SFC (RET) Lewis O. Young, 52, of Junction City, passed away on June 17, 2023, at Stormont Vail - Flint Hills Campus. A visitation will take place 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Thursday, June 29, 2023. A graveside service with full military honors will take place at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery at 11:00 a.m., June 30, 2023.
He was born on February 2, 1971, to Charles and Shirreen (Ryan) in Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. Being a military son, he was brought to Junction City, Kansas, where he graduated from Junction City High School. Upon graduating high school, he left for the U.S. Army. He served his country honorably. While he was serving in the military, he earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree with Trident University. He used his education to further his military career.
After serving his country honorably for 20 years, he found his new calling in robotics and engineering on Fort Riley. Shortly after leaving the engineering program, he wanted to spend most of his time with his family and friends in Junction City.
He was a life member of the local V.F.W. Post #8773 and a life member of the M.O.C. After joining the M.O.C., he earned the rank of Grand Commander of Kansas.
Memorial contributions can be given to the local M.O.C. per family wishes.
He is survived by four daughters, Alicia Kline, DeAundra Young, Lynette Young and Brandy Young; one son, Lewis Oscar Young, Jr.; four grandchildren, Nayshawn Kline, Aaron Kline, Jr., Lylah Kline, and Messiah Kline; two sisters, Shirreen Rivera and Mary Lee Young; two brothers, Charles Young, Jr. and Dente' Ryan Young; a loving mother, Shirreen Young and a multitude of other family and friends.
He is preceded by his father, CSM (RET) Charles Edward Young, Sr. and grandparents.
