Manhattan, Kan. – The Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce anounced that Jim Gordon has been named the 2024 Lud Fiser Citizen of the Year. This award was presented during the Chamber’s Annual Meeting on February 9 at the Manhattan Conference Center.
Named in honor of former Chamber President Lud Fiser who led the organization from 1948 to 1975, this award recognizes individuals whose leadership, service, and dedication have significantly contributed to the growth and vitality of the Manhattan community. Jim is the 56th recipient of this distinguished honor.
With a career spanning over 40 years in tax, consulting, and accounting services, Jim has been a trusted advisor to businesses and individuals throughout the region. A proud graduate of Kansas State University, he joined Sink Gordon Accountants & Advisors LLP in 1980 and has since provided leadership in business consulting and tax services. His expertise includes estate tax planning, business valuation, and income tax preparation, and he has authored and presented continuing education programs in business valuation, tax training, and professional ethics.
Beyond his professional achievements, Jim has dedicated countless hours to community service. He was a founding member of the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation and served as its first board president. His commitment to civic engagement is further exemplified by his tenure as Chairman of the Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce in 2017. Additionally, he has played an active role in professional organizations such as the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Kansas Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Public Accountants Association of Kansas, where he previously served as president.
