Six candidates will remain in the November general election for the USD 383 Manhattan / Ogden Board of Education. According to the Riley County elections office report during the primary election on Tuesday 4,751 voters cast ballots, or 13.61% of the registered voters.
The top six moving on past the primary included Christine Weixelman with 2,231 votes, Jayme Morris-Hardeman with 2,105, Betty Mattingly-Ebert 2,085, Karla Hagemeister 1,960, Steven Ruzzin 1,823 and Teresa Parks with 1,471 votes.
Four candidates on the ballot were eliminated from the race, although one, Bill Spiegel, had recently announced that he was withdrawing from the race. The others and their vote totals were Jennifer Chua with 1,114, Kevin M. Harms 462, Carl Treece 323 and Bill Spiegel did receive 162 votes.
