Patricia Lynn (Crownhart) Hanson, age 78, of Overland Park, Kansas and formerly of Manhattan, passed away February 20, 2024 at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City.
She was born on February 13, 1946 in Kansas City, the daughter of Floyd and Pauline (Meares) Crownhart. She attended schools in the Kansas City area and graduated from North Kansas City High School with the class of 1964. Patricia then attended Kansas State University and earned her bachelor’s degree in education. She later attended Mid America Nazarene and earned her Master’s Degree in education.
On June 10, 1967 in Kansas City, she was united in marriage to Leon S. Hanson. He survives at their home in Overland Park.
Patricia was a teacher for many years. She taught at Leawood Middle School in Leawood, Kansas, and also at schools in Grandview, Missouri and Junction City, Kansas. She enjoyed helping kids learn and watching them grow. She was a member of the St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Manhattan.
She was preceded in death by her sister Kathleen Gleason and brother-in-law Thomas Gleason.
In addition to her husband Steve, she is survived by her daughter Amanda DeVolder (Jeffrey); her grandchildren: Emory, Tucker, and Tillie; and her brother Floyd Crownhart (Mary); and her many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday March 2, 2024 at the Colbert Hills Clubhouse, 5200 Colbert Hills Drive, Manhattan, Kansas 66503.
The family suggests memorial contributions in memory of Patricia to the Prairie Paws Animal Shelter in Manhattan. Contributions may be sent in care of the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas 66502.
