Merle Donald “Don” Reyer

Merle Donald “Don” Reyer, age 88, a longtime Manhattan resident, died December 12, 2020, at Valley View Senior Life in Junction City, KS.

He was born March 22, 1932, in Manhattan, the son of Merle George and Ila Deloris (Fronce) Reyer.

Don worked construction and then as a truck driver for Shilling Construction, retiring in 2004.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and hunting and fishing.

On November 6, 1955, at the First Baptist Church in Manhattan, he was married to Dorothy Louise Smith. Dorothy preceded him in death on September 22, 2016. He was also preceded in death by his brother Robert Reyer; and one grandson Russell Patrick Soupene.

Survivors include his son Gary Reyer and his wife Cyreathia of Wamego, KS; two step-daughters: Peggy Davis and her husband Ron of Medical Lake, WA, and DeAnn Kellogg of Wamego, KS; three sisters: Dolores Smith and Margie Danning both of Manhattan, and Barb Wilson of Wamego, KS; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

Cremation is planned with services to be held when it is safe for everyone to attend.
