TOPEKA, Kan. — The Manhattan High School Indians saw their season come to a close on Tuesday night, falling to the Washburn Rural Junior Blues 51-33.
Rural would jump out to an early 18-10 lead after the first quarter, but the second period would see more problems arise. Offensive struggles would be the root cause of a 10-2 second quarter in favor of Washburn Rural, allowing the Junior Blues to take a 28-12 lead into the locker room.
The second half would be much more even, but the deficit was just too much for the Indians to overcome.
Manhattan ends their season with a 9-11 overall record.
Washburn Rural advances to the Sub-State Final on the road against 6A #5 Lawrence Free State Friday, who defeated Junction City 53-42 on Tuesday night.
