Herbert Dietrich “Herb” Ruebke, 81, died March 6, 2023, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. He was born May 6, 1941, in rural Pretty Prairie, to Henry H. and Agnes Marie (Krehbiel) Ruebke.
Herb graduated from Pretty Prairie High School. He worked as a machinist for Cessna, before retiring from Mega Manufacturing. Herb grew up on the family farm, helping his parents and siblings farm and operate the family business, Ruebke Orchard. After retirement, he ran his own lawn mowing business, continued to garden, and watched his favorite sports teams; KU basketball and Kansas City Chiefs. Herb also enjoyed training his dogs. He was an active member of Crestview Bible Church for over 40 years.
On June 4, 1977, Herb married Bonnie (Hess) Tylicki, at First Mennonite Church, Hutchinson.
Herb is survived by: his wife of almost 46 years, Bonnie of Hutchinson; sons, Troy Ruebke (Joni) of Manhattan, Brent Ruebke (Peggy) of Nickerson, and Jim Tylicki (Becky) of Sylvia; sisters, Ruth Stucky and Judith Lowdon (Corey); sister-in-law, Beatrice Ruebke; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and his beloved dog, Tonya Lee.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, John Ruebke; brother-in-law, Bob Stucky; and nephews, Donald Ruebke and Douglas Stucky.
Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Crestview Bible Church, 2401 N. Halstead, Hutchinson, with Pastor Phil Auxier officiating. Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday and 9:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, with the family present Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. Cremation has taken place.
