Greater Manhattan Community Foundation hires a new Vice President for Development

Manhattan, KS — The Greater Manhattan Community Foundation (GMCF) has announced the hiring of Shane Shivley as its new Vice President for Development. Shivley will begin his role in mid-March.

Shivley brings more than two decades of leadership experience in philanthropy, higher education advancement, and strategic development. Most recently, he served as Senior Director of University Development in the President’s Office at Emporia State University. Prior to that, he served as President and CEO of the Emporia State University Foundation, where he led comprehensive fundraising efforts and guided transformational philanthropic growth.

During his tenure at Emporia State, Shivley played a key role in closing major capital campaigns, securing historic gifts, and significantly increasing endowment and asset growth. His leadership advanced scholarship funding, strengthened institutional infrastructure, and positioned the university for long-term sustainability.

In his new role, Shivley will focus on cultivating philanthropic partnerships, advancing estate and planned giving strategies, and strengthening relationships with donors and professional advisors throughout the region. His experience in campaign leadership, governance, and principal gift development positions GMCF to continue building long-term charitable resources that benefit the Manhattan community for years to come.

Shivley holds a Master of Education in Sports Administration from Wichita State University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Marketing from Emporia State University. He has also been actively involved in numerous civic and professional organizations, reflecting his dedication to community leadership.
