Lon Vincent Silver, 83, of Morganville, KS, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2022, at his residence. His loving wife and three daughters were by his side.
He was born on July 11, 1938, in Clay Center, KS, to William Vincent Silver and Sophia Eileen (Malcolm) Silver, the oldest of three children.
Lon attended K-State University, where he was a member of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. He then spent four years in the U.S. Air Force at Schilling Air Force Base in Salina, KS.
He married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Jacqueline Sue Haden, on Oct. 24, 1958, at the First Baptist Church in Clay Center, KS.
Lon’s lifelong career path would be to carry on the family farm, which has been in the family since the 1800’s. His love of the outdoors would culminate in an amazing 50 plus year career in farming.
His passions were fishing, camping and gardening. Together, with Jackie, they spent many years camping and fishing at Milford Lake. They grew a large garden every summer and enjoyed sharing their produce with family and friends, and selling their produce at the Junction City and Clay Center markets. For more than 30 years, they enjoyed spending the winter months in South Padre Island, TX.
Lon was a dedicated and loving husband, father, and grandfather to his wife, three daughters and four grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father (Bill), mother (Eileen), brother (Mike), and sister (Carol).
Survivors include: His wife, Jackie, of the home, daughters; Susan and Bob Ervin (Lenexa, KS), Christina and Jim Barnier (New Lisbon, WI), and Patricia Silver (Morganville, KS). Grandchildren include: Paul Ervin, John-Patrick Ervin, Dakota Barnier, and Kennedy Barnier. He is also survived by his beloved three nieces, four nephews, and many cousins.
Respect calls for Lon’s Celebration of Life will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on July 11, 2022, at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley, KS.
Memorial contributions can be made to Milford State Park and be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
