Anna Wihelmina Gehrt, 93, of Paxico, Kansas, died Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at Midland Care Hospice House in Topeka. She was a member of the community since 1949.
Anna was born on April 27, 1928, in rural Sabetha, Kansas, the daughter of Albert and Louise (Bauerle) Ackerman. She attended local schools in Sabetha and graduated from Sabetha High School. She then took a 6-week business course in Topeka.
Anna married Arthur Gehrt on May 8, 1949, in Sabetha. He preceded her in death on March 29, 2005.
Anna was a farm wife and homemaker. She was an active partner in the family dairy and farming operation north of Paxico. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in McFarland, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid Society and taught Sunday School. She was a past 4-H Leader. She enjoyed bird watching and in her younger years, square dancing. Anna’s family was very important to her, and she loved spending time with them, especially with her grand and great-grandchildren.
Anna is survived by her daughter, Joyce Heigert (Tom), Paxico; her grandchildren, Michelle Stuhlsatz (David), Paxico, Lisa Boetel (Kieth), Omaha, Nebraska, Lori Dickman, Hays, Anthony Heigert (Amber), Paxico, and Michael Heigert (Heather), Manhattan; her sister, Julia Jackson (Joe), Topeka and her brother, Robert Ackerman (Alma), Seneca; nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Anna was also preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Twila Johnson, Wilma Jean Thompson, and George Ackerman.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 18, 2021, at Campanella & Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in McFarland. Anna will lie-in-state, Friday, beginning at 4:00 p.m. The family will greet friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.. They suggest memorial contributions to Midland Hospice House or Trinity Lutheran Church, and those may be sent in care of the funeral home.
