Authorities are looking for a thief who may already be laundering his stolen funds through vending machines across the county.
On Christmas Eve morning, a man in the 900 block of Humboldt Street in Manhattan reported to RCPD officers that someone had broken into his house overnight.
The only thig the man reported stolen was a five-gallon bucket filled with change, from pennies to dollar coins.
The bucket of change - valued at approximately $3,000 - was hoisted from the victim’s basement, according to Riley County Police reports.
According to various internet math nerds, a five-gallon bucket filled with change would weigh at least 170 pounds.
Officers filed a report for aggravated burglary. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
