On this National Buffalo Soldier Day, the Geary County CVB honored the legacy of the Buffalo Soldiers and their lasting connection to Geary County.
After the Civil War, Congress established six all-Black Army regiments, including the 9th and 10th Cavalries, which were frequently stationed at Fort Riley. Many of these soldiers and their families became part of the Junction City community, leaving a legacy that can still be seen through places and stories along the Black History Trail of Geary County.
