
DICKINSON COUNTY —A small earthquake shook a rural area of Dickinson County on Monday.
The quake measured a magnitude of 2.8, according to the U.S. Geological Survey and was centered approximately 3.7 miles northeast of the community of Hope. The Kansas Geological Survey estimated the preliminary magnitude at 3.1.
A second quake rattled the area to the east of Hope at 11:52 p.m. Monday, according to the Kansas Geological Survey (KGS). That quake, reported to be a 2.5 magnitude temblor, was centered just east of Paint Road between Kansas Highway 4 and 600 Avenue.
A third earthquake shook the area northeast of Hope and northwest of Herington at 12:51 a.m. Tuesday. The 2.3 magnitude quake was centered north of 800 Avenue between Sage Road and Trail Road.
