Aggieville parking lots to get overhaul in coming years

MANHATTAN, Kan. - The City of Manhattan released a post via Facebook Tuesday, highlighting the future of Aggieville parking lots at 12th and Laramie street.

According to the post, Last Tuesday, the City Commission accepted the recommendation to move forward with a proposal from Back 9 Development.

"The team will be working to create a development project for the two City-owned parking lots in that area. Back 9 Development was selected, but the project has not been finalized yet - we're still in the very early stages. For the next step, City staff will work with the development team to finalize the pre-development agreement. The pre-development agreement will include a lot of parameters."

The pre-development agreement will also specify obligations that must be met by the developer, such as defining the design, schedule/timeline, and budget.

"The pre-development agreement will be brought back to the City Commission for consideration before it is executed. This project is another step toward redeveloping Aggieville into a 'vibrant, historic, pedestrian-orientated urban district that offers diverse shopping, dining, entertainment, and residential opportunities to students, visitors and the broader community,' as identified in the adopted Aggieville Community Vision plan," the post read.
