ST. MARYS - A Sunday morning update from Saint Marys Chief of Police, Derek Cid, confirms Officer Mark Lamberson has passed away.
Chief Sid says Lamberson passed away unexpectedly while on duty on July 2, 2022.
Lamberson joined the Saint Marys Police Department in 2013, after having served with the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office as a jail deputy.
The Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office deputies will be providing additional coverage within the Saint Marys city limits for the next few days.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) is the lead agency looking into the circumstances leading up to Officer Lamberson's passing.
Details about Lamberson's passing will be released as necessary and relevant to public interest, however foul play is not suspected in this incident.
Officer Lamberson is survived by his wife, children and parents.

ST MARYS(WIBW-TV) - Law enforcement officials have been called to a developing incident north of St. Marys.
The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office says just after 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, law enforcement officials were called to an incident north of St. Marys.
Officers at the scene told 13 NEWS that an officer was involved in the incident, however, at this time, it remains unclear how.
Currently, deputies said there is not believed to be a threat to the public.
Officials from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation have arrived on the scene.
