Connis transitioned to eternal life at Stormont Vail Hospital on Thursday, May 25th, 2023, surrounded by his family after a few short months of battling cancer. He was the son of the late Samuel Glover and Parthenia (Holley) Dent of Madison, Alabama (Limestone County). In 1978, Connis met the love of his life and soulmate of 41 years, Diana Baker, married on August 12, 1981. Together they lovingly raised their two amazing children. The world was made a better place with the birth of Connis Gene Dent, fondly known as C.C. to his family. He enjoyed decorating and celebrating Christmas with his family, his morning talks with his wife, fishing, watching professional sports, and grilling. Most of all he loved spoiling his granddaughter.

Widely known in his professional career for his infectious leadership style, dedication, and commitment to excellence, Connis served our Nation for over three decades, serving 20 years in the Army. After military retirement, he worked at Foot Locker and then went on to continue serving the nation as a supply technician in the federal government for 15 years. His military assignments include Hanau, Germany; Baumholder, Germany; Geissen, Germany; Fort Rucker, Alabama; Fort Drum, New York; and Fort Riley, Kansas. His military awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, Kuwait Liberation Medal, and Humanitarian Service Medal.
