Joe Thomas Self, Sr. 75, of Chapman, Kansas died on Monday, March 27, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

The family will receive friends 5-6 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Johnson Funeral Home. Joe's wishes were to be cremated. A graveside service with military honors will take place 10 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2024 at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery. The cremated remains of his late wife Karola R. (Kuhlman) Self who died March 3, 2023 will also be buried at that time.

Joe was born November 13, 1948 in Atlanta, Georgia the son of George and Edna (McManus) Self. Joe served in the Untied States Army for fourteen years. He was honorably discharges as an E-5. Joe worked many different jobs in the area. The last job was working for AAFES as a custodian at the Forsyth Express Shopette on Fort Riley. Joe enjoyed fishing, hunting and building things for the family. He also enjoyed all his pets and loved animals in general.

Survivors include one son, Joe Thomas Self, Jr. of Chapman, Kansas; one daughter, Vicky Self of Chapman, Kansas and one step-son, Marc Kuhlman of Germany; five grandchildren; one brother, Bruce Self; one sister, Carol Green.He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Karola and two siblings.&nbsp;&nbsp;
