air balloon festivals with her sisters and friends. Despite the challenges of dementia, she remained a favorite resident, known for her positive attitude, radiant smile, and warm hugs and kisses.

Her heavenly journey now begins, restored to youth, regaining her voice and mobility. “Mom, hug all your pets on the rainbow bridge, and never forget how much I love you.”

A celebration of life social hour will be held on Sunday (September 21, 2025) from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Campanella &amp; Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego.

A graveside service for family and close friends will be Monday (September 22, 2025) at 10:30 am in the Wamego City Cemetery.

Roxanne Fluharty, 72, of Alma, Kansas, passed away on Thursday (August 7, 2025) at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas.

Born August 28, 1952 in Manhattan, Kansas, Roxanne was the daughter of Walter and Dorothy (Bredow) Geisler. She married Wesley Fluharty on December 3, 1983. He preceded her in death on October 2, 2019.

Roxanne was employed as a Medical Assistant for a Dermatology Clinic in Topeka for many years until her retirement.

She enjoyed gardening, scrapbooking and tending to her chickens. Roxanne will be remembered for crocheting afghans which she donated to various shelters and for many babies in the area.

Survivors inlcude two children, Ryan Stokley of Alma and Shiela Rae Sipko (Daniel) of Gambrills, MD; a granddaughter, Rochelle Gardner (Tanner) of Alma; a great granddaughter, Raven Gardner; a sister, Marci Rump (Craig) of Galva, KS; a sister in law, Karry Geisler; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Roxanne was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wesley; and a brother, Daniel Geisler.

Cremation arrangements are in the care of Campanella &amp; Stewart Funeral Home in Alma.

Roxanne Fluharty

Beth Ann Peters, age 59, passed away unexpectedly on August 20, 2025. Born on October 31, 1965, in Washington, Kansas, she was the daughter of Holger and Marilyn (Buttenhoff) Moorman.

Beth grew up in Kansas and spent her youth surrounded by family, friends, and the strong values that would guide her throughout her life. She attended Wabaunsee schools, where she was active and involved in many activities. She played in the band all four years, served as sports editor of the school paper her junior year, and was a member of Future Business Leaders of America. In her senior year, she was honored to be elected class president. Her caring nature and determination were evident even as a young woman, shaping her path toward a life of service in healthcare.

Beth began her nursing journey shortly after graduating from Wabaunsee High School in 1984. She then studied at Kaw Valley Tech and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Continuing her education at Fort Hays State University, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science.

Her career spanned a variety of healthcare roles. She began in long-term care at Wamego Good Samaritan and Community HealthCare System, Onaga Hospital. She then specialized in ventilator care in the Long-Term Acute Care Unit at Select Specialty Hospital, Topeka, before working in the Intensive Care Unit at Mercy Regional Hospital in Manhattan. Throughout her career, she also served in numerous PRN roles, always willing to step in where care was needed. After her ICU work, Beth transitioned into nursing education at Manhattan Area Technical College (MATC), where she joyfully shared her knowledge and deep love of nursing with the next generation of nurses. Her final position was as a nurse investigator, overseeing the quality of care in nursing homes and hospitals on behalf of the state.

Beth lived a life that was both full and fulfilling, marked by service, faith, and love. Of all her roles, her greatest joy was being “Grandma.” She cherished every moment with her grandchildren, encouraging them to persevere, succeed, and never give up. Beth Ann Peters, age 59, passed away unexpectedly on August 20, 2025. Born on October 31, 1965, in Washington, Kansas, she was the daughter of Holger and Marilyn (Buttenhoff) Moorman.Beth grew up in Kansas and spent her youth surrounded by family, friends, and the strong values that would guide her throughout her life. She attended Wabaunsee schools, where she was active and involved in many activities. She played in the band all four years, served as sports editor of the school paper her junior year, and was a member of Future Business Leaders of America. In her senior year, she was honored to be elected class president. Her caring nature and determination were evident even as a young woman, shaping her path toward a life of service in healthcare.Beth began her nursing journey shortly after graduating from Wabaunsee High School in 1984. She then studied at Kaw Valley Tech and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Continuing her education at Fort Hays State University, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science.Her career spanned a variety of healthcare roles. She began in long-term care at Wamego Good Samaritan and Community HealthCare System, Onaga Hospital. She then specialized in ventilator care in the Long-Term Acute Care Unit at Select Specialty Hospital, Topeka, before working in the Intensive Care Unit at Mercy Regional Hospital in Manhattan. Throughout her career, she also served in numerous PRN roles, always willing to step in where care was needed. After her ICU work, Beth transitioned into nursing education at Manhattan Area Technical College (MATC), where she joyfully shared her knowledge and deep love of nursing with the next generation of nurses. David Raymond Brockish, known to many as Dave or Super Dave, 80, from Wamego, Kansas, passed away on August 9, 2025, at his home. He was a thoughtful neighbor, from pulling weeds to shoveling snow for them. He loved all forms of gardening, from tomatoes to flowers. He had a special bond with nature, and he delighted in making feed structures for squirrels and birds. Dave took immense pride in his sobriety, proudly celebrating his AA milestones since September 8, 1984. He loved supporting the Kansas City Royals, Kansas State University, and the Kansas City Chiefs sports team. His laughter while fishing or chopping wood could light up the dullest of days. 

Dave could often be found with six or more cameras on him at a time to capture all of life’s moments. You were fortunate if you received a great big sweaty bear hug from the friendly “Chewbacca”. Family was at the center of Dave’s universe. Heinz Wallace, 77, of Junction City, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, with his family by his side at Ascension Via Christi in Manhattan, Kansas.

Heinz was born August 26, 1947, in Stuttgart, Germany, to Luise Windbiel. He was lovingly adopted through marriage by Leonard Wallace, and in 1959 came to the United States. With Leonard’s military service, the family eventually settled in Junction City, which became Heinz’s lifelong home. He attended St. Xavier Catholic schools and graduated from Junction City High School. He became a United States Citizen in 1969.

On September 5, 1981, Heinz married the love of his life, Pam Hampton, in McCook, Nebraska. Together they built a family and raised their two children, Christopher and Sara. Heinz worked in the glass industry for 62 years, and alongside Pam, owned and operated Wallace &amp; Sons Glass in Junction City, where his craftsmanship and dedication became well known in the community.

Heinz will be remembered as a hardworking family man with a generous heart and a loyal circle of friends. He gave much of himself to his children’s activities, serving as a Little League baseball coach, Boy Scout leader, 4-H supporter, and the behind-the-scenes dad at countless dance recitals. Beyond family, Heinz found joy in fishing, hunting, dirt track racing, and restoring classic cars, attending shows to share his passion. A proud K-State Wildcat football fan, he rarely missed a game and held season tickets for many years.

Heinz was a lifetime member of the Geary County Fish and Game Association, where he served as a board member and participated actively in its programs. Among his&nbsp;many accomplishments, Heinz cherished his 45 years of sobriety, a testament to his strength, faith, and perseverance.

Heinz is survived by his wife Pam; his son Chris of Junction City; his daughter Sara (Andy) Larson of Randolph, Kansas; and his beloved granddaughter Clara Larson. He is also survived, from a previous marriage, by Melissa (Steve) Ice and their daughters, Lilly and Emma, of Overland Park; and by grandchildren Brittany K. Wallace and Bryce M. Wallace, children of his late son, Peter M. Wallace.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Luise; stepfather, Robert Ryan; and son, Peter M. Wallace.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 27, from 5:00-7:00 p.m., with family present. Funeral services will follow on Thursday, August 28, at 10:00 a.m., both at Johnson &amp; Mass-Hinitt Funeral Home in Junction City, Kansas. Richard H. Gfeller, a cherished member of the Junction City community, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025, at his rural residence in Geary County. Born on March 21, 1933, in Junction City, Kansas, Richard dedicated his life to his family, his farming enterprise, and the Hereford cattle he so dearly loved.

A visitation for Richard will be held on August 18, 2025, at Zion United Church of Christ in Junction City from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. followed by a funeral service at the same location at 11:00 AM with Pastor Erik Graefe officiating. Dick married the love of his life Earlene J. Edney on August 19, 1955 in Junction City, Kansas at Zion United Church of Christ. She was his devoted partner and helped him in everyway that she could, from housework to farm work.

For nearly seven decades, Richard owned and operated Gfeller Herefords, faithfully contributing to the agricultural landscape of Junction City since 1957. His unwavering commitment earned him numerous accolades from the American Hereford Association, culminating in the prestigious 50-Year Golden Breeders Award in 2019, which celebrated over fifty years of excellence in raising Hereford cattle.

Richard was more than a farmer; he was a great storyteller, regaling friends and family with anecdotes about his life and experiences in agriculture. His infectious humor and warm personality made him a beloved figure among those who knew him. Conversations with Richard were a source of joy and positivity, leaving individuals feeling uplifted and appreciated.

As a devoted father, Richard is survived&nbsp;&nbsp;by his two sons, Kenny Gfeller and his wife Debby, and Mike Gfeller and his wife Linda, all of Junction City, Kansas. He also leaves behind his daughter, Lori Glasgow and her husband Don of Loveland, Colorado, and his sister, Janice Carlton of Junction City, Kansas. His legacy will continue through his seven grandchildren: Jamie Breeden and her husband Tyler, Josh Gfeller and his wife Courtney, Justin Gfeller, Jennifer Gfeller, Jessica Glasgow, Landon Glasgow, and Amanda Smith and her husband Tyler, as well as ten great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy.

Richard was passionate about various interests that enriched his life, including fishing, hunting, gardening, playing the guitar, target shooting, and smoking various types of meat. He was also an ardent fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, supporting his team with conviction.

Richard "Dick" H. Gfeller

Gregory Henry Platt, known as Greg, 66, passed away on August 2, 2025, at his home in Wamego, Kansas. Greg was born on May 13, 1959, in Denver, Colorado, to parents Lawrence Glenn and Bonnie Dora (Gottlieb) Platt.

Greg began his illustrious military career in the enlisted Army National Guard of Kansas in 1976 at the young age of 16, with the consent of his parents. Over the years, his devoted service took him overseas to Germany, as well as to deployed locations in Afghanistan and Bosnia. He became a respected leader, spending time training and serving at various military forts across Kansas, New York, Georgia, Kentucky, and Oklahoma. In 1991, he was commissioned as an officer after graduating from Officer Candidate School as a Distinguished Graduate. 

Among his many achievements, he was particularly proud to have earned three Bronze Star Medals and a Legion of Merit Medal. After 37 years of dedicated service, Greg honorably retired from the military in June of 2013, holding the rank of Lieutenant Colonel as a Nuclear Weapons Specialist and Instructor. Outside of his military accomplishments, Greg was a passionate gun collector and enthusiast, which contributed to his ability to earn the Army Sharpshooter Badge. He cherished the camaraderie and memories created with his “Man Camp” group of friends, where they enjoyed camping and shooting together. 

Greg’s compassion extended beyond his military service, as he dedicated time to support others through his involvement with the Big Brother and Big Sister organization, American Legion, and Wounded Warrior Project. Greg is survived by his spouse, Brett Stewart-Platt, and children Autumn Platt-Cangelosi (Brandon) of Littleton, Colorado; Hendley Brook Carson (John) of Manhattan, Kansas; Michael Ames Howard II of Manhattan, Kansas; and Piper Howard Deans (Jay) of Olathe, Kansas. Greg was a proud grandfather to Maddox Stockebrand, Rowan Stockebrand, Lawson Deans, Harlan Deans, Halsey Deans, Henley Deans, Sophie Cangelosi, Aliey Cangelosi, and Izzy Cangelosi. Also mourning Greg’s loss are numerous nieces and nephews, and his faithful four-legged service dog, Valkyrie. 

Greg is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Geoffrey Platt, as well as his cherished service dog, LuLu. A memorial service will be held on August 22, 2025, at Campanella &amp; Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego, Kansas, at 10:00 a.m. In honor of Greg’s military service, please wear the colors red, white, and blue. Following the memorial service, attendees are invited to a luncheon at the Wamego Methodist Church. Afterwards, Greg will be laid to rest with the Fort Riley Army Detail and the American Legion Post 172 performing Military Honors at the Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery in Manhattan, Kansas, at 2:00 p.m.

Greg was a proud grandfather to Maddox Stockebrand, Rowan Stockebrand, Lawson Deans, Harlan Deans, Halsey Deans, Henley Deans, Sophie Cangelosi, Aliey Cangelosi, and Izzy Cangelosi. Also mourning Greg’s loss are numerous nieces and nephews, and his faithful four-legged service dog, Valkyrie. Greg is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Geoffrey Platt, as well as his cherished service dog, LuLu. Di is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Gary; her two children, Terry Gibson and Belinda Ward (Gibson), and their partners, Petia and Randy, respectively; grandchildren

Sharon Kaye (Lady) Evers was born September 7, 1944 in Abilene, Kansas the daughter of Gerald and Auline (Milham) Lady. She passed away Sunday, July 27, 2025 at Village Manor in Abilene.

Sharon grew up in the Abilene area, graduated from Abilene High School, and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Kansas State University. Sharon worked in banking her entire adult life and was Vice President of the Trust Department at US Bank in St. Joseph, Missouri until her retirement.

She was an avid sports fan, enjoyed cheering on the Kansas State Wildcats, and attended many football and basketball games throughout her life. She bled purple. She also enjoyed watching the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas City Royals whenever she could. She enjoyed traveling, and they went to every bowl game between 1982 and 2023. After retirement, Sharon enjoyed traveling to Estes Park where they spent the summer and enjoyed many campouts with the Good Sam’s RV Club. Most of all, Sharon enjoyed being with family.

Sharon spent many years volunteering on various boards. She was on the Kansas State University Foundation Board and the Kansas State University Alumni board for many years. She also was on the board of the United Way and Heartland Hospital in St. Joseph, Missouri. After living over 40 years in St. Joseph, Missouri, they moved back to Abilene four years ago.

On June 11, 1966 she was united in marriage to Richard Evers. He survives of the home. Other survivors include her brother Larry Lady (Carol) of Overland Park, Kansas, sister Donna Morgenson (Steve) of Ashland, Nebraska, and Debbie Davis of Abilene, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents Gerald and Auline Lady. She had numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Sharon will be Friday, August 15, 2025 at Emmanuel Church in Abilene with pastors Raymond Moore and Marc Riegel officiating. Robert Fredrick (Bob) Daily, 93, was born July 6, 1932, near Logan, Oklahoma to Archie and Nellie Anderson Daily, during the height of the Dust Bowl years. He went to be with the Lord on July 23, 2025, in Abilene, Kansas, surrounded by his family. The loss of our family patriarch has been a profound experience. He was our pillar of strength, wisdom, and unconditional love. We write this to honor his memory.Bob spent his childhood in the panhandle of Texas, the oldest of five siblings. The Daily family worked hard during the Dust Bowl years. Bob’s entertainment was watching the steam engine trains pass by, leading to a lifelong passion with trains. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, earning a Purple Heart. Bob graduated from Kansas State University in 1957 and spent his career as a teacher and football coach. He impacted the lives of countless students, many who considered him a mentor and kept in touch throughout his life. He married Ruth Pierce in Kansas in 1953 and they had two children, James Bennett (Ben) and Marcia Colleen. He later married Carmen Raval Breeler in California in 1967 and from this union came four daughters- Barbara Sue, Brenda Lynn, Cynthia Lee, and Teresa Ann. His children and their families were his number one priority and he attended every special event in their lives.Bob spent his retirement years traveling the country to visit his beloved family, earning him the nickname “Okie Rover”. Many remember the camera permanently hanging from his neck, capturing memories to share with his many friends and family on Facebook. Bob was a sports enthusiast, realizing its unique power to teach positive values. The California Angels and Kansas City Royals were his baseball teams and many a Father’s Day was spent at a Royals game. His final years were spent on his son Ben’s farm in Kansas, with frequent visits from his daughters and many relatives. Bob, Ben, and Francis were lovingly known as “The Three Daily Bachelors,” living the dream on the family farm.Bob was preceded in death by his daughters Barbara Daily Evans, Brenda Daily Wentling, and Teresa Daily Allen. He was also preceded in death by his granddaughter Tawnee Bubak, great-grandson Creeden Bubak; sister, Beverly Dutcher, and brothers Darvin Jack Dailey and William (Bill) Dailey. He was affectionately known as the go-to babysitter, and he embraced this role wholeheartedly, showering love and attention on every child in his life, particularly his own.

Throughout his life, Jamie was a passionate athlete, proudly participating in every sport imaginable—from flag football to baseball and track and field. His commitment to sports was a testament to his determination and competitive spirit, and his proudest accomplishments reflected not just his personal achievements, but also his dedication to teamwork and camaraderie.

He is lovingly remembered by his mother, Ruby Hankins of Junction City, Kansas; his sister, Antonina (Bryan) Dunevant of Houston, Texas; his brothers, Christopher (Rubenyon) Golden of Junction City, Kansas, and Ken (Shunta) Carey of Magnolia, Arkansas; and his sister, Shauntae Allen of Homer, Louisiana. Stephanie C. Upson passed away peacefully in her residence at Meadowlark Hills, Manhattan, KS, on June 30, 2025.

Born in Henderson, TX, Stephanie spent her early childhood in Texas and Houma, LA, before moving with her family to Pretty Prairie, KS. Stephanie was the first member of her family to attend college, graduating in 1955 from Kansas State University where she was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority. After graduation, she taught kindergarten in San Diego, CA, before marrying Dan and moving to Manhattan. Stephanie cherished her large and extended family in Texas, delighting in annual family reunions full of music and laughter. She and Dan enjoyed traveling, their large circle of friends, K-State athletics, boating at Tuttle Creek every summer, spending time picnicking in the country, and playing tennis. Stephanie was an avid reader and movie aficionado. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the local PEO chapter. Most of all, Stephanie was extremely proud of her three children and four grandchildren. Her greatest joy was sharing in their lives and celebrating them and their accomplishments.

Ruth Ann Roberts, 63, Manhattan, was born to Robert and LaQuita Roberts on July 29, 1962, at the Morris County Hospital in Council Grove, KS. She had four siblings: Kay, Raye, Bobby, and Chuck.

She embraced her Lord Jesus in her new heavenly home on August 9, 2025, at Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan after a short battle with an aggressive lung cancer.

Ruth Ann attended White City schools and graduated from high school there in 1980. After graduating, she worked at Neosho Construction Company, Charlene's, and the Council Grove Republican, before attending Manhattan Vocational-Technical School where she learned medical transcription. She worked numerous places in Manhattan, including Peterson Lab, Lafene Student Health on the KSU campus for 22 years, and six years for Konza Dental.

While attending vo-tech school, she met Michael Bundy, whom she married on May 22, 1987. They recently celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary. She was the proud mother of two daughters: Jacqueline Jacie and Kirsten Micah. Her family was her pride and joy. She shared her daughters happiness when they married their husbands, Matt and Colt.

She was a member of the Parkerville Baptist Church and later of the Life Connection Baptist Church of Ogden.

Avery S. Broccolo, age 38, passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, in Manhattan, Kansas. He was born on January 13, 1987, to parents Stephen and Michelle (Sutton) Broccolo in Manhattan, Kansas.

Avery graduated from Manhattan High School December 2004 and received his ASE Certification from WyoTech June 2006.

He married Amanda (Thorburn) on June 03, 2011.

He worked several years at Kansas State University in various departments across campus and recently went to work for Network Computer Solutions.

He enjoyed building computers, working on cars, and riding his motorcycles and mopeds. He loved his animals as well as spending time with his nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his wife, Amanda, Manhattan, KS; parents, Stephen and Michelle, Manhattan, KS; and other family members. He will be missed by many.

He was born on January 13, 1987, to parents Stephen and Michelle (Sutton) Broccolo in Manhattan, Kansas.Avery graduated from Manhattan High School December 2004 and received his ASE Certification from WyoTech June 2006.He married Amanda (Thorburn) on June 03, 2011.He worked several years at Kansas State University in various departments across campus and recently went to work for Network Computer Solutions.He enjoyed building computers, working on cars, and riding his motorcycles and mopeds. He loved his animals as well as spending time with his nieces and nephews.He is survived by his wife, Amanda, Manhattan, KS; parents, Stephen and Michelle, Manhattan, KS; and other family members. Avery S. Broccolo

Virginia Morris, age 76, of Manhattan, passed away Wednesday August 6, 2025, at the Stoneybrook Retirement Community in Manhattan.

She was born on July 28, 1949, in Manhattan, the daughter of Virgil H. and Winifred Alice (Hahn) Adams. Virigina grew up in Manhattan, attending local grade schools and graduated from Manhattan High School with the class of 1967. She then attended Kansas State and later Manhattan Technical College.

On November 17, 1973, in Manhattan, she was united in marriage to James Morris Sr. He preceded her in death October 11, 2014.

Virginia worked for many years as a licensed nurse (LPN) for local nursing homes and at the Irwin Army Hospital at Fort Riley. She was a hardworking and caring person. Viriginia was a caring person. Her family knew how much she loved them, and she made sure to be there for them as often as she could and help in any way.

When she was younger, she enjoyed trips with her family. For many years she would be with her kids and family at the lake enjoying the peaceful time out in nature. She was a member of the Shawnee County Allied Tribes in Kansas. She was proud of her Native American heritage and always was ready to be part of the pow-wow celebrations.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Manhattan.

Virginia is survived by her sons, James Morris Jr (Angie) and Adam Morris; also, her grandchildren Allison Mason and Britanny Mason, and her many other family and friends who will miss her.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00p.m. Friday August 29, 2025, at the Walnut Hill Cemetery north of Silver Lake, Kansas.

Lorene Julaine Stuteville, age 93, of Manhattan, Kansas, passed away on August 5, 2025, at the Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community in Manhattan.

Lorene was born on a family farm near Parsons, Kansas, to John Herrman Dringenberg and Iva May (Snyder) Dringenberg. She was an identical twin to her beloved sister, Glorene E. Cannon, with whom she shared a lifelong bond.

Lorene graduated from Parsons Senior High School and then earned an associate’s degree from Labette Community College. She married Donald L. Stuteville on September 7, 1952, in Parsons, Kansas. They were married for 68 years and built a life together filled with love, dedication, and family.

A kind and gentle soul, Lorene devoted her life to caring for others as a homemaker. Her warmth, compassion, and steady presence brought comfort to all who knew her.

Lorene was a longtime member of First Christian Church of Manhattan, Kansas. She was very active in church life, including the Disciples Women’s Fellowship Larsons Group, where she served as Chair for several years. She was also a member of the Women’s Disciples Cabinet at the church. Beyond her church involvement, Lorene was an active member of the TOPS group for several decades, as well as the Manhattan Welcome Club.

She is survived by her daughter Susan Carlson (Mike) of Broomfield, Colorado; her sons Donald Brian Stuteville (Kelly) of Parker, Colorado, and Robert Vincent Stuteville (Becky) of Parkville, Missouri; and her grandchildren Jessica Carlson, Eric Carlson, Erin Stuteville, Alec Stuteville, and Chomphunut Stuteville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Don Stuteville, her twin sister Glorene Cannon, and her brother Verland Dringenberg.

The family will greet friends during a visitation from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Sunday August 10, 2025 at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday August 11, 2025, at Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, with Reverend Laurie Lewis officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan.

Sharon L. Neugent passed away on August 5, 2025, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan, Kansas. She and her surviving twin sister, Shirley, were born on July 27, 1947, In Junction City, Kansas to Leo and Helen Kaufholz. Sharon and Shirley shared a life-long bond, as twins do.

Sharon graduated from Manhattan High School in 1966. Sharon worked for Little Apple Honda-Toyota for 26 years. She enjoyed her work and her colleagues and the people she met in her job.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Sonny, Gerald, and Jim Kaufholz, and two sisters, Linda Zdrojowy, and Helen Kaufholz.

Sharon is survived by her twin sister, Shirley Nielsen, and sister-in-law, Carol Kaufholz, both of Manhattan; also her nieces Karen Christopherson and Patricia Block, from Wisconsin.&nbsp;

Born on December 23, 1964, to Richard L. Belin and Jeanette M. Holladay, in Manhattan, KS. Our mother will be remembered for her fierce devotion to her family, her compassion for animals, and her undeniable loyalty to the Kansas City Chiefs. Whether she was sporting red and gold on game day or spoiling all the pets she adored, Mom was a true believer and dedicated herself wholeheartedly to everything she loved.

Our mother was a devoted parent, a proud grandmother, a beloved sister, and a cherished friend whose smile, laugh, and humor lit up every room. Her compassion ran deep, and her quick wit left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Throughout her life, Mom poured herself into raising her family and nurturing an unbreakable bond with her sisters, offering unconditional love and unwavering loyalty. She found joy in everyday moments, treasured traditions, and the company of those she held close.

Christine is survived by her children: Rhonda M. Zarger (Nick) of St. George, Eric E. Walsh of St. George, and Christopher R. Walsh (Kolbie) of Wamego; her sister Michelle L. Carol Elaine Threewit, age 86, passed away on August 3, 2025, in Westmoreland, Kansas.

Carol was born on July 6, 1939, in Onaga, Kansas, the daughter of Carl and Esther (Johnson) Holmgren.

She married her husband, Gary Threewit, on June 8, 1958, at the United Methodist Church in Westmoreland, Kansas. They shared many cherished years until Gary's passing on October 2, 2019

During her school years, she worked as a switchboard operator. From 1956 to 1958, she worked at Kansas State University (KSU), and from 1960 to 1964, she worked for the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS) office. From 1970 until 1989, she was a dedicated postal carrier, working in both Westmoreland and Wamego. In 2004, she retired from the Pottawatomie County appraiser's office.Carol enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests. She was passionate about music, playing the organ and piano, and took great joy in teaching many young people how to play. She shared her love by cooking for her family and enjoyed spending time visiting with her family and friends. Carol was also an avid reader and enjoyed photography.Carol is survived by her sons, David (Denise) Threewit and Mike Threewit; her brother, Loren (Patricia) Holmgren; her sister-in-law, Julia (Morris) Engle; her grandchildren, Elaina, Johnathan, and Michaela; her great-grandchildren, Myannah, Malik, Zoey, Lucas, and Avery; her great-great-grandchildren, Mariannah.
