The City of Manhattan has announced that Parks and Recreation is taking another step toward sustainability and efficiency in maintaining the parks and green spaces. With support from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy and Conservation Block Grant, the department will be adding 23 new robotic mowers to its operations.
Robotic mowers are already in use at Anneberg Park, where community members may have noticed them quietly at work. The expansion of this program will reduce reliance on gasoline-powered equipment, lower maintenance and contract mowing costs, and improve overall mowing efficiency. Additionally, the use of robotic mowers will free up staff time, allowing crews to focus on other essential park improvements and services.
