Rebecca Brough passed away peacefully on March 3, 2024, at her home.Rebecca Lorene Brough was born on April 26, 1984 in Junction City, Kansas, the beautiful daughter of Gary and Karen (Birzer) Brough.
Rebecca had her son, Dylan, in 2009. She adored Dylan as he was the pride and joy of her life. Rebecca was with Robert Hagadorn. She loved having a family and caring for his two daughters. They were married from March 2021 through July 2023.
Becca graduated from Junction City High School in the class of 2002. She was a photographer for two years for the school newspaper and a member of the band. She played a baritone saxophone for concerts and was on the Flag Drill Team for Marching Band and was a team captain her senior year. Becca also played on the initial women's soccer team at JCHS in the position as Goalie. Rebecca attended Emporia State University majoring in Fine Arts. She graduated from the Hallmark Institute of Photography in Turners Fall, Massachusetts, which was nationally accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges. Rebecca had a love and passion for photography from childhood throughout her life. She was an expert with her camera and with use of Photoshop.Rebecca had several jobs throughout her career. She worked for local newspapers and for GTM Sportswear as their primary photographer taking pictures for catalogs, advertising, and billboards. She photographed both live models and sportswear. She flipped a house for her mother taking the floors down to the original oak. Rebecca worked for the state child support contractor doing both execution of court orders and fielding phone calls. Her last job with Dillons of Junction City was a favorite. She enjoyed her co-workers and her customers, often meeting people she knew throughout her life. She loved helping people.Rebecca was a creative, cheerful person. She could find joy and love in everything she did. Becca loved her family and her pets. She was most content when she had her dogs and cats with her. She loved a sunny day and being outdoors.
Becca was preceded in death by her father, Gary Brough; her grandparents, Leo and Regina Birzer; her grandmother, Marion Brough and her uncles, Jimmy and Danny Brough.
Rebecca is survived by her son, Dylan; her mother, Karen Brough of Junction City, Kansas; her brother, Nickolas Brough of Kansas City, Kansas; Adele Taylor and her daughter, Penelope, of Manhattan, Kansas; Bradley Taylor and his children of Abilene, Kansas; her two aunts, Linda Sherman of Ellinwood, Kansas and Susan Brough of Great Bend, Kansas; her two uncles, Matthew (Debe) Birzer of Bonner Springs, Kansas and Aaron (Kathy) Birzer of Ellinwood, Kansas; her cousins, Chris and Megan with their daughter, Olive, of Kansas City, Kansas, Adam and Tawny Birzer of Liberty, Missouri, Marcus and Monica Birzer with their son, Skylar, of Lawrence, Kansas, Christi Birzer-Schneider of Shawnee, Kansas with her son, Alexander, of Syracuse, New York, Beau Brough and his sons, Jordan and Nash, of Great Bend, Kansas, Thomas and Justina Brough of Wichita, Kansas, Frank and Chelsea Brough of Kinsley, Kansas, Rick and Sherri Brough of Winfield, Kansas, Jimmy and Melissa Brough and their children of Topeka, Kansas; Kenny Pedigo of Wichita, Kansas. Robert Hagadorn and daughters, Brielle and Cyana.
The family will receive friends 5-6:30 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2024 at Johnson Funeral Home. A vigil service will be held at 6:30 p.m. following the visitation.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2024 at St. Xavier Catholic Church with Father Kerry Ninemire officiating.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2024 at the Ellinwood Cemetery in Ellinwood, Kansas with Father Terry Klein officiating.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to be given to the Junction City Animal Shelter.
