Teresa Jo Dodds, 81, died Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at the Washington County Hospital, Washington.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 16, from 1 to 7 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home in Washington. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Monday, January 17, at Ward Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the Washington City Cemetery.
Teresa was born on the family farm, June 25, 1940 to Ancel and Margaret (Black) DeRemus. She graduated from Alta Brown High School in Garden City in 1958 and later she graduated from beautician school.
On June 11, 1961 she was united in marriage to Calvin “Toad” C Dodds in Washington. To this union they were blessed with two sons, Cameron and Quinton.
Teresa was a beautician for over 30 years running her salon out of her home. She also worked at Gas N Shop for a few years before retiring.
Teresa enjoyed visiting with people. She belonged to the local “coffee club”. You could always catch her and the rest of the coffee club at Short Stop daily. Teresa loved to bake and loved to share her baked goods. She would always offer up a dozen cookies for a social gathering around Washington. She was also very proud of her grandchildren. She liked to have trees planted in the city park in memory of Autumn and “Toad”.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin “Toad” Dodds; her parents; granddaughter, Autumn Faith Dodds; brother, Lloyd DeRemus; and sister, Greta Gibbs.
Survivors include her two sons, Cameron Dodds, Washington, Quinton (Daria) Dodds, Manhattan; grandchildren, Gavin and Kennedy Dodds; brother, David DeRemus, St. Petersburg, FL; and sisters, Sharon (Leonard) Haverkamp, Ellsworth and Linda Leckider, Salina.
A memorial fund is established to be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
