According to a post on the Riley County police Facebook page five puppies were found abandoned in a box in a Popeyes restaurant parking lot in Manhattan Sunday night.
The puppies will be held at Prairie Paws Animal Shelter - Manhattan KS for their mandatory 72-hour stray hold. After this period, they will go directly into a foster home and will not be available for adoption at this time. They are currently classified as strays, and an investigation is ongoing. If you have any questions about fostering or adopting please contact Prairie Paws.
With the temperatures dropping low Sunday night, the puppies may not have made it but someone found them and kept them safe until Monday morning. Authorities are seeking information that the public may have regarding the pups.
