This Thursday July 18th, Downtown Manhattan will host a major event. Patrons can expect a record number of artists, entertainers and hands on fun with 50 vendors and artists lining Poyntz Avenue!
The first annual Plein Air (painting outdoors) on Poyntz will see 24 artists competing for a cash prize of $500. The artists will be in a spot of their choosing on Poyntz between 3rd Street and Juliette.
There will be a three day Downtown Sidewalk Sale kicking off on July 18th and running through the 20th. More than 15 retailers will have racks and tables on the sidewalks. Retailers will be open until 8pm Thursday. Sunset Zoo is hosting crazy fun bug art. There will also be a furniture wood maker, acoustic musicians, handmade jewelry, soaps, pottery and the Discovery Center will have an activity entitled Painting with Plants.
You can visit Brain Station at AJ’s Pizzeria street patio for games and art projects made possible by BHS Construction. Strecker Nelson West Gallery is hosting their Indoor Artist Market until 8pm. You can expect the Bourbon & Baker Cake Walk, an Interactive art wall and live music beginning at 8pm at Tallgrass Taphouse and Finn’s Pub, nontraditional art spaces at 409 and 413 Poyntz and Midtown Plaza which will be open to the public. The show Farrago by local women artists is still on display.
Third Thursday is made possible by stewards of downtown, most especially AJ’s Pizzeria, who has been the main sponsor of this event for six years.
