RCPD alerts public about increase in vehicle burglaries

Riley County police say that once again there is an increase in vehicle burglaries being experienced. . The majority of these burglaries happened in unlocked vehicles. While the county are well below its five-year average, police have noticed a recent spike in vehicle break-ins across Riley County but in Manhattan in particular.

Here are some tips to keep your car and belongings inside safe:

**Lock Your Doors**: Always lock your vehicle, even if you’re just stepping away for a moment.

**Hide Valuables**: Keep purses, electronics, and other valuables out of sight.

**Park Smart**: Choose well-lit areas and busy streets to deter potential thieves.

**Stay Aware**:Report any suspicious activity to the Riley County Police Department immediately.
